Street parking available for this cozy eatery. We came by on a Saturday night and there was a live band and a full house. The menu had a lot of seafood (oysters, catfish, calamari and Southern faves like fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits. The customer service was friendly and accommodating. We joined a large (family) party at the last minute and they let us join tables without any fuss. We also did not realize they were closing soon after we arrived, but they still let us order food, again with no fuss. The decor and artwork were great! The food was absolutely delicious. We were a table of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meal. A couple of people had the Big Blu breakfast, one person had a shrimp po-boy, two had the smash burger and one had the avocado toast. The service, however, left something to be desired. They didn't seem to have enough menus, eating utensils or glassware. The food came out on spirts - first one meal, then 2 meals and about 5 minutes later the last two meals. This was such a horrible experience. The service and timeliness reallyneed to be improved. It took over 45 minutes to get drinks. Most of the tables food was out before drinks were brought to the table. The kitchen was not willing to tell us where the oysters came from. Due to this we asked to cancel of order of oysters before they even came out and the "manager" on staff stated that she could not do refunds! How is that a refund when we asked to cancel the order before it came out. We asked for salt and pepper and didn't receive it for 30 minutes, by this time grits were cold and were not good enough to eat. And to top it all off, there was a piece of metal in one of my friends' shrimp and grits. When we shared this with the manager, she stated she could remake it for a discount. We had to tell her that was unacceptable and the meal should be completely taken off of the check. She then reluctantly stated she would take it off. Initial impression not good. Walked in at noon, no regular coffee (for a brunch place, weird). Asked for a diet drink for the diabetic family member, the server said she didn't think they had diet sodas, only sprite and coke. So the food has always been stellar as well as the atmosphere but the downside was always the timing from sit down to eating. Well they fixed that! Our last time here was 45 minutes just to get our food. We got our food in 13 minutes this time! Fantastic!!! The staff was amazing and the decor and food are out of this world. The food and service are good. My friends and I love the line dancing there on Friday nights. The owner on the other hand sucks. I see why they were on Bar Rescue. He removed our food and drinks from our table without asking if we were done. Then, when confronted about it, with a nasty attitude, he asked if we wanted more fries. He never replaced our drinks or removed the meal from the bill, discounted it, or anything. Other people that saw it were pissed at his interaction with us. We got the fried oysters and fried green tomatoes as apps. Both were very tasty. The oysters had a nice crunch and seasoned well. The tomatoes were thick and hot. They were 5 in an order. Both apps were $12. All meals are served with fries. There is a $1, $2, or $3 upcharge to substitute for another side. The regular catfish meal has 2 pieces-$14. The Mac n cheese is pretty good- $3 upcharge and the greens $6. They were sweet with a little spice. My sister ordered the grits, $1 upcharge, were creamy. The catfish was fried to perfection. It was crispy and well seasoned. The waffles while tasty, was too soggy for me. I like more of a crunch. They pour this bomb Maple syrup in it. It tastes more like a dessrt. There were not very many people in this restaurant therefore I didn't understand why service was sooooooo slow. Everything we asked for took 4-ever. Very disappointed and will probably not support this business anymore. Six of us went to celebrate a friend's birthday two of us ordered the salmon which we usually order at restaurants since we don't eat meat that often. I regret not taking a picture of our food. It was the tiniest piece of salmon on both of our plates that I have EVER been served at a restaurant. Also the side of brussel sprouts that came with my meal was about half full compared to the others at my table. When I showed the waitress she took my dish to the kitchen and returned with the same dish and simply told me that they were running out of Brussels sprouts. We love this place!! My family met for brunch after Christmas and the food and service were both excellent! Some of the best French Toast and Waffles we've ever had. The atmosphere was calm and cozy. We each had a different flavored mimosa and no one was disappointed. No espresso drinks, but the coffee good and strong. I set out to find a place that was unique and pretty. My niece and I tried Blu Rose. It is so artsy inside with paintings of musicians like Prince. It is quaint and I felt like I was in a cafe in New Orleans.My niece loved the Blueberry tea. The Banana Foster was very good and plentiful with syrup and bananas and pecans. Woooowwwww!!! A hidden gem in Douglasville has officially been put on my map. We ended up here by sheer Yelp coincidence and I'm so glad we made it!!! Just a quick family lunch on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. The Yelp reviews were great and I figured, we should try it for ourselves. The waitress was great, gave us great recommendations and even the manager came over and introduced himself to the table. I appreciate that extra level of southern hospitality. As for the food- HONEY CHILD!!!! It was delicious. Hands down, some of the best food I have had in Douglas County, if not the best. I got the shrimp po boy and an order of calamari. I've been to Blue Rose once before when they first opened and I believe they were under different ownership at the time so I was a little hesitant to try because the food was definitely a disappointment. I've been following them for some time on social media and they kept grabbing my attention with their brunch so I decided to give them another try. This is a black owned small business in downtown Douglasville so I'm all about supporting not only black owned businesses, but small businesses. The owner is really nice and is working hard to provide a quality dining experience along with other great things with his business. I know I've seen them have live performances there before, along with art related events for kids as well as adults which is nice. For one, it's nice to have a brunch spot close to home that sells mimosas so I was in. I went on a Sunday afternoon and ordered the chicken and waffles, side of Parmesan cheese grits, and the bottomless mimosas. We had to wait a good minute in our food and it wasn't super packed in there. There was a larger party there though and they had just ordered before we got there so that contributed to our long wait. The owner along with a number of the staff did come to us a number of times and apologize and explain what was going on which was very nice and shows they're attentive and care about their customers. The owner was very personable and talked to us for a bit and had been turning this establishment around. The customer service was great! The chicken came out piping hot along with all of the food we ordered which was nice. I had to be careful eating my wings because they were so hot lol. I will say although they were nice and hot, they were very fresh and could've used more seasoning. My sister thought the food was just ok and nothing great. I did enjoy the waffles and the grits and agree the food could be a tad bit better. Presentation and everything was very nice though. While there. They had a dj which was nice and I believe they tend to have a dj there on Sundays for brunch. It's a small place, but it's filled with character and various forms of art which is nice. If the restaurant was very busy while we were there I would had some type of Grace as to why our food was delayed but the fact that this establishment wasn't even that busy! But yet we had to wait 2 hours to get our food for a party of four that's very unacceptable. If there is a delay in service, The right thing is customer know up front that your food will be delayed! So they have the option of whether to wait or not!. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was so mediocre with no flavor. And definitely not $24 worth for that. Our server went through the menu and we ordered salmon croquettes and green fried tomatoes as apps. The croquettes were delicious. My mom enjoyed the tomatoes. My main entree I went for the burger which was awesome. I also loved all the black artwork all over the restaurant. Don't know if it's for sale, but it was absolutely beautiful. The only flaw in my opinion is if you're using a credit/debit card, they add on a surcharge. Didn't care for that at all especially being a person who almost never carries cash. Where should I begin? I made a reservation for 12 for 6:00 by phone about a week early and they charged $50 on my card to hold it. When I got there at 6 they had the reservation for 6 although no tabes were prepared. They allowed us to sit at the high risers and all the tables were extremely wobbly. Eventually, they were able to seat us in the main dining area. Now for the food. They were out of several items on the menu. They didn't have enough silverware wrapped for the table so some of us got plastic utensils to start. We waited what felt like an hour for our dinner. Some if us were almost finished eating while others were still waiting. One of us ordered salmon without the blackened seasoning. The cook didn't read the order and made it with the seasoning but couldn't make another one because they didn't have anymore. Another person in my party didn't receive her fries, one didn't get her mac and cheese and after inquiring several times and eventually canceling her order they finally brought it out after everyone else was finished eating. She refused it. She went back and forth with the manager about canceling until she (the manager) decided cancel it. The appetizer wings were tiny, the fried wings were over fried and needed seasoning. The pasta and chicken dish needed more Alfredo sauce as it was dry.
