Party of 17 for a Mother's Day weekend brunch at Gritz Brunch Bar. Upon arrival, the young gentleman at the front stated he was unaware of our large party reservation. He did work to prepare tables for us, although he seemed hesitant to combine all of the tables together for the group. Unfortunately, the floors were noticeably dirty, and the staff appeared to make a last-minute attempt to clean the area as we were being seated. Our server was kind and pleasant, but the service lacked attentiveness in several areas. A few members of our party were initially overlooked when orders were being taken, and some drinks never arrived without gentle reminders. On the positive side, everyone eventually received their meals. Now, the food itself? Absolutely amazing overall. The flavor, temperature, portion sizes, and quality were impressive. Most of our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The only consistent complaint came from a few people who ordered the French toast -- they felt it lacked flavor and thought the issue may have been more about the bread selection than the preparation itself. Despite the service and cleanliness concerns, this is still a spot worth trying. The staff would greatly benefit from additional customer service training -- smiling, checking on guests regularly, and maintaining engagement with customers goes a long way, especially when the restaurant is nearly empty. Our group was practically the only large party dining there for close to two hours. The cleanliness also needs immediate improvement. First impressions matter, and honestly, a food critic or health professional might have walked out based solely on the condition of the floors upon entry. That said, we're genuinely glad we chose Gritz as our 2026 Mother's Day Saturday brunch destination. The food made the experience worthwhile, and we absolutely plan to return. I had oxtails, greens and yams, over all I will give it this place a 7/10. The yams were the best not to sweet but just right and they melted in your mouth. Oxtails were super tender but they seemed like it was missing something, I just don't know what the something was, however they were good. First impression visit on a Saturday morning at 10:30AM with a large party. The restaurant was full by 11:00AM. Restaurant is located in a suite. There is free street parking for 2 hours. At the time we went out was easy to find parking. We ordered the seafood omlette plate, smothered pork chops, fried pork chops, and the all around omlete with salmon. Pros They have music but it is not loud- you can have a conversation without having to yell over the music. They have traditional Atlanta brunch prices but they give great portions. The omletes had fresh cut tomatoes. Cons They do not serve appetizers. There are no appetizers on the menu. The pork chops were fried too hard. We asked for a side of gravy and the gravy had more seasoning than the chops. They have automatic gratuity and I do not appreciate being mislead. When it was time to pay, they server showed the tipping screen, not the receipt, and I tipped like a normal person would. She did NOT tell me that gratuity was automatically included, making me give her a $50 tip. I should have been shown the receipt, regardless of what the menu may or may not say. 10. I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant, so many people recommended it (Uber driver, family and friends) but unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. The air conditioning didn't seem to be working, it was uncomfortably warm throughout our entire visit. There was only one server / bartender for the entire restaurant, we waited over an hour and 20 minutes for our food. This is way too long, especially for a Monday morning / afternoon brunch. We ordered a pitcher of peach Bellini, the menu listed the pitcher of Bellini at $35 but when the bill came, we were charged $40. When we questioned it, the server informed us they were using old menus and the price had changed and he was unable to adjust the price, only a manager could and a manger wasn't there As for the food itself, it was decent, but definitely didn't live up to the hype. I had the chicken and waffles, which were good. My aunt enjoyed her salmon sandwich. My son enjoyed the cinnamon roll pancakes. My nephew had a salmon dish that he didn't enjoy fully and my one cousin's fish was overly salty, and another thought her chicken, yams, and greens were just okay. And the grits ... they are average at best, not at all the "life-altering" experience you'd expect given the restaurant's name. Another thing to note: when the bill arrives, you're prompted to leave an 18-25% tip but please know an 18% gratuity is automatically added to your bill and it's not specifically noted when you're paying the bill. It's misleading and could easily result in double tipping. Bottom line the food was good, but not good enough to justify the heat, the long wait, the pricing issues and the sneaky tipping setup. When it came time to plan our outing, we had a few options, however, based on my last experience at Gritz Brunch Bar, it was a go. Lic arrived early and checked us in, as they wait until the whole party is present to seat you, y'all know I had to hurry up as I was coming from the other end of Ga. Ha. Once I arrived, we were seated and told our server would be with us shortly. A few minutes after being seated, KeKe arrived at our table and greeted us then took our drink order. My friend chose this place for our Saturday brunch. I've passed it tons of times and just never made it inside. Today was very special as there was the Juneteenth Freedom Day celebration. The street was blocked off with entertainment and vendors selling in O'Neal Square. When I arrived the hostess asked how many and said we can seat ourselves. There were plenty of open tables so that was easy. I was greeted by my server who brought menus and took my drink order. For the special occasion, there was a $4 mimosa and $7 margarita special. The drinks were served quickly and very tasty. For brunch we ordered the shrimp and grits and the salmon croquettes plate. The food came out fast, was a great presentation and tasted great. The restaurant was busy, there was a group celebrating their birthday, music and the garage doors were open for lots of fresh air. They kept tables cleaned and everyone had a smile on their face. I feel like the shrimp and grits ingredients were quickly prepped and placed to the side and thrown together for a dish. The shrimp had the tails on it which was annoying. The waffle did not have that rich red velvet taste to it. It could have been a waffle with red dye and I wouldn't have been surprised. I saw comments about the chicken ahead of time and it turns out that they are too small. A filet would be better than wings but that's me. The girl next to us was complaining to the server about no rice on the menu. The restaurant was more on the empty quiet side. The floor is uneven so our table slanted. We found this spot on our way back to our car and We simply asked if they had special hours for Labor Day and they informed us they were closing we did show up after 4- we saw a few people dining and didn't think it would hurt to ask. we were set on leaving we didn't want to inconvenience anyone and they were like we could still come in they didn't mind taking us. All around A+ ...Food so good you'd go out of your way for it with service that doesn't make you think twice about doing so! This was our first visit, and it made me consider reasons to work downtown to eat there more often. The menu had so many interesting options that it made it hard to choose. We narrowed it down to the oxtail sandwich and a grilled chicken omelette and were very pleasantly surprised at the presentation, amount, and quality. When I say I want an omelette, this is what I mean! When you want a homemade biscuit and not some frozen brick, this is what you are looking for. We ate until we couldn't take another bite and had some to bring home! But it didn't stop with the food, the restaurant was relaxed with open spacing and big garage windows to enjoy the daylight. Our waitress, Shae, should train other waitresses because she did everything right...from immediate welcome to prompt service and friendly convo to good balance of attentive but not disruptive. We haven't had a meal lately in general without something being "off" or overpriced or poor service, but this was literally all good things and no complaints. I was really hoping to support this local restaurant but was thoroughly disappointed. If you're used to "fine dining", this is not the place for you. I reluctantly ordered the Seafood Omelette. Not only did it NOT look like the other Yelp pics, they used mini-overcooked-shrimp like the kind you would find on salads. And, the omelette was loaded with cheese to compensate for the lack of seafood and "Cajun sauce". My wife had the Chicken & Waffles. She was pleased with the chicken but the waffles were freezer burnt. Lastly, according to my wife, the ladies restroom had a very unpleasant odor and poor ventilation. It's another brunch spot!! Ok so it's quite a few popular brunch spots in this same area so parking can be a challenge. Once we parked we walked a little bit to get to the restaurant but nothing major. I was a few mins late so I joined my brunch group who were already seated. We did make a reservation and party of 6 or more gratuity is 18%. It's a nice vibe the music was questionable at times but for the most part the atmosphere is great. Our waiter was ok he seemed flustered with the amount of people in our party. We kept having to ask for things like utensils and I never did get my glass of ice water ‍. Anyhoo the food made up for all that! Everything was delicious and hot! Oh and I must say I really enjoyed my cocktail it's called a red bottom it was really good! The ambience is nice and very welcoming, but service was slow. The waitress wasn't very attentive and didn't visit the table as much as she should to refill drinks, bring checks, etc. Food was not all brought to the table at once and by the time the main plate was presented, the sides were cold. Prices were reasonable but the price on the menu didn't match my check which was concerning. I asked for a manager and was told they are getting updated menus (see photos). Service is a bit slow especially if the place is packed (like it usually is on weekends) so make sure to allot at least 1.5-2 hours for your overall dining experience. When I walked in, the place was very nice and clean and the music was a nice vibe for a Monday morning. The waitress was very nice and she made sure our drinks were refreshed as needed. I had the wing plate with eggs and cheese grits. My guest had the salmon croquettes with eggs. Everything on my plate tasted excellent. The eggs were good, the wings were on point and the grits had a nice flavor to them. But, the hidden gem on the plate was the biscuit. The biscuit was soft, buttery, and honey glazed. I love the open, spacious dining hall that is flooded with natural light from the huge picture windows. Due to it being a Thursday, week day- there was only one server doing everything(serving, bartending, taking orders, clearing tables) I do understand a shortage in workers but she needed help. Her service was very pleasant, to clearly have much to do, she did not carry the pressure. I was rushed to order as soon as I sat down because the kitchen was "closing soon," which was frustrating and unprofessional. The music was so loud it was hard to have a conversation, creating an uncomfortable dining atmosphere. After waiting nearly a hour for my food, it arrived cold, and the chicken was visibly undercooked with red, raw areas. When I expressed concern, the manager insisted they had "checked the temperature" and argued that it was fully cooked -- despite clear evidence to the contrary. Several menu items were unavailable, and the staff made no effort to offer substitutions. When I asked to speak with the manager, she was rude and dismissive. Both she and the waitress were combative rather than apologetic. To make matters worse, they still added a mandatory gratuity to my bill despite the poor service and unsafe food. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Between the loud environment, bad food, lack of professionalism, and unwillingness to take responsibility, I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
