I hate to write this because I used to be a regular at The Kitchen, but after not visiting for a couple of months, it's clear the quality has gone downhill. We ordered our usual: fried jumbo shrimp for me and my husband, and a bacon smash burger for my son. The "jumbo" shrimp were anything but jumbo. They were small, closer to popcorn shrimp, which feels like false advertising. The burger was also noticeably smaller than it used to be and, to make matters worse, it was missing the bacon entirely and the rest of the toppings were wrong as well. I understand food costs may have increased, but I would rather pay more than see quality and accuracy decline. This was a big disappointment, and we won't be back. read more

Brunch for me today brought me to this spot. Initially, the location may through you off if you are looking for a fancy spot to go to, but if you are looking for Good southern style food and Great service, then this is the spot. I had the country fish breakfast, which included two Large flounder fillets, eggs and grits. The food came out hot (even after waiting about 10 minutes after I sat down); everything is cooked to order and fresh. The flounder was EXCELLENT and so full and flaky, with a nice crunch. The grits were perfect- you know the grits are good when you eat them with a fork. Had a strawberry mimosa and water to wash things down. The large quantity of food really filled me up so that I had to take some of my flounder home with me. The service was GREAT! The people are so friendly from the moment you walk in. This place is a hidden gem! It's a smaller restaurant, but the flavor is massive! The whole family loves everything we got! My daughter ordered the pancakes and we all tasted. We have gone on record....they might just be the best we've ever had. Fiancé got the flounder sandwich, he loved it! My son got the chicken tenders with a side of their hot honey sauce...blown away. Now you know!!! On Sundays in Atlanta, we Brunch!!!! As such, this Sunday we ended up at The Kitchen Bar & Grill in Douglasville. The location is off in the cut but I promise it's super easy to find. Parking is kind of tight so I would suggest carpooling if you are going in a group. As you walk up, the artwork that fills the windows is absolutely stunning. The visuals set the mood for what you are about to experience inside before you even know it. As you open the door, your eyes are immediately drawn to the artwork that is inside as well. The space is super small, however, they have made great dimensional use of the space, just prepare to not have too much elbow room. Immediately as we stepped into the establishment, the staff greeted us with a warm welcome. As it was Sunday, the usual menu is closed out and the day is taken over by the All You Can Eat Soul Food. Give me that ham and let me take it home. Whoever made that meat understood the art of a well balanced Brown Sugar rub to balance out the porkness of the Ham. (My pork eaters understand me.).. The meat was juicy, tender, and bomb. I'm not gone lie, I'm go back for the ham alone. Ha. The Collards were REAL. These ain't no canned greens. Somebody's aunt made these after she chopped them with her hood knife. Yes Lorddddddd. The greens were Greenin how they should be. The baked Salmon was disrespectfully good. It wasn't dry. It wasn't soggy. Whoever made this salmon went to salmon school and they got an A++. Ooh chile!!!!! I'm having flashbacks bout how good the Salmon was. The cornbread muffins were soft and buttery. Hubby and I were in there Saturday Sept 6 for breakfast food was delicious but but but lol they were out of champagne so no mimosas they were out of tartar sauce for my delicious hot fish and sold the last banana pudding the night before not a complaint just an observation but I did tell our nice waitress the next time we come in to please have the items mentioned I said it in love not being mean we love supporting black business and we will definitely be back real soon read more

Flew into the ATL and stopped by here after searching YELP. So glad we did! My guy ordered the three wing plate with green beans and baked beans. I only ordered a side of man n cheese. The food was delicious and piping hot and enough to share. The chicken was made to order and so flavorful. I loved everything, including the service! If I could offer a suggestion for improving, I would suggest lowering the music just a tad because the space is small and a little less sugar in the tea or offer a tea with no sugar. The ambiance was nice ,very clean , and nice art on the wall which shows Harlem renaissance . Music was a nice touch , and service was amazing by Ciara .
