I found this restaurant when I wanted a place on Cinco de Mayo but never got to try. I've been wanting to try and glad I did. I got to have happy hour margaritas and they were good. I haven't had pozole in a long time so I had to try, and it was very good! I wanted cerviche but they didn't have ready! I asked if I could mix and match my tacos and it was allowed so I wanted carnitas and chorizo, but they didn't have chorizo! Since I wanted spicy waiter recommend tinga de pollo. They were excellent! One of my kind-of-burger to go to. Please be careful for you who are specific about their meat, they do medium-rare more on the rare side. I always go with medium to be sure I will enjoy my meal. My fav: truffle burger, hatch burger and their sweet potato fries BUT as tell them to put the sauce on the side otherwise it will be to soggy and blaaaah. This is for the lunch delivery. We had ordered around 12pm, from the lunch menu..I ordered the regular beef burrito, I say regular because you can also have it fried. The food came in a decent amount of time. The burrito was not bad. It came with a small garnish of greens. I would have wished there was more pico de gallo to it, on the side, with the salad. A big plus for giving guacamole, even though it was a small amount given in a container mixed with some sour cream. It wasn't bad for $8.95 with a can of soda on the side... The bar is filled with dozens of tequilas and their boasts any impressive selection of margaritas I opted for the mezcal margarita which is a fixed drink - not an alcoholic smoothie. For starters, we shared the guacamole. It was made without tomatoes, so I found the raw onions to be too assertive. We were also served a tomato sauce like salsa which has pleasant flavors derived from peppers. Both were good with the chips. I had Ropa Vieja for my main entree which was pulled skirt steak with rice and brown beans. The steak was delicious. It was tender and earthy; it was very stew like. What a great gem in the Bay Ridge area! Great atmosphere with awesome service! My friend wanted to try this place since he lives in the neighborhood. We came here around 7 and unfortunately, the tables were full. This place isn't that big, perhaps around 6 tables? However, they sat us at the bar area and got us started with drinks, which is great service! I ordered the El Bulldog, which is a frozen margarita with a flipped coronita. I always wanted to try these kinds of drinks because they looked so cool. I'm glad I did because it was pretty goood! I would definitely recommend that drink! After a couple of minutes, they were able to seat us at the tables. I'm glad the wait wasn't too long because I was super hungry! For appetizers, we of course ordered the fried calamari (being the calamari lovers that we are). Calamari is always so good! For entrees, I ordered the chicken tinga quesadillas and it was soooo goood! I'm glad I didn't ordered a huge entree because the calamari filled me right up. My friend ordered the burrito and it also looked good. I would definitely recommend the quesadillas! At the end, we decided to get the chocolate flan that everyone was talking about. So glad we did! Had their corn on the cobb, ground beef blue agave nachos, el acuatico taco, and pernil platter. The corn on the cobb is good but really spicy. Felt like my tongue was on fire. The order of nachos was really big. It was flavorful and very satisfying. The el acuatico taco was ok. Tasted fresh. The pernil platter was flavorful and have you craving more of the pork. We ate outside due to COVID-19 dining restrictions. They pulled another table out onto the sidewalk to accommodate us. Paper menus, no tablecloths, no little candles.. Low key chic.. All this being said, the food & service, was pretty awesome! Keep all the fancy decor, a good dining experience should be all about, the service, the food. Promptly seated, we had our mojito & margarita faster than your favorite barrista. They offer a salty chili rim dip for the margaritas. Get it. Although the mojito is my go to, was super flavorful with the fresh lime & mint, and definitely picture worthy, the margarita with the chili rim dip, just complimented to food SO well, It was my beverage of choice for the rest of the evening. We started off with the grilled octopus, & the platter of nachos, which we added grilled vegetables and the grilled steak. Octopus portion itself was a bit small visually, but so was the price paid, so no complain there. It's grilled, served up nicely on potato medallions, topped with spices & herbs, garnished with lemon wedges. We really enjoyed it, and was enough for each of us to have 2 servings. The nachos weren't your typical bar food special. This was legit, high end restaurant quality ingredients assembled onto a plate. When you are finding multiple layers of cheese & ingredients, within the tortilla chip levels OF the platter, you know the time & care taken to assemble your dish. It was wonderfully garnished with a huge dollop of guac atop. I definitely see these nachos as future order must have. We rounded out the evening with Molle Enchiladas, and a portion of Pernil. Both quality, solid choices. Molle sauce was very nice, rich taste of the cocoa coming out. Both came with huge side portions of black beans, and rice, also good. We took home a bag. The service was on point. Many places could take a lesson from here. The servers allowed up to spend time talking, enjoying the evening's food & beverages without pressure. Our entrees came to the table when we had finished the apps. Our drinks never went dry. Complimentary Tequilas to end our visit. Great evening out, will definitely be back. Definitely a hidden gem in Bay Ridge! I have been eyeing Blue Agave for a while now and finally got to try this today. The restaurant is not big, very small, cozy and blue lights everywhere. They play some really upbeat Spanish music that has you dancing in your seats. Overall, a great atmosphere for groups. As soon as we were seated, we were asked if we wanted any Guacamole and Chips ($9)...well sure why not? The guac was very chunky but it was lacking some acidity. I got the Pernil with Rice and Beans ($13)- the pork was really, really tender and flavorful (spicy tomato-y) but a little on the salty side. Loved the rice and beans, oddly my favorite part. My boyfriend got the Chicken Fajitas ($14) which came with chicken breast over a bed of peppers and onions on a sizzling plate, 3 warm tortillas, rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream. He had fun getting hands on with his food. The only downside was that the chicken got dry as it cooled down but...I'm gonna blame that on the chicken itself hah. For drinks, he got the Mandarin Jarrito ($3) and I had the Frozen Mango Margarita ($9) with a chili salt rim. The margarita had a really fresh mango taste and I tasted some little mango pieces here and there, so safe to say they do use real fruit! All in all, great prices, great food, great service!! Boyfriend and I decided to take a break from our usual Mexican place, Las Margaritas, and ventured.. across the street. If you're nearby and looking for the restaurant, just keep your eyes peeled for a Sea Blue Awning. You can't miss it. Between the two of us, we ordered the Mango Ceviche, Mini Steak Empanadas, Pernil with Rice and Beans, and a Choco Flan. Overall, we enjoyed all of it but our favorite was the pernil with rice and beans. We were hesitant to order the pulled pork for fear of dryness but it came out so soft and juicy - I think this was the dish that sealed the four star rating for me. Small but minor complaints include too little fish in the Ceviche (although it was very refreshing and satisfying as a 'salad'), and a dessert that was overpowered by chocolate - we like flan as is and didn't love the spin put to this dessert. Still, these imperfections won't keep me away - I would love to try their drinks and other dishes, including the guacamole and the giant appetizer plate. read more

I just left this restaurant because I wanted a nice huevos rancheros brunch and I remember coming here before in the past and enjoying the brunch. Mind you I never leave reviews after just one visit. I need a feel for the places. However this morning I came back for a second visit and wanted to order the huevos rancheros breakfast that I woke up craving. So I start with planing an extra order of the beef empanadas to start and from here I try to place an order for my 3yo daughter. I didn't want any of the fried foods on the menu. So I asked if I could order and PAY for a side of grilled chicken so I could pair it with rice and beans for her. Well the server went back to the kitchen to ask the cook if he could do it. And clearly he didn't want to so I wasn't able to give my daughter a better alternative rather than fried chicken strips and whatever other fried foods they had on the menu. So I simple took my business across the street where they found a solution for me. Across the street at Las margaritas, I literally just ordered my daughter two chicken tacos with a side of rice and beans. However with the chicken tacos I told them to keep the tortillas because I literally only need the grill chicken now here I am across the street enjoying my way to roast breakfast and my daughter is eating a better lunch. You would think that all the competition with Uber eats GrubHub and everything else out there you would try to cater to someone who came to your restaurants sat down put an appetizer order in drink and so on. This place is hurting for business, but you can't tell by the service. Even during the Bay Ridge Boost Saturdays, the two guys working couldn't take longer to make margaritas... on a Saturday... when the restaurant needs customers... margaritas. Have been here many times the last couple of years and am never disappointed by my meal. The service is great and for the warmer months they have a great backyard seating area, which many places lack in this neighborhood. They also have a great brunch menu, which makes it a great spot for almost any time of the day. The shrimp tacos and vegetables fajitas are some of my favorite go to menu items that are consistently great. Found this place last weekend when we were looking for a dinner spot on Saturday. We made a reservation on OpenTable and when we got there, we got seated right away (albeit there weren't many tables filled). We decided to sit outside and it was pretty cute! There was a house party going on next door and the vents were making a lot of noise so it was kind of loud but c'est la vie. We ordered a (giant) pitcher of Passionfruit Margarita, nachos, steak fajitas, and shrimp fajitas. The nachos were OK but we didn't add any meat so it was definitely a bit lacking. I was a little disappointed with out experience here the other day. This was my favorite spot. I used to order out from here all the time before Covid and its my go to restaurant when family or friends are in town but I am not sure I will go back anytime soon. The waiter was super rude to us and we didn't get drinks or even water for a really long time. So long it came when the food did. Another table noticed the rudness of the waiter. We mentioned it to him and he seemed to pick up the pace but it was a little too late for that. Then strangly at the end he kept coming by with things like napkins when are food was already gone. I get that he might of been having a bad day but I'm turned off from the place. Bad vibes with everything going on I would like to spend the experiences I do at places that welcome me.
