This was a great experience. Love love loved our food. My sister had the avocado tacos and I had the adobo pork burrito. Both were amazing. We loved it. Is definitely go again. Service was good, nothing to really Bragg about but not bad, but could've been a little more attentive. Margaritas were really good and they didn't spare the tequila. To be blunt, this is a gluten free persons heaven. Most Mexican places are easily gluten free, but Blue Agave marks everything on their menu. Gluten free or can be gluten free... amazing! It made ordering a breeze and probably saves time for the wait staff too. Salsa was "meh", but my carnitas street tacos were incredible. So much flavor without being overpowering. We live in the area, so this has become a local go-to restaurant. We've brought visitors here often and it has been consistently great. The house margarita is usually on special and quite good. Staff is really friendly with top-notch service. When the weather is right, the patio is a great place to be and puts you in touch with the urban environment on 16th street. read more

Stopped by here last night and really enjoyed the drinks and food. On Sundays they have $5 sangria which was a great deal and you can order any flavor you like. They also provide you with free chips and salsa which is always a plus. I had the teriyaki salmon for dinner and it was one of the best salmon meals I've had! Highly recommend this spot! read more

Service was friendly, but the food was not very good and was most definitely overpriced for the quality. The location, and that they have a bar is why this place is in business - it's not because the food is good. If you really want to go here, you should get a drink and move along for food at another restaurant. read more

Eating on the 16th street mall I didn't expect much. We ended up going here because of traffic +Louis CK show. Traffic made us miss our earlier restaurant reservation. Walking in I had huge doubts. The place was virtually empty (which may factor in to how long it will last). We sat and got our chips, salsa, and quac (solid choice) My wife and I both had yelp apps so we checked in for the margarita. I got the fish taco (w/mango) and was disappointed to find it came on four tortilla (blasphemy). Yet overall the food was tasty - but not exceptional Mexican At the end of the day I'd say it is a okay choice but I wouldn't drive out of my way for this place. read more

This is my new favourite place!! The food was sooo good!! And very nice service too. My hubby and I came here for lunch on a Monday, it wasn't too busy right around noon so we gave it a go - very pleased. Being a Mexican inspired menu, you get chips and salsa to start and if you check in on yelp you get a free margarita!! I'm not sure if it was just me or if I got a super alcoholic Marg but it kicked my ass! Glad I had the day off work because I was buzzing! Really tasty too. Food, I got the fish tacos and hubby got salmon and Brussels sprouts entree. Both were super delicious! Then we splurged and had a coconut blonde to share, it was amazing, very morish. The space is very pretty with a contemporary Southwestern feel. We were greeted and seated immediately, but I was turned off when handed a menu with a big splotch of food on it. I was really turned off when I unwrapped my silverware from the napkin and found the knife and both forks covered with a thick layer of grease. It seemed like the dishwasher had not been run through the full cycle or sufficient detergent had not been used. I asked for a replacement and received silverware with only a thin layer of grease. I gave up at this point and cleaned the implements off with my napkin. I really should have left, but I was with a guest. I hope the health inspector gives this place a thorough look on his or her next visit. The lunch menu is huge with a mix of small plates, salads, and soups, many meat and fish dishes, vegetarian options, tacos, pasta, and burgers. Warm chips with a very nice salsa came out right after the menus. The waitress was a little pushier than I really liked, trying repeatedly to get us to order drinks and an appetizer. We passed. I had the Blue Agave Fish Tacos and my friend tried the Coconut Shrimp Tacos. The plates that came out were very pretty with the tacos perched on a special rack that held them together. We both thought our tacos were very tasty. The various sauces really brought out the flavors. Each plate also came with flavorful portions of rice and beans. We enjoyed our food, but I would have enjoyed the experience more if the other details had not been amiss. read more

Blue Agave Grill was founded in Fort Collins in 2014. This concept was created by Northern Colorado restauranteurs Richard and Brenda Lucio. This is their 5th restaurant since 1999. Top notch customer service and quality produced out of their scratch kitchens have been the keys to their success.

Meet the Business Owner: Richard L.

Richard and Brenda Lucio have been operating restaurants for over 30 years and have owned their own since 1999. Growing up in the restaurant industry, world travels, and their love for food, are the origins in which they created this unique concept. From high school sweethearts to husband and wife, these two have created jobs for over 400 people between 5 restaurants. They have never forgotten where they came from, staying true to family recipes, supporting the local communities, and delivering quality food and even better service. No tap beer, the bartender broke a glass behind the bar and didn't clean it up the entire time I was there, but she kept kicking the glass aside every time she walked over it. Some glass got on the counter and in with some other "clean" glasses. They were also out of wine selections as well. I ordered the stuffed poblano and my shrimp were still raw upon arrival. The plate was taken back to the kitchen and returned with the same outcome. Raw TRANSLUCENT shrimp. When the tall skinny I'm better than you manager arrived, he said "I had my chef look over the dish and the shrimp are cooked." I said, "they are still translucent," and showed him. He then with a smirk said: "They are smaller shrimp." So that makes them not raw? To his candor he didn't charge me for the drink I had or the meal I didn't have that day for lunch. I've never had less than legendary dinning experience over the past 8 years visiting this diamond in the rough as of late I've noticed certain personnels painful attempts in vain to make an example out of me with no regard for the one thing we all try to maintain collectively that being one's liberty to express ourselves without prejudice including when a lapse in judgement occurs, aren't we afforded the chance to make amends? possibly leading up to if necessary a private moment to remind a person of basic principles in dining etiquette without furthering insult to injury. I' Am starting a sabbatical in response to the fact that even though Blue Agave Grill is not a dining experience you want to miss, I was left with the foul-less taste in my mouth upon my recent visit and I've lost respect in the situation. read more

More people need to know about this restaurant. It's seriously a hidden gem! Anytime I have a special occasion this is the place I want to go to. The restaurant itself looks very upscale, but has a casual, down to earth vibe. The food is amazing, and the wine list is extensive. Personally the fajitas are my favorite, but I have yet to try a bad thing on the menu. Each time I've been the service has been strong. Staff members are friendly and good at their job. They are always on top of water and chip refills and are knowledgeable about the many options on the menu. The location is prime being right on 16th street. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!!! read more

Everytime I ordered the server would wait fifteen minutes to come back to tell me I should get the steak roja and that I couldn't have the item due to an allergy to onions I had mentioned. I ordered three separate times with a fifteen minute wait inbetween each to finally order the steak roja and then it came out and it was not good, I also did not get my drink order for atleast 30 minutes. I left very frustrated and definitely hungry because the three slivers of steak roja certainly was not enough. I definitely would not want to dine here again after that aweful experience read more

This place sucks. Everything tasted old and it's insanely expensive for the same food you can get at Chipotle and RIO. They have zero business and obviously can't afford fresh ingredients. The owner Brenda was a complete snob about everything. I even found a hair in my taco. I hear they have a 10 years lease. LOL. Trust me this is a bad bad place that will steal your hard earned money. We had an amazing experience at Blue Agave, and a big part of that was our server, Lulu! She was fun, friendly, and incredibly efficient throughout our meal. She made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down, kept everything running smoothly, and had such a positive attitude that made the whole experience even better.
