Overall not bad. Was worried from how empty it looked but this is also a slow time when I get my lunch (around 330) Chips and the three salsas are tasty I rather liked that aspect. Menu isn't bad not hurt but not small either. Service even for slow time was prompt and friendly. Food, came quickly but at looking at it I don't see why it shouldn't, the chicken was not in huge pieces that would take long to cook at all, which I think that other reviewer is silly now since I could see the chicken on the grill for my food. Good food but poor service. They didn't seem understaffed, but unorganized. Our table had two waiters and both seemed to shun our table. We didn't have chips and salsa more often than we did, they forgot about a beer order, happy hour discounts were not applied to check, and service was slow in general. Awful service waited almost one hour for queso that was boring and tasteless, will not be back

On Sunday, 7/23/2017 at 8:32pm I called Blue Agave to check their hours and was told they were open till 9:30pm. I was about 10 minutes away so I told them I was on my way there. I arrive only to find the doors are locked. I call the restaurant back and am told they are closed. I referred them to my call just a few minutes earlier but was told they have already closed the kitchen. I asked to speak with a manager and informed him of the situation but that didn't change the fact they had already "closed the kitchen". Customer satisfaction must be on the very low end of their priorities. There were 16 in my party that night, so Blue Agave missed out on all of that business and one of the couples with us told me this same thing happened to them two weeks earlier. They showed up an hour before their listed closing time only to find the place closed. The sad thing is the food here is really good but it is not worth the hassle of not knowing if they are going to be open or not and if this is how they treat people, I want nothing to do with supporting this business. It was just ok. I was with a group, the Mexican music blasting in the back room and we were screaming over each other.. I felt like it was Cinco de Mayo, in a bad way. The margaritas were over iced and looked like the came out of a punch machine. Honestly, I sampled a few things at the table and it wasn't bad, maybe I am just not a Mexican food person. The homemade guac was so spicy no one could eat it, and there were 4 buckets(?) on the table. I had quesadillas and they were kinda dry, a taco was brought to the table in error and I ate and it just wasn't great. The waitress was sweet but she had too many tables. First time trying this place out since I work in the area. I placed an order online with them for a kids meal that had stated on the website it would be TWO quesadillas with my choice of chicken or beef. Since there was nothing to select one from the other I put in the notes chicken. I had also paid for cheese dip because that's what I was most interested in trying. And had also gotten a side of rice. When I returned back to work and opened the bag to start eating, I look in the bag to find ONE quesadilla. With no chicken in it. As well as my rice, a bag of chips, and SALSA. No queso. And biting into my quesadilla was cold. As well as the rice. My gf and I came here by accident on a Thursday night after a Women's Conference at Faith Life Church in Johnstown. We took the wrong exit looking for a local Italian spot we've been to before, but decided to go Mexican since we were hungry - best mistake we could've made. The service is spot on. The food is served quick. The ingredients are super fresh. The ambience is fun. The bathrooms are clean. I had the ceviche appetizer and the table side guac - both superb. Horrible food. The food comes out so fast that the only way they could that is by microwave! Food doesn't taste fresh, chicken a bit slimy for lack of better word. I thought long and hard before deciding how many stars to give this place but the difference between 2 and 3 was just too wide in my mind. 3 salsas to start was OK, nothing earth shattering and DH and I agree that 2 of them were the same. Tableside quac is hit or miss depending on your server and his heavy hand (or not) on the spices. Ours was WAY too salty and with salty chips...YIKES! I also elected to delete the tomatoes in our guac so that in itself might have soaked up some of the salt he dropped in. Chile rellenos stuffed with potatoes? what an option! and no thanks, went with the cheese, YES thank you! and it was breaded not the traditional separated then joined egg coating...not that bad. Then the beef burrito came...here again heavy on the salt...too heavy in my opinion, I could not eat it. DH didn't think it was too salty so I took it home. The third incarnation of a Mexican restaurant at this location and by far the worst. It was very crowded when we went in so obviously people like it but I'm convinced that if you like Mexican food in Columbus, you may be loco in the cabeza. I got the enchiladas supreme with 4 enchiladas (chicken, cheese, beef and bean) with a mixed salad as my only side so I figured they had to be pretty big if they think you can only fit in a salad after eating them. He got some chicken dish to make tacos from. They brought the food in lightning speed which is a red flag for us. That usually means pre-made. The enchiladas were appetizer size and they put the mixed salad "side" on TOP of the enchiladas!!! Uh, thanks a lot! So I scraped the wilted salad off of the enchiladas and tried each one. The cheese was standard and the best of the four. The bean was HORRIBLE. It tasted like they dumped a ton of cinnamon in them and that was just awful. The hubby didn't like it either and said the beef tasted the same way and I agreed so neither of those enchiladas got eaten. The chicken enchilada was dry and relatively tasteless but I ate it anyway because I was hungry. The hubby said his chicken dish was dry on its own but with all of the toppings to make the soft tacos, it helped make up for it but said he wouldn't need to go back again. We weren't overly thrilled with the server either as he always seemed to have somewhere more important to be and we both got the feeling he was a supervisor or manager. Guac is made fresh table-side for you and he adjusts the heat level with or sans jalapeño. Shrimp quesa was outstanding- not typical cheese fest, as this one is a fork and knife with creamy filling and over a dozen big shrimp. Making fresh tortillas in the front of the dining room and they are fresh! Busy place but plenty of staff to keep the tables turning to get people in the seats. read more

The only thing that saved it was the decent food - - the second time around. Our waiter was rude and overcharged us. My fish tacos were nasty and when they replaced it with a less expensive dish they charged me for the tacos and lied about the price. I went to Blue Agave in New Albany for the first time tonight. The margaritas and food were great! The service, however, was not. From the beginning, our server was unfriendly and short with us. My friend and I were friendly and wondering why she seemed so upset with us. I wouldn't recommend Blue Agave on service alone. read more
