    Dirty martini
    John G.

Dropped in for a couple of drinks and a quick bite after walking around Gettysburg. Bartender was friendly and the place had an old timey feel. Celebrating my birthday so had a dirty martini and asked for extra olives.... and he came through with the extra olives. Decided to soak up the alcohol with pretzels and marinara sauce. The pretzel was ok but the vibe and friendliness of the staff and locals made it a fun stop.

The Pub & Restaurant compensates for its lack of creativity in name with good food. The Grimster's Diablo was tasty and a butt ton of food (also great name!). I wish it was spicier, but it is Gettysburg so there aren't too many people who grew up eating as much spicy food as my people.

    Tomato bisque

The server we had was very kind, no disrespect to her. The table smelled like a sidewalk after rain with a few dead worms lying about. The food took a long time to come out, and all six guests at our table decided the tomato bisque was WAY too sweet. Borderline dessert. We ordered the Cobb salad and it was okay, cheaped out on toppings but alright. If you want to go to a tourist restaurant with mediocre food, this is your place.

First time here. We sat on the Bar / High Table side. Very cozy atmosphere. Beer and cocktail prices were in my opinion very reasonable. More so given the Pub's location. We started off with the Poutine which was enough for a table of four. Mrs had the Chili and I had the French onion. Both good. The chili came out screaming hot. She got a bowl and only managed to finish half of it. Nice spot

PROS: the food tasted good and the staff was very nice. There were enough places to sit and no wait for dinner believe it or not. Menu variety was good and you had the option to eat outside. CONS: the prices were a bit high on some items. Like $20 for ten wings. OVERALL: despite some items being expensive I would still recommend coming here

    Clam chowder

My server was THE BEST. I wish I could remember her name, all I can tell you is she took care of me in the outdoor section on Friday 8/19 at probably 8-9pm. She's married to another staff member (cute pub couple!). Loved her. She was just so sweet and friendly. The clam chowder was very tasty and different since it has hard boiled egg and is a spin on the New England classic. I'd definitely recommend it and order it again. This is a cute spot - probably not a 5 star because nothing about it is life changing, but certainly better than its current rating.

Delicious!!! Stopped by for lunch, and we were not at all disappointed. Large portions and the service from our waitress Hannah was wonderful! We will be retuning!

    Chocolate Torte cake

Great food and service! Wife had the original burger and sweet potato fries and she enjoyed them. I had the meatloaf. It was good, just what I had hoped for. For dessert we took something home to share ( the triple chocolate tort). It was really good, but the size was just ridiculous (think it would feed four!)

We always are cheerfully greeted, and we are seated immediately because it was right after lunch and right before the dinner rush and we sat in the bar area on a high top and it worked out perfectly. Our server was outstanding. She came over got our drink order and if we wanted any appetizers which we did not get this time, but let me just say their appetizers are to kill for they are outstanding. As you can see in the photos, the burgers are done right they are nice and juicy and the toppings are just right in the buns are so fresh. It's crazy. So if you're in the Gettysburg Square area, we highly and I mean highly recommend stopping in here for either a burger or one of their other options which are all really good food well prepare prepared.

Because we were going out to dinner in a couple hours we just shared an appetizer and ordered flights. We ordered the large pretzel with pub cheese and it was really great. Pretzel seemed like it was made with fresh dough and it the buttery, saltiness just made it exactly what we wanted. I felt bad for the cooks and bartenders as the place was super busy, but it was a really fun vibe, and great service for how packed they were. It's clean and dark and warm. I wasn't expecting a Cheers welcome but we weren't even created when we walked in. The hostess was at her stations all the way inside the bottom floor. The hostess was polite when we approached and sat us upstairs per our request. That's where the spell of the place evaporated. We sat about 10-15 minutes before our server made it to us. (The place was not busy outside of the bar down stairs. When she asked us what we wanted to drink my friend ordered I said "I need a second what do you recommend between...." she interrupted and said "I'll be back." It took 20 minutes to come back with his drink (Guinness in a warm beer glass) I asked for water, she didn't acknowledge me and walked away. I tried to get her attention for the next 20 minutes so we could order. She would walk past us. I tried to flag her down again nothing. After about 40 minutes she came back to take our order. We were still hoping to turn the trip around as we were excited about the menu. We ordered the shelpards pie potato skins, a bowl of cream of crab soup, a steak and the bangers stew. By the time our food made it to us we had been sitting almost an hour and a half. The soup was amazing. It was hot it was tasty the crab was forward, I really enjoyed it. The skins were mid. Some were over cooked some were just right. All of them were cold. It seemed like they were pre cooked and frozen to be reheated later. The steak was over cooked and all but flavorless. The potatoes were just wet mashed potatoes. And the beans were equally as bland. Non of it was hot. The bangers stew was... Almost edible. The potatoes. Good, onions and carrots and meat. All tasty on their own. The sauce though was ungodly sweet. So sweet that it made the rest inedible. All in all we were there for almost 2 hours. We were $91 into our tab. By the time the food came, we asked for our ticket and some boxes. We tried a few bites and left. I probably won't ever go back.

The pub is in the basement of the Federal Pointe Inn hotel, which was historically a schoolhouse. There are cool old class pictures of the former students all around the pub. (When I was there, someone was visiting whose father had actually been a student and she had fun looking for him in all of the old pictures.) The layout is long and narrow, which gives four options for seating: the bustling bar scene, a more formal dining room with around 10 tables, a private dining room with a single long dining table... ...and an anti-social hallway with bar service and a few tables, perfect for when you've had a long day on the road and don't particularly want to socialize with anyone but still want to know that other people are alive. I loved it... I had a chicken caesar wrap (minus bacon - didn't need it) which was delicious, along with the best grilled asparagus I've ever eaten, and a glass of wine to sip while unwinding. The service from the bartender was friendly and attentive, but unhurried. And he didn't make me feel guilty for not hanging out with everyone else at the bar. I would gladly return.
