I am always on a quest to find a small, local, quality restaurant that will surprise me. Blue Bistro is THAT place. Such a wonderful find! The food is fantastic, with lots of variety on the menu. It's popular with the locals, and tucked away, just off E. Main St. in Westminster. Today I had the Rachel (turkey) sandwich, and sweet potato fries. My friend had the Rare Roast Beef sandwich with potato salad. Both sandwiches were delectable, and the sweet potato fries and potato salad were incredible. You should probably skip a few meals before dining here, as the portions are generous, and everything is SO tasty! The staff is warm, efficient, and polite. I don't get here as often as I'd like but when I do, I'm always pleased with the quality of the food. My favorite is the salad trio (scoops of tuna, chicken, and shrimp salads on top of a garden salad). Their deli sides are very tasty too and I usually get a few to take home. I hadn't been in for quite sometime, but I wanted deli tuna. I was not disappointed. I also got a chopped salad, egg salad and cookies. The tuna was just what I had been craving. Blue Bistro is a great place for lunch. They use to be open for breakfast and sometimes dinner but now only open for lunch. The food is very good and freshly prepared. I really enjoy their grilled sandwiches like the Bronx, Reuben and Rachel sandwiches. Yesterday I tried the Gyro and was pleasantly surprised! It is very difficult to find a gyro in Westminster and this one was great. The only missing ingredient from the gyro was tsziki but the rest made up for a great gyro. I have not tried their soups but I am sure it is home made with fresh ingredients. We used Blue Bistro as a caterer for our daughters wedding. From outside there isn't really anything standoutish as it's located in a mini shopping center. But I think that's what makes it charming the basic subtleties of a good dining establishment not too much not too little. The inside is a mash up of deli and restaurant. A delirant or restaureli? Lol. You have the option of ordering to go or dining in. The deli menu is packed with different mouthwatering specialty/regular sandwiches which comes with a side. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the sandwiches as I am particular about things like that lol. I've had the pleasure of having two sandwiches from this place and they have made my top 5 best sandwiches place list. I ordered from them on two different occasions and both times I've fell in love lol. I've had a Cheese steak brisket and ham and cheese on a pretzel bun. Both of these sandwiches were filled with juicy deli styled meat and the fixings of that particular specialty. I definitely can handle my own but half a sandwich is my max lol. I tap out every time that's how much they fill it up. First time ordering you recieve a punch card. If you order 10 sandwiches I believe you will get a free one the next time. My dreams are bigger than that I'm trying to experience every sandwhich on their menu lol. The price is reasonable and worth the sandwich. The customer service is homely and efficient with maybe a 5-7 wait time for your order. Have been here twice now for the Bistro night and both times the food was great -- some of best prepared food I've had in Carroll County. Shrimp with a buerre blanc sauce and a Crab and spaghetti squash gratin both were stellar and unique preparations. Apps have been very good and the hole in one salad was amazing. This review is for a bistro night dinner on a Saturday evening. We went in for the 3 course for $30 bistro night menu. The food was outstanding. My seafood bisque, baltimore chicken, and creme brûlée were incredible. My girlfriend's Brussel sprout and tofu stir fry dish was delicious. Our main courses were complex and beautifully plated. The food would be worthy of attention in a trendy neighborhood in Baltimore. I can't say enough about the good things about the food. The atmosphere is a little odd. It's in a strip mall and the restaurant serves as a deli during the day. They dim the lights, but it feels like an odd setting for great food at $30 for a 3 course meal. Our waiter was very friendly, but we could tell (and he admitted later) that it was second day on the job. Didn't bother us at all; he was attentive and very nice, that's what matters to us. Price: The price is about what you would pay anywhere else for a sandwich with a side. I would say they are a little more expensive than the rest but worth it. Excellent sandwich/side place. Casual atmosphere, prices are a little on the high side, but the quality/quantity of food is worth it. Employees are always nice. Seriously I have never had an average or rude person help me here. Food is fresh and made according to order, I'm very picky and so far no one has messed up my sandwich! My only complaint other than prices being a little high and seeing a little nickel and dimey (whole sandwich, fries, and soft drink (no refills) was $12) which I am willing to pay for the small local business and consistently great food and service, is that there is slight inconsistency with whoever runs the register. I order the same thing every time and have been charged like three different prices. They never rush you, you have plenty of space to stretch out and work if necessary, and the music is low key. I have been in Westminster for 4 years and nobody could tell me where to get a good pastrami sandwich. I happened by blue bistro one day and saw they had pastrami on the menu. That alone excited me. The sandwich was alright, and the pasta salad was good, but nothing that blew me away, I was just happy to have the option. Blue Bistro is the perfect spot for lunch. When you arrive, you can order from a plethora of options at the counter. Usually, most sandwiches come with a pasta/fruit salad as a side, but you can substitute for french fries or chips if you would like. So far, I have tried their turkey sandwich and Harvest Salad, both of which are delicious! After ordering, you simply sit down at a table and they deliver your food right to you! I have been coming here for years. Firstly, i purchased 3 sandwiches which cost me $50. That is absurd but typically we get large and delicious sandwiches. I went to the register and handed over my rewards punch card for my free sandwich, only to be told they aren't cashing them in, but wait it gets better. They gave me another punch card and added the sandwiches to it... umm you aren't cashing them in but you are going to give me a new card? Whatever, so i paid and went home. I opened up the sandwhichs only to be even more disappointed. The sandwhichs were exponentially smaller then usual, and there was only 2 to 3 small slices of meat on them. The bread was thicker then the sandwich! So basically I just paid $50 for bread!!! I was a very loyal customer but after this, i will not be returning. read more

The food was fine--typical deli-type fare. I asked for tap water--50 cents showed up on the bill. I asked what it was for. It was for the tap water. I thought she was joking. No, she assured me they charge 50 cents for tap water. I said this is the first restaurant I've been to in over 60 years of dining that ever charged me for tap water. The response was that I must not have eaten in many restaurants because a lot of restaurants charge for tap water. Their food isn't so great that I can't go someplace else where I don't have to pay for tap water. Haven't been back. read more

If I could give a separate review for just the food, it would 5 stars hands down.Their greek salad with a scoop of tuna salad on top is my go to favorite and the Holla Chicken Wrap is to die for. The issue is a lot of times when you order, you get the wrong order, or it's missing something, or once on a delivery to our office the sandwich was burnt to the point it looked like charcoal. Our office would order once a week minimum but we stopped ordering so often due to this. We ended up having to call EVERY time we ordered because something was missing or wrong. We'd also have to order early in the day because we are almost always quoted over a hour each time. So if you do get what you ordered it will be delicious just fingers crossed its correct. read more

I absolutely love this place. I have been looking for a good sandwich shop in Carroll County forever. Some of my favorites are the 'Holla Chicken Wrap' & the 'Chicken Fiesta Wrap' (what can I say, I like chicken & wraps). Their Sundried Tomato & Parmesan Pasta is amazing! They have a lot of great vegetarian options for my friends who don't induldge in meat; basically they have something for everyone! I like how fresh everything seems and how friendly the staff is; it's my favorite place to take people who are from out of town. My sandwich was good, and the macaroni salad (included side) was ok. My issues is that beyond the basics, it is kind of strange here for a sandwich place. First, for the cost of the food I bought plus a drink, refills on soda should not cost more. This seemed a bit odd - just charge a bit more for a soda if people getting refills is an issue with profitability. The other odd thing was they they only had a choice of two kinds of chips. I would love to have bought chips in addition to my side (and my wife would have had chips for her side) but they just had plain old chips and barbecue chips. We get catering done for my work from blue bistro and the last two times have been wrong... Forgetting someone's tuna salad first time and this past week we ordered Cobb salads without croutons and onions with chicken. Well Cobb salads came with browning lettuce and croutons on it but no chicken. When we asked she said well I thought when you said no croutons you meant no chicken also. But there were croutons for two people with celiac disease and no protein so someone had to run to weis to get rotisserie chicken after we already had ordered and paid for it from blue bistro. No real apology at all or trying to fix the situation. Unfortunately for them we will use J cafe and giulinova from now on . I am ONLY Talking about BISTRO night. I have no idea how this place is as a deli mind you. Ok so lets talk the bad thing first. They NEVER put their menu for the Bistro nights up in a timely fashion. I don't mean that they wait until the last minute I mean that it is literally 1:00 today, Friday, and they STILL have last weekends Bistro Night menu up. Its very difficult to decide if you want to go and eat there and make plans with friends if you don't know what the menu is. Don't get me wrong, we all LOVE that the menu changes but for goodness sake, either hire someone to do your web management or type it in yourself! its not hard! The great thing about this place is that it IS always different! the food is good/great and the price is unbeatable. we love the BYOB and no corking fee. The food is so interesting and different the ambiance is neat too. honestly when we first walked up to the place a month or so ago I was thinking "what the heck are we getting into" but once you walk it its dimly lit with little white lights everywhere and a little fake fireplace is going and its quiet and not at all pretentious. just sweet and nice. read more

Dinners ARE 5 STARS! What hurt them a bit was the lunch. Not always the freshest meats and salads. They did not wash the lettuce. Guy used one glove but handled food with both. The dinners are fantastic and always the best ingredients. There is always something you will want, either fish, meat or vegan each weekend on the menu. We try to make it at least twice month. I like watching this place slowly evolve into a nice atmosphere. The walls are up to separate the deli. Oh my, did you know Blue Bistro is open for dinner during the week? If you're looking for a quick meal, this is a great place! My harvest salad was large,fresh and flavorful. I added chicken salad - mistake on my part, since it took away from the creamy goat cheese - next time I'll add grilled chicken for an even more delectable dinner. But it was so yummy I am still craving it now and looking forward to having it again soon. My daughter is gluten free and the chef made a point of coming into the dining room to ensure we knew there may be trace gluten in her food - so great to have a conscientious chef! I've ordered from blue bistro twice in the last week for the first time in years. The first time I ordered they told me my food would be 10 minutes so I get there at the 15 minute mark, my order isn't ready. I wait an additional 10 minutes and my order is finally ready. The second time I ordered they said 15 minutes, so I arrive in 25 minutes and they still haven't even started my food. I waited over 10 minutes for my food. The food is pretty good, but there is no reason why I should be waiting almost 40 minutes for a carry out order when I was told 15 minutes. Will not ordering from here anytime soon. read more

Blue Bistro has easily become one of my favorite restaurants in Westminster. I've always gone for sandwiches but just recently found out they have a weekend dinner menu! When I get carry out sandwiches for lunch or dinner some of my favorites are the holla chicken wrap, the pulled BBQ chicken sandwich that has melted cheese and coleslaw, or the shrimp salad. My husband I decided to try the dinner menu for our wedding anniversary celebration and it couldn't have been a better decision. Absolutely everything we ordered was top notch. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The dinner menu changes through the seasons so it will be nice to go back at least once more before it changes because there were definitely more things we wanted to try. Just a few examples of things for dinner are crabby French toast which was so delicious, roasted beet salad that was very flavorful, a fresh salmon that was served with truffle frites that I wish I had leftovers of and my husband had the best pork pork loin he's ever had that was pretzel encrusted. Dessert was heavenly. They also allow BYOB for no additional charge! My extended family even enjoys Blue very much and I can't wait to go back next week :) read more

Went for lunch over the weekend. Two in my party got a pumpkin soup. It was way too sweet. They said the shrimp salad was good but nothing to write home about. I ordered the Italian Cold Cut. It was just ok. I got a side of the basil pasta salad. It had absolutely no flavor!!! It was like eating plain cooked pasta. I found this to be a real issue as the side salads are an essential part of a deli lunch. We agreed this place is probably better for dinner. We will give dinner a shot. This has been a regular visit for me during lunch hour over the past year. The portion size is above all in that category. With that being said I have had several orders made with mistakes. I have the same 4-5 items I stick with and the sides I bounce around a bit. The Fiesta chicken wrap was my first ever order, and it was great. However the last few times I've order this its never been made the same. It could be me but unless I'm at a 5 star restaurant I would like my food the way I ordered it. They do have a meal card you can have punched and the 10 is on the house. This is a nice touch if you enjoy the food, because the menu is so large. Went here on a recommendation from a friend. Nothing extraordinary about the deli atmosphere or how it was decorated. The place was clean and counter help was very friendly and eager to help us understand the menu and offerings. It is a bit pricey but our food was wonderful. Hubby had a shrimp salad sandwich (13.50)...He said it was the best he has ever had. I had a Chicken Ceasar Wrap. (8.75) My wrap was also wonderful. I was sorry I didn't have another half to take home with me....The fresh salads they offer were the best. You have to pay for refills on your soda. Total we spent about $30.00. We both decided we really liked Blue Bistro but special occasions only. I totally enjoyed this meal and so did my hubby. We will return. read more
