The sad part is you would get 2 nice pieces of fish and waffle fries. Now it's two fish sticks and a small amount of regular fries. Obviously the price is the same which sadly is a bad deal. Sorry but I won't be back. 1 beer , 1 cider , fish & chips, 2 cups of patio and the loaded fries were $60. And had to pick up a sandwich on the way home. We decided on a last minute date night. Thought we'd try O'Lordan's. Surprised by only a ten minute wait, we looked over the menu. Our server was Jane who said she normally worked at the bar and apologized. No apologies were necessary as she was a great server. We ordered the Black and Tan Onion Rings for an appetizer. The horseradish dipping sauce was tasty. (Sorry, no photos of them. We dug into them as soon as she brought them to our table.). My husband ordered the Burgundy Strip with mashed potatoes and green beans. I ordered the Crab Cakes with spinach and a garden salad. Everything came as ordered and tasted good. This is a charming Irish restaurant in the heart of Westminster. We went on a Wednesday evening and it was nice and quiet. We sat upstairs in a cozy booth and loved the ambience. The food was a little an under seasoned but still very good. This is a nice casual bar food restaurant with lots of beer on draught. The service was average with some slow periods and had to ask for water refills and napkins and silverware. She seemed like she was new. Authentic atmosphere. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Good drinks- lemocello martini and cosmos crushes were good, but the food? Disappointing. I'd give a 4 out of 10. Spinach, feta salad was thin on the feta and bacon bits you could buy at Costco. The Shepherd's pie Potato skins were dry and not much shepherds pie filling to speak of. They were more like loaded skins with very little of the signature topping that made them "shepherd's pie skins". One of I'm my table mates ordered the Shepherd's Pie entree. "Not much gravy" - it was dry. For another diner with me, the Ruben was good. No Irish music was even playing in the pub. I was really looking forward to go forward to this visit. Be g new in the area I am on the hunt for fun places with tasty food and after looking at their online profile I decided to give them a shot. First the place is really nice when you walk in. It's clean and dark and warm. I wasn't expecting a Cheers welcome but we weren't even created when we walked in. The hostess was at her stations all the way inside the bottom floor. The hostess was polite when we approached and sat us upstairs per our request. That's where the spell of the place evaporated. We sat about 10-15 minutes before our server made it to us. (The place was not busy outside of the bar down stairs. When she asked us what we wanted to drink my friend ordered I said "I need a second what do you recommend between...." she interrupted and said "I'll be back." It took 20 minutes to come back with his drink (Guinness in a warm beer glass) I asked for water, she didn't acknowledge me and walked away. I tried to get her attention for the next 20 minutes so we could order. She would walk past us. I tried to flag her down again nothing. After about 40 minutes she came back to take our order. We were still hoping to turn the trip around as we were excited about the menu. We ordered the shelpards pie potato skins, a bowl of cream of crab soup, a steak and the bangers stew. By the time our food made it to us we had been sitting almost an hour and a half. The soup was amazing. It was hot it was tasty the crab was forward, I really enjoyed it. The skins were mid. Some were over cooked some were just right. All of them were cold. It seemed like they were pre cooked and frozen to be reheated later. The steak was over cooked and all but flavorless. The potatoes were just wet mashed potatoes. And the beans were equally as bland. Non of it was hot. The bangers stew was... Almost edible. The potatoes. Good, onions and carrots and meat. All tasty on their own. The sauce though was ungodly sweet. So sweet that it made the rest inedible. All in all we were there for almost 2 hours. We were $91 into our tab. By the time the food came, we asked for our ticket and some boxes. We tried a few bites and left. I probably won't ever go back. read more

Service was great but the wait was long due to the holiday. The server was very busy but kept up with tables. She earned every penny. That being said, the food was good. Shepherd's pie potato skins starter had crispy skins and the beef in the Guinness stew was tender. But the Chicken O'Lordan's was BURNT & inedible for $23.. The waitress offered a free dessert but should have offered to re-cook the dish or take it off the bill. We won't be back any time soon. read more

Great friendly service from Joe, our server. The Thursday lunch special burger was very good but I personally would order it with Cheddar next time instead of the Smoked Gouda. The fries were perfect: crispy on the outside, fluff in the center. Drinks: ordered the Orange Crush, (Vodka), and the Irish Orange Crush, (Jameson). Try the Irish Orange Crush!!! It's a superlative!! Now, for the best: Try the Steak and Cheese Sandwich (Belfast Sandwich). Caramelized Onions. Fantastic. I could only eat half and took the rest home. 5 out of 5. Ask for Joe. This spot continues to disappoint and I keep showing up hoping it will be different. I come back because the building is f*cking cool as hell and the downstairs is neat, with the fireplace ambiance. Came in on NYE for dinner around 6pm, 4 of us. The server acted as though we were an inconvenience basically the whole time. We didn't do anything corny like ask for sauces or drinks after each time she'd come by, or ask for the world in a neatly presented box. We're all service industry folks and have served tables before so we're good guests. But my petite filet was gross, the Demi glaze didn't taste good and the steak was cold and almost completely raw. She took it back and did take it off the bill, much appreciated but never an apology. The place wasn't even busy. I've had good service previously on St Paddy's day. The thing about serving tables, bartending, the service industry in general is that things are never bound to be perfect. A drink gets missed, orders sometimes forget to get put in the POS system, or maybe your food is under or over cooked. No big deal! But guess what? It's all about how you handle these situations. Someone could spill a Bloody Mary on me and if they're kind and caring and nice and use the tools they're given to make it right I'm still ok to leave a $20-30 tip! Judging by other folks' previous reviews, O'Lordan's is hiring people who don't wanna seem to be in the service industry. It's such an easy job to sling drinks or serve folks who wanna have a good time and spend their money at your establishment. Just try and care??? I just wanna add for some constructive criticism that the upstairs seating area could use some simple ambiance by dimming the lights and having music on. The vibe up there is not a vibe at all. O'Lordy, what a disappointment. What happened from our last visit here? Granted that today was the Saturday before Valentine's Day, it's the day before the Super Bowl, 60 degree night, etc. Also that our waitress was two weeks into the job, it still doesn't explain why two apps were dropped 1/2 hour apart, the beer we ordered (Köstrizer) wasn't what arrived (an IPA) despite her assurances, and that requesting if two flavors of wings was possible only for a double order to arrive (and land on the bill without any confirmation). After draining our beers, eating the apps, not once did the waitress check in on the food, drinks, nothing. So when she finally came back again, we ordered Stella's with our meals. And we waited...and waited...and waited for our beers. No waters on the table mind you. So my husband went looking for the upstairs bar to find our beers to no avail, and then the entrees dropped with still no liquid to wash it down. After we asked about the beers, the waitress waived it off and come back a few minutes later to drop them off, again never checking on how the food is. Well, the gluten free fish and chips was cooked from burnt, to just over to just right and the fries were cooked just under but also totally different from our all fries, yet the waitress claimed the frier oil was swapped out to be gluten free, so who knows. The food and service were excellent and i was able to sit with my pup on the patio. They brought him water, which he really needed, without my asking. Such a cute little place with a classic pub atmosphere. The menu is solid, but has gotten smaller since the pre-COVID era. Service took a little longer than it has in the past, but that's in line with everything happening these days and they had a nice little note on the door noting that they were short staffed. Surface lot parking right next to the restaurant with metered parking is nice, but can fill up quickly. I almost always get the fish and chips because I can't go to an Irish pub and order anything else. The fish is large, well breaded, and flakey. Tartar sauce is excellent AND I always get extra when I ask for it. I was the driver so I didn't get a chance to try out the extensive drink menu, but there are definitely some things on there that I would love to try! read more

Trash restaurant.. went here after we ran the Celtic Canter 5k. Not to busy at the bar, so we sat down. The stools we sat at where not the direct bar but right next to it, and right next to the hist station where 4 or 5 servers were just standing there. Apparently we were in a non-service no mans land. I had to go to the main bar to flag down the bartender. We got our drinks and they were good, but when it came to ordering food had to flag the guy down again.. ordered.. after 30 mins food came out.. both dishes were ice cold. Soo no servers around we just had to eat cold food finish our drinks and it got busy so we just cashed out left. Great potential. They need to get all servers to focus ok ALL areas of the restaurant and pay attention to the folks spending the money. I say this because eating out is expensive. And we spent $75 bucks for beers and cold food. Sooner or later these places will need to tighten up and take care of its patrons. read more

We had the worst waitress.... Your food was good but the waitress was very unwelcoming! She was an older lady with black glasses, short hair & certainly appeared that she was not enjoying her job! she spent most of her time conversing at the bar rather than taking care of our party!!!! We were there... on 12/4... had a reservation listed under Erica for 5:30pm. There were 6 in our party! So she automatically got an additional 20% added to our bill...We were on the first floor in a small room to the left of the entrance! Up a ramp! 4 of asked her for water... 3 of us got and I never received any.. every small thing we asked for... we waited and waited for her to accomplish... really put a damper on our evening! Her employment should be terminated immediately! I really should have asked for the manager! Probably will not visit again! We have visited O'Lordan's dozens of times over the years. So this review is long overdue! There are so many things to love about this place, I am not sure where to start. Things to love.. *Historic building is beautiful, quirky, and well upgraded. Thanks for the elevator that allows us to enjoy lunch with my 91 yr old MiL on the upper deck! *Great selection of beers and ciders! Snake Bite is my jam. *Food is top notch tavern grub. Today I enjoyed the Turkey Rachael. And their fries are world class, extra crispy, bundles of joy! I think they may toss them in corn starch to create an extra crispy texture. *Come back to O'Lordan's any season. Enjoy the outside deck in the spring or dinner by the fire in the winter. *Service is always excellent! The staff here is super nice and friendly. Raven served us today. I used to think O'Lordans was awesome but things have sadly gone downhill. We went on a Saturday at 6pm and it was crazy busy. Packed, very loud and it took over an hour for our food to arrive. I ordered something I thought was foolproof but the filet Mignon was tough and the mashed potatoes were cold. The potato and leek soup was good and so was the beer. My mom ordered the sausages that were really good! If I go again I will try to chose a lunch time when it is quieter. Why has the menu changed so much over the years? Many of the favorite old items are missing for instance there is no more Irish Breakfast with the white and black patties. There aren't many unique "Irish" foods here anymore. You might as well go to any pub. Also, they served an undercooked hamburger to my 6 yr old nephew. Kids burgers need to be well done, it's a food safety issue. **Please tell the chefs!** read more

My only complaint was the food. The ambience, look, feel and staff are amazing. The Shepherd's Pie however needs to be addressed. It has the consistency of chili or soup and absolutely no flavor. We visited O'Lordan's a few days ago and loved the atmosphere, but we were the only ones in the dining room and the wait staff pretty much forgot about us after bringing us drinks and a salad (also, always a bit awkward when only one meal comes with a side salad and they bring it out before, not with the meal so you can eat together). We waited 45 minutes, still no food - a bunch of guests arrived and it looked like O'Lordan's was hosting some sort of event for a large party, so we were pretty sure we'd continue to be ignored. Things got very loud in the restaurant at this point. We could have eaten and been on our way long before any of those people arrived (and my fella would have left a handsome tip for great service). We are generally very patient and forgiving people, so if someone had come by to apologize and to let us know the kitchen was slammed or there were some other extenuating circumstance, we would have been very understanding. We left some money for the salad and our fountain drinks, and left. What a letdown with the really great decor and architecture. The service was just too slow and non-communicative. The building is super-cool, although the decor is a little more "fantasy Ireland" than "real Ireland," if that makes sense. I would love to know the actual history of the restaurant. We came for lunch and weren't drinking, which maybe was a mistake. There was a pretty extensive drinks menu with a lot of tasty options. The food menu was nice too--plenty of options, but not huge or overly complicated. We ordered fish & chips and bangers & mash. The food, when it arrived, was fine. Not fantastic, but fine. But-- It. Took. Forever. For two entrees. And the server kept apologizing, saying they were "really busy," but there were MAYBE 6 tables full on the 2 floors, so the excuse felt a little flat. I might consider going back if there is live music or if I'm with a group stopping by for drinks or something like that. Probably won't go back just trying to get lunch, though. read more

All I can say is, this would be a great place for a bar! Stopped for drinks in the afternoon with the in-laws and were sorely disappointed. Came with a reservation on a weeknight and my party of 4 was seated promptly. We were seated by the fireplace, which wasn't on at the time. We asked our waitress to turn it on for us and she got someone to do it, which was nice. To drink, we ordered a mule, a cranberry beer, a blue crush, and another one of their cocktails. Drinks were good. To start, we ordered cups of the potato leek soup, which was super watery and tasteless. For the meal, we got 2x fish and chips, the Reuben, and the steak sandwich. I really try to not write these anymore because I know how hard things have become after the pandemic, but damn...O'Lordan's is STRUGGLING with their quality control. I know they've changed hands in management, but it just used to be so good. Westminster is pretty lackluster in terms of food service anyway, but O'Lordan's used to stand out as one of the bests. This week I went there twice. The first time was to order late night food. I was told the kitchen was closed, but that's not what it said online and from going frequently in the past, I know the kitchen doesn't close till 10, sometimes 9:30 depending on traffic flow. But they closed the kitchen at 9pm. I paid for my drinks and left. Today I ordered two Caesar salads and two bowls and one cup of potato leek soup. The soup was my favorite. It was runny and unflavored. The Caesar salad had oversized chunks of unsliced lettuce. Absolutely disgusting. I paid over $60 for this meal...for literal soup and salad (one salad with a blackened chicken). I can't with this place anymore. It also took over 40 minutes to be ready. Again, for soup and salad. No utensils or napkins in the bags. Luckily, I always expect disappointment in Westminster so I had some utensils on had; not that I needed them. This meal went straight into the trash. Bye bye $60. I just hope this St. Patrick's Day weekend works out for them. read more

Decided to give this place another try after a couple years after a horrible meal and well, I should've known better. I decided to try something new and ordered the lamb burger for $16. My wife got the Dubliner chicken sandwich which is chicken breast "marinated in Guinness". Whoever thought that was a good culinary decision needs to have their food license revoked. It tasted like a sandwich that was dropped on a basement floor during a frat party. It took 2 bites to reach the meat of my lamb burger which was basically a charred meatball in the middle of a pretzel bun covered in salad dressing. I would've sent it back but I felt bad for our waitress who had already apologized to us twice already for no silverware and lack of attention. This place is awful. read more

Perhaps my anticipation of dining here set me up with unrealistic expectations. I always enjoy Irish pubs and select them based on reviews, their beer list, and Irish food offerings. O'Lordan's seemed to fit this process pretty well so off we went to meet cousins we hadn't seen in a while. Ended up seated in a side room (cottage) which was chilly and stayed that way for our entire visit. Service was great, but that was about the only thing. Two bowls of potato and leek soup were ordered and when they arrived, there were no potatoes to be found! At best, there were some fragments which were the size of bread crumbs. Then came the rest of the food. Cottage fries with congealed cheese covering it. The seafood soup was more like diluted crab soup. Perhaps the worst was the corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes. The meat, while a generous portion, looked like it was deli corned beef that had been thrown onto the grill and heated (it even came with burned areas on most of the pieces). It was very tough. Certainly did not seem like the brisket that was described in the menu. The cabbage was undercooked and was swimming in the creamy parsley sauce. Potatoes were overcooked and dry. So, overall a poor dining experience. Now, before anyone asks, yes I know I could have complained but we hadn't seen these cousins in years and I didn't want to put a damper on the evening. Perhaps, to be fair, another visit is warranted. We'll give it some thought. read more
