My wife and I stopped by Blue Bowl at Rodeo 39 on Sunday to give it a try. The place was very busy, which shows it's a popular spot. My wife ordered one of their açaí bowls, and it was okay overall. The bowl was loaded with fresh fruit, granola, nuts, dried fruit, and other toppings, making it look very colorful and appealing. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the portion size was generous. Personally, I thought it was good but nothing that really stood out or made me want to come back just for it. If you're already visiting Rodeo 39 and looking for a healthy snack or light dessert, it's worth trying once. The staff worked efficiently despite the long line, and the area was clean. I love Blue Bowl. They are actually my favorite acai bowl business of all times. This location of Blue Bowl is inside the Rodeo 39 food hall. Among the Blue Bowl locations I have been to, they are the least friendly and on the slow side. At Blue Bowl you can order their Signature "Lazy Blue" Bowl if you don't want to do any thinking, or you can build your own. They are priced by size regardless of what you pick: $11.50 - 12oz $12.90 - 16oz $14.90 - 24oz My go-to size if it was my breakfast is the 16oz, but since I was snacking on other things at the food hall, I only got the 12oz. For the base I opted for the acai, pitaya and blue bowl chia pudding. Then the granolas I got the pumpkin flax and maple quinoa. For the fruit, I got the blueberries and strawberrys. From the nutbutters I opted for the almond butter. Then with toppings I just got pumpkin seeds. Lastly for the sweeteners I asked for the agave. They have powders too but I don't like it texturally for my bowls. The one thing I noticed from the strawberries at this location is that the knife cuts are more choppy and that actually affected the building of the bowl and the overall bite. Interestingggg. Things I never thought of before when enjoy prior blue bowls. I enjoyed my bowl but it was not as satisfying as the Orange, Irvine, or Costa Mesa locations. Holy. moly. I think this might be the best smoothie bowl I've ever had, and as a smoothie/acaí fanatic, I do not say that lightly. You can create a custom bowl by combining multiple bases together (e.g. acaí, pitaya, etc.) and then adding unlimited toppings. There are so many options for toppings, and they're all high quality and delicious. The acaí itself wasn't the most flavorful, like compared to what you find at authentic Brazilian acaí shops, but it was still pretty good. The other bases I tried (huckleberry and blue coconut) were great too. I really like the pitaya base, ojai maple chia pudding, and chocolate granola with chia, and I usually add all the fruits available as well as mulberries, goji berries, cacao nibs, and coconut. Blue bowl used to be a 4/5 for me, but I came again recently and it seems that they expanded their toppings and bases and added very unique and delicious bases!! They allow you to sample the bases which is nice. The cold brew base was super delicious and tasted like a cold brew ice cream. I also enjoyed the huckleberry base, which I thought was super unique and I haven't been to any other acai place that has this base (and I've been to a lot). Their acai has a good texture, it's a little on the more solid/dry side but the flavor is good and nutty. I love that they have some unique toppings such as dried peaches, dried mangos, and the butter which is a mixture of almond and cashew butter with a bunch of other things (can't remember what they said) in it. Honestly been to many locations multiple times and I love it but this one visit wasn't it. I've been their customer since their first orange location as well. Got a regular and they barely put base first of all... and they were pretty skimpy on my toppings usually it's over filled but my bowl toppings were barely at the bowls lining .. my bf got a bowl too and his is perfect and was filled to the rim and over flown when he took the first bite toppings were falling out like it usually is. I asked them to add more bc looking at it you can see a difference in both bowls even though it's the same size.
