a sign that says wicked without coffee

Blue Canoe is a literal gem in Marblehead. You know if a cafe has a cute dog as their logo, I'm in. The inside is immediately inviting, with royal blue and wood decor and an inherent nautical undertone. There's plenty of seating and you're not sitting on top of anyone. This charming cafe has a great coffee and tea menu, salads, sandwiches and a fridge with grab-and-go snacks and beverages. When I visited, it was under brand new ownership and the managers were very excited to chat, tell me about the town and their vision for the new version of Blue Canoe. I had a delicious egg and bacon breakfast sandwich and chai tea latte. I liked it so much here I ended up coming more than once, which is a bit unusual for me while traveling! I really appreciated the welcoming atmosphere, their care for their town, and great coffee. Cheers to Blue Canoe!

Great coffee and teas! Pastry's were delicious and prices were good. Service was friendly and personable.

The food ok. We got the grilled cheese and the chicken orzo soup. I would rate the grilled cheese a 3/5 and the orzo soup a 3.5/5. The grilled cheese definitely needed more flavor to be eaten by itself, especially since there is no tomato soup option. The orzo soup was also very simple. It had decent flavor but wasn't anything special. The bonfire latte was great 4.5/5. Overall the people were very friendly. The inside of the cafe is small but decorated nice.

Adorable place with lovely branding. I tried a bagel sandwich and a vanilla cold brew. The bagel sandwich was pressed which I especially loved. The cold brew was delicious as well. No complaints here! Bonus points for having unique specials

What a great place to grab a quick breakfast and morning beverage! The service was extremely friendly and inviting. The interior vibe was traditional to a costal/seaside town. Having a take one/leave one book section in the Cafe was creative!

Bacon egg and cheese one singular piece of bacon, sad.

Sad there was only one piece of bacon on my bacon egg and cheese. Was expecting a little more

This is not the place to come for a freshly cooked breakfast. The eggs in my breakfast burrito had the taste and consistency of a powdered egg mix. The menu listed it as a two egg burrito, so maybe they were scrambled and cooked in a microwave? Either way- the eggs were tasteless and had a pretty terrible texture. My friend's croissant sandwich had the same pale sheet layer of egg, and said the bacon on her sandwich tasted microwaved as well. I think Blue Canoe has a lot of great things going for it, including friendly service, nice decor, and an extensive menu. The wrap and sandwich we had today also had great sides and spreads. However... you can get better eggs at pretty much any breakfast place on the north shore. Other aspects: Coffee- my friend had a great atomic cold brew, but my almond milk latte had burnt espresso, over-steamed milk, and was pretty undrinkable without adding a lot of sugar. Music- ukulele covers, including bohemian rhapsody. Pastries- the lemon blueberry scone I had did not taste fresh, had a bad texture, and was too sweet. Didn't eat more than a few bites.

Restaurant Week, as per the Salem Chamber of Commerce's website, is summed up as: "Participating restaurants offered special two- and three-course prix-fixe menus, giving locals and visitors alike a chance to explore, support, and celebrate Salem's vibrant dining scene." For $45 I got cheddar jalapeño fritters, a poutine burger (hamburger with fries cheese and gravy on top, kale Caesar salad with freshly grated cheese, and fresh, piping hot apple cider donuts. The burger was hearty, the fritters popped, and the donuts hit the spot but by far the standout was the kale caesar salad with the creamy dressing over crispy and crunchy kale topped with the tangy grated cheese. A Downeast cider washed it all down and was refreshing. I went on a weekday so there were a few people sitting at the bar with me but overall the place wasn't packed. What I really appreciated was the general manager came to talk to me specifically about their Restaurant Week food selection and to get my feedback. She was super friendly and I told her about the kale caesar salad. Parking is on the street and can be hit or miss because The Babe is right on Washington Street where it starts to curve around the corner. It's worth it to keep circling though. The Babe has different events each night of the week, including Jazz Tuesdays and karaoke Fridays. I had a great time at The Babe and I appreciate how much they support the local Salem community. I am looking forward to going back!

It's packed with people which says a lot about it on a weekday morning! Locals and tourists (like us!). We were seated right away, offered menus abd our server came back quickly to take our drink orders. I waa pleasantly surprised to see a nice selection of teas on the menu, only in New England. I ordered Ear Grey and it was perfectly seeped! Both my husband and I ordered the Farmer Don. Comes with Eggs, Protein (I ordered sausages and hubby had bacon), home fries and French Toast. I upgraded my French Toast to cinnamon and it was so good! Delicious and perfectly prepared food! Our excellent server was McKenzie! Thanks for a great breakfast!
