a sign that says wicked without coffee

Blue Canoe is a literal gem in Marblehead. You know if a cafe has a cute dog as their logo, I'm in. The inside is immediately inviting, with royal blue and wood decor and an inherent nautical undertone. There's plenty of seating and you're not sitting on top of anyone. This charming cafe has a great coffee and tea menu, salads, sandwiches and a fridge with grab-and-go snacks and beverages. When I visited, it was under brand new ownership and the managers were very excited to chat, tell me about the town and their vision for the new version of Blue Canoe. I had a delicious egg and bacon breakfast sandwich and chai tea latte. I liked it so much here I ended up coming more than once, which is a bit unusual for me while traveling! I really appreciated the welcoming atmosphere, their care for their town, and great coffee. Cheers to Blue Canoe!

Great coffee and teas! Pastry's were delicious and prices were good. Service was friendly and personable.

The food ok. We got the grilled cheese and the chicken orzo soup. I would rate the grilled cheese a 3/5 and the orzo soup a 3.5/5. The grilled cheese definitely needed more flavor to be eaten by itself, especially since there is no tomato soup option. The orzo soup was also very simple. It had decent flavor but wasn't anything special. The bonfire latte was great 4.5/5. Overall the people were very friendly. The inside of the cafe is small but decorated nice.

Adorable place with lovely branding. I tried a bagel sandwich and a vanilla cold brew. The bagel sandwich was pressed which I especially loved. The cold brew was delicious as well. No complaints here! Bonus points for having unique specials

What a great place to grab a quick breakfast and morning beverage! The service was extremely friendly and inviting. The interior vibe was traditional to a costal/seaside town. Having a take one/leave one book section in the Cafe was creative!

Bacon egg and cheese one singular piece of bacon, sad.

Sad there was only one piece of bacon on my bacon egg and cheese. Was expecting a little more

This is not the place to come for a freshly cooked breakfast. The eggs in my breakfast burrito had the taste and consistency of a powdered egg mix. The menu listed it as a two egg burrito, so maybe they were scrambled and cooked in a microwave? Either way- the eggs were tasteless and had a pretty terrible texture. My friend's croissant sandwich had the same pale sheet layer of egg, and said the bacon on her sandwich tasted microwaved as well. I think Blue Canoe has a lot of great things going for it, including friendly service, nice decor, and an extensive menu. The wrap and sandwich we had today also had great sides and spreads. However... you can get better eggs at pretty much any breakfast place on the north shore. Other aspects: Coffee- my friend had a great atomic cold brew, but my almond milk latte had burnt espresso, over-steamed milk, and was pretty undrinkable without adding a lot of sugar. Music- ukulele covers, including bohemian rhapsody. Pastries- the lemon blueberry scone I had did not taste fresh, had a bad texture, and was too sweet. Didn't eat more than a few bites.

I was doing some research for coffee joints to hit up during our day trip. Blackcraft caught my eye…read moreso I made sure it was on my to go list for our Salem visit. After looking over their drink menu, I knew this coffee joint was a must go to spot. I didn't realize that this shop is in the back of Blackcraft Cult. A very beautiful but very dark store. I did mingle my way through the store to get to the coffee joint. I'm happy I didn't get too side tracked cause a mob of people came after me. After standing in line for a bit, it was finally my turn to head in. The shop is really small and has an 8 person limit inside. I was so excited I finally get to finally check it out. Walking in, I was mesmerized by how stunning this shop is. What caught my eye was the fireplace. Ughhhh, it's stunning! My dream fireplace. It's black, ornate and completely breathtaking. The dried flowers, the picture of the witches, the cute ghosts and the cauldron with more dried flowers had me daydreaming about having this fireplace in my living room. The beautiful chandelier illuminated the room. More dried flowers hung from the ceiling. All of it is just magical It's the most stunning coffee shop I have been to. I finally got my drink ordered. After looking over the menu earlier, I decided to go with the Slasher S'more. A dark chocolate toasted marshmallow latte wit all sorts of goodies on top.... how do you not want to get that? Magic mocha, Spellbound latte, Good Witch latte, whoever came up with these names and concoctions need an award. My drink was everything I had dreamt about. It was so good! It tasted just like a S'more. It was also crafted so delicately with toasted marshmallows, graham crackers and blood splatter. Stopping at this coffee joint was one of the highlights of coming to Salem today. I'm happy I was able to grab a drink, vibe out in the shop and be able to appreciate this stunning venue. I don't know if I'll ever be back but I can officially mark it off my bucket list.

That was pretty much the vibe, although there were fewer seasonal / spooky themed menu items than I would have guessed. There was a strong emphasis on pumpkin and fall drinks offered, which I'm not looking for in July. There is no separate entrance, you have to go through the Blackcraft clothing store. It's fun to look at and has some funky things - I've always wanted to check out the store anyways - but it smelled like moth balls to me which was wild for a clothing store, so I felt like I already had that smell in my nose while I was waiting for coffee and taking the first sips - not ideal. Service was pretty quick and kind of friendly. I got the Midsummer Latte, which was mostly raspberry flavored. It was the perfect level of sweet, but got a little weird tasting as it warmed up a little as I walked around the city in a heat wave, so make sure you drink this one pretty quick for the best effect! The freeze dried raspberry pieces on top were so tart and tangy, they'd catch me off guard every time I got one in my mouth but in a fun way! It made the flavor more authentic. The decor in the coffee shop was very fun, as were their take home coffee bag brew names (ex: Labrewbrew, lol!) It's a small coffee area and seemingly had no air conditioning, I was getting sweaty just standing around for the few short minutes it took to get my drink. I kept thinking the poor baristas must be so uncomfortable. Pricing was on the higher side ($9 and change including a tip for a medium ish sized specialty latte), but for such a touristy area I was (begrudgingly) expecting this. Overall I'd love to try it again, maybe next time getting the featured caramel apple drink that sounded good. Like a lot of places in Salem I experienced, it seems like they're just not super equipped for heat wave temperatures unfortunately.

I wanted more of a groom's cake rather a traditional multilevel wedding cake. Ellen listened to my vague and lame ideas on cake shapes then steered me towards a wonderful design that incorporated aspects of the two grooms lives together. Two weeks later the cake was delivered and was a huge hit. PLUS it was delicious which is generally not something I expect in a wedding cake.
