The fix required replacing both the thermal pilot assembly and the gas control valve. Since the parts were covered under the manufacturer's warranty, he had to source them from an authorized dealer. To make sure we weren't left completely out in the cold, Moises got the gas ignitor working temporarily on day one. We called to get scheduled for pump service and were told they couldn't service us for 5 days!! This was frustrating because our tanks were too full to use. On the scheduled service day, we called the office at 8:30 AM, as instructed, to get a window for when they would show up. The guy on the phone said the driver wasn't answering his phone, but he would call back after speaking to him. In the meantime we were stuck in the RV for the day. When we hadn't received a callback by 2PM, my hubby called only to be told the driver didn't show up that day. Would have been nice if they had called so we wouldn't have wasted an entire day waiting for him. On top of that, the shitter was full and it was getting unpleasant! They said they would come the next day and we told them to be there by noon because we had to pick up our grandsons up from school. The next day we called again in the morning and again, the guy couldn't get in touch with his driver and had to call back. When he finally did call back he said the truck would come between 2 to 3PM. What part of "he needs to come before noon" did they not understand?! We had to make other arrangements for the grandsons and then they called back at 2 and said the truck was running late and would be there between 3:30 and 4PM. The finally arrived a little late and pumped out the tanks. $75 is about 50% higher than we usually pay for pump service, but they are the only game in LA that services Glendale, so what are we gonna do? I'm sure we will use them again, but we will schedule sooner and keep calling them until the truck shows up. They told us they would "look for the leak," charged us $1,100 for less than two hours of work, and found nothing. Only afterward did they explain that the $1,100 was for looking for an active supply leak, NOT the drainage leak we'd called about. When I questioned why that distinction wasn't made clear beforehand, their response was essentially: "You signed the paperwork." They then wanted another $1,800 to smoke test the drainage system. Another licensed plumber performed that same test for $600, found multiple drainage leaks, and ultimately got our $11,000 repair job. Their justification for these diagnostic charges was that the money would go toward the eventual repair. But that's precisely my concern: their process would have had us nearly $3,000 committed to them before the drainage problem was even identified or we knew what they would charge to fix it. Maybe their eventual repair quote would have been competitive, maybe it wouldn't have been. We'll never know because we stopped there. But when one diagnostic alone was quoted at three times what another legitimate plumber charged, I wasn't willing to find out. The technician was nice and seemed competent. She also told me that she doesn't recall giving me that quote and that she always writes everything down but that she doesn't have ANY RECORD of these conversations.
