We were seated right away. They have TV on for sports and it can be quite loud (as expected) We did not expect it to be as loud since we had a baby with us. Bring headphones if you have a baby. Service was fast. Our server checked on us many times to make sure we were taken care of. Great service. To the point that I just finished my plate and he instantly took the plate away as well. lol Food all tasted good. Zucchini fries is soft in the inside and a little crispy on the outside. A little torn on NorthStar Tavern, the space is great and the menu/bar has a ton of options but after that it fell a little flat. We saw the burger of the month in December was a tater-tot hotdish burger online and man did it look like a 10/10. We drove about 30 minutes and ordered two along with a past and red sauce kids meals. While we waited we ordered a flight to try several options: the peanut butter bear was amazing, the cider / seltzers were good (Sherbet was the best) but the sugar cookie was meh. Once our good arrived a was already bummed as it didn't look like the photo. The burgers weren't cooked to order and overall there wasn't a lot of flavor for a burger with so much going on. I felt like it needed more goop....that's the best part of a hotdish, the glue. The past with red sauce wasn't well received but kids are kids. It didn't look amazing, but I didn't except much. With the menu being as big as it is I wouldn't mind coming back and trying something else, but I'm not in a rush to return. read more

After hiking hills at Hyland Hills Ski this might be the perfect spot to grab a table on the patio and enjoy one of the many power packed entre choices. Bacon Jam burger is known to be a crowd favorite and it delivered. A great cheese and smoke combination complement the burger in a way that just works. Ok the real winner here is that you can sub your fries with one of many sides and the one must try are the Brussels sprouts caramelized and drizzled with a balsamic these are just perfectly executed. I like this place, but the service is hit or miss. It's a nice neighborhood establishment with easy parking, plenty of tables and tasty food. They always have a nice selection of drinks and their patio in the summer is nice. We got seated on a super quiet night right next to the kitchen, where all we heard was silverware clanking and "CORNER". We did ask to move and were accommodated. My favorite menu item is the cry baby cauliflower, and they have nice sized salads. The service seems pretty slow, even to order a drink on a slow night. I'll give this place another try, but I'll probably wait until summer to enjoy the patio. read more

The service at the bar is always really good. I tend to order the same burger each time because it's that good. My only complaint is often when you walk in there's no one there to seat you and we've ended having to wait for an extended amount of time even when it's not that busy - this has happened several times. Appetizers- -crybaby Craig cauliflower: holysh*t this was good. Meal highlight -cheese curds: good not great. More batter than cheese. I got a couple cheese curds that were great but 1/3 of our cone was just little crumbles. Main courses: -PBLT: Very tasty but did fall apart while eating, I wished it was "true" pork belly as more of a plank or strip. This was like little bacon curls that fell out with every bite. CBC aioli was nice and avocado was great. Ordered with Caesar salad which was nice but a bit overdressed. Dressing on side next time. -smash burger: I was told this was delicious -walleye sandwich: no leftovers, my mother in law seemed very happy. Banana bread pudding: burned and a bit dry. Seemed like they cut a piece and put it under the broiler and left it too long. The burned sugar left a foul taste in our mouths. Actually sent it back which is a rarity. Today I wanted something different (I feel like I am personally keeping the gig economy going, lol) so I ordered Walleye Fingers and Goat Cheese Bruschetta from NorthStar Tavern. Their takeaway containers are cardboard, which is great for the environment but meant my food arrived cold. Eh, I ate it anyway ... Two things surprised me: The Walleye Fingers were tiny strips that *actually looked like* fish fingers if fish had fingers! and the Bruschetta was a DIY affair, with all the elements (goat cheese, julienned basil, balsamic reduction, and marinated tomatoes) in separate cups - the tomatoes being the largest. The crusty bread slices were a perfect vehicle and I had fun assembling them. Everything was very flavorful and the roasted jalapeño tartar sauce for the fingers was so, so good. read more

So my wife has a book club get-together once a month and the location moves around the metro. She mentioned they are meeting at NorthStar this month, and said "Wait, What did you say??". Great service, fun staff, clean environment, and easy parking. Here are my favorite items here: 1. Meatloaf. I have never gotten tired of eating. ask me why, but ask for extra gravy, you can thank me later. Also pro tip: dab a little of the gravy behind your ears and your significant other will become strangely more attractive to you! 2 Zucchini Fries are amazing. I don't know how, but they never get soggy and over cooked. 3. any of their hamburgers. It is really just a hamburger, but they are always well made, and plenty tasty. I went to NorthStar Tavern on a Saturday for brunch with 2 of my friends. We got a last minute reservation for 12:55 and it was BUSY when we showed up. It seemed as though every little league group came to eat here on this particular Saturday. After waiting a couple minutes we got seated at our table! Our hostess was so nice and dealt with the stress of a very busy restaurant well. We all chose to get their bloody Mary's and they were tasty! Our waiter also did a great job of giving us plenty of attention even with all the other customers he was dealing with. My sister ordered the eggs Benedict and they were tasty and filling. My boyfriend then ordered the chicken burger and said it was mediocre but filled him up. Overall the food was good but a touch on the greasy side. I called ahead and made a reservation, and arrived a little early just in case. Unfortunately, I was at the mercy of the table before me, which took a while to wrap up their dinner. That's fine, but that lasted an extra 30 minutes. The staff was apologetic, and they were great, but just keep in mind that your reservation times may vary! I had the Nashville Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, which was pretty good. They had some really fun drinks on the menu as well. I'd stop back in sometime to try it again for sure. The appetizer we ordered was the jalapeño wontons and they were super yummy. I decided to order the spicy shrimp poboy since I loved the cry baby cauliflower so much the last time. We stumbled into this place quite by accident and we are glad we did. Clean attentive well staffed and well run even on a busy Friday. Nice family , local crowd very reasonable prices a must try hidden gem. PBLTA was delicious with really nicely cooked pork belly and fresh crisp lettuce and with a nice tomato layer. The cheese curds were perfect not over battered and the rib eye was a nice piece probably best deal in town we also had the sweet potato tots very MN and good. Try this place...
