Food was great, I ate all of my food, I'm a bit troubled by Brussels sprouts but I ate them anyway and I don't regret it. The service was good, gave me good food suggestions. It was a little louder than expected but nice inside. There were tvs but they didn't over power the experience.

Pretty average bar/tavern experience. The food was okay, the vibe inside the tavern was sleepy, but the server was cool. Overall, 3/5. Not the best, not the worst

Fine. We were a table of three and were seated next to the kitchen. We did ask if we could move away from the kitchen and the servers were very accommodating to move us to a booth and notified us of a server change. All worked out fine. Relaxing night. Fine bevs and food. I like this place.

Decent bar food, fair environment, not inexpensive. Service is fine, always seem to get seated right next to the kitchen door regardless of how busy they are. Good list of beer taps. Casual place.

    Not good.

Waited almost 20 minutes to order. Never saw an employee. Left for another place. Not sure how places like this stay in business.

Coleslaw - a bit spicy and I like.

The service at the bar is always really good. I tend to order the same burger each time because it's that good. My only complaint is often when you walk in there's no one there to seat you and we've ended having to wait for an extended amount of time even when it's not that busy - this has happened several times. Other than that, the food is really good and the atmosphere is decent as well.

As the self proclaimed pasta guy I consider myself a bit of an expert on the topic of twin cities pasta places. Most experts would point you towards some high end swanky Italian joints... Let me tell you - THIS place may have my favorite in their Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta. The flavor is so darn good and I love the ratio of noodles to chicken/shrimp AND the addition of the peppers and onions. Also - can you say holy garlic cheese bread? (I now consider any place that serves pasta without it to be suboptimal). I love the menu and even though I couldn't finish both dining alone, I had to get the jalapeño avocado wantons. They were equally amazing!

I was pleasantly surprised with my Northstar Tavern experience. Came here for dinner on a Sunday night at 6pm as a group of 4 with toddler. Seated immediately. Appetizers- -crybaby Craig cauliflower: holysh*t this was good. Meal highlight -cheese curds: good not great. More batter than cheese. I got a couple cheese curds that were great but 1/3 of our cone was just little crumbles. Main courses: -PBLT: Very tasty but did fall apart while eating, I wished it was "true" pork belly as more of a plank or strip. This was like little bacon curls that fell out with every bite. CBC aioli was nice and avocado was great. Ordered with Caesar salad which was nice but a bit overdressed. Dressing on side next time. -smash burger: I was told this was delicious -walleye sandwich: no leftovers, my mother in law seemed very happy. Banana bread pudding: burned and a bit dry. Seemed like they cut a piece and put it under the broiler and left it too long. The burned sugar left a foul taste in our mouths. Actually sent it back which is a rarity. Server was gracious about it.

I've visited for both brunch and dinner/happy hour. Always pleased with my visits. A relaxed, modern decor is the perfect backdrop for having a few brews from their sizable tap beer list. And some incredible burgers. The staff is always inviting and attentive. I wish the place was closer to home for me as I would be a regular for sure. Strongly recommend.

    Goat Cheese Bruschetta

Today I wanted something different (I feel like I am personally keeping the gig economy going, lol) so I ordered Walleye Fingers and Goat Cheese Bruschetta from NorthStar Tavern. Their takeaway containers are cardboard, which is great for the environment but meant my food arrived cold. Eh, I ate it anyway ... Two things surprised me: The Walleye Fingers were tiny strips that *actually looked like* fish fingers if fish had fingers! and the Bruschetta was a DIY affair, with all the elements (goat cheese, julienned basil, balsamic reduction, and marinated tomatoes) in separate cups - the tomatoes being the largest. The crusty bread slices were a perfect vehicle and I had fun assembling them. Everything was very flavorful and the roasted jalapeño tartar sauce for the fingers was so, so good.

NST is where ordinary bar food is extraordinary. Excellent spin on burgers. All the comfort foods are here with an amazing enhancement. Lots of variety on the menu to include taps, cocktails and mocktails. The service is excellent too.

Huge fan of this restaurant! Our server was attentive and extremely kind…read more We started with the wontons and deviled eggs (we ate them too quickly to get pictures) and they were to die for. We also ordered some drinks (You're My Boy Blue & the Rhubarb/Ginger Gin Fizz). Both were a perfect balance of refreshing and fruity. I ordered the brisket mac & cheese (pictured) and was immediately in love. Truly the definition of comfort food. As it was my birthday, we were able to finish off the meal with a slice of rainbow cake. We will definitely be back, as there are so many things we didn't get this time that we want to try

RC and I decided to try this restaurant because I've been eyeing it since it opened back when I…read moredrank bourbon. I don't drink anymore, so I get to focus on the food. We ordered the Candied Bacon flight to share; the menu listed the bacon flight flavors (whiskey jalapeño BBQ, roasted chile brown sugar, honey mustard, 4-pepper blend) and the 8 large, thick slices looked inviting but we had no idea which pieces were which flavor. *Management Suggestion: Get little toothpicks or flags so diners know what they're tasting!* That said, while I tried two pieces I thought looked good and I enjoyed them, RC munched through them unaware they were different flavors, lol. My take: they were ok. I also ordered the French Onion soup as I love trying different restaurants' take on it. Five stars for the soup, it was absolutely delicious. A thick piece of crusty bread topped with melted cheese that dripped over the crock topped rich, delicious caramelized onions and just enough beef stock to be able to call it soup. Banging. For our mains, RC ordered ribs with a side of Buffalo Brussels Sprouts. The ribs had good flavor but were definitely not fall-off-the-bone; more like saw from the bone. We both love Brussels but the beef-tallow fried sprouts with Buffalo sauce and caked in melted bleu cheese crumbles were not good. If you don't like Brussels, you might like these because any sprout flavor was overwhelmed by the bleu cheese. For my main I tried the braised Short Rib Ravioli, generous ravioli in a very rich cream sauce then topped with (I think) bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes. I ate one raviolo and it wasn't for me. I thought the filling was bland and the sauce didn't meld with the flavor. I didn't eat it, the manager came to apologize and ask if I wanted something else, but RC was close to finished and I declined. Good on them for taking it off my bill without me asking. Service was five star, atmosphere nice, although the huge flat screens everywhere were a distraction lacking sound or captions. The bourbon selection looked great and I momentarily wished I could try some! :D
