Bacon Jam Burger is really good cheese pairs perfectly with the smoke flavor. Side of Brussels is a must

After hiking hills at Hyland Hills Ski this might be the perfect spot to grab a table on the patio and enjoy one of the many power packed entre choices. Bacon Jam burger is known to be a crowd favorite and it delivered. A great cheese and smoke combination complement the burger in a way that just works. Ok the real winner here is that you can sub your fries with one of many sides and the one must try are the Brussels sprouts caramelized and drizzled with a balsamic these are just perfectly executed. And so reasonably priced Northstar Tavern does check all the boxes.

Food was great, I ate all of my food, I'm a bit troubled by Brussels sprouts but I ate them anyway and I don't regret it. The service was good, gave me good food suggestions. It was a little louder than expected but nice inside. There were tvs but they didn't over power the experience.

Pretty average bar/tavern experience. The food was okay, the vibe inside the tavern was sleepy, but the server was cool. Overall, 3/5. Not the best, not the worst

Fine. We were a table of three and were seated next to the kitchen. We did ask if we could move away from the kitchen and the servers were very accommodating to move us to a booth and notified us of a server change. All worked out fine. Relaxing night. Fine bevs and food. I like this place.

Decent bar food, fair environment, not inexpensive. Service is fine, always seem to get seated right next to the kitchen door regardless of how busy they are. Good list of beer taps. Casual place.

    Not good.

Waited almost 20 minutes to order. Never saw an employee. Left for another place. Not sure how places like this stay in business.

As the self proclaimed pasta guy I consider myself a bit of an expert on the topic of twin cities pasta places. Most experts would point you towards some high end swanky Italian joints... Let me tell you - THIS place may have my favorite in their Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta. The flavor is so darn good and I love the ratio of noodles to chicken/shrimp AND the addition of the peppers and onions. Also - can you say holy garlic cheese bread? (I now consider any place that serves pasta without it to be suboptimal). I love the menu and even though I couldn't finish both dining alone, I had to get the jalapeño avocado wantons. They were equally amazing!

I was pleasantly surprised with my Northstar Tavern experience. Came here for dinner on a Sunday night at 6pm as a group of 4 with toddler. Seated immediately. Appetizers- -crybaby Craig cauliflower: holysh*t this was good. Meal highlight -cheese curds: good not great. More batter than cheese. I got a couple cheese curds that were great but 1/3 of our cone was just little crumbles. Main courses: -PBLT: Very tasty but did fall apart while eating, I wished it was "true" pork belly as more of a plank or strip. This was like little bacon curls that fell out with every bite. CBC aioli was nice and avocado was great. Ordered with Caesar salad which was nice but a bit overdressed. Dressing on side next time. -smash burger: I was told this was delicious -walleye sandwich: no leftovers, my mother in law seemed very happy. Banana bread pudding: burned and a bit dry. Seemed like they cut a piece and put it under the broiler and left it too long. The burned sugar left a foul taste in our mouths. Actually sent it back which is a rarity. Server was gracious about it.

Coleslaw - a bit spicy and I like.

The service at the bar is always really good. I tend to order the same burger each time because it's that good. My only complaint is often when you walk in there's no one there to seat you and we've ended having to wait for an extended amount of time even when it's not that busy - this has happened several times. Other than that, the food is really good and the atmosphere is decent as well.

I've visited for both brunch and dinner/happy hour. Always pleased with my visits. A relaxed, modern decor is the perfect backdrop for having a few brews from their sizable tap beer list. And some incredible burgers. The staff is always inviting and attentive. I wish the place was closer to home for me as I would be a regular for sure. Strongly recommend.

There were still some things we really enjoyed, though, and I'm glad we gave it a try. We started with the French Onion Soup, which was one of my favorite parts of the meal. I loved that they used croutons instead of one giant piece of bread. Much easier to eat--no fighting with a giant bread raft to get to my soup! The flavor was really nice too. I had the Bolognese Pappardelle, which was good, and my partner really enjoyed his Hanger Steak. He also tried the Garlic Herb Mushrooms, but those weren't really his thing. I ordered the N.A. Lela Punch, and that one surprised me. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it grew on me as I drank it. Apparently we just needed a little time to get acquainted. Dessert was an adventure. I decided to try the White Chocolate Panna Cotta because I'd never had panna cotta before. It was beautifully plated, but this is also how I learned panna cotta has a Jell-O-like texture... and I do not like Jell-O. That's definitely a me problem rather than a criticism of how it was prepared. At least I can officially say I've tried panna cotta! I ended up trying the Crème Brûlée as well. Unfortunately, that wasn't my favorite either. I usually love crème brûlée, but I prefer the custard very smooth and creamy, and this one was thicker than I personally like. My partner had the Chocolate Molten Cake and thought it was okay, but it wasn't a favorite for him either. Overall, Lela had some definite highlights--the French Onion Soup, Bolognese Pappardelle, and Hanger Steak especially--but we also had a few misses. I can understand why other people really enjoy it; it just wasn't quite the restaurant for us. And hey, every restaurant adventure can't end with a new favorite. That's half the fun of trying them all!

The birria beef was flavorful, but there was a little too much avocado crema for my taste, and the consommé didn't have much flavor, which was disappointing since that's usually one of the best parts of a birria dish. My mother-in-law ordered a rice bowl and said it was huge but had way too much rice compared to everything else. My partner had the Alfredo, and that was probably the favorite at our table. It was creamy, tasted great, and I liked that they used cavatappi pasta instead of the usual fettuccine. We skipped appetizers and dessert this time. Overall, the food was decent but didn't really wow me. I'd give it about 3 out of 5 stars. The Alfredo was a pleasant surprise, but the loud atmosphere and a few misses with the food would make me think twice before coming back during a busy event.

The staff here was very friendly as well as the guests and the food. Food prices were pretty fair the drink prices were a little Sky High for what they were. Wait times were not bad at all and I do love the amount of interaction that is involved with the store with all the games that are also featured here too. My one big gripe about this place is that the games itself are overly expensive and I understand that they give you "bonus credits" for what you spend when you initially get your card. I only put $10 in but I only played a few games since that's all that I could afford. Mainly I just enjoy playing all the pinball games which I was sucker for. It's got a great sports bar atmosphere but expect to possibly spend about $80-$100 if you're coming here with friends . It's a fun time but it's enough to break the wallet a bit

The space itself isn't terribly large, and it looked like there were only three or four people working that evening. After being seated, it took a while before we were able to order our first round of drinks. Normally I don't focus much on service in reviews, but we could immediately tell our waitress was not having a great night. We were forgotten about a few times, but eventually managed to order some small bites, including a charcuterie board and some pretty yummy cheese curds. When we finally caught her for our second round, I complimented her glasses since they were similar to mine, partially in an attempt to cheer her up. I was met with a glare and a mumbled "thanks." When she walked away, all four of us kind of looked at each other like... dang, we're not sure what we did. Having all worked in service ourselves, we try to be respectful, stack our dishes, wipe up after ourselves, and generally make things easier where we can. Oddly enough, when it came time to pay, she returned with a completely different attitude... suddenly cheerful, friendly, and telling us to have a great night. Honestly, the whole interaction was a little bizarre! Service aside, the cocktails were balanced and genuinely good, the food was slightly elevated and hit the spot, and the atmosphere was great, especially with the DJ playing that night. We decided to Uber since we knew we'd be drinking, so I can't speak firsthand to parking, although it looked like street parking could be moderately difficult depending on the night. I'd still go back if I were in the area and the night warranted it. My guess is we caught them on an off night or they ended up busier than anticipated.

Martina is an ace with its bold flavored Argentinian cuisine and relaxing atmosphere. We dined on the patio, but whether you are seated inside or out, the ambiance is adorned with green plants, natural wood, and clean lines for a modern aesthetic that pleases today's diner. The food was a pleasure. The secret to the bold flavors is in the sauce. We started with an order of the grilled bread and a dozen oysters. I'll never say no to raw oysters (even on some occasions when I should have), but these were a great experience. The vinegar sauce served with these was a unique version that when paired with a dash of the shredded horseradish and a squeeze of lemon juice, the oysters were a punch of zingy perfection. The salted, vinegar infused butter that came with the bread elevated the dish. I chose the halibut for my entree and it was lovely (halibut is a win in any format). However, I would highly recommend the ribeye. My son got that and I sampled a piece with the accompanying chimichuri sauce and it was heavenly. The oils chosen to create that sauce were very well thought out so it made for not-your-typical ribeye and lent itself to something flavorfully unique. We want to return! Putting this on our list of faves when in Minneapolis/St Paul.
