During the last major snowstorm our furnace stopped working consistently. We are 78 and 76 years old and Blue Dot installed another Carrier HVAC system about 12 years ago. We had another contract with Bue Dot Services in Forest Hill, Maryland for annual maintenance of our HVAC equipment. We called to have them review the equipment. This was the first week of February 2026. After two visits we were told that we needed a new unit and they would send a salesman to our house the next morning. We spent the night in a nearby motel. The next morning a salesman came to our house and discussed several options with us. P.C. reviewed several options with us. The first option was a Carrier product for $21,000, the second option was a Rheem product for $27,000 and the third option was another Carrier product for over $30,000. We were told there was a possibility that a new unit could be installed the next day. We selected the Rheem product (B-RHON-GHCS-36190-96100) and provided a check for half of the cost. As part of the cost, Blue Dot contracted a company to shovel our lawn so that the system could be installed ($300). The system was installed in one day and technicians had to return several times because the system was not programmed correctly. We were told that Baltimore County would need to come to inspect the work. After a month, we called Blue Dot because no one came from Baltimore County called us. Then, Blue Dot scheduled the appointments. We feel that we were taken advantage of because of our age and the situation. We strongly recommend that people should get more that one quote from DIFFERENT CONTRACTORS. We have been told by other companies that the equipment and installation should not have cost more than $13,000. read more

Blue Dot gave me a 4 hour window appointment (8am- 12pm) for 7/5/25. I called twice to inquire when the tech would arrive. Despite assurances that a message was being sent to the local dispatcher, no message was sent to me until 3:20 pm. I then received a text rescheduling me to 7/8/25, 8am - 12pm. I received a text on 7/8/25 at 11:20 am informing me that they would not be there during the appointment, but would be there today. I took off time from work to be home in the morning, but had to go back to work. The dispatcher assured me she would call back when the tech was on his way to my house. That call came at 2:40 pm, and on that call, the dispatcher apologized profusely and said she would discount the fee from $119 to $69. The tech arrived, found the issue that was an installation error, made the repairs, then presented me with his tablet to sign in two places without showing me what I was signing. Lo and behold, I received an invoice for $119. No discount for their horrible customer service. Run, run as fast as you can and as far as you can, away from Blue Dot. Every instance of transactions have been slimy and hiding details. I will be following up this review with a call to the local office to get the invoice corrected to the $69 quoted price. read more

Blue dot does not follow through with appointment appointments. I used them for an air-conditioning issue they scheduled me and then canceled. I have a heating issue now and I've called them they have canceled three times in a row. They wasted my time three days. Evening appointments do not exist even though they tell you that they do and will Schedule you. It's always an excuse they do not have technicians in the evening hours . I would not use them if you are in need of emergency service. In fact I wouldn't use them at all. Very unprofessional. read more

Totally unreliable and unapologetic. I confirmed an appointment with them to service a rental house of mine at 8:51 am on a Saturday. They verbally confirmed the appointment window from 10-2 for the day and then sent me text back up letting me know they would call before they headed to the house. I had tenants waiting and sent someone over to walk the plumber through the intricacies of the house. Everyone was in place by 10am. At 11:50 a rep from Blue Dot called me to say that they didn't have anyone available to do the service call and that they'd like to reschedule for Monday. No apology or basic understanding of the fact that tenants had taken off work for this appointment or that I had multiple people in place as a result of them confirming the appointment. They didn't care. They simply let me know that there was nothing they could do other than reschedule. It was a horrible experience dealing with Blue Dot Heating and Cooling company I will never use them again or recommend anyone to use it. I regret getting my AC unit from this unprofessional company, they lack customer experience, they don't know how to treat a customer. On Saturday, January 24th at 7:12AM, I requested heat restoration service, providing only my name and address as requested. I was informed that a technician will stop between 10AM and 2PM. At 1:30, I called to ask about the technician and was told he was delayed but would arrive and contact me; however, he never did. Multiple follow-up calls yielded the same response. I expressed that I was concerned that I had an 89-year-old mom, and it was getting late and the storm was approaching. Finally, around 4:09PM I got a call from a person name Adrian who refused to provide me with his ID #, and asked me a few questions that led to tell me that they cannot service my unit because it was oil heat, I told him that I was shock and upset that it took them all this time to make the determination without showing up or doing any follow-up calls, he didn't care and left me hanging with no apology, and up to date there was never a follow-up call. We had a technician named Justin come out to inspect our AC condenser and give us a replacement estimate and the experience was nothing short of frustrating. From the start, he was impatient and dismissive. By the end, it felt like he was trying to pressure us into signing a $10-15k contract on the spot, without even letting us think it over. He claimed there was "no equipment available," "no one working in the heat," and acted like replacement was our only choice. When I politely asked for the quote by email so we could review it overnight, he shot back, "Oh, you just want to see the numbers?" and then abruptly left without providing it. We expect honesty, transparency, and respect when working with any service provider but this visit delivered none of that. Two days ago they sent two different guys out to do the same job, look at my system and leave. The following day I called 3 times because they were given the go ahead by my landlord to fix it so I was expecting a call to let me know when they would. Each time they took my number assuring me someone would call....no one did. So finally after the last call I got a call back at 5:30 pm ..he said they never got the go ahead and I know that isn't true because my landlord happens to be my BFF so I know she spoke to them. My furnace heater and AC worked fine no issues next thing I know they're telling me I have a carbon monoxide leak cracks in my furnace and I need to replace it immediately. 8/27/25 1 Star Review *BE AWARE OF TECHNICIAN TIYESE POPE* Today was a scheduled appointment for seasonal maintenance. The service window was fromr 8-12 pm. No one showed during this time period. I had to call Blue Dot three different times to get an ETA for the technician arrival. It's now 2:15 pm a technician-Tiyese Pope arrived. An attitude with a chip on his shoulder was clear and already detected. He asked unprofessional questions of, how long have I been living at my address. He also asked, how old was I and How much did I pay for my HVAC unit. I said to this technician those questions asked were not pertinent for the reason why he was here. I said to him he was here to provide a service for seasonal maintenance to air conditioning unit. This technician appeared to be angry with his tone, facial expressions, disposition and body posture because I wasn't answering his unprofessional questions. He then said, he was the best and immediately left without doing the job that Blue Dot dispatched him to do. I had no other choice but to call Blue Dot to express my concerns and report the incident. Blue Dot took my information, gave me a call back with speaking to Michael, in plumbing. Michael, apologize for the incident and stated he would discuss the matter further with his manager. He then stated, he would send a request for another technician to provide the service today. About 4:30 pm another technician-Jeff Baker arrived to my address. This young man was the complete opposite of the other technician-Tyiese Pope, who walked off the job without completion. I asked their salesman to leave our home (he called from the driveway with a price drop of $3000 for one unit). so they are definitely Italy trying to get you to pay way above a reasonable amount to make a good profit. on top of that, their service was terrible. I wish I could give less than 1 star! Our AC went out on a Saturday, nearly 100 degrees outside. Blue Dot sent a service person the same day. The blower motor was not working and they were unable to fix it. They said it would cost $3000 dollars to replace the motor and take a month to order the part. He said that our 10 year old furnace was at the end of it's lifespan and he suggested replacing it and would send a salesperson to give us a quote for a new furnace/AC system. The salesperson arrived around 9pm, nearly an hour late. He gave a quote of 18-20 THOUSAND. When we said we needed to think about it, he started with the aggressive sales tactics. He tried to pressure us into giving him a check that that time. After refusing to sign anything or give him any money, he abruptly left. We found another company to replace the motor for a little less than $1000 and in 1 day. If you read the reviews for Blue Dot, the theme is the same. The repair will be so expensive, not worth it, you should replace the whole system for an exorbitant amount of money. It feels as though they are all salespeople and not a repair service. read more

Since installation, I have called for service more than five times due to ongoing malfunctions. Despite multiple requests to speak to a manager, I have yet to receive any meaningful response or call back. On June 24, 2025, at approximately 4:00 AM, I called the service center and was told the next appointment would be June 25, 2025, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. No one showed up to my house. This delay is unacceptable, especially considering the outside temperature is approximately 100 degrees and I have taken multiple days off work due to their system. I have explained my health and safety concerns to their representatives, but my concerns have not been addressed with urgency or care. The system is clearly defective. I requested a full refund and removal of the HVAC system immediately. Blue Dot is refusing to refund my money. I paid over $13,000. Cash for this system. I spoke with Tamika, one of the supervisors on June 26, 2025. She told me that it does not work like that despite all the chances I have given Blue Dot to fix the problem. We recently had trouble with our home AC unit. With the current heat, and the fact that my wife and I are both senior citizens, it was a rather emergent situation. I did a quick search and the first number that came up was Blue Dot. So, I called. When the tech came, he took the cover off of the AC unit, and without touching a tool to the unit, (except to take the cover off) stated that the motherboard needed to be replaced. He then placed his hand under the blower and said that it wasn't blowing hard enough. The blower motor needed replaced. A quick google search showed that these two parts alone were at least $1400. After that, he put a current tester on one wire to see how much current was flowing through it. He did look at the compressor, but found nothing amiss. Then he wrote up his estimate of $3400!!! We told him NO! We would not be using Blue Dot. That was Saturday. Sunday, I learned that a man I know is a certified HVAC tech. He came to my home on Monday. He examined the motherboard and the blower and said there was nothing wrong with either. Long story short, $50 and a new filter and everything is fine! They have a customer service number, but customer service cannot tell you when your AC part is in ("Parts" will call you, but Parts never calls) and customer service can't schedule your follow-on service ("Dispatch" will call you, but dispatch never does.) Took weeks and multiple calls to learn when the part was in. During this time I was repeatedly told a manager would call because my account had been so mismanaged, but no manager ever called. They came to our house because our hot water heater valve broke. The service man said he couldn't fix it because we bought the water heater from Home Depot? It was out of warranty? And it was an older tank (5years old). So if you have a new hot water heater not bought at Home Depot and it is under warranty they will fix it. Otherwise you're SOL. BlueDot is a money grubbing business who values taking your money over providing good service. I purchased a new HVAC system from Blue dot in 2015. I was satisfied with the sales person, and for the first few years with the maintenance. I accepted an offer for $15 per month to get two on-site maintenance visits per year. For a couple of years that worked fine. My maintenance contract included cleaning of the coils on the AC unit, which was on the roof of our condo building. It included cleaning the coils on the AC unit. 8/years after the installation of their system, my Compressor failed, which is totally ridiculous. I called the maintenance supervisor and , knowing that the key maintenance for the compressor is cleaning of the coils annually, asked him about that. He told me they had never cleaned the coils because our AC was "0n the roof". I was livid! I told him our maintenance contract explicitly stated it included annual cleaning of the coils. He admitted they had never cleaned the coils, which led to our compressor failing after only 8 years. We had to pay $1590 to get a new compressor. From that point on, he ensured we had our coils cleaned. They raised our maintenance contract, to $20 per month, and EVERY maintenance they noted we should replace various parts totaling over $3 thousand dollars. In every case I declined because i had learned that's how they do business so today I informed them that we had sold our home and therefore wanted yo cancel our maintenance contract. They said "OK, but you owe us $100." I said what for? I'm canceling my contract.? They told me I had a year long contract, therefore I owed them for the last five months on the contract. I said, "let me understand this. I require no further maintenance visits, nor do I need a maintenance contact, so you no longer have to pay employees to come out and do a maintenance visit, and you want me to pay $100 for work you will never have to do" and the lady told me yes, because there were 5 more months left in my maintenance contract. I call Blue Dot in the early am morning to get an appointment for service for my AC units. They schedule me new appointment for same day in the the evening between 6-10pm. Around 4pm they call me to cancel my appointment the lady stated they were to busy to honor my appointment, and they would schedule another appointment for 2 days later. If they told me in the morning that my appointment was a MAYBE appointment I would told them NO. I wasted my day waiting, I could have call another company and had AC fix same day. Aug 1 24 I requested service to assess why my 4 year old unit was not cooling. Technician a claimed that he found a leak charged my 119$ diagnostic fee and invoiced 1757$ for repair. Technician B arrived next day to repair and claimed there was no leak. The 1757$ i paid was used to refill my Freon which technician B alleged could have possibly been stolen. How the hell is Freon stolen but never the less he assured that there was no leak and the unit was working perfectly fine Here we are a new season May 25 my ac does not work again. All attempts to have blue dot come back have been unsuccessful. This company claims to stand on their work but this isn't true. The service calls are not honest and when asking that they come back to correct problems they go ghost. No one has shown up to repair and i cannot get ahold of any management to help alleviate the problem. Do not trust blue dot of Maryland. My brand-new furnace that was installed by Blue Dot in March 2025 has failed right during this cold snap and snow--where the temperatures were down to 16-degrees F. this week. My furnace is manufactured by RUUD and is brand new, but has completely failed to function leaving me and my wife cold in our house! Blue Dot came two weeks ago to fix my brand new furnace that is still under warrantee; however, two weeks later, and I have not heard back from Blue Dot where I was promised that my system would be fixed in 24-hours! It's now been two weeks! Blue Dot gave me a signed contract for service and that states if they cannot fix my furnace in 24-hour, that I will be given a check for $555.00 and hotel accommodations will be made for me and my wife to stay warm, but Blue DOT IS NOT RETURNING OUR CALLS! I have already complained to the Maryland Consumer Protection Division to help to assist me to have heat restored to my house so that me and my wife don't both freeze to death! I am also planning to sue Blue Dot for this consumer fraud outrage! Steer clear of Blue Dot due to how I am being mistreated and ignored about the brand new $20,000 HVAC system that Blue Dot installed, but has not worked for three weeks now. Pain to work with, no communication at all and multiple issues with the work. Hired to install a heat pump and upgrade electrical panel to support the greater electricity usage. A year and a half later and probably two dozen calls and I am still waiting for the job to be finished. The photos show how the job was left, with loose and exposed wiring and holes in my walls. "The manager isn't available right now but will call you back when they are." Apparently the manager has been busy for 18 months but the sales team is able to spam me continuously, which inspired this update to my reviews. -Took about 2 hours to fill out the forms because the sales guys couldn't use the app. -After the first day of installation, when they were meant to be finished, returned home to the work not finished and no notification about what was happening. Had to call and get put on hold to get a callback hours later that they'd need a second day to finish. -After the second day, again no communication about if they were finished. Half the breakers in my box were off without explanation and again had to wait on hold for an explanation if it was safe/ready to turn my electrical back on. -Heat pump barely kept up the first few days in very mild weather so called to have it checked out- had been programmed wrong and got this sorted. -About a week later when changing another appliance realized they had never done the electrical upgrade I paid thousands for and called to schedule this to be done. It took several months and over a dozen calls to finally get this installed. In doing so, they left several holes in the wall and tied off cables loose on the side of the house. I would give them 0 stars if possible. I have been a customer for over 15 years and had maintenance contracts on both my units with Blue Dot. After missing 2 consecutive appointments for checking my units, I cancelled my maintenance contract. I was told I was getting a refund. I called today, a week later, to find out where my refund was. I was told by customer service that refunds take 3 to 5 weeks since the company is out of town and needs approval from them. This is the worst company to deal with. I will never deal with them again. During a schedule winter maintenance we were told a new heat pump system was needed. The new system was installed on 12/31/2024. Two weeks later we asked Blue Dot to check the system as we were advised by BGE our kilowatt usage had increased 212%. Blue Dot refused to send a technician. Two weeks later we called again. Blue Dot reluntantly agreed to send a tech with the reminder that we would receive a $199 diagnostic fee if nothing was wrong. Everything was wrong!! It took their tech 3 days to fix all the problems with our "new" system. This is the 2nd system we purchased from Blue Dot. It will also be our last. Either they are selling faulty equipment or their installation technicians don't know what they are doing. We DO NOT recommend working with this company. My furnace finally broke down for the last time, I called Blue Dot, yesterday, spoke with the nicest person who promptly answered all of my questions and concerns and booked me right then and there, Eric arrived and he was an absolute pleasure to work with he didn't rush or try to steer me into getting something I didn't need, he was professional, polite, pleasant, respectful, kind, knowledgeable and very helpful, he listened and answered all of my questions , we spoke as if we were old friends, he has a great human being quality, he makes you feel very confident and comfortable making you decision, he was an amazing, awesome, funny, kind person and I enjoyed working with him very very much, they have some great folks working for them, they installed my furnace and air conditioner today, in less than 24 hours, now that's service and the price was AMAZING. read more

Blue Dot installed a new hot water heater recently and Baltimore County sent an inspector who ordered an additional part required to pass inspection which they have not completed. Office communications are nearly chaotic as there is very little going within between the staff. The techs are usualy quality skilled men when they show up for appointments. read more

I used Polar Bear for my heating and AC needs when I lived in Reisterstown. They went out of business so I had to find a new carrier. My tenant advised the unit stopped putting out heat (14 years old) so I asked my property manager to call Blue Dot as they had been around for years. I had to have a new unit installed. They kept me up to date throughout the process. They installed it promptly and I've had no issues with the unit which was installed in 2019. I signed up for their maintenance plan for $18 a month. This includes twice a year maintenance (fall and spring). It also offers a discount if I need the unit serviced. As well as priority if there are issues. I would recommend Blue Dot for your heating and AC needs. read more

Really disappointed in this company. My ac wasn't working properly so I had a technician come out. I was told that a part had gone bad on the until and that it would be over $3000 to replace it. The part was ordered and 4 days later still hadn't arrived. I attempted to make several phone calls to see what was going on and couldn't get a hold of anybody on their multiple phone lines. I finally got in touch with someone who said they would email a manager and have them call me back within 24 hours but that never happened. I had someone else come out. They looked at the unit and said there was nothing wrong with the part blue dot said was broken. They added refrigerant and the ac has been working fine. My thermostat was reading Lo on a Friday morning before I had to go to work which meant I had to replace the batteries. Not an issue until a part (the prongs) broke off and putting the thermostat back on the wall, it could not connect to the furnace. Walked in from work later and it was 62 degrees in my house (I left that morning, and it was 75). And dropping (into the fifties). I was told that all I needed was a new thermostat and I could easily snap it onto the wall. WRONG! They don't make my model anymore and parts are not interchangeable. So, I bought a new thermostat and sat for three nights and four days FREEZING looking for a person to install it. I ended up with Blue Dot and quite frankly, I don't think I would call them again. He didn't want to use the thermostat I bought at Home Depot for a reasonable ninety bucks because he had one in his truck for over three hundred dollars. I INSISTED he use MINE! Then he's telling me that the furnace is old (I know that jack!) and needs a replacement (to the tune of an estimate for over six thousand dollars of which this senior citizen doesn't have with lousy credit!). He reluctantly got the new thermostat to work but would not show me how to program it or anything. Walked me through only what he does in his house. And left. Yes, the heat is FINALLY back on, and the air is not cold in here and I'm not wearing layers and using many blankets to sleep (plus wearing a coat and hat when I wasn't under blankets!). But just like Len the Plumber, Blue Dot is only there to sell you products; to jack up the service fee. Don't care really if you do have a problem. I had an appointment for today between 2 -6 pm. The technician did not show up. I received a call from dispatch at 7:20 to reschedule. I have a very complicated schedule so what they were offering did not work for me. I told the person that I would have to call them back and the person got very rude and disrespectful. They also hung up on me. I called back to speak with a manager only to be told "What would like for me to do?" This is how they treat their Premier Customers. They have poor customer service. Premier customers are supposed to have priority. I was also told that they have a technician shortage. We called Bluedot because they installed our heat pump 4 years ago. We were without heat, so we call them. The guy NEVER looked at the system which is in the attic; we even offered to let him use our ladder. He stated the system was low on freon and quoted us $800; however he never checked the unit. All he did was stick a temperature gauge in one of the vents and stated, "no heat is coming out"---REALLY. I was done. We refused their service. Called another company and they stated the settings on our smart device thermostat was incorrect. They reset the device, the heat came on, and it only cost us $49 which was their service call. read more

The heater in my house wasn't warming up past 70 degrees so I called BlueDot to take a look. The technician that examined my HVAC system was nice and explained the issues he observed. However, I was told that several parts had to be replaced and given that the warranty was no longer effective, it would cost approximately $8500 to fix. He and the salesman that showed up afterwards told me that given all the parts that had to be repaired, that I might as well replace the whole system for $10K. Given that I just bought my house and I have other expenses to deal with at this time of year, I was not keen on buying a whole new HVAC system. Fortunately, my dad knew an HVAC technician that was able to assess my system, identify the issue, and fix it for $100. As another person stated, it seems like this company tries to convince people to buy whole new systems instead of correctly diagnosing issues and fixing the existing system. Please take time to conduct your due diligence and get multiple opinions (preferably with local licensed technicians) before deciding to move forward with such a drastic purchase that may not be necessary. read more
