I was hoping for a fantastic experience at Blue Goat, but unfortunately, it wasn't. The staff was welcoming, and our server was eager to help. We ordered a burger, which was great, and the rice was excellent. We also had the souvlaki and octopus, which were both delicious. However, one of our shared dishes and a side never arrived. The waiter seemed confused and hadn't placed the order. After we finished, the manager promised not to charge us, but the discount didn't appear at first. After some back and forth, they gave us a 50% discount, which I appreciated. I was definitely irritated, but I do think they tried to fix it. The food we got was really good, and I just hope they hire more staff so the service keeps up with the quality of the food.

The food is five star! My chicken was so tender and moist and obviously well marinated. The rice was perfection. You can mix and match the skewers.Unfortunately my side never arrived and my companions salad also never made it... even after we reminded our waiter twice. Once we finished our meals we asked him to cancel the salad and side. The manager did stop by and gave us a discount for the inconvenience which was a classy move. Cute little Greek bistro. I would be happy to visit again.

    Aegean. Hard pass.

I asked for an Aegean and it was so bad. Perhaps I don't care for coconut milk or it wasn't fresh but the drink was bad. I asked for a Greek salad with gyro meat and no pepperoncini. Salad arrived with practically a whole jar of shredded pepperoncini under the mound of gyro meat. When the bill arrived, Maya did realize she had charged for the Aegean and removed it before running the card which was nice but the bill clearly showed NO pepperoncini so WTAF, Kitchen? Did you just grab a premade salad, dump meat on it and hope for the best? Ugh. We were seated in the corner booth, party of four. Two of us were somewhat comfortable with the pillows. The one in the corner itself was not and the poor person stuck in The Interview Seat felt quite awkward. It was also quite loud in there. Suffice it to say, I would not elect to go back.

Finally got to visit this place. We sat at the bar, the wait for a table was quite long, but it was a Friday night. You're safe if you come after 8pm tho, seems like less people are dining around that time. Anyways, onto the food. We over ordered so we got to try a lot of the items. Unsure of the real names, but description of dish should be okay. Calimari - very tender, semi crispy. Unsure about the batter because it felt like it wasn't cooked all the way or the outside wasn't crispy enough. It was just an odd bite for me. The calamari seems fresh and they don't skimp, it's thick pieces & lots of tentacles. Meat balls with pita - this was good, 4 giant meat balls (beef & lamb) it has a stronger lamb taste, if you're not into lamb. Must have it with the sauce & pickled cucumber. Lamb & beef gyros - this was really good. The meat was flavorful & love that yogurt sauce they use with it. It comes with really good fries (similar to checkers fries style) I would come just for the fries, but this was really good. Souvlaki - we got chicken & beef, comes on a bed of rice. This was pretty disappointing. Felt like the meats were bland, nothing stands out for me. Even the rice was just okay. It comes with 3 different sauces that gives the meat flavor, otherwise meat by itself was okay. Loved the sauces that came with it. The garlic aoli one went great with the fries we got also. Potatoes - we never got it. They never brought it. Told us it was coming, as we already had all of our left overs packed up. I saw another table getting it & I know they ordered after us. We sat at the bar and it was really busy, so service was okay. We ordered a lot of food for 2 people & glad the potatoes ended up not coming but sad it was just missed. The apps came out really quick but the mains took a bit longer to arrive there after. They're still working out kinks, but food is good for the most part. Glad for them to be something different in royal oak. I also love the decor. Also note that the app for wait time didn't really update. It just said still over 70min wait even tho the 2 parties ahead of us sat down already. And if you're lucky, u can sit at the bar. Didn't get to try the drinks, but they also looked good.

Beautiful space and each component of the dish was cooked and seasoned well. Friendly staff too.

Saturday night before 6:15 PM arrival. We were told it would be about a 25 minute wait for a bar seat or a table. We put down our name for a table. Try to be conservative on seating estimates. We are seated in less than 5 minutes after getting a text, our table was ready. Sophia is waiting on us. She recommended Souvlaki. I told her I don't eat red meat, asked if I could get more veggies instead of the bed of rice the meat skewers were place on, she said there are no substitutions. If I want more veggies and no rice, it would be an add on. She then recommended lamp chops, I reminded her against that I don't eat red meat. Why wouldn't you just give a few more zucchini slices instead of rice? How cheap are they? Lost a $28 entree order. Ordered beet salad, Greek salad, calamari, octopus, chicken gyro, crispy feta and phyllo and Greek salad with grilled chicken on it ($7 add on). $113.42 Discount if you pay with cash. The octopus is super tender. Arugula salad was simple, but good. Hummus is flat and tasteless to me. This young judgy man came over to our table to tell me that taking a top view of the calamari dish is a bad picture, that I should take from different angles. I less than amusedly let the staff know that I always take at least 3 pics of food at different angles. The calamari is slightly crispy, but more heavily breaded and quite greasy for me. Lots of tentacles pieces in the bowl, left them for my hubby, since he doesn't mind them much. The feta phyllo was so-so, not so special and rather bland. It's a long hunk of feta wrapped in phyllo and that's about it. The Greek salad was ok. The mixed greens are all on the bottom and are full leaves, so a bit tough to get at to cut down to eat. The beet salad was lack luster, the whipped goat cheese was not as good as actual goat cheese for me. The chicken gyro was blah, my husband wasn't loving the big chunks of pickles in it too much and it only had a bit of chicken in it. It's not anything special, wasn't what he expected and rather flavorless. The fries were as expected and slightly seasoned. Service was average. It's rather pricey if you think about it being Greek inspired food and costing over $100 for one entree and several starters.

Great food, amazing service, excellent addition to the Royal Oak restaurant scene. We started with the octopus and pita with sauces, and had an original gyro and a beef, a chicken and a veggie souvlaki as mains. Ended with a dessert flight. Sat at the bar, where Nick was quick on the service and ensured we had everything we could have needed. All in all, a fantastic dinner experience.

    Horta

Wonderful!! Highly recommend! Margaret was a wonderful server and the food was outstanding. We had the lemon potatoes, horta which is slow cooked wild greens, and the Mezze platter, which is slimmer to a sampler platter. So good!!

Really great quality Greek food! The saganaki came with a side of honey and it paired so well with the salty savoriness of the cheese! The service was excellent, almost too attentive at times but there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant in the late afternoon on a weekday so I can't fault them for that haha. The gyro was stuffed and so flavorful, loved the seasoned fries as well!! I definitely want to come back for the souvlaki some time. Such a lovely spot to have on Main! The postcards are a cute touch as well.

This is a new place in Royal Oak and you haven't heard too much about it. It's definitely a gem in the rough. The place is small but definitely worthy of the date night. The bartender was extremely friendly come over and showed us the special cocktail menu and chatted with us for a little while because the place is new. The waiter was very friendly and informative, we ordered the saganaki, and I had to say I was a little disappointed in the size for an appetizer it was rather small. The gyros were generous, the meat was definitely fresh and there was a lot of it. I would come back for cocktails and if I had someone special to take out an impress. It would be more of a dinner place for me than for lunch.

Was just here again - really loved this spot - and brought my parents back while they were visiting. Another terrific experience. My one note from the last visit was a cocktail that integrated mastiha - and this time they delivered! A riff on the Last Word, swapping out the luxardo for the mastiha. Loved it! Went for a gyro this time - their fries are delicious - and their beef salad is exquisite. We will be making this more of a regular stop!

It seemed like we came in just as they were opening. We were the only table and it made me a little worried. The services was incredible attentive. The bar tender brings your drinks to the table so they dont sit at the counter waiting for a server. I was really excited about the greek potatoes--i have only had them when my wife makes them, I have never seen them at a restaurant. They were very good but I wanted some more lemon tartness and some feta cheese. I had a meatball appetizer and they were flavorful and juice. Their tzatziki could use a bigger kick of garlic, but again, I think I am used to homemade flavors to my taste. Needless to say by the time we left the place was becoming really busy. Overall I want to come back. It was a great experience.

Blue Goat, Greek restaurant, recently opened up and didn't disappoint. Cozy space with a long couch with pillows along the wall (very comfy). Great service - attentive staff! Food is mostly very good. Grilled octopus is one of the best I had. Vegetable salad was tasty and fresh. Souvlaki was served with 3 sauce cups - spicy feta is yummy! Unfortunately, chicken skewer was dry and beef skewer meat was chewy. Flavor was good but could be better. Also while I liked lemon potatoes, I prefer traditional kind. Overall, enjoyed the experience and want to come back to try other dishes - like branzino.

I've been back a couple times in the past few weeks and they haven't faltered in their quality of food and service. I was greeted with welcoming faces in both of my most recent visits. They are very polite and patient in the ordering process (imagine Subway, but actually tasty and Greek). Everything is incredibly fresh, from the bread, to the meats, and veggie toppings. The chicken lemon rice soup is soothing to the soul, even on an 80 degree day. When I received my online carry out order, it was securely stapled in a bag. The soup was in a vented cup, assuring there would be no spills and the cup was placed in a cute festive bag, good enough to reuse as gift bag. The plasticware and bread was also stored in cute bags. What prompted me to write a review was the candies with the plasticware!! What delightful surprise! Thank you Kouzina!

We got the one with multiple meats (loved them all) and also got a side of hummus and pita. They have some nice house hot sauce that tastes a bit like tobacco. The vibe is cozy, clean, cute, with tables that are a little high (I felt like a little kid as I ate). They also have a pleasant outdoor patio. I appreciated the array of beautiful healthy food toppings choices, including the most flavorful Greek olives!
