Fabulous dinner for our 70th! Two friends and husbands celebrated birthdays on Dec. 6. We all enjoyed the specials (salmon with Asian slaw and steak with mashed potatoes) which were cooked perfectly. The manager cordially greeted us and asked if all was satisfactory. Our server, Jillissee, was especially helpful, gracious and a delight! We were even offered a delicious ice cream pie and glass of champagne to celebrate (on the house). All in all, a wonderful evening! We will be back I'm sure. I had hesitations about eating here, it is afterall, the freaking Candlelight and anyone who grew up here has been forced to eat here for some occasion or another. I was impressed by the wine selection, I will give them credit for that one. The food however, was nothing to write home about. The steaks were pretty good, I had tuna 2 ways...horrible. Terrible cuts of tuna, horrendous sauces. They do the whole, "sides to share" for the table. I'm not a fan of this...I don't want steak sides with my delicate fish dinner, thanks anyway. we went on Valentine's day. The place was very crowded as expected. They were still able to move people through without feeling rushed.the menu was um they're normal menu plus a few Valentine's Day specials. Our server was excellent. She was prompt courteous and entertaining. We ordered 2 appetizers and 1 meal. The kalamari salad was superb. The tuna tar tar was some what bland and mushy. The scallop was delicious. Great variety of choices on the menu. It definitely has something for everyone. The atmosphere for the restaurant is great, it is a romantic spot for date go-ers, or anyone who would like a fine dining experience. Our waitress as well as the waitstaff were friendly, they would constantly check on us to make sure we were okay. Our drinks were always filled and the service was speedy. The courses had perfect timing. It allowed us to eat, wait for 10-15 minutes after our app and then eat our entree, it definitely allow and us to digest and get room for the next course. Blue is on the higher end on pricing but extremely worth it. You get the fine dining experience as well as quality of food. The platings were beautiful and the food was great. I give this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 only because I feel like it should have some sort of dress code to go along with the atmosphere. Went to Blue for my daughter's graduation dinner. We ordered multiple selections off the prix fixe menu plus a few a la carte items. Service was very good. And the prix fixe servings were generous! Raw oysters were also very tasty as were the soups (soup du jour and lobster bisque). Salmon was unexciting, though, and the accompanying veggie (a take on kimchee) was -- well, we didn't finish it and didn't ask for a doggie bag. However, biggest disappointment was the inconsistency in how the steaks (filet mignon) were cooked. We asked for medium rare. One was per that request, but another was almost well done. For a grillhouse to mess up the doneness of a steak .. hmm. My group had a decent time, but I was not impressed. read more

Great food. Young staff that has sort-of the correct pronunciations, but are eager and polite enough. Sadly, once the server received the paid check with her tip she never returned even to fill a water cup. The entire staff displayed an annoyance for three friends getting together and lingering. There were plenty of tables, they weren't trying to seat anyone else...they were trying to get us to leave so they could leave. Sadly for them, that made us linger longer. Pricey meals, drinks, dessert, and specialty coffees were ordered and great tips given...filling our water while we finished up chatting would have been the customer friendly thing to do. Guess that's when the age of the server and lack of regard for customers shined through the most. Next time the server will not be given the check to cash out until the very end. Pricey but nice environment for the area. Aside from the loud drinkers at the outdoor bar - we ate out on the first come... patio not having reservations- we got the 14 oz. Lobster tail with crab meat and a 6 oz tail with cowboy rib eye. The crab stuffing was one of the best I've had, but the $100 plus big tail was a little under cooked. The smaller tail was cooked well and tasted great. The rib eye was very good, but it's not a good value when I can do an equal or better one. Overall, it was costly but a nice indulgent evening out. Ambiance is so-so. It's darker inside. I wonder if it would look super dated with the lights on? Food was great - service was spectacular (they clean crumbs off the table between plates). If you're in to steak and seafood, order your fillet Chesapeake style to get some fresh crab on top. Sides are served family style so find a few the table agrees on. I strongly recommend the brussels sprouts, they're served almost in slaw-form with bacon and were amaaaazing. This location is great for a business dinner. read more

A customer for nearly 10 years. If you can disregard the ambiance and the bread, then the balance of the meal is mediocre at best with small quantities, and loud background music. The food was fabulous and our server, Tammy, was super friendly, attentive, and did all she could to give us a wonderful night! A beautiful restaurant that has so much going for it and really makes you feel at home. Indoor and outdoor covered dining, both with a big, beautiful and fully stocked bar. Service staff are well dressed, personable and professional. Cleanliness shines throughout the massive space and even though this is a very big space there is still a level of intimacy. Provisons are all top quality and are prepared exactly the way that you ordered. Prices are high for the area but you get what you pay for. There are no alternatives in the area for this quality and their pricing proves that they know. Go for that "high class" NYC dining experience without the 90 mile trek into that spoiling metropolis. Save the gas money and tolls and spend them closer to home. A "winner". I will go back ! read more

Went there for Valentine's Day with a reservation we made a few months ago. Sat in the bar area for over an hour and had a few drinks and appetizer. The waiter was great. Out of nowhere some Manager guy comes up and tells us he needs the table. Told him we have been sitting there for over an hour and buying food and drink. He sends over Mike the "General Manager". Mike tells us the same and threatens that if we don't vacate the bar table he would not honor our restaurant reservation. We figured after that treatment, no sense in buying their high priced dinner. The epitome of overpriced "fine" dining. Let's be clear...the food is good, the wine selection is great, and the service get's no complaints....but if you can explain to me why it deserves the pricing it get's, I am all ears. The place is very nice, beautiful decor, very trendy setting. I believe they even have or had a cigar bar...cool, if you're into it. Have been three times, just to make sure I wasn't missing something. Once with another couple, who raved about the place, and we found it to be just alright. Second time was with a buisness function, so the check was picked up by the company...and I still felt like the place was suffering from delusions of grandeur. Last time was a few of us, for a friends birthday...we all had a great time, enjoyed a bit of wine, light fare and some deserts. Now I no wine is not cheap when purchased within an establishment, but 125% mark ups on a same bottle I purchased the day before at the local wine and spirits!?!? Oh well, I suppose some people just enjoy the feeling of dumping tons of money on a dinner/evening at places like this...a false sense of satisfaction, for having indulged in something so pricey in a upscale setting maybe? read more

First time I went there I enjoyed my meal. The bartender had trouble making their martini's so we had a lot of taste tests. The food was excellent and the service was phenomenal. The only issue I had is that there were no less then three people watching us eat. If something was dirty, then came and replaced it. If there were crumbs from the bread they came and cleaned them up. It was too excessive. The waitress knew exactly what drink went well with each meal we ordered. She also took our complete order without even taking out a pen. Fast forward to this year. Our steaks were very undercooked. OK, they said they would correct the problem. This is where the night was a bit interesting. My wife cut a few pieces of steak as did I to check how cooked it was. When the steaks came back from the kitchen they were the same steaks we sent back, except now overcooked. The manager came over and asked us if there were any issues with our meal. I told her flat out that for $42.00, a steak should not be put back on the grille. A new piece should have prepared. The manager agreed and without any suggestion from us, removed it from the bill. I still tip based on what the bill would have been and so it was a very expensive evening for excellent soup, bread and desserts. The restaurant decor is nice. It is not overly done and the dim lighting seems to make one assume that it would be a quiet evening. However, they were sitting everyone in one section when we were last there and it was one of the loudest places I have eaten a fancy meal. If I am spending $$$ (which is rare) I expect a quiet, slow evening. After all, this is not a burger joint where they usher you in and usher you out to get another table sat. read more

Perhaps my 15th+ visit to Blue, this nite was for Mom's birthday dinner with a party of 6. The place is beautiful, and the service was ok, should have been better for having 2 waiters. I feel there has been a change in food quality here the past 6 months. It is pricy, but was happy with what I recieved in the past. Little things like frozen french fries instead of fresh cut at a restaurant of this caliber are not acceptable to me. Bring back fresh cut french fries! I have heard such amazing things about this restaurant only to be completely disappointed. I've only been for a private party event and not an actual dinner but after that I don't think I am willing to give this place another shot. The atmosphere is really nice and the party rooms look great! But looks can be deceiving. My husbands chicken was not cooked and was pink. The food was not tasty at all to say the least. BRUNCH So my parents were visiting from out of town and my husband and myself were looking for a nice brunch location, not a diner but an actual restaurant (with a full bar of course). I was hesitant at first because I see that Blue has mixed reviews, but the two other locations that I called first (The Bolete and the restaurant at the Hotel Bethlehem) were all booked. Wow, am I glad that we ended up at Blue! First off, the place was very empty, I'm assuming because not many people know that they have brunch. Plus, if you're looking for a more upscale dining experience one doesn't tend to look in that neighborhood. Don't let this fool you. The restaurant is beautiful, wonderful atmosphere, great layout, and great seating options. We were very kindly greeted and escorted to a booth immediately, even though we were twenty minutes early. Right away we all noticed that it was very chilly, though we mentioned it to our maitre'd and she adjusted the temperature of the restaurant promptly. Our server was a very nice lady who was sharp, kind, friendly, and professional. The menu had a nice variety that made choosing just one option difficult for us. (The menu is available on their website). The food: My mother and myself each had a mimosa. Normally I will easily go through at least two during brunch (because after all, isn't the whole reason for brunch an excuse to drink before noon?). Well these mimosas were a bit larger in size than I'm used to, and also a bit stronger! I worked on it my whole meal and felt no need for more. My father had the house bloody mary and said that it was the best bloody mary he's ever had (and he's had quite a few throughout his travels). Just as during dinner it is common for a basket of bread to be brought to the table, we were given a plate of a banana coffee cake. What a nice and delicious surprise! It was clear by the lightly sweet and fresh taste that the baker knew what they were doing. For a starter we ordered a spiced donut... wow. Delicious. I know that I'm using that word a lot but hey, when the shoe fits. For entree's my mother and myself had the classic eggs benedict, my father had a roasted pepper omelet, and my husband had a sausage and bacon omelet (the real name of the dish is escaping me right now). Each dish was served with potatoes that reminded me of home cooked- if you lived with a professional chef. The eggs benedict was wonderful. The hollandaise sauce was light and flavorful, the eggs were poached perfectly (light and fluffy), and the canadian bacon was as delicious as it ever is. My only complaint was that the english muffin part of my eggs benedict was a bit difficult to cut with my butter knife. I am fairly confident that if I had expressed this concern to my server that I would have been provided with another option for cutlery, though I was too busy deciding which part of my dish I should bite into next. Everything about this dining experience was supurb. They mentioned that they have a wonderful lunch menu that is surprisingly inexpensive (a burger with a salad for under $7.00), and that on week nights they serve a prix fix three course dinner menu for $29.00 (or $29.99). I am disappointed that I have been in this area for so long and haven't discovered this gem until recently! read more

Like several previous reviewers, I went here with a large group for a celebratory dinner with a pre-set menu. From working in restaurants, I know how hard these types of events can be to pull off without severely compromising food quality. In a few words, the staff pulled this one off in smashing fashion. After reading all the positive reviews, I made a reservation for my birthday. When I got there with my partner, the place was half empty. We could not decide which room to dine at. It was lacking atmosphere and felt generic as a restaurant in a chain hotel. Outdoor area was nice, but did not feel to dine with the view of the parking lot. I spent about 10 minutes wondering around the place with no one asking if I needed help. Final decision we walked out without dining. If just hungry I could stay at home. Wait staff is friendly. Not stuffy like hostesses. Some of the food is surprisingly below what you'd expect. I think their bread and butter is selling the wine by the bottle, and hosting parties. I don't understand what this restaurant is supposed to be good at in terms of food. The steaks are mediocre and the sides weren't anything to write home about. I find that severely disappointing. I love good steak. I don't mind paying for expensive steak if it's up to par. It's not a seafood restaurant either. The food tasted overly salty and lacked any sort of standout flavor. The tastes seemed all muddled and not harmonious in the least. However I will say that I've been coming here for some time and the cheese plate and martinis are great. They have a nice wine selection and a comfortable bar area that doesn't scream "Applebees." For the money you're paying for dinner I'd recommend going elsewhere. If you want nice drinks and some appetizers somewhere without deafening music I'd recommend a visit. The service was okay. Nothing to write home about. In terms of actually getting in the restaurant they have a lot less parking spaces than you'd expect. And the lot isn't a fun one to circle around in. Oddly it seems that people come here in very casual clothing. The exterior and interior decor make me think at least business casual but nope, you'll see folks in jeans. read more

I haven't been here in years and I remember absolutely loving it the last time. I couldn't wait to try the lobster bisque again, but was sorely disappointed. It came out lukewarm, at best, and had very few chunks of meat in it. The flavor, however, was great. The scallops for me were under-cooked and kind of flavorless. The mashed potato side was okay. For the amount this restaurant charges for their dishes, I expect something better than what I got. The design and layout of the restaurant is great, though, and makes you really feel like you are able to have a private conversation. The service, too, was excellent. read more

This was my first time here. It is a very eye appealing building. The interior is very well designed. The staff were polite, knowledgeable and on top of things. I had the crab ravioli which was very tasty. A great pasta pouch. My entree was the swordfish which was their "Catch of the Day'. It was cooked perfectly and appropriately seasoned. The bread served was fresh and warm. The olive bread was delicious as was the multigrain bread. My only ding on the place is their selection of beer. My wife and I just visited Blue last night for our 8th anniversary. We've driven by often, but never been there and figured for an anniversary, it was worth the splurge. We were warmly welcomed by the host and promptly taken to our seat even though we arrived 15 minutes earlier. Our waiter greeted us not long after, offered us water and didn't make us wait to order an additional drink. We both decided on a martini. I got the special pumpkin spice and it was delicious and strong! We heard the specials as our waiter shook our martinis and served them at the table, and were able to order our meals after not much longer. The entire night seemed to move this smoothly, like a well oiled machine. No sooner had we finished our soup and salad starters, then our entries arrived. Neither of us eat steak, but were looking forward to the seafood. I ordered the big eye tuna, which came on a bed of rice over a sesame teriyaki sauce and was topped with ginger. The tuna was cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered and was a generous size. The entire meal was so delicious, I didn't leave anything behind! My wife ordered the scallops and shrimp which came with a risotto side. I had never seen shrimp this large, and she too ate every bite of the meal! After every course our dishes were whisked away by polite and kind staff. At the end of the meal, we were considering asking to see the desert menu, but our waiter brought us a massive slice of hula pie and two complementary glasses of champagne, wishing us a happy anniversary. The entire meal (3 martinis, soup, salad, two entrees) cost $120. All told, this was one of the best dining experiences I can remember. From the atmosphere, which reminded me of high end south Florida restaurants, to the wait staff, and of course the food. We will definitely be back! read more

I've eaten here several times, for lunch, dinner, as well as drinks and appetizers at the bar. The service has been impeccable every time. Whether you're a first-timer or a regular, the staff makes you feel welcome and like you're an old friend. (And watching the regulars interact with the staff gives you something to aspire to!) The steaks have always been cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Main entrees come with salad, always tasting like each ingredient was fresh picked. Sides come out family style so you can pick a few and enjoy lots of flavors at the table. I've also tried the pulled pork sliders, boneless wings, several flatbreads, and wings. The kitchen knows what they're doing no matter the plate. To top it off, a wine and beer selection to impress anyone. This was one of our favorite restaurants. Please see past tense! Our "out of town" friends love it. Last time we went, however,( we usually order from prix fixed ) was extremely disappointing. Ambience is always superb. The prix fixed menu is the same menu for a very long time, instead of changing up the options it is always the same ! My salmon was overdone, salad was , I feel not fresh, and the dessert cake was dry and nasty. I feel that the quality of the prix fixed is not the same as the other menu. That is sad. read more

This is one of the best grill house I have eaten in sometimes. And I have eaten at Emerill, in st-martin the french food capital of the Caribbean. The surrounding is top notch (up to NY's standard). Service was a bit quick though but still best porterhouse steak ever. read more
