Took a last minute jaunt to Bethlehem, PA to visit the area. We drove past Blue Grillhouse and decided to look into it. SO GLAD WE DID!!! What an amazing find. Unique dishes and amazing portion sizes. It's pricey, but worth it due to the portions. We had an entree named DUCK 2 WAYS, with Caesar salad and the most amazing soup I've ever tasted. They make the absolute best homemade SHRIMP & BUTTERNUT SQUASH BISQUE. I'd put it up against any other restaurant. Quiet cozy atmosphere and amazing wait service. We have been going to Blue for numerous years mostly for Sunday Brunch. We know the chef and many of the managers Today's breakfast was the worst ever The waitress had no clue what she was doing The manager tried his best to accommodate us but also to no avail When he saw the numerous problems with the order that was brought out totally incorrect and since we are good customers he should have said breakfast is on us for several problems But he said next time you come back we will do better. No need to discuss the breakfast problems but a fine restaurant like Blue it is unacceptable to have such ridiculous problems just for a breakfast of eggs. The waitress messed up but the manager didn't handle the situation correctly not for frequent customers like my girlfriend and I. But. Yes we will be back. This doesn't usually ever happen. We arrived asked for a table for two @3pm and hostess walked around like she looking for a table like there were none available, I presume it was a manager who stated to "just put them in a booth". We ordered off a very limited menu. Appetizers: Bacon wrapped scallops and a fried eggplant flatbread. Although good scallops could've been cooked a little more and bacon was very well done. Flat bread was amazing. We ordered a Lobster Roll and French dip. Couldn't taste the lobster at all it was lobster salad with ingredients overwhelming the lobster. French dip was very good. Everything is à la carte so I chose the upgraded Lobster Bisque that my husband swore tasted more like cheese than bisque. Our server Justin was polite courteous and timely. The béarnaise was good but a bit too much lemon. The bacon wrapped scallops with some sweet sauce, were less than anticipated. The scallops were overpowered by the sauce. The mac and cheese had quite a bit of crab meat, but the crab was totally lost in the dish. The bread prior to dinner was fresh and warm. Altogether a less than the fine dinning and price experience. Here for a business meeting and was not disappointed. We started with the Ahi Tuna, the Crab Dip, and the Boneless Chicken Wings. All was fantastic and right-sized for sharing. The Manhattans were spot on (with a Luxardo cherry added). The filets were tender and flavorful. The sea bass was well liked but the real winner was the Rack of Lamb. It was so good that we ordered a second plate to share for dessert! We ate in the dark wooded dining room which was appropriate for our meeting, but I sensed a lively vibe coming from the patio crowd and more of a locals-only feel in the bar. When spending $800 cash for a family gathering of seven, I would think Blues chef can accommodate it's patron with a no salt potato by washing the salt off. Simply cannot go wrong w/ the Porterhouse steak, a side order of crab stuffed lobster tail, lobster mashed potatoes and some delicious asparagus drizzled with hollandaise sauce. Oh and don't forget to pair it with a wonderful full bodied Cabernet!! The service is always spot on - attentive but not intrusive - but the place is always crowded so plan ahead! We just had my daughter's Sweet 16 at The Blue Grillhouse and it was amazing! April, the event coordinator, was a pleasure to work with and was very responsive and attentive. Having April and the Blue team in charge gave us all a great sense of confidence. Our guests are still raving about the cuisine, the friendly wait staff, the delicious appetizers and stations. With skilled bartenders and short wait times, the bar operated efficiently. The ballroom was quite lovely and could accommodate our large group. We enjoyed a great dancing party with a large enough dance floor for everyone! I could go endlessly about how wonderful our time at Blue was. Delicious food, great service. We were accommodated with a high chair for my toddler and sling for my infant car seat. While there is no kids' menu, the chicken parmigiana flatbread appetizer made for a great dinner for my toddler. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Lobster tail special was delicious. Waitstaff- both our waiter and others- were very friendly. The ambiance is very nice with music at the perfect volume to hear your table but not surrounding patrons. Super popular. Almost no parking left in a large lot. Reservations are a great idea. The food is high quality but the lobster bisque was almost room temperature, and the steak and sides were salty to the point that you could chew salt crystals in every bite. Our family recently held a birthday party for 12 and repast luncheon for 40 at Blue Grillhouse. The food, service, and ambience were excellent. We got lots of compliments on the steak frittes and sofrito salmon dishes as well as the salads. Cocktails were well chilled and mixed.Desserts were generous and delicious. I would definitely add that planning these milestone events was extremely easy and professional with prompt communication and all details addressed. Sides were great! Service at the table was great. My $51 steak had chewy gristle that should have been cut away, and was served warm, not hot. My $13 mango martini was really just mango juice. If there was any vodka in there it would surprise me. My wife's dry martini was served dirty. The front desk took 15 minutes to seat us in a half empty restaurant with a reservation. The nicest restaurant I visited in the Bethlehem/Easton area. Beautiful building with a large outdoor bar and patio, where I ended up sitting. Great service and really good food (I had the sea bass). My fiancé made reservations at Blue to celebrate my 25th birthday. The atmosphere of the grillhouse is upscale and romantic. Anthony was our waiter and gave us incredible service. He was super knowledgeable about the menu and had a fantastic attitude. As for the food, we ordered apps and entrees. We shared the bacon wrapped scallops and the stuffed oysters. Both were amazing, but the oysters had the edge and I would highly recommend them. You also get house bread and whipped butter at your table. Entrees: My fiancé ordered a filet mignon with a side of yukon gold potatoes. I ordered the Duck Two Ways. My fiancé said his meal was delicious, and I have to agree that mine was too! As a nice birthday surprise, the restaurant gave us a HUGE scrumptious piece of complimentary ice cream cake, crusted with cookie and topped with fudge and fresh whipped mascarpone cream. Blue has slipped the last 2 times we went. I gave them the benefit of the doubt last time, maybe an off day. 3 of us went last Saturday and while my son's filet was very good, my ribeye and my wife's lamb were less than average. Paid close to $300 for a very mediocre meal, but my disappointment was on birthday request not following through. When making the reservation on Opentable, we specifically mentioned birthday and ordered dessert-crème brûlée and requested a birthday candle which wasn't not followed through. When we asked the server for a candle, he came out with a table candle... we weren't trying to be difficult but it was not what we were expecting. As for the food, everything came out so slow. We ordered the French onion soup, which came out lukewarm (cheese was already solid), lobster bisque was tasty but salty. No issues on beef short rib en croute. For our main course, ordered 2 medium-cooked NY strip steak which came out close to well done. BBQ chicken was alright, and 2-way duck was dry. This was a nice place to have a good meal at. I ordered the 6 oz filet and it was very tender. My husband ordered the 16oz ribeye and he said it wasn't a very good quality of meat and he was a bit frustrated because the steak knives were not sharp enough to cut the meat. The restaurant reminded me of a Ruth Chris steak house. Everything is al la carte. We tried the mash potatoes, asparagus and garlic mushrooms. Watch out for the mushrooms, if you do not like Garlic then these will not be for you. Super strong, too strong for me. Only down side I personally had is the restaurant wasn't that crowded at 630 for our dinner reservations for four people. We were seated next to the entrance door of one of the areas. Which I hate, so you had me seated with back to the door and our other guest was seated almost in the entrance where the servers and other customers walk in. No reason why we couldn't sit in another comfortable seat. We spent $430 on dinner for 4 so you would think they would not put someone in one of the worst seating areas. I will say our waitress was very pleasant, it was a little slow at the beginning but she started to move a bit quickly after she got caught up. read more

I ordered curb side pick up from this restaurant on a Friday night. We ordered the French onion soup, Smoked Babyback Ribs, and Grilled 4 oz filet mignon with bruschetta. French onion soup - 3.8/5 definitely a little too salty once you get to the bottom of the soup but tasted good for the most part. It comes with a layer of cheese on top. Smoked babyback ribs - 4/5 The order came with coleslaw & fries. It was cooked really tender and came off the bone easily! Grilled 4 oz Filet Mignon - 5/5 Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and came with tomato bruschetta. They cut the steak in pieces. There was a balsamic vinaigrette on top as well. Although this was an appetizer, I was full off of it & would come here to order it again! My only problem with this place is that it took 50 minutes for our food to be ready, when they had originally told us 20 minutes. We were starving and rushing to get there. After 25 minutes passed, we called them and nobody gave us an estimate on when the order would be done. It was very frustrating to have to keep asking for updates and the restaurant definitely needs to work on this. read more

Service: polite, continuous and attention paid to details. Food: I had an eight oz Filet minion. My wife the sirloin. We had several table sides. The meal was impressive. So was the bill. So be advised drinks, dinner, desert and tip can set you back over $300. For fine dining in the Bethlehem area Blue is likely one of the very best. Mind you, though it's a chain I prefer Ruth Chris for being almost as good (while Blue has a slight edge on the steak I actually prefer Ruth Chris' side dishes - especially the lyonnaise potatoes and creamed spinach). The good stuff first - service was excellent - from the waiter who made sure we got our steaks done exactly right to the busboy to the extremely competent bartender who made a perfect Cosmo. Steaks were great, peppercorn sauce was very good, excellent wine choice, french fries were wonderful (crispy and not too skinny) and the sauteed mushrooms were excellent with the steak. Lobster bisque had a great flavor. Chocolate ice cream was delicious! Noise level was pretty good considering the lack of sound absorption - probably the half walls around some tables helped. It's not an ugly restaurant but it's not elegant either - very dark wood which would look great with some white linen tablecloths. The lighting was decent without being harsh - enough light to read the menu comfortably. Enough room between tables to feel like you weren't in someone else's conversation. I do have some quibbles about some of the food - for example, why serve such large portions of vegetables? No one finished any of them and of course none of our party could agree on one vegetable for all. The horseradish sauce was good but it overwhelmed the flavor of the tenderloin and the red wine sauce was very vinegary. Caesar salad was just not good - the quality of the parmesan was questionable in that it was probably not an aged reggianno with a nice nutty flavor and dry texture and the dressing did not taste like a traditional Caesar. The creme brulee was lacking in texture and flavor, almost like the custard didn't contain the necessary number of egg yolks - it was very white and kind of flabby. These criticisms don't mean it was a bad restaurant - it wasn't. It just advertises itself as an above average dining experience and even has a dress code. Maybe this area has a problem with people showing up in sweat pants?? I just felt underwhelmed for the price - no tablecloths, plastic coated wood tabletops and not above average food. I know this sounds contradictory after what I've just said but it was still a pleasant experience - nothing special but friendly and everyone was very accommodating. I would go there again with a better understanding of what to order. read more

We came here tonight and were nicely surprised, although the restaurant really could have done better with COVID-19 regulations, so I'm knocking off at least one star. We got the Caesar salad, calamari, duck entree, and crab mac and cheese. For dessert, the hula ice cream cake slice. Everything was very, very good. The only big problem I had was: 1) Some tables were NOT socially distanced, and diners were less about four feet next to one another. We have always loved Blue Grillhouse and all of the PAXOS establishments and visit all frequently, HOWEVER last night at BLUE GRILLHOUSE what a disappointment from my Old Fashion cocktail which had NO cherry and NO orange peel to our Duck Breast which (as someone who has been in the business) we could tell sat under the hot light too long. 42$ duck dinner was cold and dry. The plate was warm the duck was not. The lamb chops which are another favorite were served before they had time to sit which in turn causes the blood to puddle on the plate and the mash potatoes were like a cold rock. The steak frites dinner was killed, overcooked, dead and the sea bass was awful fishy for sea bass known for its mild white flakey meat. We wondered if the staff was preoccupied, was their "B" team or what was going on. We are somewhat particular foodies which is why the Paxo brand restaurants, Savory Grill and Ocean are our go to spots in the Lehigh Valley. We were to sadly say disappointed. We understand the business and a bad night however there were so many things at one table to even bother the waiter. read more

There were three of us. The service was good; the food was great. This time, I ordered their grilled fish sandwich. While I'm not sure what type of fish it was, I'm guessing Halibut or something similar. It was served on a bun with lettuce, tomato, and aioli. I also ordered (as I did before) crisp french fries. In my last visit, the medium burger and crisp fries had been reversed. This time, everything was perfect. I capped off the meal with an espresso. It was served in a demitasse with lemon zest. It was quite good. So, my prior review has been upgraded to be more in line with the other's that Blue typically gets. I'm happy I was able to see their real stuff. read more
