Very sweet coffee shop facing the Mount Kisco train station. My map led me to the train station itself but it's actually across the street next to a salon. The interior is very classy and sleek, with an old-timey French cafe vibe. The array of pastries looked fresh and tasty, though I did not partake this visit. I opted for the Caffe Shakerato, and while it was expertly prepared by the barista/owner, it just wasn't my bag -- it was very strong and the coffee was too bitter for me even though it had some almond milk added. Unbelievable gem! Phenomenal coffee and pastries - and the cutest most warm atmosphere.

Often times before driving any distance to a coffee shop, I'll call in advance and ask "do you have real baristas?" I did that today. And the gentleman said - with great confidence - "Yep, I'm here!" The photos on Yelp looked promising. Look at those nicely poured lattes. Look at that tulip! Look at that rosette! Look at what I got. And it tasted worse than it looks. read more

This shop is equal parts cute and quaint. I met a friend here with our kids -- my two year old, her 6 year old -- and the barista could not have been nicer and more accommodating to two looney children and their manic moms. I also feel like I'm never "seen" when I ask for sugar in the raw in my iced coffee drinks, but this guy totally understood that I wanted the sugar crystals for texture. I didn't partake in any food while at Blue Heron, but it wasn't for lack of wanting. The food looked incredible, and fast forward several weeks to this past weekend, my husband brought me coffee and treats from Blue Heron. I can now attest to the DIVINE sweets, which in this rotation were a scone with some sort of glaze, a muffin that was soft and tangy, and what tasted like an angel food cake. We were headed to visit family and wanted to stop for coffee on the way. I saw that Blue Heron was on the way and figured it was my kind of place. The shop is located in a cute downtown area. The shop itself is gorgeous. The counter area is conducive to chatting with the nice gentlemen working there. There's a nice display of coffee and tea and some baked goods that they make. My wife selected a pistachio latte and my father in law and I ordered Americanos. Took a quick taste and the pistachio latte was delicious, not overly sweet. I loved the Americano, bold but well rounded. There was a pleasant body to it. We also tried their almond cookies, absolutely fantastic! Awesome texture! The owner Matthew is so kind and nice to chat with at the bar while you enjoy your coffee. Signature espresso is the Lucca (medium roast with notes of toasted coconut and walnut). I had the mocha latte which pairs with a melted chocolate from Ghana (real chocolate, not syrup yay!) Was able to try the new drip blend Guatemalan: medium roast with notes of citrus/tangerine which is tasty as a cold brew with milk added. Definitely on the lighter side. As well as taste the single origin Mexico Oaxaca (medium roast, sweet cocoa, honey, caramel), which is a lighter/brighter espresso vs the Lucca. I also tried a tea on Matthew's recommendation based on some of the flavor profiles I liked in a black tea. Was able to smell the loose leaves before selecting and picked the one he recommended. It's nice and smooth, definitely smells like dark chocolate. I didn't need milk or sugar with it, which I typically do with black teas like assam. Also got a chance to taste the chamomile ginger as well, which is good if you like ginger flavor. Hot has less of a gingery taste, and if you steep cold for longer the ginger flavor really pops out. Matthew bakes some of the pastries himself -- the cardamom cookie (orange, coffee, cardamom) which has a really good texture, nice chew to it and the crunchiness of the sugar. Lemon cake and blueberry muffins as well (haven't tried these yet). The almond croissant is tasty and comes from le petit bakery in Brooklyn. The ambience is really nice. I liked learning about the espresso machine which is from Italy, 1905 technology, utilizing gravity to pull the water through the coffee. It's nice that there's no motor and it's really quiet. Theres barstools by the front and at the bar, as well as seats/tables in the back and outside. There's wifi as well if you want a change of pace. read more

I was so excited downtown Mount Kisco was getting another local, independent coffee-tea shop, especially after Mast had a fire and closed, moving to Bedford. This place has a VIBE, and it's a charming vintage one. The music is jazz and American standards, like Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra. There's historic sheet music art on the walls, a pressed tin ceiling, leather pin-cushioned stools, and even a rotary telephone. The gleaming copper Italian espresso maker is cool too. This place cares about quality -- a lot. It's classic European-style coffee, espresso, 30+ organic loose-leaf teas, ceremonial matcha and soon they'll have an authentic soda fountain! Like the 1940s-50s kind. I love the cortado, which is like a latte but with less milk. I also love the single-origin pour-overs, especially the Ethiopian one, which is smooth, light and fruity. I also love the Cold Brew Palmers: cold brew coffee with hibiscus iced tea. Sooo good. And the baked goods! All are house-made, fresh, and using real quality ingredients. Staples are the scones, cookies, amaranth protein bars, muffins, and lemon-yogurt cake. When there's a quiche -- get it. When there's a layer cake -- get it. They're often tea-inspired, always moist, not too sweet, and inventive. This place rocks. Come alone to hang at the coffee bar, sit at the window to watch the train go by, bring your laptop, meet friends and colleagues, whatever. It's open 5 am to 5 pm daily. Do it. read more

Coffee house meets speakeasy! I wouldn't have known it was here if it wasn't for seeing some Yelp reviews on it... which is kinda cool! This new coffee house with fresh beans and pastries up for grabs is a nice quiet oasis. Service is friendly and meticulous, and countertop seating makes it a great spot to find community (though there are also small tables if you'd rather hang solo) If you're parking: bring quarters (cheaper option!) or pay with an app. Gender neutral restroom, and no stairs in sight for my friends on wheels! What a gem! This new coffee spot is such a great addition to Mount Kisco, tucked right by the train. The owner Matthew ran some of my favorite restaurants in the West Village - Hamilton's soda fountain shop and Cafe Minerva - both top-notch. I'm so happy he's behind this new coffee and tea spot, with a deliciously- smooth Piccolo Latte (an espresso with less milk than a latte), and fresh Sullivan Street Bakery baked goods delivered every morning from the city (pretzel croissants and more). The spot has this classic, charming feel to it, with easy-breezy 1940s jazz, beautiful copper appliances, and outdoor seating. Open 5am to 5pm every day. 5 stars!!!! read more

Wow, I found this place doing a Yelp search and went in to try the coffee and found a gem. The interior is so classy and welcoming that it drawers you in to see everything. Very cool art collection that is over 40 pieces. I ended up have two coffees perfectly roasted , the homemade quiche and zucchini muffin. Fantastic FANTASTIC coffee!!!! The tea selection is terrific as well Matt (the owner) crafts the best lattes and cortados around!!! Ambiance is great...art deco-esque. The background music is inviting and not the banging invasive stuff so many coffee shops play. We were in Mount Kisco visiting another specialty shop and decided we needed to buy leaf tea. Searching Google and Yelp we find this little hidden gem of a shop. Matthew and his biz partner started up 6-7 months ago creating a homey atmosphere offering great coffee bean choices, as well as a wide array of leaf tea types. The shop is clean, comfortable and, though small, has a surprising number of tables and chairs including a counter top where you can enjoy a hot beverage and chat with the owners, which is what we did. They offer home made cakes and a variety of snack items. The best part is Blue Heron is not about trendy bubble tea or brunch nor anything like the "green mermaid." It's about quality, taste and charm. If we lived closer we would be regulars. Best wishes for a long and successful run. read more
