Blue Line Lounge is so freaking cute! Some friends and I met here before heading to a concert and it ended up being the perfect spot. Our server was so sweet and welcoming. She informed us that there was a Moscow Mule happening. We took advantage of it and it was delicious. We also ordered a couple shareables including nachos, pickle chips, fries, and boneless wings. Great happy hour martinis! For only $8 you can get any of their specialty martinis, and there's a lot of options, from dryer to sweeter to creamy to not. I ordered the pb and j martini, which is a house secret. Wowowowo I LOVED this drink. I could distinctly taste the peanut butter and jelly flavors and it was creamy and I couldn't taste the alcohol. I then got the Bellini and could only have a quarter of it, I didn't need any more drinks! It was pretty tasty, but the pb and j is a clear winner. I tried my cousin's cucumber royale, her favorite, and I could taste the alcohol so it was stronger but definitely refreshing with muddled cucumbers. My other cousin had the espresso me and didn't like it, said it tasted like chocolate milk. We didn't get food but my cousin raved about them having the best Mac and cheese ever. She said the best. How have I never reviewed Blue Line Lounge?! I absolutely love this place and make anyone detour here if we're in the area. Martinis are amazing - beer selection is pretty decent. They also have so many different specials during the week. I always forget that the food here is actually pretty good. If you like sweet potato fries, get them. Do not hesitate. They're actually crispy and not like some other restaurants that serve you a weird soggy mess. The fried pickles are also amazing. I will say, if you have a group more than 2-3, grab a booth. Especially if you're going to be playing any of the many, many board games that they have there. You'll be thankful for the extra space. read more

I came here on a Friday night near the end of their Happy Hour which is 5-7pm. It's a nice clean spot to grab a drink! The specialty martinis are really fun and only $7 during happy hour! We got a seat at the bar and we were helped reasonably quickly given that they seemed understaffed at the time. Even though it was packed there was no wait to seat ourselves. I got the passion fruit martini, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste since it also had a sugar rim, so I switched with my partner's cucumber royale which was more dry. When you enter it looks like a cute little diner, good music and nice staff. We sat in the back to get a more loungy feel ha. The food is original and tasty. They have martini happy hours that you can't miss ha. The lobster deviled eggs were so good, and the fried shrimp with some kinda sauce was sooooooo appetizing. Our goal this long weekend was to visit as many Chicago neighborhoods as we possibly could. What better way to get a feel for a neighborhood than visiting its bars! We love riding the "El" and spend most of our time on the blue line, so what better way to start my weekend reviews than the awesome Blue Line Lounge & Grill. Steps from the train platforms exit, this bar lured us in with the 3.00 PBR bottle sign. It was busy on a Thursday night around 9pm. This was also a Bears home game on Thursday Night Football. The city was hype, but the bar was laid-back and casual, just the way I like it. We found a table towards the back, near the huge, beautiful bar. Service was quick, fast, and perfect. Beautiful bartenders! My son and I had a few of those PBRs. My wife and daughter had some fancy drinks. Damen turned out to be one of my favorite neighborhoods in Chicago, and Blue Line is a great representative. Perfect bar experience and a place that I definitely will return to on our travels. read more

Evidently there is a faithful following of this restaurant although I don't see the draw. It's close to the Blue Line, which is convenient on blustery cold days, there is comfortable seating, large windows, and some-what friendly staff. I'm not a fan of fancy drinks so the mixology thing doesn't do much for me. The flat bread pizza was meh but the red wine was nice. This is not a family-friendly place as it caters to an an adult crowd. They don't seem to want kids around so leave them at home. Holy moly. I haven't had a favorite restaurant in a while. Let alone combo for favorite bar and restaurant. To start they play great fun music, and play classic movies on the TVs so just to start there's a lot going on but it feels like home for me and is very comfortable. It can be a little loud but it makes it intimate in my opinion. I love the low lighting and booth seating! So comfy. One side has a fireplace and feels more like a bar where as the other is more diner vibes. Their food is fantastic. I had the Reuben and the chicken pot pie and omg screw the Reuben (still so good) but get the chicken pot pie! My boyfriend and I split both but we really finished the pot pie. It's massive and so homey and comforting and hot and amazing. It's HUGE and so good ugh I already want another one. Check in with yelp and get a free jello shot ($1 anyways which is such a good deal.) And might I end this review of my favorite restaurant with the fact that they have board games!!!!! This was one of the first bars I came to when I moved to Chicago 6 years ago. They have made some major renovations since then, and the furniture looks much nicer. I've always loved their large selection of martinis and love even more that they are half off during happy hour which goes until 7pm. I think they do bar food well, but I wanted to have something a bit healthier so decided to take a chance on the salmon. Probably won't be having that again only because I specifically asked if i could have it prepared medium and the waitress informed me that that is how it comes, yet my salmon was well done and dry. I may sound old in saying that I also felt the music was unnecessarily loud, but my friends and I literally had to scream across the table to hear each other. When I hear "lounge" I picture a more chill environment. I do love that they have games available, but again, it's difficult to play games when you have to scream to be heard. Our sever was fine, but we were the most impressed by the busser who was removing plates and glasses like his life depended on it. A good after work option for a couple drinks and a snack. read more
