Our…read more1908 house had gone through some unfortunate late mid-century re-modeling stripping its original character and cluttering it with junky finishing and inefficient design. Mike Dolge, Jason, and James helped us re-build the front half of the house to be a more open, larger feeling living area with clever and charming built-ins that add needed storage space while preserving flexibility. They were able to blend building back in some Craftsman detail with a more modern, lighter sensibility that makes it feel like we added SF. Of the many compliments that we've received, my favorite is "it looks like this is the way it was always supposed to be," even though it looks and feels very different. We are so pleased with how it came out. Mike is creative, an excellent listener and had many good suggestions as to how to improve the space in the way that we wanted in a cost-effective manner. Both Jason and James, who did the majority of the work, are highly skilled carpenters who care about quality. We're kinda particular (my husband is a designer), so they had to do alot of checking in with us and problem-solving to get what we wanted. The whole crew are nice guys who were kind to my children and careful with clean-up. Mike also hires excellent subs who built a beautiful re-purposed madrona floor and tiled fireplace that Jason finished with the most gorgeous mantle of madrona. Highly recommend.

Pricing was reasonable and I bought the bluestone separately from a local supply company at cost, so just labor, sand, gravel and other materials. The project started the following Monday and Desantiel and team were done after 3 days. They picked up the stone on my behalf, so no additional delivery fees. During the entire project they worked diligently and asked a few questions to be sure everything was done to expectations. They worked full days with some rain while lifting 90 lb stones! Great communication and a friendly, professional interaction the whole time. Built in 1942, our house had been painted many times, but not for quite a while. It was bubbling, peeling, cracking and just looked terrible. And as with most homes built during that era, the old paint contained lead. It turns out these complicating factors were no problem for the Healthy Painting team. While Healthy Painting's estimate was not the cheapest we received, we could not be happier with the work they did and the experience we had working with them. It was quite obvious during the process that Darryl (owner) and Tom (project manager) are passionate about doing a great job and doing it to the customer's satisfaction. Fred did a spectacular job replacing my clunky over the range microwave/hood with a sleek new hood…read more The job turned out to be more complicated than expected because of several issues - some extensive cutting through my cabinets to make room for the new hood, no studs in my wall where they needed to be, a pipe being behind the wall where the screws needed to go, the vent on my new hood not matching the one in my house. I think a lot of people who are less experienced than Fred might have given up or would not have been able to complete the work. Fred is so creative and was able to come up with an elegant solution to each of the problems that came up during the job. He is very communicative and was clear at every step along the way. Because of these issues, the job took longer than expected but Fred made sure that it was completely correctly regardless! Not only that, he went above and beyond. He pointed out that the stop gap on my sink should face towards the sink in case of overflows, and even helped me out to take apart an ice machine bucket that I had been struggling with for weeks due to a stripped screw. I would highly recommend Fred for any job that you have. He is not only creative and experienced at what he does, but is also very friendly, kind, and honest. My job occurred during covid times, and he made sure to wear gloves and a mask as he worked as well. If you have a job, definitely reach out to him! There's almost nothing he cannot do :)
