Issue resolved within 24 hrs by Group 970 -- they contacted the location and talked with everyone to make sure everything gets handled correctly-- that night they wer having issues with the pizza oven but I guess the host didn't know how to respond. Very impressed with Blue Moose and how much they value customer satisfaction...can't wait to renew our tradition in the summer. Well we are really bummed that our Spring Break Tradition for over 10yrs to Blue Moose Pizza has come to an end. Arrived and the wait was 1 1/2 hrs for 4 people. To make matters worse there weren't even that many people waiting, tons of tables open and never offered the opportunity to sit at the bar tables which one was open. And when I asked the question of where are all the people the 'young man' host just kind of laughed at me....that was not nice!!! We've never has this kind of experience there and I am wondering what has happened. read more

$25 for this pie with everything? Paint on a wall had more thickness than the sauce on this pie! The edge 2 inches had nothing on it. They did remake the pie and I give them credit for that but the second was the same as the first. I was given a cup of sauce and put it around the edges, effectively creating bread sticks. The middle 6 inch diameter of the pie contained 75 percent of the ingredients and was stuck to the box. One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Waited 90 minutes for our food which came out cold. The manager basically told me if I didn't want to come back who cares. They've been in business for 20 years with or without me. Having managed a restaurant in my younger years I wouldn't suggest this approach. I'm sure they will continue to prosper without me but really a horrible service level. I won't be back. I did tip the server 20% (which is low for me) but I suggest she seeks a better employer. read more

We've eaten here before, years ago, but thought we'd give it another try. If there had been another option, we would have opted for it...but alas, the Blue Moose it was. The ambiance is great! The location is great and they obviously have a captive audience and no competition. Near the Arabella and the ice rink...I see how they're still in business. The pizza is sub par. It's not NY style so don't expect it. The Caesar salad was good. Fries were over salted. My Arnie Palmer was bad (how can you mess that up? - the tea was so weak I might as well have ordered a lemonade). Both sets of our silverware was dirty...not just water stains but chunks...I don't understand how lazy one is to wrap it anyway. Our service was great! Frank served us and he was pleasant. Smiling faces and attentiveness all around. I would have given it 3 stars if our silverware hadn't been filthy, all tightly wrapped up in a paper napkin, and the bathrooms had been cleaner. I always base cleanliness on the bathroom...curious how the kitchen looked. We'll give it another 5 years before we try again. read more

We love this place! It is a refreshing, down-to-earth destination after a day of skiing at Beaver Creek. They have great pizza at reasonable prices - a refreshing change over the high premiums at other Vail/Beaver Creek restaurants. Our server Betsy is now known as "our favorite server ever!" Oh the Blue Moose! This is my wife's (and mine) favorite spot in Colorado. Hearty ingredients without a lot of fuss. We always get the pizza and some local beer. We came out this winter and plan and coming again this summer. Special note to this review: All of the employees wear name tags with the location they hailed from. This place is under-rated. The pizza is excellent and I judge harshly. Crust is perfect. I had the mushroom combination with truffle oil etc. It has no red sauce so cannot say how the tomato sauce would be. Beer was the best I've had in awhile...an IPA that I was told very hoppy. Went there last year for a corporate event, and the pizza was slightly better than average. But the service was not that great. My wife and I decided to give them a try after the same corporate event this year. Didn't think the service could get worse but it did. Waited for 5 minutes at the hostess stand to get seated despite not being crowded and no one else waiting. Countless servers and other employees walked by us with no one acknowledging us. Finally, got seated. Left after 10 minutes because no server ever came to our table let alone acknowledged us. Told them in green crayon how bad they are. My daughter's soccer team made a group reservation to have a team dinner. We were told that the cost would be almost $20 per person ($19.26 to be exact) to have our team dinner at their restaurant. The cost included a pizza / salad buffet and a soft drink. I was shocked at the cost of this "deal" because we could come in and order a large specialty pizza for about $23, but since we were coming in as a group, it was going to cost me $80 to feed my family of four. Additionally, my kids are 11 and 7 years old and will only eat two pieces of pizza!!! I complained about their policy and was contacted by Sarah Franke, the Communications Manager. She stated "Unfortunately the policy and pricing are based on the space we are reserving for the group and the effort of coordinating an easy location and manner for the teams to gather." I fail to see how moving a group of tables together justifies a 75% price increase for a family of four! Does anyone else think this is the most ridiculous "policy"?! read more

I really enjoy the Blue Moose in Vail, but the Beaver Creek branch is managed poorly. Two weeks in a row, they have closed for a private party (no published ad to alert potential customers) on a night with a full house concert at the Vilar Performing Arts Center. So we were up there a few weeks ago for the sites and sounds and wanted some pizza. (I've intentionally waited a while to write the review to cool off and try and be unbiased.) We request a seat, told it will be a 30 minute wait and given a beeper. Fine. We take the kids down to the splash pad 30 feet away and wait. We wait and wait. After an hour and half we ask about the table. Instead of an apology or explanation I get an assholesque "I've been paging you guys for a long time!". I hand him the unflashing pager and he mumbles that it must be broken. Our order is taken for Hawaiian style pizza. 10 minutes later we are told the restaurant is out of Canadian Bacon. Fine. We order something else. 10 minutes into our shitty meal they bring out a slice of Hawaiian and state the Canadian bacon miraculously reappeared. Big issue here is that my pregnant wife and upset kids had to wait way too long for below-average pizza, were treated poorly and were lied to. I've eaten in dive pizza joints in New York and the service at Blue Moose Pizza is hands down the worst ever. Had a special pizza (Vonndervul I think) and a the Blue Moose. Also had the wings. The pizza crust is pretty thin. Overall, the food was just ok. It wasn't anything special. The service was pretty bad. The waiter was clearly annoyed that I had young ones with me (4 and 2). Um, it's a pizza place. Don't be annoyed....and, in case you're thinking that my kids we're bring obnoxious,they were not. I would have given 3 stars if it weren't for the service. read more

Stopped in on a busy weekend night near closing time, was seated fast and waited on by super friendly staff. Blue Moose has been a family favorite for us that we visit multiple times when we're in Vail, but it's doubtful we'll ever return again after my son was brought to tears by our waiter, Josh from Houston, on Fourth of July 2013. He forgot to input my son's order with the rest of our order, which would have been fine (he comp'd it), but he put my son's order in the main queue of orders on a busy night--leaving my son waiting another 30 + minutes to get his pizza. It wasn't until I finally asked the status that Josh did anything about getting the order bumped up in the queue. He suggested to my son to eat some of our pizza while he waited--which was my son's breakdown point and he began crying (he's a very picky eater and felt it was someone forcing him to eat something he couldn't stomach). When I asked to speak to the manager at that point, he pretty much said no--that the manager was the person who moved my son's pizza up in the queue finally and that's all he could do. I've worked food service and this shouldn't have happened--you should always ensure "fixes" are moved to the front of the queue and ensure family's with small children get their kid's needs met. I realize that this was a one waiter on a busy night experience, but one bad experience has definitely overshadowed all the good of the past. read more

My husband and I had dinner here while staying in Beaver Creek. The food was great with reasonable prices. I have never had a restaurant manager go out of his way and be so helpful! The servers were all wearing navy blue shirts that had a Colorado flag with a moose in the middle. I noticed that the restaurant sold the shirts but was told by the restaurant manager that they did not currently have my size in stock. He told me that they also had a location in Vail and he called to see if they had my size there. They did but I was there with a group of people that came on a bus and did not have transportation to Vail. He told me that he lives near the restaurant in Vail and that he would stop and get my shirt for me. I went the next day after 4pm like he told me and there was my shirt waiting for me. A friend and I went there for lunch yesterday and we were disappointed, not only with the food, but with the service. The portions were very small for the prices of our entrees. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana and the waiter brought me the eggplant sandwich, which I refused and asked again for the parmigiana entree. When it finally arrived I was stunned to see that the eggplant portion of the dish consisted of two strips of Japanese eggplant. The sauce was very good, but I basically filled up on a plate of pasta, not eggplant parmigiana. My friend had lasagna and it looked like a child's portion. We will not return. Will be looking for a good eggplant dish here in the Valley. read more
