Pazzo's Pizza has remained one if the best NY style pizzas since I first had it in 1996. I found it when a bellman in Vail said it was a must. Now with each visit over the last 30 years it still remains the best! We now typically go to the Avon location, which could benefit from a good cleaning and update, but it is still a fabulous place to dine in with the family it order to go. We ordered a chicken parm meal and they brought a sub by mistake. They brought a chicken parm meal an hour and a half after we sat down after the rest of the party was done eating. They brought the wrong salad and then when we tried to speak to the manager he said he was not comping the meal and stormed out and slammed the door without even trying to listen to the situation. We also had a broken glass for 1 of our drinks and the server couldn't remember any of our orders and had to re-ask multiple times. There were honestly so many mistakes I can barely remember. I rarely write reviews but this has to be the worst dining experience I've ever had. The only saving grace could be the pizzas we ordered were pretty good. Ambiance is like a bar, busy, crowded, loud - but perfect if you use my standard of the Italian rest stop on the E70 just outside of Torino where when the automatic doors opened I was greeted with a wall of sound. Singing in fact. By the carabinieri with their uzis at their sides, espressos in hand, singing with the stop owner. So yeah, this place is loud, but it's a happy loud. Friendly folks just trying to make sure everyone's happy and getting pizzas and orders this way and that and out the door and onto tables. We didn't want to wait a half hour for a table, and another 50min that night for a pizza, so we ordered takeout - 35min and done. High altitude baking is no joke - either you get it or you don't, and these guys got it. Crust was excellent, a little puffy and not too bready; sauce was balanced, not too salty or sweet or weird or whatever. We also got Caesar salad which was well dressed and still crisp and fresh, and their baked rigatoni didn't make it through the night as my kids devoured it (OK I helped some too). It took around 15 minutes to finally get our drinks and we noticed that people who had arrived after us were served before we were. When we finally ordered and received our food I just didn't think it was that good. I ordered the veggie calzone and it was honestly one of the worst calzones I've ever eaten. It was horrible but was lacking in flavor. I will say our cheese bread was alright. My boyfriend ordered ravioli and although he thought it was alright I thought it was also lacking flavor. It was pretty busy when we went and we were seated near the entryway which was an issue when new people would come in because they'd stand in front of our table since there was no room in the entryway. This is our go-to pizza place in Avon. The pizzas are always top rate and watching them spin the dough is a highlight of our meal and probably why the crust is so damned good. But on our most recent visit (August 2025) our experience was marred by two things: there was only one server for the restaurant. Half of the patrons were sitting on the patio and the others were inside. Plus she was also having to bus the tables! So it took her about 15 minutes to get over to our party of 5 sitting inside. Secondly, we were seated at the large table just inside the door to the patio and at the end of the bar. There was a man sitting at the end of the bar who carried on a very loud and unending conversation with the cook. And they continued serving him one beer after another so he kept getting louder and louder. We would have asked for another table but the patio was closing and the other half of the restaurant was already closed. Despite these circumstances we will return the next time we're in Avon next summer. And hope for better results. read more

We asked the valet at the Westin where we could find good pizza and they said go to Pazzo's. We were not disappointed! I ordered the cream of carrot soup. By far the best soup I've ever had. The waiter said every day was a different homemade soup. It was perfect for a cold day. My son ordered pizza and it was very good. The place seemed like a lot of locals ate there. She was in tears when she left and tripped on a sidewalk, broke her leg and wound up in Vail hospital. The surprises began with the menu which offered a wide variety of options beyond pizza. That includes meat balls, stromboli, calzones, manicotti and parmigiana. The specialty plates include choice of soup or salad and garlic bread. I opted for minestrone which was flavorful and comforting. My wife's salad could have been shared, but she chose not to. We both had lasagna which was bursting with hot, gooey goodness that stayed hot to the last bite! Impressed enough to return in the evening to try their signature pizza and was wowed again. I was truly disappointed in the way I was treated by the bartender over my pizza that was not cooked properly. The dough was soggy 3/4 up the slice.He cooked it longer, but the problem was not fixed. Who wants crust like that? I was still charged for the pizza that I couldn't eat. When I asked why I was charged ( I had my credit card out to pay for it) I was yelled at and told to leave and never come back! He said...You only eat pizza, I make it for a living. Nice place with a local vibe. We had lasagna and spaghetti with Greek salad. The salad was the best I have had on an Italian restaurant. The servings for both the lasagna and spaghetti were generous with two pieces of garlic bread provided. This is also a full service bar but I only had beer. The prices were nice for the area and Jess our server was very friendly and appeared to appreciate our business. We have eaten here previously and the pizza is excellent as well. How can I describe the service here? Our server was a little bit arrogant, he seemed to be somewhat high strung and impatient when it came to answering a simple question regarding the pizza. Also, he grabbed the menu and hit my friends head with the menu by accident, he didn't even bother to apologize. Oh my goodness. This place is awful. Let us begin with the fact there was a squashed bug on the wall by our table. Then, when we finally got service we started with drinks and a salad to share. We got our salad. No drinks. We finished our salad. Still no drinks. We had to get our server's attention to ask for our drinks again. Next, when our server finally got around to us again we ordered our pizza. And we waited and waited and waited. Finally our server came back and said "they" (the pizza bakers) messed up our order and we could either have the pizza they made or wait for the one we ordered. We elected to wait . . . But then . . . our server asked us to confirm our order. We had to tell her again. She didn't write the order down and so she forgot it and blamed the other staff. She said her "boss" would make it right. We got the salad free. So we went back to waiting. Meanwhile 2 other tables and some people at the bar that came in after us got served. AND I assure you we overheard our server at ANOTHER table dealing with an incorrect order. That table appeared to accept the wrong order. Finally, we got our pizza. It was HORRIBLE! It was so salty if you ever lack electrolytes or wanna roll the dice on a kidney stone, you're covered. We should have double-checked reviews. We would have gone somewhere else.
