Great pizza place in Lionshead! Went in on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend - no wait in the bar area. Ordered "The Vintage" pizza, size 12" for two people-it was the perfect amount. In a rush to get on the mountain and start skiing, we wandered around Lionshead village looking for a breakfast place. Coming up short, we settled on that meal that's perfect anytime of day...pizza! Blue Moose was a great choice, as it was airy, delicious, and most importantly, quick! We got the BBQ chicken pizza which was simply the best version of this staple Ive ever had; much better the CPK's version which previously held the title. We also get a pesto/veggie pie, which was good but not as good at the BBQ. Casual place to stop for a quick bite to eat when you are in Vail. We visited this restaurant after a day on the slopes and it hit the spot just right. Pizza is served by the whole pie or by the slice too and they have lots of different kinds (I had the Lindsay Vonn kind and it was delicious). You know pizza is going to be good when you pick up a slice and it is nice and crispy and doesn't sog over in your hands forcing you to eat it with a fork/knife. Great Family Restaurant in the heart of the West Vail Village. We came here for a late night dinner when we were staying in Vail and the service was excellent and they had everything we needed for our growing family (high chairs, coloring books/crayons, kids menu, etc). The greek salad was delicious and their veggie pizza was cooked perfectly. It is a great place to unwind after a long day out. My husband and I stopped in for lunch this past Saturday and unfortunately did not get to even taste the food. The restaurant was very slow/not busy (although it was 12:00 noon on the dot). The hostess was unfriendly warning us if we sit on the patio and it rains, they won't be able to move us inside if they are packed (hardly anyone in the restaurant as mentioned). She sat us near the patio (but inside due to risk of rain), and my husband and I sat and waited for a long time for someone to welcome us and take drink orders at the very least. There were two other tables near us that each had a different server that stopped by, but never could make eye contact with us to tell us our server would be right over. We gave it a solid ten minutes sitting there and already knew what we wanted to order, but when no one ever came to serve our table, we decided that there are too many awesome places in Vail to eat lunch that being ignored was not worth our time or money. We ended up in Vail Village at another pizza place with amazing and friendly service and tasty pizza. The menu looks tasty at the Blue Moose and the location was good, so that's where the two stars come in. read more

I really wanted to try this place on vacation and I'm so glad we got to! I loved the unique menu and really appreciated that you can get slices of any kind of pizza they have. That allowed me to try more than one kind of pizza, instead of having to get a big pizza to share. I had the chicken caesar salad pizza slice- unique and so good! And I also had a slice (actually two- I ordered an extra one!) of the Hawaiian pizza too- I loved it. They will make the pizza more crispy if you ask, but I think they prefer not to. They have gluten free pizza crust too which made my friend super happy, though you can't get slices- you have to get the 9 inch size, which she was able to finish with no problem. My husband had the jerk chicken pizza which was his very favorite, and he also tried the autumn pizza slice which he thought was good but had too much goat cheese and too little sauce for his taste. Our friend loved the cowboy pizza! We really enjoyed our time and the service was very good. Fun music too! It was the most affordable meal we had our whole time in Vail. read more

Pizza was pretty good, service was pretty good, location was pretty good, but nothing really impressed me. Located at Lionshead in Vail, this place serves up pizzas ranging from personal to 18". You can customize the pizza or pick one of their specialties which is cheaper. I ordered the meat lovers and added jalapeno, the crust was OK, but not crispy at all, seemed that the pizza would fall apart when you picked it up. Flavors were good though, and believe me, we devoured it. NY pizza is way better. But hey, Im not expecting that here. I actually had better pizza in la Bottega in Vail village. The staff here is friendly and they encouraged a picture with the moose, which is awesome. This place is one of the more affordable places to eat at. the blue moose is in the lionshead village area and has a great selection of pizza and sandwiches. it's wayy more affordable than eating at the top of the mountain and tastes better too. very casual atmosphere and friendly staff. if you are planning on taking a break from snowboarding/skiing, i would def come here instead of eating at the cafeteria. had the chicken parm sandwich with fries for only $10! they have a big outdoor patio but it's way too cold to sit outside during the winter! it would be cute to sit outside if you had kids that wanted to ice skate though! the ice skating rink is right outside! read more

I took shelter in here from the rain the other day. My fiancé got a salad (typical) and I got a Stromboli calzone. It was amazing. The cheese was perfect and the other ingredients were great, but what really made it so good was the crust. It was awesome. Pretty sure this has been my favorite meal in Vail so far. We were staying at the Lionshead Village and this is a must for being in the area. Craving for pizza and wings, this is probably the place to be. We got their a bit early for dinner since we didn't have much for lunch. Surprising enough there was a happy hour special from 3-5pm, mostly each item was $4. So we ordered from happy hour menu which we got to try out their wings and pizzas (cheese, pepperoni, buffalo). The cheese and pepperoni pizzas were wonderful, crunchy crust even though not a thin crust pizza. On the other side the buffalo pizza was not crunchy but a bit soggy and VERY spicy. After two bites I think I was done, you couldn't taste anything else. The buffalo wings were quite good though, exactly I like them, tangy spicy and tender inside. We also had a beer sampler which consist of three varieties from Crazy Mountain, Fat Tire, and one I can't remember. Loved Fat Tire the best, the others were ok. Overall, it was a fun experience but nothing spectacular, but would like to come back to order a pizza of your choice. read more

After a day on the mountain hiking and then mountain biking the next day, Blue Moose just hit the spot. In the summer, vail is very low key and you can always expect to get right in at most places. The pizza here was delish. The first time there we got the cowboy pizza which is a BBQ Chicken pizza....soooooo yummy. There crust is the perfect amount of crunch and chewy. The next time were there we did half Chicken Ranch and Half Buffalo Wing Pizza. I really liked both of these too as they were so different from most traditional pizzas I have had.
