The food was good, but unfortunately the service from one bartender completely ruined the experience. He came across as extremely rude and seemed irritated that people were talking in a bar, which was confusing given the environment. What bothered me most was how he repeatedly interrupted conversations to ask questions without any consideration. Most servers will wait for a natural pause or simply say, "Sorry to interrupt." Instead, he would abruptly cut us off, walk away, then come back moments later to interrupt again. It didn't feel accidental--it felt intentional and dismissive. The overall interaction made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I actually left the bar in tears because of how poorly I was treated. It's unfortunate because the food was enjoyable, but the customer service completely overshadowed it. Personally, I won't be returning. read more

Have driven by Blue Ox Central so many times over the last 3 years and my husband and I finally decided to stop in last weekend. We started with Mozzarella Sticks with both blue cheese and a marinara dipping sauces. They were nice and hot and the breading wasn't thick. We'll be ordering those again. I tried the fish sandwich, which was the daily special for that day, and it came with fries. My husband tried the Rueben sandwich on Rye with their fresh chips. Everything was very good! I was at Blue Ox Central recently and witnessed a bartender treating a young woman extremely rudely for no apparent reason. She came in like any other customer, and the bartender's attitude toward her was completely uncalled for. It was uncomfortable to watch and created a negative atmosphere for everyone in the bar. People come here to relax, have a good time, and spend their hard-earned money. Customers should be treated with basic respect, regardless of the situation. Based on what I witnessed, the bartender's behavior was unprofessional and reflected poorly on the establishment. I hope management addresses this issue because customer service is just as important as the drinks being served. read more

The Blue Ox Central is a restaurant sports bar (Minnesota) with fantastic food. If you can catch it when it's less busy it's very quiet except for some conversations from other patrons at the bar or nearby tables. It's very pleasantly lit so not to blare the lights but you can see to read the menu. There's some televisions running to keep you informed of the sports but not in an obnoxious way. We've been in many times now because of the excellent menu including deep fried fish (walleye too!!), thinly sliced roast beef sandwiches, and steaks. You have to make sure to check out the daily specials as those are always something incredible. Soup choice varies from day to day but leaves you wanting the entire pot of soup it's that good. The service has always been impeccable as we've always had Heidi as our server. She has a great memory for your choice of beverage as we stick to nonalcoholic ones. Try to save some room for dessert as it's all house made from the brownies to the bread pudding. Nothing on the menu has ever disappointed. read more

Was there on Friday 4-3-26 for the Friday fish sandwich special. As always, it was fantastic! It was flavorful cooked perfectly and served promptly. Barbara is such a great server, she always takes great care of us. I am sorry I do not the name of the bar tender that night but, she is awesome and funny, she made sure my club soda was full and had plenty of lemons and limes! The gaming is fun too even if I am losing the bartender kept me smiling! The burgers are amazing too always cooked to order and very tasty!! The chicken finger at the blue Ox are a Las Vegas Staple, I use to come here over 29 years ago. I forgot how absolutely succulent they are. Made with real pieces of chicken breast and dipped in a light crispy batter to perfection. There's no filler no skinny cookie cutter, assembly line processed chicken stuff here. I had moderately low expectations when I came here and I was clearly wrong because the food here is simply outstanding. I ordered the Western Bacon Burger and it was delicious. The party was thick, cooked perfectly, and the BBQ sauce was amazing and hot, yes the BBQ is on the burger and served hot. The fries were cooked well but nothing special, just your basic fries. The Ranch dressing was out of this world. My wife and I both thought it tasted a little like "Cool Ranch Doritos" and it was delicious. Service was on point and very good. Great food! Best chicken fingers EVER. Our server, Jaime, was wonderful, very attentive without hovering. Meatloaf was delicious! Cheese Curds, not quite as good as in the Midwest, but fairly close. Bread Pudding was amazing. Just a few cons; very, very smokey inside. No separation from bar and restaurant. Also tables/chair need updating. Few tables, mainly high tops or narrow booths. If you're a disabled person - get take out! I was uncomfortable, so had to take off a star. Remodeling is a definite must. Comfort food is best enjoyed in a comfortable setting: this was not. Only because of the seating. Food and service is outstanding, if they ever remodel, we'd be there a lot more often. read more

I figured a MN themed restaurant would be just what the doctor ordered for a true Mud Duck. This place missed the mark. The decor is dark and it's obvious the establishment is geared towards bar gamblers. I came for the food, not the gambling. The waitress was quick to greet us (the place was empty) and was ready to take our order as quick as we were ready to give it. The cheese curds were the first thing out. I'm a cheese curd nut (Cheddar Head by birth), and these were good, but not great. Maybe we just got the bottom of the bag runt curds, but they were small. The flavor was unimpressive. The burger I got was a mess. I ordered it Medium rare and it came out well done. It was a preformed patty that was charred around the outside. There wasn't a sign of pink or moisture left in it. The patty melt that was ordered medium was half way to becoming jerky. It's too bad the food wasn't as good as the service. I won't be back. read more
