However, one of the movers assigned to my job was new, and I feel I unfortunately had to make up for that in the hours for which I paid. We have used Blue Ox Moving three times and have had a great experience each time.. The first time was 6 years ago. Recently, we moved items from Houston to a new home in the Texas Hill Country. The team lead, James, plus Emilio & Miguel, were extremely careful with our fragile items, skilled at moving safes & oversized heavy items into tight corners while protecting our new wooden floors, and followed directions for where furniture and boxes were to be located. They were always willing to relocate items when we changed our minds. read more

Hired them with their estimate which they exceeded by about 20%. Cost was over $5000. They showed up as scheduled. We had a short move, maybe 10 miles. Bad news is they broke a relatively new LG OLED TV (paid $2800 plus tax for it), knocked a hole in our dresser and cracked our sidewalk. Six guys and very limited English. We paid about $450 for insurance and they say they will pay $450 for the damage and send someone to repair the dresser (but he is off till next week). Due to the language issue we have lots of boxes in the wrong room, some upstairs that should be downstairs and some downstairs that should be upstairs. The language barrier also caused the move to take a lot longer than if we could communicate with them. Do yourself a favor and hire people who speak English. We also had new expensive carpet on the stairway and the boss came downstairs with his dolly bouncing it on the stair treads. I understand that issues happen when you move but the insurance is a rip off and the language barrier is a real expense issue unless you speak Spanish. Don't let Joe's claim of "Strong Christian Principals" fool you! Just scroll through the internet and read all the reviews before hiring this company and you will see for yourself. Blue Ox lost several items and damaged my 75" in flat screen TV. They did not follow basic protocols for moving/packing this type of device. The most important thing to do with a TV like this is make sure it NEVER lay flat or on it's side. They set it down in my living on it's side. I was told that they would take down all the mounted TV's, pack them and move them so my assumption is that they would follow the right protocol when doing this. I contacted Joe immediately regarding the damaged TV. He said a claim would be filed and the insurance company would contact me within 48 hours. THAT NEVER HAPPENED! I followed up 30+ days later and was contacted by someone else who said the claim was denied (see photo below). I then proceeded to contact the insurance company directly as they provided their contact name. I learned that NO CLAIM WAS EVERY FILED (see image below with this statement. BLUEOX sat on it for 1 month and then said the claim was denied based on the limited information they had. ACCORDING TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY A CLAIM WAS NEVER FILED. BlueOx's compromise was to offer me $22 for a $4500 item. All images and correspondence on this matter to support my review are listed below. Blue Ox Moving & Storage recently did a move for me from Magnolia, TX to Tomball, TX. I could not have asked for a better move experience. Joseph was the foreman on my job. He was polite, professional and very much on his game. He listened carefully to my requests and communicated clearly to me and to his crew. He didn't just supervise; he worked as hard as his crew worked. Erin, Evan and Michael were his crew men. They were polite, delightful young men. They were careful and skillful in preparing my furniture with moving blankets and shrink wrap. Everything was carefully loaded under Joseph's watchful eyes and direction then taken directly to our destination. These young men worked in 90+ degree Texas heat with a wonderful attitude all day. They showed great concern to follow my requests and put everything in place at my new residence to make it as easy for me as possible. I'm 76 years old and that meant a lot to me. All of this and they finished ahead of schedule. If I had to move again, I would definitely use Blue Ox and request that crew! read more

I thought the move was going pretty good until we got to my new home in another city. The first thing that happened was a glass pane in my antique china cabinet was knocked out by the mover while putting in a shelf. Then remotes to my bed and two TVs were lost. Then wheels were broke off my sewing desk. (A friend finally found some that fit and installed them yesterday 2 months after the move). The worst thing is that when the communications company came to install my TV service, they showed me where my 55" TV was dropped! It no longer worked. I contacted the company via email and asked for a claim form and listed the things that were lost or damaged in the email. I have yet to hear from them except to ask for a review. I've waited two months hoping they would do what is right and make good on their promises to treat my possessions like their own. I'd hate to see the condition of their stuff. read more

Well they took an extra day and added an extra $1,000 to what was quoted. That was after I moved an entire 2 rooms myself. They couldn't fit all my items and left them behind. They damaged several items. I did buy the full coverage insurance but they have not honored it despite me filing claim paperwork on time with pictures. They acknowledge they would, they just haven't. This has been the worst experience I have had with a moving company. My parents moved in Spring, TX and I was getting my piano from their house. Once the company put the piano in their storage they called me to set up a day to come drop it off at my house in Pearland. The day before they were suppose to come, I got a call saying that they didn't have enough time to drop it off and needed to reschedule. The next 2 times we scheduled they had the excuse that the truck "broke down." After rescheduling again for a Saturday morning at 7 am I waited around until 11:15 for them to show up with the piano. Once the piano arrived I noticed that only the top section was wrapped in clear plastic wrap. They didn't take care of it like they said they would. Therefore, because it wasn't probably wrapped all around the bottom of the piano I now have chunks of wood knocked out and scratches all over the piano. One of the legs also has a crack halfway down it. When the movers got to my house I told them exactly where I wanted the piano in the room. I noticed them leave my house without saying a word to me so I went in the room to check on it. The piano was left in the middle of the room and was missing the bench and music stand. I noticed they had already driven off so I called them to let them know that they weren't finished and I was missing pieces. They immediately turned around and brought the bench in with them and moved the piano to the spot I first asked. After calling and talking to them several times we scheduled a time for them to bring the missing music stand. I never received a phone call saying they couldn't make it or anything!! They didn't show up at all!! I called 4 days later to see what the problem was and they didn't have any excuses. I still haven't received my missing pieces and they haven't called to schedule a repair man to come look at the piano. I am very disappointed with this company and would recommend using any other company than this one!!! read more

Do NOT use this company for storage or moving! We stored furniture in their "climate controlled" storage. When movers came to load our furniture, they put the moving stickers on the leather vs. the wood legs. After receiving our furniture at our new destination, we noticed the leather peeled off when we removed the stickers leaving holes in the upholstery. Experienced movers would know to place stickers on wood, not leather. We purchased insurance for damages. We have sent in the required photos and paperwork but over 2 months later, have heard nothing from them nor received any sort of reimbursement. We call almost daily and are told they will call back but do not. We had other damage including a broken antique table. We are extremely frustrated with a total lack of response to replacing our valuables. read more

Referred by a friend, they were very professional up front at the point of contact including the representative who came to our home to give an estimate. After the move I noticed that my Yamaha sound bar had been dropped on its corner breaking the case and mangling the corner. Claim submitted end of April '19, office manager confirmed receipt 5/2/19. Heard nothing. I followed up today (4 months later) e-mailing them asking for an update. Received an e-mail reply w/ a formal letter dated today that my claim was denied. After spending approximately $3,000 on the move and temporary storage, they couldn't see clear to cover a damaged item which I had valued at $300. Summary, they'll do the job just don't file a claim for anything damaged - it will go unanswered and/or denied. Would not recommend. read more

I was given a quote that was higher than most companies but decided to go with Blue Ox because the person that came to my house to give me my estimate seemed to be honest and it appeared that the company was reliable and I felt like they would be careful with my belongings. Well.... move day came and the cost ending up being almost double then what I was quoted and considering we moved over 100 boxes ourselves I was shocked. Blue Ox ended up moving half of what I had them give me the estimate on. I paid the bill and immediately called the person I'd been dealing with. She was rude and short with me and said she would make it right and would call me back with a resolution That was 3/13/20 I'm still waiting ..... I would not recommend this company based on my experience. Do Use Blue Ox Moving Company Terrible customer service and will not take accountability for damaging my safe beyond repair. After 3.5 months of arguing back and forth I was told to take a hike. I rate them a ZERO. During the move my large 500 pound safe was dropped off the truck ramp landing on my concrete driveway onto the front of the safe. The handle of the safe was pushed in damaging the locking mechanism and making the safe impossible to open. The safe is $1700 to replace and $300 to cut open to remove the contents for a total of $2000. Blue Ox Moving offered me $500 compensation and told me to take it or leave it. With $500 I can cut open the the damaged safe and for $200 I can buy a small closet safe. This is totally unacceptable for my needs. This take it or leave it attitude for damage that is 100% the fault of the moving company is ridiculous. The safe never even made it into the truck before they dropped it to the concrete. I will never consider using Blue Ox Moving again and I suggest you do the same as they cannot stand by their work and replace my high end large safe. They basically told me to take a hike and they don't care that they totalled my safe. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. The marketing is catchy and the quote was a bit high. But I wanted a high end moving company. Unfortunately blue ox moving company fell short across the board. Moving out day the team was an hour late. The majority of the house was already packed and it still took them 6 hours to move the boxes and two bedroom sets. You've never seen movers move so slow. They failed to walk through the home with us before they left and we discovered that they had punched a huge hole in a bedroom wall. The team had attempted to patch it, but clearly the paint job was not adequate and we were never informed. This by the way according to the owner, is against policy as they should have called the 'on call' painter to complete the repair. Yeah, okay, this invisible painter has been meant to show up to my new house to paint all the damage and two months later have never seen him. Also very suspicious that they never took an inventory. Move in day, we had to call them the day before to be sure they were going to show up (as no one called us). I didn't think it was possible but we got a slower crew than before! We had donated the bedroom furniture so literally all that was required was moving in the boxes. 7 hours later and they are too busy taking breaks to finish!!! Because they have no inventory system, we were missing cables boxes, a treadmill, among other belongings. I was told by the 'foreman' that this would all be there the next day. The next day came and went and after lunch I called the office. I was told by the secretary that Renee told her to tell me that they would be coming by next week when they could get around to it. I immediately asked for and called the owner. Let's just say he was less than helpful and admitted to the fault in the first crew damaging my house but insisted that the fact that he was in possession of my belongings without a delivery date was acceptable. It wasn't until I reminded him of his customer service logos that specify their commitment to doing the right thing.... I still had to wait three days and to this day have never had anyone contact me to repair the damage done to both homes. I think this company has some serious operational issues and never again will I pay $7500 to move with these people. They are dishonest, disrespectful and slow. read more

Blue Ox Moving just moved a tenant in my building and they did not come prepared. They drove over one of the bushes in front of the building and then did not have any masonite to cover the floors to prevent scratches on my floor. I had to give them cardboard to cover my oak floors. They also didn't have moving straps to move the furniture in. The tenant was on the second floor and they had to hand carry the pieces up, dropping them down on the travertine steps. Many of them were scarred up from the move. If you are a landlord, insist your tenants do not use them; they will destroy your building. After I asked them to be careful, they tried, but without moving straps, they could hold the pieces for long. Also they used two wheel dollies to climb my stairs and now the travertine is black from the tire treads. So to make this complete, they had opened my front door which is antique Andean walnut by unhooking my recessed bolts and they shut the door without securing the recessed bolts. Making matters worse they shut the door and sheared off wood piece around the recessed bolt. It is now broken and will have to be repaired. And then the kicker: they don't have insurance - their guys don't carry proof of insurance with them and they said call the office (it is Sunday). This is a disaster; make sure your tenants don't use Blue Ox; if they come to your building to move someone out - don't allow them in your building! read more

On the move date, I received a call 15 minutes AFTER they were to meet me at the place I am moving from and they tell me they would be unable to move me. Chris's explanation: "these things happen". I called Woodlands movers and they were very professional, made some calls and were able to help me move 30 minutes after my call. Overall, an excellent experience, but I gave only 4 stars because I felt unprepared for the final cost. I did not receive a written estimate for this move and when the driver presented me the final paperwork which included # of boxes, trip charges, and overnight charges, I did not get a copy. I paid in full but was not left with an itemized receipt. Lastly, I was unaware of the trip charges which as I recall were about $100+ each time, nor did I realize the exact cost of the overnight charges that amounted to $275/night. These numbers are from memory since I don't have a copy of the final invoice. As to care in packing and handling, the crew was excellent. Everything arrived in near perfect condition. I would use Blue Ix again and would be more assertive in my expectations. read more

We have moved many times over the past (32) years and have always been reluctant to use a moving company due to the many horror stories out there. We researched several moving companies and decided to have Blue Ox Moving quote our move. Joe came to our house, thoroughly reviewed our 'stuff' and gave us a fair quote. He was extremely helpful in explaining exactly how they handle our very expensive and fragile things we had acquired over many years and made sure we had everything we needed as far as moving supplies. He actually had high quality supplies at a much better price than I could buy them at any store, including Amazon. The moving crew headed up by Francisco, showed up on time and went right to work. They were extremely meticulous in making sure everything was well protected and handled our things as if it were their own. The (4) gentlemen that moved us were very polite, professional and willing to go the extra mile in making sure we were confident in their ability to move us without incident and were just overall very pleasant, which is a breath of fresh air during a stressful time. We were moving from a large house with lots of things so it took (2) large trucks to store everything. Our closing was the following day so Joe and his team securely stored our things in their secure facility until they were able to deliver to our new home the next day. The movers showed up on time the next day, moved our things into the house, unwrapped and placed our items in the appointed place and, if we changed our mind on the location, they moved it wherever you asked without any problems at all. They put beds together, cabinets together and were willing to do anything that we needed help with. They diligently cleaned up all the packing materials and hauled it off as part of their process. As I stated before, we have a lot of fragile and expensive things; absolutely NOTHING was damaged! Additionally, the movers completed our job in under the quoted hours and we were given a significant reduction in our moving bill, as well as, buying back unused moving supplies to boot! I can't say enough good things about Blue Ox except that I will be using them exclusively in the future (hopefully not moving anytime soon, though) and I would highly recommend Blue Ox to anyone who needs a competent, professional and extremely customer driven company to make the move as stress-free and pleasant as possible. Worst moving company I've ever used. Items were stolen, items were not wrapped or protected. Mattresses were not wrapped and were thrown on the truck without any protection. Furniture wasa damaged and some were destroyed by shear incompetence. Owner did pay for some of the stolen items, but when asked to compensate for the mattresses that were not protected he choose to ignore any offers to compromise. These people will open boxes and go through your stuff if it goes to storage. I have proof! I sent the owner pictures and even had his employee call him on the day of delivery. I set my move up one month in advance and called days prior to make sure. I was told Blue Ox movers would be here between 8-9. At 9:30 I called and was told between 10-11. At 11 I was told noon. Movers got here at 12:15. Lots of excuses. For the first hour they talked on a cell phone while they moved. Do YOU want to wonder if the movers are going to show?
