I cannot reccomend this moving company enough. We just used ironback movers for a full service move from Houston to San Fransisco. I interviewed about 6 moving companies and right away from talking with Abner I felt comfortable. Other moving companies were very persistent, trying to sell me, and seemed dishonest. Abner was very responsive and straight forward but did not contact me again after initial quote until I decided to go with him. He garunteed pick up date and arrival date (and time and was 10 minutes early each time!) which was huge for us as our move had to be very scheduled and other companies quoted us a 2 week interval (or more!) of when our items would be delivered. His crew in Houston arrived and packed our entire apartment, included disassembling basic items. They were extremely professional and efficient. Every item even valuable and breakable items arrived in perfect condition. He met us in San Fransisco 5 days later and him and two others unloaded all our boxes and assembled any dissassembled items. Again very professional and efficient. Iron back movers turned what could have been a very stressful move into 0 stress. Abner was extremely hardworking, professional, and easy to work with as was every member of his team. We hope we can use him for any future moves even though we are no longer in Houston! read more

4.5 stars. A friend who moved out of a 4 story town home recommended iron-back movers so we decided to use them since we were moving out of a 3 story town home. They were very responsive when we inquired (via text) and I liked that they charged per hour based on the number of movers you requested. We scheduled the moving date, signed a contract, and were ready to go! On moving day, the movers arrived promptly and they were so quick in moving everything! within two hours everything had been moved out of our townhome! It took them another hour and a half to move everything to the new place. Very impressed! They also wrapped certain pieces of furniture for us and disassembled as well as assembled others. Cost was reasonable as well. I would say they are more cost efficient compared to other movers we had inquired. Well, it's 8 years later and my opinion hasn't changed. Iron back movers are still great. We had Miguel and his crew. It was a very long day and a very stuffed truck, those guys rocked and rolled, and even towards the end the general camraderie and upbeatness was nice to see. Since I made my original review, we had them move us again, and they moved my parents, my best friend, and have done some small moving for my IL in their home. No one has had any issue, they show up when they say they're going to, communicate well, can handle small to big jobs, and they work hard and do a great job. I didn't really bother with anyone else in terms of quotes, but based on what we were charged a number of years ago, pricing remains reasonable. Thank you guys! read more

True to the reviews, I had an amazing experience with Iron Back Movers. I had to move a two bedroom apartment into a single family home this past Sunday. Three movers came and worked incredibly efficiently. I was worried about how long the move would take but these guys just worked so fast. They were very polite as well. At the end, I was just so grateful to each of them. Their rate was much more reasonable than quotes I got from some of the bigger moving companies who had a lot more flashy advertising but charged exorbitant prices. I also appreciated that Iron Back's entire process seemed very professional and modern, from the communication, to the signing of the agreement. Abner was very clear and responsive over text. I tried using the Yelp bidding and availability feature for our move from Greenway to Woodlands. But I found it better to just do a search instead as the responses seemed all automated and not customized. We moved on a Saturday morning and the move time was 2:47 minutes including drive time. Rounded up to the nearest quarter hour (ah so close to 2:45) clocked us in at 3 hours even for a 2 bedroom apartment. The 3 man movers were fast and friendly. Ben and crew - FF3. FYI We had everything ready for them so I think that always helps. Destination was on 2nd floor but the truck was able to pull right in front of the stairwell so it was a straight shot up 1 flight of stairs. 1 roll of shrink wrap is included but we only used like a fraction of that. There's a $10 surcharge for weekend help on a 3 man crew which comes with 26 foot truck. Plus a flat $100 truck/fuel charge for the drive. Drive is supposedly based on GPS direct drive time ignoring traffic conditions so you're not penalized for accidents and traffic but for us I think because there were none on a Saturday morning so it was just straight time which worked well as they arrived to the destination not long after I did. As for the initial meet they came right in the middle of the 2 hour window that I was slotted for, and called me when they were headed over which was nice so I wasn't just waiting around. Abner is an owner operator and was responsive. Main reason why I picked him. It was a young crew. One looked like a teenager maybe. Very polite. Observant and considerate. They looked on the smaller side but I think that was good because they could lift and move quickly. Also they are the only ones I saw who takes credit card without surcharge. You can tip on the card but I did cash as I think these guys prefer that. The last movers I hired the first thing out of their mouth when they arrived was "I heard Mr W. is a big tipper". Real turn off. But these guys were anything but that. Very humble and soft spoken. Highly recommend them if you're in need of some help. Hard workers goes without saying. But the best part was they were both good and fast. This was a big house move. The guys worked hard and efficient for 8 hours before taking any break and they only asked for 20 minutes! Then 3 more hours work until done. They took great care of all our things. Took apart our furniture carefully and re-assembled it perfectly. Asked a million questions and each question was needed to place things where they needed to go. The were very cooperative and competent. I should mention that the company owner suggested a low-cost box store for our boxes a week before the move, and then offered to to to that store with his truck to pick up the boxes and bring them to us! These guys are THE BEST. Price was fair, lower than any other mover who had good reviews. Highest recommendation A++++ they are an asset to the Houston metro. read more

Abner the owner was flexible on our scheduling when it came to a change we had to make concerning the weather. I thought it was a good value too! Abner was even available on the load up side and they went above and beyond. They wrapped up some things that needed the extra protection. Even used one of their own large boxes for some odds and ends that couldn't be boxed up. Hopefully all is well when we go to move out of storage as they packed it in there using space as they could so it would all fit. OH and be sure to tip your movers too! First I must tell you that I really don't trust and like movers and their general attitudes. We have lived in over 15 different locations States side (we lost count) not mentioning 5 overseas countries with permanent residences in over a 40 year period of time. I say all of this to say we have more experience moving than most anyone else. We did our due diligence in calling many movers starting with the YELP family of listings. We decided on Iron-Back Movers and we have absolutely no regrets! We hired the 3 man package to move a full 2 bedroom apartment. This was scheduled for 8/5 during the area's heat wave from HELL!! The crew was led by Manuel who was a professional who made sure all of our concerns were answered and adhered to. This crew worked non stop not only in moving us but also in unloading us in our new location. Finally the heat was getting to them so we gave them plenty of cold water which they showed their appreciation for them. Quite honestly I was a bit nervous at first since all the contracting was done via text and email. No one to speak to until the move date. The crew came on time and was finished in 5 hours time. This company and the crew led by Manuel were the very best that I have ever dealt with and cannot recommend them any higher than they truly were the best. Why did it take me a couple of weeks to write this? To see if anything was broken in the move and the answer is: nothing, not one thing broken. Moving is stressful, but thanks to Yelp (FTW as always), I found Iron-Back Movers. I requested a quote through Yelp and the owner, Abner replied immediately. Throughout the entire process, Abner was awesome! He always replied in a timely manner, no matter what time of day or night I messaged him. Booking was a breeze and Abner even agreed to price match a competitor's quote. Much appreciated! I had the option of a two or three person crew. I went with three just to speed up the process. On the morning of the move, the foreman Brian called to let me know that he and the team were on their way. They showed up early in the 2 hour time window and got right to work! Brian and the team were so nice and worked FAST! Brian did a great job of communicating as far as what items I wanted moved, where I wanted furniture placed, and pieces of furniture that had scuffs and marks on it already. I moved from a third floor unit in the middle of June and they handled it like pros. The entire job took 3 hours. Brian called Abner when the job was done and he emailed me an invoice with a link to pay online. It was super simple and straight forward. There was an option to add tip online, but I tipped in cash. An hour or so after the team left, Abner texted me to check in and make sure everything went smoothly. Customer service at it's finest! I was so worried about hiring the right moving company, but there was no need to worry. Iron-Back Movers were amazing and I would definitely hire them again in the future. Used this company for a last minute move since other companies were all booked up. 4 guys showed up on time and for the most part were very professional and worked hard on a hot summer day. I encouraged them to take breaks and told them to get lunch on the clock. once we arrived to my new location, a fairly new 85 inch TV that was packed and loaded into a box supplied by them was removed and part of the plastic casing snapped off. The piece was a couple inches long in the bottom left corner. There were some apologies and awkward silence, and then I asked "so what do we do about it? what is your policy?" assuming they would have a policy in place to reimburse for the damage and that would be the end of it. They all told me that they would not be paid for the job or that any repairs / compensation would be taken from their pay. I obviously felt extremely guilty about this. They then asked if they could run to the store to super glue the piece back, and I said fine because I wanted the guys to get paid, but only as long as everything works fine. They superglued the piece back, turned on the TV, and it seemed to be functioning ok so I was content at the moment. Less than 4 weeks later (after not using my TV much), I notice a vertical line has appeared directly above the damaged piece spanning the entire height of the TV. I contacted the owner and expressed my displeasure with the situation since I felt I was guilted and pressured into a quick fix on my 2 thousand dollar TV. Ultimately, I understand he had no obligation to make it right as I should have reported it to him that day. My problem is with their apparent policy that the movers are in such fear of reporting damaged property because they will lose their wage, that they have to guilt and beg the customers on the spot to accept a shoddy solution. I take responsibility, my kindness got the better of me that day. Please use this review as caution if you decide to proceed with them, take photos and report any and all damage no matter if the crew begs saying they wont get paid. update: clearly dishonest company! the entire crew took a lunch break between driving from my old house to new house. A crew of 5 guys unloaded my storage unit and packed up a trailer in just 3 hours (3-bedroom home's worth of stuff), and 3 guys unloaded the trailer and brought it into my new place also in just 3 hours. They showed up exactly when they said they would at both loading and unloading. I left Houston on Tuesday and was moving in two days later on Thursday at 7 am in Minnesota! I had a great experience with Iron-Back movers. I moved from Houston to New Orleans. The movers showed up in the promised time-frame window. They were very careful with all the items, wrapped everything that needed it with blankets and plastic wrap, and worked quickly to load up the truck. They arrived promptly to the new location. The unload went very smooth as well. None of my items were damaged. I was nervous about moving my glass display case, and it arrived in perfect condition. They put all the furniture in the appropriate rooms and rebuilt any items that needed it. I was so impressed and happy that it could all be done in one day. I was sleeping in my bed that night!! I got a 5 hour delivery window, but when the first hour came I already got a call from them saying they're on their way, which is very good. These guys were tanks. Super strong and fast. We live on the second floor and moved to a second floor. Nothing seemed to slow them down. My only negative comments are that they didn't really pay attention to boxes that said "up" or "fragile," meaning they just piled boxes on top of the other regardless of what we wrote on the boxes (see picture). Luckily, there was no damage. Something that bothered my husband was that they sweated profusely over our furniture. I mentioned that it was summer in Houston, so what did he think they could do about that. He said they should wear a few shirts and/or have clean rags to put on their shoulders, etc. I think he was so picky because it is Covid-19 time. BTW, the guys did wear masks, but we said they could take them off because it was hard enough to go up and down the stairs as it is. All in all, the price was great and the work was done very quickly. read more

Moving is miserable - I've done it like 10 times over the past decade. The last few times with my boyfriend I have not liked him very much during the process lol - he gets stressed out and I almost wanna tell the movers to pack and keep him but this time was much different from any moving experience I have had. Hands down this was the best experience I have ever had with movers. They were prompt, quick, friendly, helpful and patient (we were a little chaotic at the new place because we have 3 dogs we had to transport and secure while they unloaded). We had a great experience with this company. It was our first time hiring movers and WELL worth the money! These guys definitely worked their bottoms off to make this transition as easy as possible. I was told by others when asked how long it took them to move us that, it seemed like a long time for the size of our home/items we had, but I would say that is partly our fault. Not truly knowing what to expect we probably could've had the couch pillows bagged up or wrapped or something and been a little more prepared for them to be in & out in a quicker fashion. I paid $900 for a move thinking they are 5 stars on Yelp and google. But I was wrong. This was 5.5 hrs move in Houston. 1. These guys look unprofessional. This is not my first move so I know what professional movers are. They didn't come in masks, no starting paperwork, didn't tell time of start etc. They were just there to dump stuff in the truck. 2. They didn't bring anything to count boxes. I literally had to number boxes myself. My last movers were very professional as they brought stickers with numbers etc. 3. They dismantled my furniture but couldn't make that back again. - On the bed they put slats on opposite side so nothing would fit. Later he somehow put it together with nails on my request but it broke soon enough. - On the baby crib he put all screws wrong- I literally had to dismantle almost everything back to put it back. These are the only items he had dismantled and managed to put both both wrong. - Also they broke one of the bookshelf. 4. Of course they worked hard but I don't think it was worth $135/hr. 5. I wouldn't recommend them for a big move like us. Consider your stuff broken etc if you decide to go with them. I feel they should reimburse me for broken items but I don't have time or energy. Just wanted to alarm other yelp users who might be getting carried away with their 5 star ratings. Oh btw they might tell you that you had low quality stuff so they are not able to put it back together. read more
