4.7 stars for a great fish place with plenty of options. We came with a reservation and was seated promptly. They do have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The service was friendly. 1. Octopus - Flavorful and tender. Highly recommended! 2. Avocado crab dip - I would share this with others as you can fill up on it. They provide plenty of crab! 3. Alaskan Cod - Tender and buttery flavors. Delicious and well executed. 4. Bread Pudding - A bit heavy and dry. I would pass on this next time. 5. Pumpkin Cheesecake - Saved the desserts. Loved the 2nd floor rooftop seating with heat lamps! Offered a nice view of the street below, and the heat lamps kept us warm! Service was good. The meal was good, but not really standout. This is our favorite restaurant In Princeton - we've been here many times over the years. Excellent food every time - we live the crab/avocado dip, dumplings and all the fish specialties especially. Truly everything is great. The service is always excellent, and this is a BYO!! Highly recommend. There is a newer Blue Point in Newtown PA, close to where we live. We were excited to try it, but it wasn't nearly as good as the Princeton location. We happily drive twice as far to the Princeton location as we know it will be outstanding every time we go there, but will not go back to the Newtown location. (Management: feel free to contact me for details. I want to love Newtown, but cannot. Princeton is easily 5 stars, Newtown is 1-2 stars.) read more

Seafood was extremely fresh and light, enjoyed having many options to choose from. It is BYOB however if you forget there is a liquor store 1 min down the street. I highly suggest getting the clams oregenata as an appetizer. Every single dessert was delectable. Would come back again! read more

This was my first time dining at the restaurant, though I had ordered takeout twice before. Despite those experiences being disappointing and overpriced, I decided to give it one last try based on the positive reviews. The good news? The service was fantastic. The bad news? The food was just as bad as before. The exorbitantly priced branzino--much like the lobster I previously ordered--was poorly cooked, this time overcooked and completely bland. The mussels with mustard cream sauce also tasted off. My son's Icelandic cod fish and chips didn't taste right to him, so I tried a piece. While it didn't seem rancid, we both ended up with upset stomachs, and I later had diarrhea. To top it off, the noise level was overwhelming--even my father, who is hard of hearing, commented on it. Suffice it to say, I won't be giving this place another chance, and I certainly can't recommend it. A complete rip-off, in my opinion. read more

This place was very lively for a Tuesday night! We came here as a large group for a company dinner and the service was great for a very large group. Definitely will need a reservation as I didn't see an open table for more than 5 minutes. The ambiance inside was very cool, small space, volume is loud. It is a BYOB, but there are liquor stores close by. I had fish, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. Individually everything was great! But I wouldn't suggest those pairings together. Should've went with the garlic mashed. They also gave plenty of bread and crackers while we waited. Overall, great time! Will be back to try the crab cakes! read more

When we entered the restaurant, Jess greeted us and while we didn't have a reservation ( which is definitely recommended) she offered us a table on their enclosed patio. Sarah, our waitress was wonderfully helpful and with her guidance ordered Manhattan clam chowder ( spicy and filled with delicious vegetables) , a tuna and poke & fried calamari as appetizers and two excellent entrees. Ate here the other weekend, we made a reservation online and our table was ready when we arrived. It is BYOB. Our waitress was very nice and informative about menu items. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the fried calamari was perfect. Only minor complaint would be seating. Our table was tucked in a corner next to the front door so there was a lot of foot traffic. My parents could not back their chairs out because then they would be blocking the way for people to get by. read more

Terrific meal the other night and the place was hopping. They get most, if not all their seafood (and the menu changes often depending upon availability) from the shop right next door. Our server was Nikki, and she was a real treat! We started with Calamari and Grilled Octopus appetizers - excellent! Entrees - two orders of Sauteed Barramundi, Florida Mahi Mahi and the best Barnegat Swordfish I have eaten (Nikki told us it weighed 140 pounds and came in the day we were there for dinner). Hype? Maybe - but quite effective. It was excellent. Desserts were Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding that we shared. BYOB, and that is always a treat! We split the grilled shrimp with mashed potatoes and it was delicious! Didn't think much of the crab guacamole as the guac itself wasn't that good. Service: very attentive, explained the menu and gave us some time to decide. We were on a schedule and they brought the check with our bill which I appreciated Insider tips: like a number of places in Princeton it's BYOB. They don't serve their own drinks so come prepared! We greatly enjoyed a mid-December dinner at Blue Point Grill prior to a performance at McCarter Theater. Despite the chilly evening, our table in the enclosed sidewalk space was plenty warm and comfortable. Having left ourselves just an hour for the meal from start to end, our excellent server Sarah W. brought out the dishes and opened our BYO wine quickly such that we didn't feel rushed at all. The selection of East Coast raw oysters was fantastic, ditto for a delicious roasted calamari app and shrimp & crawfish etouffe entree; the tuna poke was just okay. Prices were reasonable. Everything I ordered I would order again. What I ordered: New England Clam Chowder - Pretty hard to mess up, but still was better than most I've had. Grilled octopus - best octopus I've had Clam and garlic pasta - was so freaking good. They are not skimping on the clam meat and when I was finished with the pasta I was scooping spoonfuls of it onto my bread. First of all - interesting hours. Their website says they close at 830pm but if they're busy and there's a good flow of customers they'll stay open. That's true they did stay open for us since my party was late. It's also byob. I had the crab and corn salad - awesome and the crab cake. Yes idk why I doubled up on crab that was a weird move but glad I did because they were loaded with crab and not much filler. They also has a nice selection of oysters on the half shell. I definitely recommend it for a nice night out in Princeton. read more

If you're looking for simplicity this is the place. The menu is mostly fish and it's simply grilled. The majority of the fish is wild caught and there is a good amount of options. You can't go wrong with what ever type you choose. Great food and great service read more

My husband and I celebrated my birthday at Blue Point grill in July 2023. The seafood appetizers and main entrees were wonderful and very high quality. Service was exceptional. That said, because of dietary restrictions, we opted out of potatoes and rice and asked for a salad instead. The "salad" for each of us was barely a small fistful of greens. Yet, the portions of potatoes/rice served to our dinning neighbors, were huge. We could have at least been given a comparable amount of salad greens to go with the $48.00 per person fish entries. We did not complain during our dinner as we did not want to spoil our celebration. But, the restaurant needs to know that this trade of entree accompanying side was unacceptable. This place is TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!! Most of the fish is wild caught, almost all the shellfish is fresh and delicious! I mean those oysters, we were blown away and had to have seconds. We loved the East point, summer love and French Kiss oysters. We sat outside but they allowed us to keep the heaters on which was great. Our waitress was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Only gripe was it's BYOB but here is a liquor store two doors down and so that was easily fixable. The atmosphere of this restaurant gives you a coastal life in the Hamptons vibe. Little fancy, little chic. I loved the food, which was well seasoned, well prepared and everything was fresh. Real ingredients are definitely used here. Don't forget to bring a nice bottle of your favorite wine, its BYOB. Went on Tuesday dinner for rare and coveted dinner date for parents of two. Things are lot more palatable when not dealing with flying food into mouths of critters. So know that my review may be falsely inflated.. but I do hail from no other than Manhattan with some food snobbery. So food is great! We had two lobster tails, grilled octopus, and she crab soup Lobster is fairly well cooked with well crafted tail shell as the base of the actual edible part and butter along with it (now seasoning was good for me but I eat less salt than most so maybe saltier butter melt could have been nice) Grilled octopus was small in portion (appetizer) but made up with how plum each piece was and beautifully acidic seasoning She crab soup came out as mildly spicy version with hearty addition of potatoes and other veggies Restaurant itself is open kitchen style which I really do appreciate these days as it tells me that the restaurant isn't afraid of its process to prepare its dishes. read more

TLDR: Beautifully seasoned fresh seafood, warm service, and a cozy spot - best purist seafood restaurant in the area. I would go again to try anything on the menu. I ordered the Grilled Octopus, Grilled Portuguese Sardines, and Shrimp Scampi Pasta. The octopus had a crisp char and perfectly firm bite. Seasoned with a balance of garlic and lemon, the appetizer was addicting. Like the octopus, the grilled Portuguese sardines had a great char, bringing great depth to the simple dish. The simple seasoning did a great job showcasing the flavor of the fresh fish. The Shrimp Scampi was a showcase of smooth, luxurious sauce and plump, sweet shrimp. The combination of the two was a delight to eat. Get some bread to sop up that sauce! The waiters were especially friendly and professional. We enjoyed our past 2 dinners here very much! The environment is welcoming, they have outdoor and roof top seating during the summer and it's really nice. Each time our service was really good and pleasant. We started with some appetizers. The oysters were fresh and chilled great. They have some really good selections. The jalapeño and lime grilled shrimp is so full of great flavor and big shrimp! The tuna and Avocado was fresh and simple & delicious. For our entrees we got the Bronzino and crab cakes, both were great! The Bronzino came filleted & it was simply grilled and seasoned and was perfect. The crab cakes were juicy and full of flavor. We then got dessert, we got the peanut butter pie which was PERFECT. We really enjoyed our time here and will be back to try more. read more

Friday, I got hungry, I didn't want pizza, not my style, for a Friday so I ordered online. $34.34 for one full order of clams, half shell clams with clam sauce, white, garlic with linguini cooked perfectly, with chopped clams in it. Thought of having new England clam chowder as well, but that would of been too much for me, maybe next time. I wanted it at 4:45, received it at 4:40, that's service not making we wait, in and out and home, sweet home, tasted better than what I could have made, I don't like cooking just for myself, it's boring. Made a reservation through their website which was very easy and got seated right away when we arrived. Ordered clam chowder which was very good and probably my favorite dish we got. The bread was also very soft and tasted great with the soup. The clams casino was okay. Half the shelves didn't have clams on them and were covered with toppings which were a little too pickled/tangy for my taste. The whole bone in black bass was a special and was good and tasted fresh but didn't have that much flavor. The crab cakes were okay but the fries it came with were soggy and seemed like they didn't have any salt on them. read more

I'll be honest - after so many great reviews I expected absolutely amazing culinary experience. But it didn't happen. Don't get me wrong. Food was good. No complaints at all. But nothing (except Tuna and Avocado Poke) was outstanding. Oh, no. Service was also outstanding. Our server Anya M. was very professional, very attentive and extremely nice. That's basically why I rate this restaurant 5 stars instead of 4. So we walked in on a Friday night. They were very busy but we were still able to get in after about 40 minutes. We had a lovely server who had the best energy and calming vibes. I want to be her friend haha. But let's talk about the food. It took quite awhile to get our food after ordering, but like I mentioned, it was busy. The hubs had the house special salad, which was kale, apple, gouda and salmon. It was fine. Not mind blowing but no complaints. I, on the other hand, had the whole, grilled branzini and oh my gawwwd. It was PERFECT. So sweet, meaty and delicious. I annihilated it! My side was garlic smashed potatoes, which were also tasty. We shared a side of brussel sprouts, which were...meh. For dessert we had the key lime pie...amazing...and our server brought us a scoop of strawberry ice cream just because. Also delish. All in all, it was a great experience and worth the wait.
