A view of Seneca Lodge from the South Entrance of Watkins Glen State Park.

Quick Thoughts: If you're staying the night and have plans to walk the Glen, this is a GREAT option. Buckle up, this might be a long one. We are road tripping our way to northern NY and figured we'd stop at Watkins Glenn as a stop on our way to Rochester. Last minute we decided to stay for an overnight. Hotel/Motel: When we were driving I was doing my best to scout the area for somewhere to stay. Lately I've been using a particular chain, but didn't see any in the area, but lots of motels. We got into town (which is super cute by the way) and it seemed pretty clear that motels were the THING, and they all seemed fairly cute. We stopped to eat at the marina and decided to pick a motel near the main entrance to the park so we could walk there and not pay to park. We ended up turning up the west side of the lake and came to the south entrance and boom, a lodge was across the street. Decided to pull in and ask about availability. We opted for a two queen motel, but there were cabins (single queen) and king options too. The front desk attendant was amazingly friendly, and even offered to let us check out a room before booking to make sure we were ok with it. Beds- comfortable and clean so far! Bathroom- fairly spacious, plenty of clean towels, bars of soap (no shampoo/conditioner), and a closet shelf and hanging bar. Amenities- plenty of parking, no ice machine (a bit of a bummer since we're traveling with a cooler, although they advertise 10lb bag of ice for $3 at the desk), a little outdoor sitting area. Ok here's the best parts. All on "campus" is a full restaurant, tavern, and brewery. AND, we just have to walk across the street for free entry into the park with a playground and pool!! What an amazing family friendly find this is! Restaurant/Brewery: I believe you can tell a little about an establishment by their kids menu. If it's just chicken fingers and Mac and cheese, it's just ok for me. So imagine my delight when the first option was a London Broil!!! It came in thin easy to eat slices, a side of rice pilaf, and a trip to the salad bar. My husband had a chicken dinner, which were two marinated chicken breast and rice pilaf. I had broiled shrimp with rice pilaf. Everything was so good. Service was quick (always good with kids) and we loved the salad bar. It was small, but had so many fresh items, and it allowed us to get food right away (also good for kids). My husband and I really enjoyed our beers, and I kind of want to go back tomorrow afternoon to sip one on their amazing deck. Ok, the length is getting absurd now, but I highly recommend this place, and can't wait to share it with family, friends, and you brave souls to read this novel.

Well, it's a lodge - like a motel type room that we stayed in. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. The best part was the restaurant on site and the fact that it is a two minute walk to the south entrance of Watkins Glen.

This review is based on the brewery and customer service. I have not tried the food or lodging yet. The restaurant was closed they open for breakfast and dinner, but in between you are able to buy beer And sit out on the deck or inside. The deck wraps around so you can choose sun or shade. Picnic tables or Adirondack chairs there is a lot of seating. The woman behind the desk was super friendly and turned the lights in for me so I could get a good look at the bar area. Super cool decor, clean, nicely laid out , inviting, and fun! I tried the peach beer because it was a super hot day and I had just hiked Watkins Glen. The beer was tasty. They have other choices from ipa to amber. I really like this place and am happy to support my local NY brewery. Cheers

Invited by friends to dinner here. Rustic ambiance and friendly service. Reasonable prices and good food. Record low price for makers mark on the rocks at $6.25! Large portions. Salad bar comes with entrees and was fresh with homemade dressings. Scallops were very good. Fried chicken was a half chicken with green beans. Chicken was overly salty and the dark pieces were overcooked and dry. The breast was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender. Great lively bar area.

Who wants to cook when camping? We always see many people and yet we had never eaten here until this year! Inside was a huge lodge great room that was plenty bright. The bar had many different themes and interesting detail. They give you $2 bills as change, that was different. The restaurant food was very good! Salad bar with everything. The helper doing the salad bar did a great job keeping it stocked! Our waitress was efficient and pleasant. Would definitely go again.

Stopped by to see what the locals do, and to get a steak since there are some good Yelp reviews talkin bout steak. Hubby was not disappointed and loved his medium rare steak. I loved Christy's cosmos and my burger. We sat in the bar area, watched the Yankees lose, talked to the locals and had a good night. Mary's service was right on but we didn't have room for the yogurt pie- next time I guess. Sorry no pics of the food but got this bear in the rafters...

I am really glad they did. We stayed in a two bedroom unit with my parents. There was plenty of room for all of us. There were plenty of blankets and towels, and the full-sized kitchen gave the place a nice home-like feel. There were even chilled glasses in the freezer for our drinks! The view from the patio is amazing. We enjoyed some time just sitting outside watching boats sail around the lake. For the July 4th fireworks, we sat on the deck (which is exclusive for guests) right on the water. We could not have asked for a better view. As much as we liked the atmosphere of the room, we liked the owners even better. We interacted mostly with Olga, who was so sweet and accommodating. Anything we needed was provided. She treated us to a fresh watermelon, and even allowed my wife (who is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan) to take a Bills glass that was in the freezer home. I cannot say enough good things about Admiral Peabody's. It is definitely a place at which I would stay over and over again.

We needed to find last-minute accommodations that would allow our dog and also didn't cost $500 a night after our van broke down unexpectedly. Admiral Peabody's was an affordable, clean and dog friendly hotel in Watkins Glen that we totally lucked into because it didn't even come up on our searches! This place totally exceeded our expectations. Admiral Peabody's doesn't feel like a hotel. It feels like your own lakeside cottage. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. We were able to sneak a look at the one bedroom bungalow cottages which were also adorable! Our suite was roomy, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was also really nice sitting on the deck right outside of our room. PLUS, Admiral Peabody's has a private dock right on the lake with tables, chairs and a blue tooth music system. I'm not sure how old this yelp listing is but the owner now is Luke. HE IS THE BEST. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Watkins Glen, don't pass up this hidden gem.

The owner does a very good job of keeping it up. When I went to check in, nobody was at the office, but there was a phone number listed. I called, and unfortunately, the man that ran, the place was taking care of some personal business. All of the rooms are on a combination door lock so he gave me the combination, and told me we would just take care of the paperwork in the morning. I went over to check in in the morning, and my first night was so good, I decided to stay for another three nights. My first night was booked through hotels.com, but the owner told me that I could book with him directly for the remaining three nights, and he would give me a discount. It saved me some dollars. I appreciate it. He was friendly, and helpful. Again, nothing fancy on the room. The room and the bathroom were spotless The TV got a good picture with cable, there was a coffee pot, a fridge, and a microwave, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower had plenty of room, and I'm a big guy. The only thing is, there is no shower mat, so you have to be careful. There were plenty of towels.. The Wi-Fi worked great, with enough speed to easily stream video one evening the Wi-Fi did go down, I contacted the gentleman, and he said he would take care of it. He actually came over to my room, to let me know had been fixed, when he could've just called or texted me. That was excellent service. The price was very reasonable, compared to some of the other places in town. Again, you're not getting anything fancy, you are getting a very simple comfortable place. Watkins Glen is right in the middle of the finger Lakes region. There are plenty things to do, lots of good shopping, and great restaurants. This is the perfect place to launch A visit to the finger lakes. I'm a fan. I would easily stay here again. Thanks.

Bed was comfy, towels are large. No cleaning of room unless you request it. Breakfast (7-10 AM) is minimal with prewrapped mini-coffee cakes & muffins & rather weak coffee (we supplemented with our own breakfast). A couple of negatives: the driveway to the rooms & cottages is scarily steep, there is only just enough parking, there are approximately 70 steps down to the Tiki Bar & the marina from the rooms (more from the cottages), doors to the porch keep out outdoor sounds but the walls between rooms are really thin (we had to ask our neighbors twice to be quieter...@ 11:30 PM & 3 AM, although posted quiet time is from 10 PM to 7 AM).
