Well, I was sure my GPS was crazy but I followed it faithfully to find this gem of a place in Watkins Glen- The Oar House at Frog Hollow Marina. Located well off the busy streets of Watkins Glen this little place is a quirky and comfy and a fun spot for drinks with friends or a full meal. Inside there is a full bar and some seating. The restaurant opens on the far wall to waterside where there are many more tables and chair groupings. The menu is simple but sandwiches, salads, soups predominate. I ordered one of their specialty sandwiches- a Reuben which is brined and cooked in house and served on fresh rye bread toast. Simply one of the best Reuben sandwiches I have had in years! The Oar House is only open on a limited schedule- Friday- Sunday and only thru the fall each year. My best advice- trust your GPS and find a perfect day to be near the water to visit the Oar House at Frog Hollow Marina! read more

First of all, the location on the canal is great. That's why it doesn't get 1 star. My $18 brisket hamburger was an average hamburger. $18. Did I mention it was $18 for an average hamburger ( and fries ) You order at the crowded bar and you order is taken to your table. They got some of our orders right. The sodas were mostly ice in a plastic cup. Since it's a bar I had high hopes for the beer. They had only one on tap. I got it in a small plastic cup, of course. While hidden gem is used too often that is the only term to describe this place. Located at Frog Hollow Marina in Watkins Glen it offers amazing food and drinks and the friendliest people in the area. Fish tacos are absolutely amazingly delicious! Sunday brunch egg slit sandwich superb! We will go back as many times as it takes to try every menu item with many specials changing daily. This place is the bomb!!! It's a little off the beaten path in Watkins Glen. It's on the canal and there are plenty of slips to park your boat. It's just such an adorable place and so cutely decorated. The owner has paid such attention to detail! The outside tables are right on the water and complete with umbrellas. The staff is super-friendly! They have everything for your drinking needs and they also have a food menu. You seriously don't want to miss this place! Dogs are also welcome outside. read more

Our first time visiting today, we had a tasty Reuben and fish tacos. The sandwich was definitely plentiful with a side of Mac salad. The bartenders were great and kept on top of things. Very sweet, tiny place with indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere was very relaxing, definitely has island vibes with fishing themed decor. Service was great! Menu is limited but you will find something that you like. We ordered the vegetable platter as a starter; just fresh cut veggies and dip, better than a salad and easily shared. I had the cheese burger with macaroni salad. The burger was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the macaroni salad is a must have. My husband ordered the cheesesteak sandwich and macaroni salad. The sandwich was a whole steak, not thin pieces of beef like a Philly cheesesteak, with peppers and cheese. He loved it. Lemonade and iced tea were notably delicious. We had dinner and drinks while visiting the area and were pleasantly surprised. The staff (especially Stan) were extremely friendly and accommodating. We arrived just before closing time, and they went out of their way to serve us. Loved the view of the marina and the ambiance. Our food was great, and the experience was even better. Party of 9 last weekend and we really enjoyed the food, ambience and staff. We went for lunch and a couple in our group enjoyed Bloody Mary's. We ordered burgers, reubens, veggie/dip platters, fries and onion rings. Everyone LOVED the food. Not one complaint. Apparently there is a lovely Sunday Brunch and we all checked out the menu with hopes of returning to town for that. Our server was attentive, friendly and not at all rattled by our rather large party. It was NASCAR weekend in Watkins Glen, but admittedly we were the only table there at noon. We were fearful that every place would be packed, but this is a place you'd probably need to be on the lookout for. Its down a side street at the end of town away from the tourist area, which was exactly what we had hoped for. Its right on the canal, and there was boat traffic. The place is not air conditioned, but even on a very hot day, the fans and opened windows kept things pretty comfortable. I am thinking that our server was Nicole, and I apologize if I am mistaken. She deserves to be recognized for being pleasant and cheerful. Her staff were lovely as well, but we didn't catch any other names. We look forward to returning here, and the "locals" in our group were so happy to have learned about Oar House. read more

The Oar House is a hidden treasure off the busy end of the lake. Don't be fooled by the drive in as you pass commercial type businesses. The staff is friendly and inviting. The food is perfect comfort good made with TLC. They have a full bar. I love this place! read more

A small outside pub right on the canal. A little out of the way, but worth the visit. This is a full service bar and drinks are made to order, as well as specialty drinks on certain days. Very friendly staff and even though it is a small menu there are some great things on it. The Reuben is great as the corn beef is house brined and stacked high. The burgers are freshly made with beef brisket and cooked to your liking; onion rings are also a great side. They are only open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sunday they serve brunch from 10 to 12:30 and it is a must try! The Oar House at Frog Hollow Marina is a hidden gem in Schuyler County. read more
