Well, I don't know how this place has escaped my notice. Tucked away underneath Whole Foods market in midtown Atl. We made our reservation online but arrived way earlier but got great valet service, and the hostess sat us in a delightful wait room where we ordered pre dinner apéritif. They were quick to set up a table for us since it was for a small birthday celebration. Divine!!. Our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable and helped us navigate through the menu effortlessly. What's good? Well the bread ...I can die happy now. Seriously, for a bread aficionado, this is the good stuff! We duped it in the mussels soup and the meatball sauce. I could have gone home happy with those. But.. wait! There's more! Yes we pigged out! We had the grilled Farm raised Trout, with Brussel Sprouts and Mash. Came for a work dinner, valet only, came with a reservation. They have a dress code, which is a little off putting, especially since my wife and mother in law commented on the women's restroom having multiple naked women art pieces on the wall. Service is excellent, something to be expected from a $$$ establishment. Their crab cakes are delicious. Corn souffle definitely worth it. Tuna tartare also good with spicy guacamole. I went with the popular trout, which was moist, delicious with arugula on top. Wife loved her salmon so much she didn't even give me a bite. Side salad blue ridge salad was good as well. Their blue ridge cabernet was also good. Overall, for special occasions or if someone else is paying, maybe it's worth it. You pull up to Blur Ridge and are immediately greeted by very kind and professional valet services. Upon entering the restaurant is dimly lit and provides a great ambiance. Prior to getting our table (highly recommend a reservation), our group went to the bar where the bartender was social, but not overbearing. We had a dirty (truly filthy) martini, old fashion & bee's knees which were all fantastic. Uniquely the old fashion does come in a martini glass. Proceeding to dinner we had the oysters & grilled octopus. The octopus was good, but nothing too special whereas the oysters were out of this world. The server was highly knowledgeable and kind. The food we got received great reviews, I can personally recommend the trout (recommend getting it blackened) & the snapper also looked to be the second best dish on the table. Would recommend highly, 4/5 stars because service was great overall, but a little slow. My wife and I have eaten at BRG many times, mostly takeout over the last two years, and it's sublime; it's so good that I somewhat hate to review it. We usually start with the mushroom risotto, tuna tartare, or the crab cake. All of the side dishes are worth ordering. The BRG Salad is a beauty. For entrees, we typically order the fried lobster BLT (#1), lemon chicken, American Wagyu Burger, or the grilled Berkshire pork chop (#2). The pork chop will convert any vegetarian to cross back over to the dark side. The desserts are divine - our two favorites are the vanilla bean creme brûlée and the chocolate banana bread pudding. This place is a gem, the room behind the bar area is fabulous to sit down with other guest and have conversations in very confortable furniture. The menu is not extensive however there are plenty of choices for any pallet. The staff is accommodating and hard working to assist the patrons. We had the pork and grits appetizer and it's was delicious with a glass of Frank Family Chardonnay. Blue Ridge Grill is an old school, classy, elegant, and traditional Southern restaurant that's existed on West Paces Ferry for over two decades. It's a popular restaurant with a well-to-do, old money, business, and Buckhead Betty type crowd. The restaurant is owned by the same folks who own OK Cafe across the street and Bones steakhouse on Piedmont Rd. Both Blue Ridge Grill and OK Cafe have blue plate specials on their menus. Reservations are highly recommended. Just about every time I've driven by this place or through its parking lot, it seems very busy. You can book reservations for free through OpenTable and earn dining points that can be used towards future discounts at select OpenTable restaurants. During peak times, the parking lot at Paces Ferry Plaza (the shopping plaza Blue Ridge Grill is located in, which it shares with other restaurants like Houston's and Pero's Pizza & Pasta) can be a nightmare. The restaurant offers complimentary valet parking if you don't have the time nor patience to circle and wait for a spot to free. The restaurant has a mountain lodge theme. It's homey and cozy with white tablecloths and servers and bartenders dressed up in vests and ties. There are button booths, a fireplace, and a peculiar rabbit-in-a-suit painting hanging above the mantle. When we visited for a Thursday lunch, the place was packed and loud. The recommended dress is business casual. The lunch menu consisted of starters like iron skillet mussels ($13), tuna tartare ($14), and crab cake ($17); a half dozen salad options ($13-24 each); entrees (which they call "blue plates") like roasted diver scallops ($24), hanger steak ($24), filet mignon (8 oz, $42), and an American Wagyu burger ($19); and Southern sides like mac & cheese, collard greens, and farro & field mushrooms ($6-9 each). We went with the following: * Grilled Georgia Trout ($22) - arugula, dill, lemon butter * Lobster Club Sandwich ($19) - Beeler's maple dipped bacon, tomato, arugula, honey mustard * Assorted Vegetable Plate ($16) - corn souffle, Brussels sprouts with bacon, sauteed spinach, whipped potatoes The food was good, but the value was questionable. I don't mind spending money on good food and I don't often criticize menu pricing. However, I didn't think our lunch was a good value. After spending close to $25, I left the restaurant feeling somewhat unsatisfied and still hungry. That said, the trout and assorted veggies were quite tasty. All of the dishes were prepared simply, presented nicely (on heavy Blue Ridge Grill branded plates), and served simultaneously by a team of food runners and servers (they do this for everyone). The trout was filleted, served skin-on, and topped with dill, lemon butter, and fresh arugula with a side of lemon. Light, good quality, and a lemony dish all around. Of the veggies/sides, my favorite was the Brussels sprouts (crispy outside, firm inside) followed by the corn souffle (soft and fluffy). Both were appetizing and flavorful. Everything was a little buttery/oily, but that's also what made everything delicious. The whipped potatoes were exceptionally rich and buttery. The chefs did not hold back on the fat. The spinach was plain, but I liked it. There was complimentary bread service to start and the bread was French boule (ball) bread from H&F Bread Co. (Holeman & Finch). It was terrific. Crispy, flaky, and crumbly on the outside, warm, airy, and soft on the inside. It came with a side of butter. It was probably the best thing we had. Service was slow. Even though we had a reservation, we weren't seated until 15-20 minutes after our reservation time. When we did receive service, it was great. Our server, Rollie S, and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. It took a while to get our check and when all was said and done, our workday lunch was pushing past 1.5 hours. First the good - Our server, Stephen was wonderful. He recommended the corn soufflé as a side dish, and boy was that great advice! The salads were flavorful, one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had, and the chopped salad was terrific. The valet parking made entry and departure efficient. At about $60+ per person (we're iced tea drinkers), we saw it as a reasonable value for a higher-priced dining experience. Now the issue - After dinner I asked my wife "how were the scallops," and I got an answer I hadn't expected..."chemically." I wasn't sure what that meant, and she said maybe there was just something in the sauce that tasted odd to her. Since there were only three scallops, she finished the meal, hoping for the best. At 2 a.m as she was throwing up, we learned the ramifications of the "chemically" scallops. Overall, it would have been an ideal 5-star experience had this not been the result. I had a great dining experience at the Blue Ridge Grill. It's one of the best restaurants in the area, off of 75, halfway between Atlanta and Cumberland. Complimentary Bread 5/5 Crispy Pork Belly 5/5 Mushroom Risotto Arancini 5/5 American Wagyu Burger 3/5 Brussels Sprouts 5/5 The pork belly was delicious, my favorite of the meal! Perfectly crispy with the best sauce. The second best was the complimentary bread, which seemed to be baked fresh. It was a good blend of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The mushroom risotto Arancini and Brussels sprouts were also good. My least favorite was my main course, the burger. I guess that's my fault for choosing to eat a burger. It was quite dry and the meat was a bit too charred. There wasn't much flavor overall. Next time, I will probably go with the grilled Georgia trout, which is what the waitress recommended. The service was great, with both the servers and the host team full of smiles and warm energy. They have additional staff to refill water. On a Thursday evening at 8pm, we came in without a reservation, and had to wait a bit because of how busy the restaurant was. The total bill for 2 people ended up being $45 per person. I would recommend dressing in nicer clothing. Some people will be dressed formerly, others nice casual. It would be rare to see casual clothing, and hats are not allowed in the dining room. They have. A nice dining room that brings good energy, but also gives a sense of privacy, especially in the booths. There is a nice sitting area in the front of the restaurant. Still a great place after all these years. Don't let the construction fool you - Blue Ridge Grill is open amid the chaos of the Houston's shopping center. Nice dinner with a friend, getting seats at the bar. Reservations are recommended and I am certain you'd need them on the weekend, but we could have easily had a table on a Tu night. Nice burger and a side of brussel sprouts. A lot of things on their extra "small" plate menu sounded good like the cream of mushroom soup (note: it has white wine in it), the goat cheese fritters, and the salmon tartare. It's a pricey place so go prepared for the filet and other steaks to start in the $40s and all sides a la carte. Next time I go it will be for a special date or occasion! read more

This review went from 4 starts to 5 because of these six little words..."your meal is on the house". -Valet met us at our car in the rain with HUGE umbrellas. - Hostess and wait staff were extremely nice, knowledgeable and attentive. I also really like that the wait staff have their name embroidered on their uniform vest. -The food was absolutely delicious. We had shrimp cocktail and a crab cake for an appetizer. The crab cake was one of the best I'd ever had, all crab no cake. For an entree we had the Lobster BLT, swordfish, corn soufflé and collard greens. The fish which was seasoned to perfection! Our wine and appetizers came quickly and I guess our entree were taking a while to come although we didn't notice. But our waitress comes to our table and apologizes about the food taking longer than they'd like to arrive at the table and our meal would be on the house because "they have standards." Went to BRG yesterday for dinner and it was alright. Not great, but decent. Probably closer to 3.5 stars. The appetizers that we had, the Mushroom Risotto Arancini and the Pork Belly were the best dishes of the meal. The BRG Salad was pretty good, however, it would have been better if the pecans had been caramelized. For the main courses, our table had the Rack of Lamb and the Filet Mignon with Corn Souffle, Asparagus, and Sauteed Spinach. The Rack of Lamb was fine, though, I think it should have been better described as lamb chops...the filet mignon was nothing special, but it was good. As for the sides, the corn souffle was extremely sweet. It needed a salty element and much less sugar. It tasted like a dessert. The asaparagus was nice and tender. The spinach was fine but kind of bland. We had the molten chocolate cake and the peanut butter mousse for dessert. The chocolate cake was fine. Nothing special. The Peanut Butter mousse wasn't great. All I can say is WOW! While being a passenger in the rental car, my buddy and business associate asked me to look for a restaurant that we can go to for lunch. Something that is more of a sit down and they serve you restaurant. The closest one was Blue Ridge Grill and although the photos that other customers posted made me hungrier, we decided to go there after a long day of photographing various project locations for our company. We walked in and the hostess was very friendly. The restaurant kind of reminds me of a colonial style with dark mahogany wood to hints of brass here and there. We sat in a booth and our server greeted us with a smile even though he was wearing a mask due to this ridiculous pandemic that we're all facing. My buddy ordered the Southern Lobster Cobb that consist of Georgia bibb lettuce, applewood smoked bacon, organic farm egg, goat feta, green beans, tomato, herb buttermilk. I was going to order the same thing but opted for the caloric filled Fried Lobster B.L.T. Sandwich which had applewood smoked bacon, arugula, honey mustard, house made potato chips. We were served in a timely manner and the food was absolutely delicious! The presentation was nicely done and not just tossed onto a plate. You can tell the cooks take great care of their customers with quality food preparation to exquisite presentation. Ever since that business trip, whenever my buddy and I go out to lunch, we always bring up the experience we had at Blue Ridge Grill and our lobster experience. I tried their seared duck breast, scallops and corn souffle. I love their corn souffle the best, followed by their duck breast. Their scallops are served on top of some oily rice noodles. My husband had the filet mignon and mashed potatoes. When I tell you nothing was memorable about this food, other than laughing at the fact that the mashed potatoes had to have been boxed lol. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this restaurant yet! It's the first fine dining restaurant we ever ate at when we moved to Atlanta. It's still a "go-to" almost three years later. We ate here last Easter and Easter 2019. It's one of the only places that doesn't do a buffet. I hate a buffet. Especially on such a special day. My menu is perfect. Brunch!! Something as light as a salad or a steak. They have it all. My boys got burgers and fries. They loved them. I got the brioche French toast and potatoes. Delicious and filling.
