Nice quick bite to eat downtown Blue Ridge. The workers were very nice and quick with our food. The place was small, but still had several tables. I got the pulled pork sandwich. It had a lot of meat I would definitely go back.

Place did not have much seating, and the food was pretty good, but it had the best toasted buns I've ever had

Thank goodness she was not going to let this ruin our day!

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would! We have been going to this establishment for the past 15years! 1st of all it is under new ownership! Owner is not friendly @ all! Former owners were AMAZING! She seemed very spaced out while trying to take our order! We received our food which was subpar! Now portions are much smaller, price is higher...a side of mac and cheese (which was mostly water) was $4.00. Before new ownership the bbq, Smoked chicken salad, fried pickle spears & corn nuggets were a must have on our multiple mountain trips every year! Once we received our food my daughter attempted to use the squeeze bottle of barbecue sauce when the entire bottle top ruptured and barbecue sauce went everywhere on all of us! No help was offered, someone removed the bottle during our chaos of going to the bathroom to try and wash off the disaster which was everywhere! I approached the new owner and suggested that some help would have been a nice gesture...her response was "I was busy" WTH...there was no one there but us @ that moment! WOW...we will NEVER stop here ever again! Don't waste a trip the food and service were TERRIBLE! The new owner is a disgrace

Dry cold "pulled pork"not good at all.

The place was clean and empty when entering . Unfortunately thats where the good things stop. The food was absolutely not worth the price and barley edible. It was So expensive too for the little food you get. All of our plates were cold, flavorless and dry. I ordered the pulled pork and it resembled wood-shavings. The sauce helped a tad(picture attatched). The sides were mediocre but at least they were kinda warm but were pretty grocery store frozen sides. Overall no effort put into serving decent food even when you are the only customers they get in the last hour.

Very small place with very slow service. The food is ok but definitely not worth the wait. Sausage was good and also pulled pork.

We were next door having a local beer when we spotted some meats walking by, and so we decided what goes better with beer than BBQ! We were not after a full meal, but just something to nibble on while enjoying the views and our beers, so we went with the loaded tots topped with brisket. The tots were solid, brisket was decent, a bit dry. The mac n cheese, while in theory sounds cool on the tots took away from the dish more than it added to it. Again, it was decent and easily shareable, but I would not order again for $17. Service was hit and miss at the bar. Since we were sitting on the patio behind the brewery, we went to the bar for service, which makes sense and was totally fine, but the bartender was not super interested, even though the bar was empty. Overall, the visit was okay. It is a great location and the partnership with the brewery is a great one given their shared space of the beautiful patio. When back in town, we may not seek Smokin E's out, but wouldn't completely avoid it either.

As an app we got; the redneck rolls, very filling so it was 4 stars for me. Now for the main meal: My husband ordered 2- meat plate: the beef brisket was super dry & the chicken he got was okay. He got mac n cheese: 4 stars Texas toast was super oily. and the fried okra was good- 5 stars. I got the pulled pork and that was good: 4 stars, The coleslaw was not good at all, it was very dry and didn't have much flavor. 1 star. Fries were fries. We probably won't be back but glad that they do give you a lot of food.

We shared the Brussel sprouts, the spinach and artichoke dip, and the three Onion and Apple soup. That soup was killer!!! Two in our party had the Tomahawk Pork chops. The gal behind the counter was very prompt and courteous and answered my questions about options on the menu. There is a big stove across the bar so you can see some of the cooking that gets done. The only issue with that is the heat...I didn't want my frosty beer glass to warm up while I enjoyed one of their local brews. I'd rather sit away from the cooking action. I ordered the crab cakes which came with coleslaw. The crab cakes had a nice sauce decorating the top of each cake. I asked for more because the crab cakes were a bit more bread filled than crab filled. I know I am spoiled with west coast Dungeness crab as you get a lot of chunks and not well flaked blue crab, but I really was hoping for more crab than I got for the money. The coleslaw was just okay. It was a nice mayo based dressing but lacked a tangy/sweet combo that I just adore. I am not impressed enough to return.

But a history is not the only thing this restaurant offers. This place is one of the very few that smokes the meat to a very obvious degree. I have not tasted this level of smoke in a while, and it is quite an acquired taste that is not commonly found these days. We ordered ribs, pulled pork, fried pickles, and a blackberry cobbler. The food was OK, yet the ribs had that unique smokey flavor of years past. This place is a gem of the past. The dessert was good, and the service was friendly.

I ordered the ribs, and they were fall-off-the-bone tender. The rub on them was delicious, and their sauce perfectly complimented the juicy meat. I wish there was a little more spice in their spicy barbecue sauce, but it was still delicious. I also tried their garlic salad, and it kind of just tasted like a bottled grocery store dressing without a lot of garlic flavor. The sides were good but nothing standout about them. However, their raspberry lemon cake was incredible. The tart lemon complimented the sweet raspberry flavor perfectly. I'd come back for their ribs and cake any day!

Not only it was on my birthday in which we celebrated. But our excursion to the mountains for the long weekend was a fantastic time. The beverages were on point, they have a great menu of bourbons. Will not disappoint. As a surprise they gave me a flourless chocolate Bundt cake to take home with a candle. For drinks, the Sweater Weather was the clear winner--well-balanced and thoughtfully crafted. The combination of Bulleit rye, La Pommiere Calvados, and sorghum created a smooth, seasonal cocktail with nice depth. The Properly Poached was decent but didn't quite impress in the same way; the Brugal Añejo, pear liqueur, dark wildflower honey, and pink salt made for an interesting profile, though it leaned a bit flat compared to the first cocktail. We started with the broiled sweet crab dip served fondue-style with pita chips, which was a great opener. It was warm, creamy, and rich, with good crab flavor that made it easy to keep going back for more. For entrées, the blackened mahi fish tacos were fresh and flavorful. The mango pico added a nice brightness, and the cilantro crema tied everything together nicely on the corn tortillas. The smash burger was another solid choice--juicy double patties with melted American cheese, crispy onion rings, house sauce, and house-made pickles that added a great tangy crunch. Service was ok waitress took a bit to bring the drinks and then the food took about 30+ minutes luckily we were entertained by talking to locals that we really weren't concerned. Overall, the restaurant delivers a pleasant upscale-casual dining experience with well-executed comfort favorites and creative cocktails. Definitely worth a visit, especially for the crab dip and the Sweater Weather cocktail and the fish tacos those were my overall favorites. Prices are mid range. Note that the restaurant as most restaurants in the Blue Ridge close early.
