Me and my fiancé traveled up to Blue Ridge Mountain for the first time so we wanted to try a barbecue place. This was the first place that we saw. We walked in and the lady that was there welcomed us with open hands. She was very sweet. very patient with us as we were looking at all of the menu options. As we're deciding what to eat, one of the cooks gave us a sample of some smoked chicken salad and I will say that was a 10 out of 10. After that, we got some sliced brisket, spicy sausage, baked beans, tater tots. Y'all I'm not even joking. This was the best barbecue I've had. The sliced brisket wasn't that seasoned however, when I mix it with everything else, it was perfect and complemented the entire meal very well. I usually don't leave reviews but felt the need to warn others. Adult plates are kids meal size portions. I wish I would have taken a picture! We chose the two meat plate, the bbq wasn't even enough for a sandwich. The side of beans was in a tiny sauce cup, and we got only a few corn nuggets. We could have had a better meal at McDonald's. It felt like we got samples of what an actual plate should have been. The food also wasn't good. Left feeling super sad and ripped off. read more

Visited this BBQ last week, and I have to say April, the owner is a sweetheart of a lady. Southern hospitality at its finest. We ordered the ribs, which were fantastic. Please note that the ribs are not slathered in barbecue sauce. All homemade BBQ sauces are offered on the side. I really appreciate BBQ that isn't covered in sauce, kinda lets you know you're getting a quality product not bathed in a sauce. I also appreciate the fact that everything is made fresh in-house every day. I would recommend this establishment if you're in the area. read more

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would! We have been going to this establishment for the past 15years! 1st of all it is under new ownership! Owner is not friendly @ all! Now portions are much smaller, price is higher...a side of mac and cheese (which was mostly water) was $4.00. Before new ownership the bbq, Smoked chicken salad, fried pickle spears & corn nuggets were a must have on our multiple mountain trips every year! Once we received our food my daughter attempted to use the squeeze bottle of barbecue sauce when the entire bottle top ruptured and barbecue sauce went everywhere on all of us! No help was offered, someone removed the bottle during our chaos of going to the bathroom to try and wash off the disaster which was everywhere! I approached the new owner and suggested that some help would have been a nice gesture...her response was "I was busy" WTH...there was no one there but us @ that moment! Sunday night and most places were closed. This was the only option available and we should have listened to the kids and gotten pizza. First, we walked inside to order but there were people online and no one had a mask on. Another place that thinks COVID isn't real. So we walked out and went to the drive thru. The girl at the window was nasty and very little customer service skills. We said we just were visiting and asked what she recommended. Her response was "Whatever you like". The place was clean and empty when entering . Unfortunately thats where the good things stop. The food was absolutely not worth the price and barley edible. It was So expensive too for the little food you get. All of our plates were cold, flavorless and dry. I ordered the pulled pork and it resembled wood-shavings. Very disappointing. We tried it a couple of years ago. it was okay. We try to vary our restaurant choices to spread our help to local businesses. We both had the brisket plate. $48 for two with soft drinks and a tip. brisket was so tough we couldn't cut it with the plastic utensils. Tried picking up slices. Very tough and chewy. Almost inedible. Sides of slaw and fries seemed like prepackaged items. Collards and okra were good. We won't go back. My wife and I eat out a lot, and this could be one of the worst barbecue meals I have ever eaten. It was overpriced and sparse the full order of fries looked like it was a third full. The ribs were overdone. The sampler platter look like a kids meal. I never review restaurants but felt the need to on this one. Just spent $64 for a family of 4 to eat, with only the kids getting drinks. Way over priced for what you get. I asked the server if they messed up and gave us kid sizes on the side items. Nope - just half the size you would normally get at a regular restaurant. The bbq was not horrible but not the best either. The sides were not that great, baked beans were hard and Mac and cheese tasted like out of a box. If you want good bbq I would recommend Carrolls in Blue Ridge or Biguns in Talking Rock. Today was a disappointment stopping here to try something new. We have eaten here multiple times and always ordered the smoked chicken salad. This time I ventured out and got the smoked sausage with onions and peppers. Well at least that's what I ordered and paid for it 45 minutes later I got smoked sausage with NO peppers or onions. It was ok. Along with this plate I got undercooked fries and canned beans with BBQ dumped in it. Wife got the chicken salad and it was good as always. The banana pudding set off a 30 minute discussion about what proper banana pudding is and what it is not. What she got was banana flavor pudding which she described as tasteless and fake. Driving into Blue Ridge we needed food after a long drive from Florida. We were in the Mood for BBQ since we passed so many place on the way into town but wanted something close to our cabin. A few BBQ places are closed several days of the week so we found this one open and we went for it. Pulling up the lot was empty we thought could be a bad sign or perhaps just later during the weekday we had missed the rush. My Husband ordered the pulled pork with toast and 2 sides ($9.99) with fried okra and Mac and cheese. Pulled pork is OK not the best not the worst. We will search out better during our trip. The m&c didn't look appealing- but was flavorful and creamy! Also the fried okra was on point! I got the smoked chicken salad on lettuce with crackers (or toast if you choose) YUM! I would definitely go back do the chicken salad and sides! They have a container out to sample and that sold me on it so kudos for free samples to entice! They had a counter with mild, sweet and hot BBQ sauce and a mild white and red hot North Carolina vinegar sauce. No frill seating inside and out. Customer service needs some major work. I took off 2 stars- one that the BBQ at a BBQ restaurant was OK not amazing and the customer service was non existent. read more

This place was kind of a let down after tasting the smoked chicken salad sample in the lobby of the restaurant. I should've ordered it. Instead my foolish butt ordered the chicken tenders which were soooooo dry and the macaroni and cheese which tasted more of a nacho cheese than a regular cheddar cheese. The pasta salad was dry as well and tasted days old. The bbq sauce however was delicious and I used a half of a bottle on the chicken tenders alone lol. You walk up the window inside to order, then take a seat and wait for your meal. The wait was a bit long, maybe 10-15 minutes to serve up our group of 6. I started with an order of fried pickles. They are the pickle spears, not the chips and are served with a side of ranch for dipping. The pickles were still a bit cold inside. For my entree, I ordered a Chicken BBQ sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese. The chicken was thinly sliced, smoked white meat on a toasted bun. There are three types of BBQ sauces available to serve yourself at the condiment station. The sandwich was ok, nothing to write home about. The mac and cheese was good, but very small side portion. My husband's chicken sandwich had to be the most disgusting thing ever- poor guy had a bite and we left. One of the only places open in town when we were looking for a late lunch on Sunday. Not sure why it only has 3 stars because this place was amazing! The service was really great as well and the woman taking our order could not have been better. The food had a good smoky flavor but not too overpowering, just right. The selection of sauces were tasty as well. We got the ribs and the half chicken. Would definitely recommend the half chicken not the sliced chicken. Best food item we had was collard greens--at a meat-centric restaurant. They had the foresight to tape on the counter a list of menu items they didn't have; however, it did not include the smoked half-chicken I ordered, so they served me bland sliced chicken breast instead. I had no interest in eating that, so they served me about a pound of "minced" (not pulled) roast pork. After a few bites and added sauces, I gave up on the whole meal. We ate lunch there on a Tuesday afternoon. There were no other people dining in the restaurant. We ordered the plate for two and got chicken and barbecue pork, with french fries, corn fritters, mac and cheese, and onion rings. The barbecue was really weird as they served it completely chopped up in very small pieces. It came with two pieces of garlic bread, but when you share the meal, each person gets one piece, so you can make a half of a pork sandwich. The rest you had to eat with a spoon because it was chopped up so small. The chicken was very bland and had very little smoked flavor. The onion rings were over cooked and very standard size, like frozen. The corn fritters had no taste other than the corn and fried batter. The Mac and Cheese was literally cheap boxed, power Kraft Mac and Cheese. It was actually runny like the boxed kind. The French fries were Kringle fries and pretty standard tasting. We also got the banana pudding. It was canned pudding with vanilla wafers on top. No bananas mixed in the pudding. The people working there were extremely friendly and that is why I've given the restaurant two stars. Very disappointing. We can not recommend this restaurant and won't be back. read more

First time here. Visited while on vacation. The menu selection is pretty good. With only a handful of customers, our food was ready in less than 10-minutes. Visiting from South Carolina, while the BBQ was tasty it wasn't what we are used to back home. Our friends from Ohio thought it was really good.
