We found this quaint spot on out way back from New Mexico. After reading the reviews we decided to stop in. This has to be one of the BEST burger joints we've ever been to. Although those working weren't as sweet as most places in Amarillo, the food was spot on!!! Their burgers are cooked to perfection and even served on a great bun. The French fries, both regular and sweet potato were perfectly cooked and seasoned as well. And even more, they have a huge selection of flavored teas that taste amazing!!! We always stop here when we go through Amarillo for at least 18 years now if not longer and this place delivers. I love their burgers and my family does too. I had a double bacon cheese burger with red Chile. Perfectly prepared great caramelization. Massive portion so I need to remember to get a single. We split fries, rings and chili sticks (Anaheim peppers) and all are excellent. I also had a peppermint (Blue bell) milk shake that is totally addictive. Good service. Nice people. Driving down I40, my family was looking for something fast, convenient, and not the typical Fast Food. Blue Sky Texas fit perfectly. The atmosphere gives you that Texas-proud feel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The, what seemed to be, hand formed hamburgers are delicious. Nothing is better then fresh cut French fries and homemade batter dipped onion rings. While the food was good, the staff preparing it almost made me not want to eat there. Almost every employee (including the ones preparing our food) had their mask only covering their mouth. A MASK IS NOT EFFECTIVE IF YOU ONLY COVER YOUR MOUTH. There were like 20 kids behind the counter, a lot of which were just standing around doing nothing. Why bring that many people in who can't socially distance if they're not even doing anything. We watched one girl behind the counter stare at her phone with her gloves on for 15 minutes, then proceed to continue prepping food with those same gloves. I'm so grossed out. If you're really hungry for a big time hamburger make a stop at this Amarillo burger joint, located on the south sideline I-40. Great burgers, but I would avoid the fries and onion rings. Way too greasy and limp. Perhaps they had set a little long. They probably shouldn't have been served...hence the four star. I came to Amarillo hungry and left 150% satisfied and full. upon checking at places to eat, this was marked highly, so I decided to give it a whirl. We were greeted at the door by a smiling, helpful, and patient gal. Per other yelper recommendations, we ordered a bacon cheeseburger with jalapeños, and a regular cheeseburger. The bacon cheeseburger was flavored, juicy, and thinly sliced. Oh, and did I mention just how LARGE it was!? We thankfully ordered a small, which was difficult to finish. No idea what a large would have looked like!? The jalapeño fries were definitely the way to go. Their French fries were good too, you could tell they were freshly cut and seasoned in house, just like the rest of our food. Really I have no complaints about this joint. Stopped here for a late lunch. At 2:30 the place was pretty busy. You place your order when you come in and pick it up when ready. Burgers are delicious, grilled chicken sandwich yummy and juicy. Passing thru Amarillo, Yelpers once again led us to perfect place. Blue Sky is right off the interstate, so easy. We recommend the fried mushrooms, worth the calories! Hubs got green chili cheeseburger with bacon AND guac, burger perfection. I had fried chicken sandwich with guac, yum! Onion rings were a no-go, thin cut and saturated with oil. This is a great little family owned burger joint. It's casual and kid friendly with music playing in the background. Service was prompt and friendly. The best part is the burger itself. While looking for places to eat in Amarillo (which was very hard), we stumbled across this place. Blue Sky seemed to be known around town, and all the hype can meet somewhat up to par. Food: The selection is fairly large, and the menu is posted on the wall. I ordered the bacon cheddar burger and was not let down. They were pretty fast to get the food out, too. The burger meat itself is not the best you can get, however, the toppings are what make the burger pop! The onion rings, french fries, and fried jalapeños are just some of the interesting sides you can get to spice up an order. Appearance: This place is just like any other burger shop: open grill, interesting things posted on the wall, and TVs galore.
