A higher star rating from me is warranted, however one of the challenges tied to any food truck is the availabilty of seating, shade, etc. There is one table with chairs available however and in our case today we were taking out regardless. The truck and work areas are clean and the menu is clear and concise (unlike some of the hastily handwritten ones for many food trucks). Although "tacos" provides the initial draw, the menu for Tacos Colima is varied. Other than tacos one can choose from burritos, super burritos, tortas, flautas, quesadillas, sopes, tostadas, and even a Torta Cubana sandwich. Protein options include pork carnitas, chorizo, chicharron (+$3), lengua (+$3), cabeza, shrimp, chicken, asada, pork adovada. We both went with burritos today - a carnitas Super Burrito - slightly larger and includes sour cream, avocado, and cheese - and a regular chorizo burrito - the regular is a simple beans, rice, and meat version. Being a chorizo "aficionado" I was more than pleased with my "plain" burrito. The soft tort was filled with an equal amount of chorizo, beans and rice. I was very happy with my choice. The portion was great for $7. The carnitas Super Burrito ($11) was also great, and large enough to opt for leftovers. My dining partner has also tried the carnitas tacos here which she stated were great. Nothing flashy, just really great, basic eats. Each of our plates also included shredded lettuce, thin sliced radishes, and a lime wedge. The burritos were also foil wrapped and were still nice and hot when we got them home. Such a great place to have close to us in Star. Very reasonably priced, fresh ingredients, and very friendly service. Highly-recommended.

Wow! This was sooo delicious…read more Had the birria quesadilla this week. It was loaded with tender beef, and perfectly melted cheese. A cup of tasty sauce and jalapeño slices on the side make for a delightful meal at a Boise Neighborhood Concert in the Park. The only knock - spendy.

So of course we made new plans, made sure our schedules are were open so we can snag a meal after a round of coffee. Today was that day! I did check out the menu online the night before. I like to see what they have and what their menu entails. The red curry coconut noodles really caught by eye! Noodles, broth, curry!?! 3 of my favorite things in a bowl! So,I went to the food truck feeling 100% in my food choice. Well, the red curry noodles were not an option so I had to look over the menu again. Total bummer since I had my heart and stomach set on it. After reading the menu board over and over again and it was still early enough that ordering breakfast wasn't weird, I decided on the Croque madame. Grilled ham and cheese with an egg, it sounded good. My sandwich did not look like it came out of a food truck. It also doesn't look like it should be in a to go container. My sandwich was a work of art! The egg was cooked perfectly. The fondue sauce was snow white. The pieces of cilantro added a beautiful color to it and was nicely sprinkled all over. It was just too pretty to eat! This sandwich is messy so the fork and knife that was provided for me was used! The bread was very soft and fresh! It toasted and buttery. There was so much ham! It made the sandwich very hearty. The egg yolk was runny and jammy. The cheese fondue was rich and savory. The heirloom tomatoes added a nice freshness to the sandwich. All together it was a very thick sammy. All the flavors were fantastic but it did get overwhelming to eat after few bites. I enjoyed the fondue but it was a lot for me. The fondue is very rich and you add all the other elements and it gets to be too much. If I order this again, I'll probably order it without the fondue. There's already cheese in the sandwich so it was overwhelming with the cheese sauce added to it. My friend ordered the chipotle breakfast sandwich and it looked amazing. It was simple and it looked like something I would have really enjoyed vs what I had ordered. I did ask the gentleman in the food truck if they will have the curry noodles anytime soon. With the cold weather coming, they are anticipating the noodles too be back. I look forward to that! I haven't frequented many food trucks but this one has really set the bar high! The quality of the ingredients used were fantastic and fresh. The service was great. The food truck itself was pretty neat. The location is fun and chill. I know we will be back and I look forward to having that bowl of noodles. If not noodles then I'm sure I will be able to find something that will be delicious.

The Rustic Oven in Middleton is in the corner of a strip mall next to a very clean, organized Idaho Yourh Ranch. But back to the food... They specialize in sandwiches--hot and cold--and baked goods. Since my time with my mom is special, I go a little extra each time. So we started with a Nutella roll. Holy heck. It was amazing. Kinda like the best chocolate chip cookie you've ever eaten. I got one to-go for my daughter too. My mom ate half of her pastrami sandwich so she could have another treat! She picked out a Huckleberry cream cheese pasty. So good, but so rich. I enjoyed my roast beef hot recommended by the delightful hostess, Avah. Her pride in their many offerings was evident. We took home the rest of our sandwiches. But right when she got home, my mom wanted the rest of her pastrami. I know she was full but it was that good that she had to finish it while it was still fresh. That's quite a testimonial. The Rustic Oven will be our new go-to place! PS: In Yelp, it's mistakenly described as a food truck. Avah explained that they used to offer pizza via a food truck, but that was years ago.

Sometimes, you have to be at right place at the right time…read more I was Payette Brewing in Boise the other night with my Boise. While we both enjoyed our drinks, we were getting hangry. I did notice a food trailer. Not sure if that the right word, but it didn't have four wheels, so it's not a food truck per se. They offered pizza, but just regular pizza, Detroit Style Pizza. I've never experienced Detroit Style Pizza and didn't even why they call it Detroit Style. For those that don't know, here's the definition, "Detroit-style pizza is a rectangular pan pizza featuring a thick, chewy, focaccia-like crust, Wisconsin brick cheese spread all the way to the edges for a crispy caramelized crust, and thick tomato sauce piped or spooned in stripes directly on top of the cheese and toppings." I spoke with a young man and he helped me navigate the menu until I found a possible option. Veggie Pizza I like pineapple but not on my pizza. Yeah, I know, I'm going to lose some Yelp followers and friends, it is what it is. I also like Basil but not on this type of pizza. Here came the dilemma. They didn't have any vegan cheese which means I was going to have to deal with the consequences of consuming cheese. With Detroit Style, there's a lot of cheese, but I explained my dilemma and they said they could make my pizza with light or easy cheese. Ok. ok. I throw caution to the smokey wind and said, 'Sure' I was given a buzzer and went back inside to have some beer. About 15 minutes later, the buzzer did its thing, and I went to pick up my veggie Detroit Style Pizza. I've seen a lot of pizzas. Matter of fact, I've attended and managed a booth of vegan cheese the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas several times. This pizza was gorgeous. See the picture! I came back to my seat, and everyone at the table was in awe and perplexed. In awe of how stunning it was but also curious as to where the cheese was! The previous week in Oceanside, California, I had the Luscious Lola at Gianni's, and it was one of the best vegan pizzas, I had ever had, but this Veggie Detroit Style Pizza with easy cheese was one the best pizzas I've had in Boise. That sauce, sweet with a touch of heat. The veggies and the crust. soft inside, and crunchy on the bottom. I enjoyed all four slices. It was amazing. I don't know where Boise Crust is most of the time, but if I see that little pizza trailer, it's going to tempt me to order the veggie light cheese again.

The sauce was zesty without being acidic. The meats were delicious. The dough had "just crispy" edges with light, airy and phenomenal flavor. Since they are a food truck, you will need to make sure where they are parked but some of the best pizza makes it worth the work. The service was friendly and, even though they are made from scratch, the turnaround time from order to hot pizza in your hands is surprisingly short. I am not sure what Detroit style pizza is but if Boise Crust is an example of it, count me in. Boise Crust is the spot for great pizza and we will be back.
