Birthday lunch and I didn't waft the same old same old. My partner is not and adventurous eater, so I suggested here as she does like BBQ. I almost laughed when we pulled up, "It smells good... How come we've never been here before?" (I believe I suggested it...) For apps I ordered cornbread and onion rings and let he tell you, you THINK you've seen onion rings before, yeah these are about 3x as thick! More than one "what the heck?" at that table! I used to live in Texas, been to Texas own BBQ of Mecca in Lockhart. I used to do the trip from Houston to Phoenix about 4x a year, a short 1200 mile trip... one way. I'd leave Houston at thee in the morning and would be standing at my favorite Lockhart BBQ place at six to order two pounds of brisket for. The rest of the drive, so I'm spoiled regarding brisket. This isn't Lockhart good, but it's not bad for Idaho. I think next time I'd get the Brisket Salad, someone in our party had it and looked haply. Mt wife had the brisket sandwich and it became both lunch and dinner for her... And I ate what was left. My brother in law had a Chicken Fried Steak that could feed a small village. Once I lose a few more pounds I may entertain a trip for it. The eternal question is, would I go back? At least twice for the salad and CFS! I got the brisket sandwich and it was delicious! It had Goodwoods own bbq sauce on it, which complimented the brisket beautifully. For the side I got the potato salad and dang it was loaded with hard boiled eggs, and very delicious! My server was friendly and very attentive. I got a slice of the Texas sheet cake to go, and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. If I lived local this would be a new spot for me to frequent. I just found some new favorite at Goodwood, which is an institution that is 26 years old. Their smoked fried chicken sandwich is amazing, it's smoked then batter fried that is crunchy on the outside and tender and smoky inside. Saturday, early lunch at Goodwood barbecue for the first time. It smelled so good before I walked in with all the smells of barbecue. The ambience is that of a chain restaurant with a warmth to the decor and it appears very clean. I ordered a tri-tip salad with their bbq ranch dressing for the menu price of $15.95. I expected this to be a ginormous salad but sadly it arrived in a large soup bowl. This medium salad was very modest, very demure, and very basic. It had four modest slices of tri-tip atop the salad. A tiny cornbread muffin and butter was on the side. I was starving so I dug in and ate the whole salad. It was very tasty and very satisfying. It was the perfect amount for one person. Very, very expensive to eat out nowadays Goodwood just reminded me of that. Service was very attentive, and our food came out quickly . I'd have to rate the salad just four stars out of five. I wouldn't rate the salad down for the value because this is just the going rate of food and downsizing that most restaurants have to do to stay afloat. Nice place with plenty of tables. The smell of BBQ hit me as I walked in. They have cocktails and beer on tap. The décor is nice. I ordered the open face burnt end brisket samminch. It was okay, but wasn't very warm. This is a knife and fork meal, since the bread isn't toasted. Not a big serving of meat, but it was adequate. The steak fries were decent but not hot. I thought the squeeze was going to do her own rating so I didn't take a picture of her Cobb salad. Compared to about every other eatery we've been to that has main salads for around $15, this looked like a side salad. Peighton did a fine job as our server. We we had 9 people at the table, so they added a 22% tip on the bill. My problem is, I tipped 22% to the Governor since they figure the tip after taxes. So I actually tipped 23.5% on our meal. The service here is on top of their game. All of the staff were courteous, quick and friendly. We ordered the lunch special combo platter with Smoked Chicken and Pulled Pork as well as the Burnt Ends Brisket with Mike's Baked Mac & Cheese. The bbq was genuinely not good. The burnt ends had some sweet bbq flavor, the beef ribs were tough and flavorless.

Pick up order. I ordered the brisket, turkey, sausage, pulled pork which I did not get and ribs. This has to be the worst BBQ I have ever had in my life. All of there meats were dry especially there brisket. I have had beef jerky that was better than the brisket. All of the meats tasted as if it was reheated in the microwave. Another thing is I ordered a pound of pulled pork which they forgot to give me and when I called they weren't able to give me a refund due to paying in cash. Just arrived in from California where I cook bbq every week so expectations were high. The beef, St. Louis and baby back ribs did not disappoint. Smoke over real wood you can see stacked in back, these ribs had a nice mild smokey flavor. The beef ribs were seasoned well, more of a salty slight sweet flavor, moist, tender, clean pull off the bone. Same for the pork ribs which had a slight sweet heat sauce to them with no over saucing. Sauce was tacky yet soft but not runny. 4.5 stars For the sides, they fell flat except for the smash potato which was loaded. The coleslaw was bland, definitely needs vinegar, sugar, salt and a few other additions. The Mac n Cheese was also plain vanilla MNC and it needs something else to make it more flavorful. Salt, Jalepeño, or anything to elevate it to a great mac n cheese. The creamed corn was more corn with potatoes in a more liquidy sauce. Cream corn is something I make much thicker, heavy cream and and some great seasonings. 2.5 stars Service was outstanding from Cayleigh which elevates the average to 4 stars. It had a great taste, but in my point of view and taste their was hardly any meat in the ribs. I took 3 ribs that were left for my nephew he called me to tell me that them ribs had NO MEAT! I also like the fact that gratuity is added to parties who are more than 8 people. Came here tonight with my wife, oldest daughter and son in law tonight...I would rate this right down the middle it wasn't awesome and it wasn't bad. The food just tasted mass produced but still had great smoke flavor. My wife had the prime rib and she loved it but my beef ribs fell a little short. My son and I ended up in Boise in the middle of the pandemic and after tromping around and finding many restaurants shuttered, I pulled out Yelp and we went on a search for comfort food. I'm happy to say that we found it. Despite the address having been further away from the heart of town than we realized, it was worth the drive. We both ordered the Baby Back Ribs and their House Barbecue Beans were particularly tasty too. We both prefer saucy, meaty ribs over dry rub style, so these were right up our alley. Also, the portions were ENORMOUS. Service was prompt and courteous, even though they were obviously still in the process of adapting to the changing standards (this was back in April). The only drawback for me was the styrofoam container. Coming from California, I haven't had takeout served in styrofoam in years and so there was a side of guilt that came with the meal. That said, it had been a long day and the food was fantastic. In fact, when we tried ordering takeout barbecue recently, my son waxed poetic on how it paled in comparison to Goodwood and how it made him wish that we were closer to Idaho!
