Today we ordered the brisket nachos. We always do it with fries which is amazing, but decided to try chips instead.. there was no cheese on it at all. It was extremely dry, and the chips were burnt. Every time we order food to eat there it's perfect, but to go I would not recommend it. I think there needs to be a little more consistency amongst who is making the food.. and we ordered the brisket burrito about six times and every time we do it to go it's tastes way different.. It's been a while since our last visit! Since I had a bogo meat plate special for Valentine's Day, my husband and I decided to give R&R another try. We headed in and were pleasantly greeted at the register. I ordered the 1 meat plate with spicy andouille sausage, garlic smashers and a roll. Hubby got the chicken, Mac and cheese with hush puppies. Food came out very quickly after ordering, was delicious looking and the person that delivered our food was exceptionally friendly. Spicy andouille sausage was exactly that...spicy. I can handle spicy andouille sausage it was borderline too much for me. However, the sausage was very fresh, juicy, hot and plump. The roll was fresh and soft. The biggest disappointment was the garlic mashers and gravy...though not bad tasting, the gravy and mashers were barely lukewarm, the gravy was almost cold. The Mac and cheese was lukewarm at best, but I actually really enjoyed the flavor and texture (and I'm not the hugest fan of Mac and cheese). The chicken was juicy and tender, nicely warm and ready to eat. The hush puppies were dense and incredibly dry....we had to drown them in bbq sauce and combine with everything else on our plates to swallow. At least the sweet bbq is delicious. It's hard to want to love a place but still have so much inconsistency, not to mention the same temperature issues as I experienced a few years ago. Went with the link, chicken thighs and pork loin (new to the menu) this time everything was about 7/10. Pork loin possible the best bite but maybe because it was my first time trying. Disappointed! As you walk in they ask you what they can get you but it's hard to see the menu on the wall because of the post in front of it. I asked for 2 meat plate with brisket x2. I have been to R&R BBQ many times in the past and when I went today it seems that their quality went down. Their food was decent. I got their new BBQ Burrito and I was not impressed. It was greasy, but yet so was pretty much all of their other food. I guess you should expect that when going to a bbq restaurant however. The service wasn't that great. They made us wait about 5 minutes before serving us and they seemed to have been doing nothing while making us wait. The ambiance however makes up for their food and their service. As you can see by the number of reviews I leave that I don't review much if at all. However after our recent order from R&R, I felt it necessary to post to protect others from the same experience. We ordered some pulled pork and some rolls for a football party. For $20 we got roughly 3 servings of pulled pork and the rolls were $9 for 12 which at first glance didn't sound out of line. That is until we showed up and instead of 12 warm rolls in a container, the young man handed me a cold bag of Seattle International dinner rolls which are sold at the grocery store...for less than half the price no less. I asked for a fresh piece and she said all of the lettuce looked the same so she gave me some chopped lettuce which wasn't much better. Eh this place we ended up at was actually by accident. We meant to go try the chicken tender restaurant next door but weren't paying attention and walked in and after looking around realized we were in the wrong spot. We stayed because it smelled so good. Ordered two drinks a cheeseburger and fries for me. My partner she got the pulled pork sandwich and beans. We also ordered the bread pudding and it was supposed to come out later so we could have the food first. It all came out together so they took it back and probably stuck it in the fridge til later. I'm not sure how it came out to 37$ but that was with an included tip. Food was not hot. My burger was one of the worst I've ever had. I've had a lot of burgers in my time. They advertised cheddar cheese and the cheese on it looked to be more American than anything. It not only had a weird texture but was also bland. I didn't even eat half of it. I thought if I added sauce it would improve it but nope. I couldn't. The fries were good though. They put a sink for you to wash your hands and it's outside the restrooms. The turkey was okay it wasn't Smokey at all and was slightly warm. The pulled pork was good added the spicy sauce to it on the side which helped give it moisture. The hush puppies were good but a little dry. The bbq beans seems like they were a can of bushes baked beans Wife's order two items, turkey and St. Louis ribs. Sides were hush puppies and the creamed corn. She agreed on the flavor and warmth of the turkey. Also the dry hush puppies, she did however like the cream corn. Where the meal went south and I mean south. The ribs were un edible. So much fat and the meat you couldn't get off the bone. I took it back and asked is this how you cut it. They seem to cut the bone and don't cut along the ribs. Also it's not supposed to fall off because it's St. Louis style. I don't buy that excuse. They did cut ius a new helping it wasn't much better. OK, before I get into the particulars I will say I read a few of the 1 & 2 star ratings on this site - a common practice of mine, a word comes to mind when reading them for the most part ..crybabies. I always enjoy a fair and direct review but honestly no whining please. Now onto the real deal - finding this spot can be a bit challenging for the directionally challenged, to aide you in landing well R & R is close to the Th Village Cinema (same parking lot) but is located on the South side of the lot, looking across the parking lot from the Theater towards Fairview. When you arrive the signage is clear, R & R in red above the building AND on the entry door a BBQ giveaway - welcome meat eaters ! The layout inside is similar to that of a Chipole look alike with some nice upgrades. When you order at the counter there are a good list of many options (yes including salads, if I have to) including a M-S list of specials of the day - like this. After ordering you get a "order holder stand" for your table, they bring the food out and you are set to dig in. Our food nearly beat me to the table .. The condiment / drink center is nice and carries all the usuals, I have to give a shout out for the utensil dispenser, nice one. Landing spots/tables/floors were clean and well set up, 4 picks of BBQ sauce, a paper towel roll and elbow room, chairs are comfortable. There are multiple TV screens set up as in a sports bar of sorts without the loud noise. Clearly you have many menu options to collect your meal of the day but the lunch special is nice, it comes with a large portion of meat and a side of your choosing. Myself, I opted for the Thursday special Rib Tips and a side of potato salad - at the end of the day, homerun. The potato salad had good flavor and wasn't mushy, a good portion. The Rib Tips were well seasoned, large portion, crispy on the outside and juicy and warm on the inside, ready for the eating. My meal was the full deal - actually ended up with some take home. Since I visited at noon time the crowd was moderate and the atmosphere comfortable. I found the staff more than helpful (5 stars) in multiple engagements. I have been coming to the meridian location since opening and my company has had multiple catering events over the years and Mariah one of the associates has by far always had a smile on her face, hard working and always prioritized customer service and experience every time I've been there. R&R BBQ provides a decent BBQ experience, though fails to excel in many areas. While some items I ordered are delicious, others I would never eat again. Order Pictured: Spicy Andouille Sausage Pulled Pork Peach Cobbler Mac and Cheese Short Ribs (Off Camera) Hush Puppies (Also Off Camera, Apologies) Starting off, the Spicy Andouille Sausage (although not spicy) is pretty good. It has a good amount of juice and holds together well, while providing a nice and complex spice profile. Definitely the best item on the menu. The pulled pork is also great, and pairs very well with their Carolina style BBQ Sauce. Speaking of the BBQ Sauces, they are all fantastic and definitely a great selling point. The Spicy BBQ does have a bit too much of a sriracha flavor though, but is still great (It's very obvious how they added heat). The peach cobbler is pretty decent, with a nice flavor and texture profile, though I found it a bit soggy compared to some of the better cobbler's I've had the chance to eat. The Mac and Cheese is where it definitely goes downhill, and it was very greasy and oily. The noodles felt undercooked, and there wasn't enough cheese flavor to make it worthwhile. Definitely the biggest issue was the oil though, it felt soaked in grease. The short ribs were also a downfall, as they were very tough and the trimmed improperly so the bones were hard to remove. Definitely the worst item here. The hush puppies, however, definitely redeemed this location, as they were fantastic in both texture and taste. While a bit dry, I found that eating them with some of their BBQ sauce made it a fantastic side. read more

The wife and I tried R&R BBQ for the first time about a week ago on a Friday night after finding other places packed with long wait times. We found a parking place at the Village which can take a while on a Friday or Saturday evening. When we entered R&R BBQ we were greeted by a smoky aroma (so far so good). There were a couple open tables, and we didn't have to wait more than 5 mins. to order. We both ordered the daily special (Pineapple Pork Sandwich) that also came with a side and drink for each of us. We also ordered the (Peach cobbler) which was more of a crumble per my wife, and a couple scoops of Ice Cream. I estimate it took about 15 min. for our meal to arrive, and both our sandwiches included coleslaw which was great, but not expected (since it's extra if you order on other days of the week). The sandwiches and fries were filling, but left room for dessert. The Peach Cobbler was just the right size for sharing the calories, and we left feeling satisfied. Overall, I'd give R&R BBQ a 9/10 since we didn't encounter any issues with the food or service. Will be back again... thanks! read more

I am giving two stars because fried pickles and hushpuppies were decent. Staff was nice and tried but were obviously not trained well. I went in a couple months ago and had 3 meat plate. All meats were shy of warm. Brisket was dry and tough. I said something and they cut me some more brisket which was a little mor tender, with a bit more juice but stringy due to being cut wrong. I emailed corporate who was going to send me a gift card to try again to make up for it. This never arrived. Don't waste your time. read more

We've supported R&R since this location first opened. We've bought several meals throughout the year, but it's going the way of Dickey's with the quality significantly lowered than when they first opened. Potatoes with dry, over-baked skin from reheating the previous day's potatoes with brisket on top containing 50% inedible fat and 50% meat despite ordering it lean; riblets' skin is so tough you can't stick a metal fork through it; chicken with pieces too small and fatty (son asked "what happened to the long pieces they used to serve?"). Sidebar - their new mac and cheese is disgusting, bad move. Bring back the old mac! Their rolls with the family pack used to be so GOOD and now they're just store bought rolls. The buns on the sandwiches used to be soft and fresh, and now they're just brioche buns from Costco. It's all going downhill! The only thing unchanged is their pulled pork, which appears to be consistent from Day 1.
