I got the 3 meats, 2 sides: brisket, pulled pork, ribs, Mac & cheese, baked beans with brisket I loved their brisket, and pulled pork. Soft, tender, juicy, well seasoned. The ribs in the other hand was too dry, and bland. The only to make it flavorful was to dip it in their sauces. We were craving some BBQ so we did some research online and found this place! One cool thing about this restaurant is that it's a drive thru bbq. We ordered at a drive thru and it took them less than 10 minutes to make our food. The staff were super nice and ambiance felt like a modern bbq joint. We got the half pound of brisket, half pound of pulled pork, half rack of pork ribs, Mac n cheese, beans with brisket and we also got pickled onions and pickle. The food was great. I really liked their Mac n cheese as well as brisket. The sauces they provided us with were also great. The ribs were on the dry side but we added some sauce to it which helped add moisture to it. After day 1, her team decided to head towards The Warehouse Food Hall, so we tagged along and wife wanted bbq, so Neighbor Tim's BBQ. Ordered the three meat plate with 2 sides: Brisket x2 and Pulled Pork with potato salad and baked bean; OH I added two buns which I thought (at least one) came with the plate. Food served like cafeteria style, they push your food tray down until you pay. So it didn't take long to get our food. After finding a table the brisket looked dry, but the pulled pork was dripping moist (it's great by itself but their sweet sauce enhances the flavor of the pork)! The beans and potato salad was good but really nothing special. I ended taking the brisket back to the hotel with one bun hoping it would taste better in the morning. And it was! With a little help from the microwave (released the juices) and toasting the bun, I had a delicious brisket sandwich for breakfast! FYI: This what increased my overall experience. Very disappointed. I ordered the advertised family meal expecting enough food to actually feed a family. Unfortunately, the portions for the sides were shockingly small. When I asked about it, the employee told me they "weigh everything out." Once I got home, I weighed the sides myself, and as I suspected, they were under what was advertised. For a place that promotes family meals, this was really disappointing. The value just isn't there when you pay for a family-sized portion but receive containers that are barely enough for one person. After reading all the amazing reviews about this place, I must say we were pretty disappointed with our experience. The food was just ok, but the service was great! Food: 3/5. We got the 3 meat & 2 sides platter with German Sausage, Brisket, Ribs, coleslaw, and potato salad with brisket bits. The sausage was by far my favorite item. The mustards with the sausage was pretty good. The brisket was pretty dry, fairly fatty and pretty bland. The ribs (which I was looking forward to the most) had barely any meat and was also bland. I did enjoy that it came with several sauces to choose from but I wish the ribs had a sauce already on them. The sides were both good, not great. Service: 5/5. The young man that took our order was very nice and we got our food pretty quickly. Atmosphere: 4/5. It is all outdoor seating, which was nice but also not great for stormy/windy days. The street is also fairly busy. It's a cute little setup. Kid friendly: 4/5. They do have a kids menu and it is nice being outside so you don't feel as bad when your kid makes a mess. I don't believe they provide high chairs but there is enough room for a stroller if needed. This is, more or less, a drive through, although there are 4 bench tables you can sit at under a metal canopy. The problem are the flies when there is no wind. And when there is wind, hold on to your napkins. I was at their downtown location that is in a food court. The food there was good enough to draw me here today. It's not as good as the brisket here was fatty but not so bad that I'd give a lower rating than downtown. This place caters to local students as they offer discounts to them. All of these traits and feelings can be found at Neighbor Tim's BBQ. I've had Neighbor Tim's on my radar for awhile buts it's tricky when you're a not meat eater and you have few friends ans family that like BBQ. Weird right ? As chance would have it, my brother was going to be in town and I missed taking him when he visited with his family earlier in the year. With him and my daughter in tow, we made it to Neighbor Tim's with about 30 minutes before closing. My brother was already showing signs of drool has he reviewed the menu ans then he spoke the to who I like to think was NTBBQ Queen, Mrs Neighbor Tim. My brother knew what to order and then ordered it with all sorts of smokehouse knowledge. He and my daughter ordered ribs, brisket and pulled pork plus sides of coleslaw and macaroni and cheese I consider my brother who smokes his own meat an expert in all things smoked and BBQ. He's been to legit places in Carolina, St Louis, and Texas. He knows BBQ and when the order arrived, he had starry eyes. He went fork deep into the brisket and closed his eyes, then chewed, stopped, reflected, and took a breathe then continued to chew. The ' Ah man, this is legit ' was as good as it gets from a proclaimed BBQ expert. He then went after the ribs followed by a deep dive into the pickles and the pickled red onions. My daughter sank her fork into the wet and deep Macaroni and cheese. It was definitely had a homemade and handcrafted look but there was no denying that the macaroni were tiny islands in a sea of yellow cheese sauce that was thick and saucy. Between the both of them, they obliterated the meat plates and most of the sides. One of the cooler things that I noticed was that the platters were not the typical metal cookie trays that is often seen in lunch and BBQ places. These trays were made of recycled paper formed into a tray. Really neat Neighbor Tim's has a few picnic tables and also has a drive through lane or two. If you're looking for BBQ done right and want to experience it from your next door neighbor on a Saturday afternoon, then Neighbor Tim's is your neighbor right around the corner. The first time I went there was okay but just okay . But I give everybody a second chance and the second time I went was better I got to admit . But the pork was so fatty the sandwich was so small that the bread was saturated Grease . So bring a fork . The brisket seem to be okay but I had it and a brisket sandwich was decent . I noticed they had nachos so I tried to brisket nachos big mistake . If you take a big block of salt and just lick it like a salt lick that's what it tasted like . I believe they salted chips and a salted cheese and then they started the and then a salted everything on top of that . Do not call and complain he takes these things personally like your attack at him . Like he's the barbecue King and you just slapped him . Well I tell you what he is definitely not the barbecue King he's not the best barbecue in town by far. On a scale of 1 to 10 he's about a four . Read the bad reviews first and give you a pretty good idea of which to expect when you get there . I've noticed is help is very nice but they don't last long so I bet Tim is hard to work for. This will definitely be my last time at barbecue at Tim's . He is not worth a drive even if you just have to cross the street . He gets mad at you when you complain does not take the start of criticism well at all do you think she knows everything about barbecue . He does not . Try the place in Garden City is better . All the good stuff said about owner Tim Goebel's business for the great food and delightful service holds true across umpteen take outs from Neighbor Tim's location on Goddard since my first comments in September 2021, not long after Neighbor Tim's opened. But more good stuff discoveries in the interim since my first comments to now. I'll start with a selfish one: GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS ABOUND: Now that I find myself in the medical professional suggested "no gluten for you" mode, I just learned that all of Neighbor Tim's offerings but the mac n cheese and bread for sandwiches are gluten free. Hooray! And thanks to the always helpful folks inside the kiosk at Goddard, at my visit last one the man on duty was particularly helpful and was able to read the label on the nacho cheese sauce, I was craving taking home the deconstructed nachos, was also gluten free. (Tim's is a scratch kitchen and it may be the nacho sauce, bread and the pasta they use for making the scratch mac n cheese are the only processed in advance products.) I will grieve not being able to order a side of mac n cheese anymore, but boy, howdy, there are so many other great options here. PS - remember to ask for a side of Tim's Original BBQ sauce to go with the deconstructed nachos. I forgot this time. Now more good news stuff: ANOTHER STORE: Neighbor Tim's has been deservedly super well received, not only for the food at this kiosk for take out but for catering too, and last August Tim also made the leap to open a location inside The Warehouse food hall in downtown Boise. So we were on vacation in Idaho when I came across this gem on yelp and decided to try it out. I guess I picked the best day to go cause Tim himself was working at this location. What an amazing place the food was to die for delicious. And Tim so personable so inviting and this is a walk up stand for barbecue open arms with an amazing human being. We love the food we loved him and every time we go to Idaho, we will make it a point to visit.
