Sadly, this wasn't the best BBQ experience for us. We ordered the three-meat platter with chicken, brisket, and jalapeño cheese kielbasa, but unfortunately, the meat was very dry and rubbery. We have ONE Dickeys left in our treasure valley and it's still wonderful!! The owner is top notch and goes out of her way to be accommodating and professional. I prefer the meat plates to the sandwiches. The sandwiches need more sauce because they e always been a bit dry to my liking. However, the plates are fantastic and flavorful. The service is always top-notch. I have no complaints at all in that category. It is located in Star, Idaho...a jaunt for a meal. Totally worth the drive or extra delivery fee to enjoy some good bbq. Imagine joining Dickeys Club anticipating nice birthday Freebie treat---like website offers! And when you verify with a call....the "manager" has to contact owner to see about birthday treats? Last time I was in Idaho...there were numerous Dickey's---now just Star? I had $75 gift card to treat friends last month....so we went to Star. Confusion; undertrained staff; wrong orders. But the cards were already purchased. Decent food. Okay value. But minor chaos. I had a loaded potato as a side---yummy. So I priced it to be told $12.95! Are you F-ing kidding me? Needless---I NEVER got my free birthday sandwich. And I unloaded all Dickey's links; guess I see now why there really is NOT a "credible" Dickey's in Boise area. How's that saying go? Moving from Texas to Star I thought we would miss out on what makes bbq good but landon made sure that we got a great quality experience in Idaho. Just gross. Chicken wings were raw and the kids working had no idea what was going on. I tried to be patience but the poor service and gross food is a sign of really bad management. Do not recommend coming here. The tables and counters looked sticky and had left over food sitting on them, and the drink out of the machine had a moldy, stale after taste. Just bad. I hate to leave poor reviews but unfortunately this experience was not good at all. We live in Hailey and visit our kids in Star frequently. Finally decided to give Dickie's a try for take out. My first experience with the restaurant ever, but my son used to visit another store and said they were good. I ordered a group meal, 2 pounds of meat, three sides. Also, a rack of ribs, wings and 2 small salads. We wanted some leftovers. The meat was sliced brisket, and pilled pork. The brisket was fatty and stringy... (sliced incorrectly). The pork was okay. The ribs were awful! My 8 yo granddaughter said they were gross and ribs are her favorite. One of the sides was wrong, two tiny sauces for all the meat, no wing sauce, no salad dressing for the one salad not two. Sooo, we threw out most of the $160 order. So sorry to have made this choice the night before Mother's Day. read more

I have not written a negative review before but want to give the owners of Dickies BBQ the chance to do better for others. My husband and I both ordered the 3 meat plate. The portions were ridiculously inadequate, the meat was cold, I was not given the correct meat that I ordered. The sides were also cold and we ordered mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. We were not offered sauce. The kids in there had more important things to do than serve customers. It was not busy at the time were were in there. For a meal that coat $44.98 we expected better. We won't be returning, but hope some things are corrected so others can enjoy it. read more

Recently visited this establishment and had less than stellar service. They were out of buns and options that we had specifically chosen this restaurant for. (Sweet Potato Fries). However- the employee Shelby went out of his way to go above and beyond with excellent customer service. He was patient, apologetic and made our order to the best of his ability with limited resources. His work ethic shined while under pressure. Do not use this location if you plan to cater for the holidays. I placed my catering order and upon arrival, I asked about making sure the rolls were on the box for the pulled pork and brisket only to be told they were out of rolls! Wait, what, how do we serve the pulled pork without rolls? Which was included in my purchase! Instead we got very soggy toast!! I could have looked past this if I would have been notified ahead of time so I could have stopped and bought rolls prior to picking up my order! We stopped into dickeys the other day after we dropped our car off for a tire change. We were hungry and hadn't been to this location yet. I was extremely hopeful that it was going to be good since I know that the owner is local... I figured maybe he would be there. When we walked in, there was a pile of to go supplies all over the "bar"... And the teenagers that were working didn't seem to know what they were doing. I ordered a baked potato with bacon, butter and sour cream... My husband ordered the sausage plate. The baked potato wasn't even cooked all the way through, most of it was hard and it wasn't even hot. So the butter that they put on it didn't even melt. The bacon looked like it was par cooked... not actually crispy. My husband's sausage wasn't cooked at all. It was cold and he had to go back in... They told him they forgot to cook it.. I was under the impression that everything at dickies was supposed to be hot so it was ready to eat at a moments notice. I guess I will never understand how you own a business without ever being there to see it successful. It's really sad. I grew up in a restaurant family and my uncle was there all day every day to make sure that he had quality food coming out and that his staff knew exactly what they were doing. To sum up, this was a huge disappointment. The owner clearly doesn't care about his business and his employees clearly don't care about what they're doing. What a waste of $30. read more

This was my first time ever trying a Dicky's bbq restaurant. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich that was listed on the drive thru menu for 8.99. It turned out to be 10.98 for the sandwich only. Pork was good, but lukewarm/cool Brisket was overcooked/tough and lukewarm/cool. Sides were also not cold Cornbread was hard and cold. We hadn't been to a Dickey's in a long while, and it was the Meridian location, we remember really liking the food. We thought we'd give this location a try. It was absolutely a horrible decision. Our food was really gross, cold, sandwich was dry, everything looked sad and pathetic, and like they microwaved everything. It was the worst restaurant food we've probably ever had. New to Star. We finally got a good barbecue restaurant in Star. The food is great. They still need to work on the customer service a bit: too many teens standing around gabbing instead of helping customers & cleaning tables. There is limited space in the restaurant, so it might be necessary to share a table with a stranger.(not a bad thing, though). We have ordered Wing Boss through Dickeys a few times and love their wings. We have done pickup and delivery before with no issues. Tonight my husband did a delivery order the same way we always do. 30 mins after it was supposed to be delivered, still no food. Husband called, learned the food was made and had been sitting on their counter for 40 ish minutes. There was no valid explanation on why it was not delivered like it was supposed to be. The manager was unwilling to help or even be polite on the phone, when asked how the food was going to get delivered my husband was called a "prick" and accused of "just trying to get free food" even though he never asked for a refund, we have three kids who needed dinner. At one point the manager threatened to just throw away the food... Ultimately my husband had to go pick up the food, and the delivery fee & tip was never reimbursed. Food was cold and soggy. It makes me really sad to write this but someone has to. I worked at a Dickey's around 3 years ago, back then it was my favorite restaurant. It has also been about 3 years since I've eaten there, with that come's my issues. Everything I received in my door dash order tasted extremely... well... cheap... I got a 3 meat plate with turkey, jalapeno cheddar kielbasa, and beef brisket. I got more fat with my brisket then I did meat, the turkey had no flavor and was extremely dry, and my kielbasa looked like it had been sitting under a warmer for hours. My sides where Mac and cheese, and fried okra. The mac and cheese wasn't very creamy, it had more of the "under a lamp for an hour then mixed" taste to it. The okra on the other hand wasn't bad, it was cooked well, but what ever seasoning is used now isn't very good, it's boring. I also got Texas toast. Very, very disappointed in the Texas toast. It's no longer Texas toast, it is regular toast. Anyone who knows what Texas toast is, knows that it's a complete different of bread, not just sandwich bread... At the end of the day if I am paying Twenty-one dollars for a meal I would like quality items, especially since I know that the quality used to be there. read more
