I'm super behind on reviews. It feels like I've been on the go since January! But no complaints... I love my life and this is my season of "go" but let's get these reviews GO-ing! Blue Sunday is literally far and in Laurel, MD. I am starting to realize driving to the boondocks is not ideal just to eat somewhere new. Blue Sunday is beautiful and the owner knows what they are doing but would I drive all the way to Laurel just for Blue Sunday, no! Ambiance is great! Service is great but the location is too far away from home. Happy Hour is a HIT! If I lived closer I'd definitely come! Let's get into it! It's been so long I don't remember all the dishes! Good Food, Bad Bones, and a Manager Who Missed the Mark Blue Sunday has a lot going for it, warm ambience, a solid bar atmosphere, and food that, when it arrives intact, genuinely tastes good. Unfortunately, my recent visit ended on a sour note that I can't ignore. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken and was enjoying it until I bit down on something sharp. A bone fragment had made its way into my dish and cut my gums. Not a pleasant experience by any stretch. I calmly handed the piece to the bartender and flagged the issue. To their credit, the staff was attentive and immediately asked if I'd like to order something else. I appreciated the gesture and ordered the short rib meal to go. Here's where things went sideways. When the bill arrived, the short rib was on it. Given the circumstances, the implication had been clear, the replacement meal would be taken care of. I asked to speak with the manager (Cio) to clarify. Rather than owning the situation, the manager offered a flat 15% discount. On a meal I ordered because I found a bone in my food that drew blood.I declined the short rib entirely. Look, accidents happen in kitchens. What separates good restaurants from great ones is how they recover. A 15% discount after a guest is injured by your food isn't recovery. It's a miss. The ambience is nice. The food has real potential. But until management understands what genuine hospitality looks like when things go wrong, I'll be taking my appetite elsewhere. read more

I love the avocado as it added a bit of softness to the crunch of the tortilla chip. I would order this again and again. The Dynamite roll was huge, crunchy and flavorful. Throughly disappointed with the Singapore noodles. I ordered and asked for "no shrimp" as my husband does NOT eat shrimp and it was meant to be a take home dish for him. I sent the meal back three times because they kept serving it to me with shrimp. On the final order, there "appeared" to be no shrimp so I accepted it, only to get home and there was shrimp in the dish. I also ordered the classic Blue Sunday burger as a take home entree for mg husband. He said the bun tasted of seafood and he therefore couldn't eat it. That's a wasted $26. Though most of the food is good, service is lacking. If they can't accommodate a request, they should SAY THAT. Bottom line, go for the food and ambiance, NOT the service. If you have seafood allergies or aversions, this is NOT the restaurant for you. read more

Add blue Sunday to your late night spot list. It offers great food and a beautiful ambiance. The menu is mostly Asian cuisine with specialty sushi rolls. The staff are really nice and the food comes out with beautiful presentation. I would definitely come back to try more of their sushi rolls. I enjoyed the classic spicy tuna roll and the speciality empire roll. The empire was delicious, featured shrimp tempura, crab meat, mango, avocado and eel sauce. It was the perfect blend of crunchy savory and sweet. There is plenty of parking. I recommend this place if you are celebrating something special. They are reasonably priced. read more

We also tried the Mexican-style Corn dip 7.5/10, the cheesesteak egg rolls 9/10 , General Tso's chicken 8/10 and fried rice 8/10 .Safe to say we left happy. I've been waiting for a reason to come to Blue Sunday after being recommended by Andrew, but now that I have I'm mad it took me so long to do so. I ADORED my time here. It's dark, chic, and beautifully decorated in black and gold with pops of green from cacti around the restaurant. We went during happy hour and chose the Rock shrimp (the dipping sauce was so good we dipped our salad plating into it), crab bruschetta, and cheesesteak egg rolls (best I've ever had). For drinks, we had the Blue sunday potion, the lime lagoon, and the $6 watermelon long island. They were refreshing and tasty (line lagoon was my favorite), but be warned, they almost had us on the floor, lol. For entrees, we had the seafood pasta and the sunset spaghetti. My partner loved the seafood pasta, and the sunset spaghetti was so, so good. It was a pink sauce with tender beef and chicken that practically melted. I Definitely recommend anything mentioned above, and we will 100% be back (with a DD ;) ). read more

First time trying this location. There was a slight wait before our server came to the table, but once we were attended to, the food came out pretty quickly. It was very packed on a Friday evening for Happy Hour, which was expected. The sushi wasn't the best, but the wings, catfish, fried rice, and egg rolls were all pretty good. This spot is popping. Seems more family oriented than the Bowie location and definitely brighter. You may have a little bit of a wait but it's worth it. The food is good and the drinks are too however I should've stuck with my norm which is a margarita. This time I ordered the their specialty drink, can't remember the name but I uploaded the picture. I don't know what brand of alcohol they used in that drink but it hurt my stomach a few sips in. It made me feel like I had food poison and I wish I did t order it. I ordered the General tso's which was so tasty and had the crisp that I like. I had the honey old bay wings as well, they were good but for some reason I like them better at the Bowie location. I really like this place so I only knocked off one star because I haven't had a drink in a long time that tore my stomach up immediately-which leads me to believe that the cheapest of the cheap liquor was used. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside a great place for large parties or date night. The server (Devin) was really good he had a good attitude and was honest about the menu items which I liked. He also offered some hitters from the bar. The playlist was on point overall good vibes. Since it was our first time and we weren't all that hungry, we just tried a couple of appetizers and the dessert. The cheesesteak egg rolls and the stuff shrimp were really good. Who knew that there was another Blue Sunday Bar&Grill? Well, there is and it's in Laurel!! This one puts the one in Bowie to shame and that's an understatement! Once you walk in you know the owners spared no expense to make you say WOW! Ultra contemporary design from the lighting to the semicircul booth seating next to the oversized bar. You can literally imagine this place being on the top floor of a Vegas resort! The food is just as good as the Bowie location and Happy Hour is 7 days a week. If you come on Sunday, Happy Hour is all day..#Dope! We enjoyed the Rock Shrimp, Crab Brushetta, Volcano Roll and the Shrimp Tempora Roll. All were excellent and the drinks were good and STRONG. So, I was introduced to Blue Sunday Bar & Grill one Saturday evening. Upon entry, I quickly took the opportunity to adore the aesthetic of this place. To me, it was giving a chic, vibrant, yet modern aesthetic. When we arrived, it was a fairly busy/packed evening, however, we were seated within 15 or so minutes. Within a couple of minutes of being seated, our waiter introduced himself and gave us some honest insight on some of the dishes we had interest in, which was greatly appreciated. For our appetizers, we first had the fried catfish, which was fried/breaded perfectly. However, the catfish was lacking the oomph I needed via a little more seasoning. We also had the Louisiana Gumbo, which was flavored very well. For this dish, I really did appreciate the waiter's disclaimer that the gumbo is really good, however, it's not exactly like an actual gumbo made in Louisiana. On to the entrees. Unfortunately, the entrees took a very long time to come out, which was definitely a test of maintaining my composure under hunger. So, by the time our food came out, there was added build up to try/immediately devour our dishes. For my main dish, I ordered the ribeye steak (which was cooked at a medium) with some asparagus. Similar to the fried catfish, I felt that the ribeye also needed more seasoning, however, the sauce that came with this dish added a unique flavor that made the ribeye enjoyable. The asparagus on the other hand were made to my liking. My friend had the General Tso chicken with fried rice which was simply okay. Overall, I had an average experience here. read more

Happy to have Blue Sunday in another location. The interior is nicely decorated and it's spacious. On the bar and lounge side, the sections are first come first served. The manager may come by to ask if you mind sharing, there is ample seating for a small party of maximum 8 to be comfortably seated. The bar could use more TVs and possibly larger screens. For drinks I had the Love Smuggler and Hennessy Peach. My friend tried two cocktails as well. I had the Black Dragon and Spicy Salmon roll. They were tasty. My friend was unsure about what to order and we were given the heads up that the crab cake wasn't a customer favorite. My friend ordered the seafood platter and tried it anyway and it wasn't good. As true Maryland crab cake eaters, you've been warned, don't do it. The texture and taste was just off, I'm not sure what type of batter and filler they use but it's a no. Maybe with time they will improve the recipe but I won't be trying it again. Overall we enjoyed our visit. There's plenty of parking. We were here on a Saturday and I feel like they were still working out some of their operations and communication. Went to blue Sunday on Sunday. They have all day happy hour on Sunday. I feel the price points for some of the options are high though or normal pricing. This place is super cute and definitely a vibe. I do recommend. The food is decent. I had wings, fries and cheese steak egg rolls. The were all decent. My sisters had sushi, wings. Fries, crab dip and drinks. I tasted their food. I was not a big fan of the sushi or crab dip. The service was decent. I don't have anything bad to say. They took good care of us. I had such a lovely time at Blue Sunday in Laurel during happy hour! Their happy hour menu is amazing with $10 cocktails, $5 beer, $7 wine, and so many food specials. I tried the peach fizz to drink and I really enjoyed it, I definitely recommend if you like sweet drinks or prosecco. Their menu is pretty diverse, we tried a few sushi rolls and the mumbo wings. The wings come with 8 pieces and they are crispy with the sweet/tangy mumbo sauce. The only downside of the experience was they seemed a bit short staffed and it took a really long time to get our check, we were ready to leave for at least 20-30 minutes but couldn't find our server. This review is just for carryout! I was in the mood for some food and happen to be in the shopping center near the Blue Sunday restaurant. I ordered the salt and pepper wings and the Louisiana Gumbo to go. The wings were a winner. Everything about them was great, flavor, size and cook. The Gumbo to me wasn't that appetizing. For it to be Louisiana style Gumbo I felt like it missed the mark. The spicy flavor of the broth was a little odd and the gumbo was filled with more onion than anything else. I visited Blue Sunday to see what all the hoopla was about. We arrived shortly after 6pm on a weeknight with no reservations. The ambiance was lively without being loud, with a mixed crowd, and plenty of seating at the bar and in the dining area, with a mix of booths and tables. Happy Hour specials seem to be only on Monday and Tuesday. We ordered: seafood gumbo, and I naturally went for some French fries and Old Bay wings. The drinks were delicious, and our waiter, Devin, was charming and made sure we didn't have to chase him for refills. Finally! I've loved Blue Sunday in Bowie so I couldn't wait for Laurel to open. For a point of reference, they're located in the shopping plaza near Shoppers! They're still in the soft opening phase and they just got their liquor license about a week ago! I can't wait for the grand opening (October 9th). I stopped by this past Saturday for happy hour and sat at the bar. It wasn't too packed at 3:30 but it quickly filled up, and this isn't a small bar! The word must be out! A welcome addition to the main street in Laurel. Looking at the menu, the items were quite pricey, but with the clientele, they are hoping to get it should be no problem. I stopped in for a quick drink and bite before a meeting so I sat in the bar. I ordered the pink fizz, which was only a Bellini and wish that I ordered something else. More creative. The shrimp ceviche was shrimp that had been wonderfully grilled on top of a tomato, red onion and avocado salsa, which was absolutely delicious. Served with warm tortilla chips. I will definitely order this again. This was the first day the bar was open, and some of the staff were still in training, needing to look up how to make certain cocktails. The decor was very modern with decorative carps of bourbon behind the bar. The sushi only happy hour list was mainly cooked Roles yet given the area raw sushi may not be a big sell. read more

Setting: Prince George's county strip plaza with ample parking. For us, it was a rainy night, with traffic from Howard county. We came before the grand opening and I hope that this review helps them work out the kinks. The decor is so gorgeous that initially, we thought that we were under dressed. We weren't. Some may come dressed to the nines and some may come in jeans. We felt welcome and the hostesses were sweet and accommodating. Requesting a booth, we accepted a half booth. The tables were close, close enough to hear the conversation at the table beside us and to apologize for bumping into them. The prices range from reasonable, $20 entrees (based on today's prices) to higher end, $45 entrees. Our waiter did his best. When responding to questions, he shared what he knew and asked when he didn't know. Timeliness was an issue and that may have been out of his control. Our drinks took 20 minutes. Two entrees came about 10 minutes before the third entree even though an alternative was given at the same time the first two were placed. The food was delicious and the portions were big. The noise was a bit loud for dining. Conversations were loud in the room as a result, though the song selections were good. I think that the first location also has comments about the volume, so that may be intentional. I think that many will enjoy this location: the food is good, the decor is fancy enough to splurge for and the wait time should improve as the menu and the staff sync up. read more

I have been to both the Laurel and Bowie locations for Blue Sunday and the Laurel location is the best. The decor is pleasing to the eye and everything is well kept. We tried the Calamari, Lemon Salmon, Blackened Salmon and Empire Sushi roll.. They didn't bring any included sauces or chopsticks out until I asked them to, but I was OK with the service overall. Several dishes tasted underseasoned and lacked the freshness and attention to detail you would expect at this price point. Considering the premium prices on the menu, I expected a much higher level of quality. Overall, Blue Sunday has created a beautiful space, but great décor alone isn't enough to justify the cost. Until the restaurant improves its food quality and customer service, I don't believe it offers good value for the money. I left wishing the dining experience had matched the impressive atmosphere. We made the first mistake of not having a reservation, don't do it, you will have to wait about 45 minutes, but it is Saturday night and we arrived around 5:45pm. They take your phone number and you are notified by text when your table is ready. We were 10th on the list upon arrival, somehow got dropped from the waitlist, but we were seated in less than 45 minutes. They offer $1-2 off regular price menu items for Happy Hour. I ordered a Classic Mojito, their house rum is Recipe 21, they did not have a top shelf rum to replace it, only Bacardi or Myers, Jordan was our server, he is doing the best he can with the knowledge he has. I ordered the Risotto, creamy, consistency almost like soup. Other order was chicken wings and curly fries. I should have ordered that. Shrimp Tempura was delicious. Will I come back, yes.
