We'll have to come back and try this place again on a night where they aren't swamped... We tried Oversea on "R&B Night" and it was an epic fail. When we arrived, there were only a few people there and we were able to get a drink order in right away and they brought it to our table fairly quickly. But then the crown arrived and there were lines 10 people deep just to get an order in. Food (which we didn't order) was a nightmare; there were people's orders behind the bar for over 30 minutes just getting cold because they were too busy to figure out where the people were and no one was coming up to check on their orders. I waited in line for over half an hour just to close my tab. I'd recommend paying with each order... The drinks were not bad - the spirits (which are not made there) are decent, but are primarily mixers. They do sell bottles, but I didn't get any (granted I am a whiskey snob...). DO NOT GO HERE! They are never open! They go through management all of the time. They DO NOT PAY THEIR PERFORMERS! They don't have food, during shows they have food trucks outside even though they have a full working kitchen. The staff is always under trained. The prices are over priced for all of the drinks. Real mixed bag. The food was pretty great. The fries (both truffle and regular) were killer, as were the dumplings. The drink service one the other hand was a mess. As other reviews mention, it doesn't seem like the bar staff has much experience turning out drinks at scale. Prices are also pretty steep. Not sure how fitting the name is when they only had 4 of the tap drinks they literally were making it if it was requested. The orange crush tasted like old oranges or something just stale no flavor. Overall- super cute vibe, yummy drink, reasonable prices, fun events, kind service, and decent food considering most breweries and distilleries around here don't serve much food I went with some friends for an embroidery event with third and Plum which was super fun! The bartenders were all super kind and down to earth. They were knowledgeable and let you sample cocktails before committing. They had draft cocktails, classic, and specialties. I loved the variety and the different price points make it more accessible. I had a draft lemon drop martini and an espresso martini. Both were delicious. My burger hit the spot and the bao buns were good too. The nachos were only okay. I appreciated the pictures they had with their menu and the fact that they had so much food when most breweries and distilleries around here don't. The place was beautiful. Came in for the live jazz music on Friday night. It was my first time coming and it definitely didn't disappoint. I had heard it opened up recently and had been meaning to check it out for a while. It's located in a kind of industrial area off Snowden River Pkwy. There was plenty of parking in the the shared lot. Looked like most of the neighboring businesses operate on normal business hours to after 5 there should be plenty of parking. Inside it's much more spacious that is appears from the outside. They don't have paper menus so you will have to have a cell phone to be able to see what they offer. Surprisingly they actually have food on the menu as well. All of their drinks are made with in house distilled products. They make their own Vodka, Gin, Rum, and Bourbon. I got a flight so I could properly sample their offerings. All where smooth and easy to drink. I have never been a Gin fan but there was remarkably flavorful. I preferred the Bourbon. They do offer the bourbon by the bottle for purchase there as well. I just had some nachos to nibble on while I was there. They don't stay open very late, closing at 10 pm. The upstairs views are great. You can even see into the distillery side up there as well. They have a Poole table, darts, board games, and a Nintendo switch upstairs for your entertainment. All of the staff there were friendly and more than happy to provide information about the distillery and their drinks. Would definitely recommend making a few visits and will be back soon. read more

Cool Bar & Distillery in Columbia. A reel came across my timeline a few months back and I wanted to check it out. My first bit of advice for Oversea is looks can be deceiving. It's in a business park and doesn't look like much from outside. But when you walk in it's actually a nice vibe. You could have a first date here, come to have drinks and a good time with friends, come solo and sing karaoke... like ... wow. My bartender was Eden and she was super nice. She let me know what nights were good to come for different events and explained the space to me. I ordered the Popcorn cocktail and a bag of Fritos. They normally have a food truck there but it's currently down. They do allow meals to be delivered which is nice. Back to the cocktail. I was slightly confused because the cocktail actually taste like popcorn. My brain and tastebuds didn't k ow how to feel at first lol. After the second sip my brain and tastebuds came to an agreement and I liked it. I had dinner reservations and had to head out. But Oversea is on my list currently places to revisit! read more

We came here for a date night hoping to experience great food, drinks and live music. The service was poor. We ordered drinks and food and sat upstairs while we waited for the food. We were specifically told we would have the food brought up to us by way of our food number stick. We finished both drinks and realized it had been 50 minutes and still no food. When we went to investigate, they claimed the system was wonky and they couldn't remember who ordered it. But the told us it would be brought to us and we had a food number on a stick for easy spotting. In short, the vibe just wasn't it. We asked for a refund for the food and left. Social media has a unique way of making a place look different than what it actually is. I'm not saying this place is horrible but it wasn't giving what we thought. We were willing to weather the storm but having not received our food made us want to just leave. If you go, sit at the bar so you can make sure you get your food. We went last Friday night to give it a try as it is pretty brand new. The space is HUGE! I absolutely loved the light sign above the bar; wish I got a picture of it. The bartenders were all super friendly and wanted to answer questions. I got the Pinky Martini and I liked it; felt pretty strong. My husband got a 2 separate whiskey drinks and both were far too sweet for his liking. It was cool watching them make the popcorn drink and it smelt good. I am a gin girly so I went straight for whatever had gin in it. I was wondering why there were no posts of the food so I ordered and posted a few on this page for all to see. I'm such a visual eater. The food menu seemed to have an Asian vibe (with kimchi burgers and dumplings). So...I started with the salt and pepper shrimp. It came with six decently sized shrimp nicely seasoned. It was good but not as flavorful as the salt and pepper shrimp I usually get at Chinese restaurants. The popcorn chicken (which I wrongly assumed was Taiwanese chicken from an Asian menu but was woefully wrong) was as expected from a traditional popcorn chicken - think school cafeteria. I went on a Saturday to see someone I know perform here, and it's such a lovely spot! From what I understand, they only serve drinks, but they have chips? Went today for the vendor event. It was my first time coming to the establishment. The female bartender seemed to have an attitude. There were two customers in front of me and my friend, and when the customer asked if she could have ice in her drink, the bartender rolled her eyes and smirked. Then my friend asked for a drink and asked what the ingredients were and when she told her, my friend changed her mind and ordered an orange crush, and the bartender started smirking and rolled her eyes, then when I went to order my espresso martini. She laughed. I asked her what was funny and she corrected me and how I pronounced the word espresso. This venue has a lot of potential. I went this Friday for their live jazz. The music was awesome. I really enjoyed the band. There is no food service here. They have chips that can be bought at the bar. You are allowed to bring in outside food and there was a food truck that they were partnered with that was parked right outside. I'm not sure if they rotate or if it's there all the time. You have to go up to the bar to order your drinks. The drinks average about $11. The bartenders will bring the drink to you after they make it though. My struggle started when one of the bartenders (short BIPOC female with burgundy hair) refused to serve me. I was standing waiting patiently for acknowledgement when a man came over and stood next to me. She refused to even look in my direction and instead turned to acknowledge the man and began to serve him. I was outdone!! So I stated that I was standing there first and it was wrong for her to serve him before me. She stated that she didn't see me...there is no way that she didn't as when she came over she was standing directly in front of me and had to turn to address him. You know how people act when they are purposely avoiding looking at you....that's exactly what she did.. Luckily, another bartender came up and served me. She was very nice and made a great drink. However, the damage had been done. I tried my best to enjoy my drink and the show, however, her behavior truly disgusted me. My first visit to Oversea over a year ago didn't leave me super wowed but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they had just opened. My usual haunt is closed this week so decided to give Oversea another go with friends. I paid $17 for a Campfire Old Fashioned that looked nothing like the promo pictures - 1/5 full rocks glass (even with ice), rim wasn't coated, and they couldn't toast the marshmallow because the blowtorch wasn't working. Speaking of that ... I waited upwards of 10 minutes for this drink to be ready because no one could get the blowtorch to work. This was earlier in the evening as well, so the bar wasn't slammed with orders. It was mildly frustrating to be waiting on my feet at the bar, watching the staff struggle and ultimately be served an unimpressive drink. My friends said their drinks (one got the mule off of the holiday specials menu) were a bit too sweet for their liking. At the moment there is no food served in house - you can either order from a truck outside or get food delivered. The ambiance here is great and there is plenty of seating, but it is absurdly overpriced for what you get drink-wise and service-wise. read more

This place looked so fun and trendy on instagram, but we were disappointed. Firstly, when we came in there was a super strong smell, almost sour, and it was very overwhelming. We could smell it the whole time we were there. We were greeted and were told to pick a table, but didn't have many other instructions, eventually figuring out that we had to order food online and had to go to the bar to order drinks. The food comes from the food truck outside the distillery, which was fine but nothing special, and we had to go back outside to ask for condiments. Attended on a Friday night with a friend who I wanted to catch up with. Fridays evidently has magicians and loud live jazz music, so while entertaining, I don't recommend a Friday night at this spot for conversational catching up. Had a mule and it was pretty good. Nothing to rave about, but good. I really wanted to like the staff because when I interacted with them, the guy was so sweet. But he was horribly inattentive. Finally on the magic piece- there were two guys there at the bar performing magic after that portion of the night ended and jazz had started. One of them was evidently turned down by Oversea for performing as a magician because they wouldn't pay him(his words). He continued to be a patron there and be very off putting to myself and my friend. The other magician was fine and sweet. It's a big and beautiful space with 2 floors. You can grab a comfy seat at the bar or a plush seat or couch with a table. They also have games available to play! The upstairs has plenty of seating and pool table! My favorite nights are Fridays when they have live jazz music. Great drinks and very reasonably priced. More recently they've had a food truck on site with burgers that are AMAZING. Mind you the ingredients were the same and the glass still wasn't full! All the prices had gone up and our group of four's bill was over $250! This is a great setting with excellent service and nice entertainment. The tv screen is huge, so perfect for a big game night. We had a magician performing who was both entertaining and friendly (see him if you can). There's a nice game area on the upper floor. The cocktails were very good. I had the Popcorn, which had a shiitake component and actually left a popcorn aftertaste (very nice). The mint julep was good, and my wife had the lady lavender and loved it.
