Do NOT order the anything with the fish. This place had lots of awesome reviews... BUT my husband, son, and I ate there and it. was. awful. When you walk in you get this surf vibe hype, but this place is just that. Maybe the cook was out or something but the Mahi Mahi; fish was dry and over cooked. The corn bread was soggy because they used to much glaze, it was only due to the fact that we were literally starving that we ate it. Much to are dismay, because afterwards we got to visit the restroom for a couple hours. Also ordered a turkey sandwich. Just don't do it. It was a mistake. This place doesn't have any menus. They think they are more 'far out and edgy' but the this chalk menu isn't cute when you have a 2 year old and you get to stand there squinting looking at the menu written in colors that blend with the blackboard. Its a hot mess. But HEY if you are interested you can buy yourself a sweet t-shirt. Cuz that looks more inviting than actually eating the food. Just don't go. Mean, if you do, hopefully you don't have to stay in the bathroom the way we did. read more

Starter came out with our entree which was awkward, but friendly staff, excellent service and the food was delightful. Get the brownie desert, it looks a little plain when they set it on the table but it's absolutely amazing. Prices are good, too. Braised beef brisket dinner with roasted potatoes and asparagus was $13. Meatloaf sandwich was less expensive (don't remember) and also great. Dog friendly outside. read more

Came here twice over 4th of July weekend. Dinner on the 4th was outside and the food was delicious. Got surf and turf and wasn't disappointed in the least. The outdoor lighting could use some work, but our server was awesome - really entertaining. Came a couple days later for lunch while we rented a boat. It was nice to dock right there and grab some sandwiches before heading back out. Bottom Line: I was happy with both of my meals and both of the servers we had. The restaurant options on Wrightsville Beach tend to be limited, especially waterside, so we were really happy to find this place. I'm a total foodie so it takes a lot for me to give a place 5 stars, but I definitely recommend this place and will go back the next time I'm in the area. read more

Love the vibe of this place. I got the grits bowl with ham, cheese, onion and egg. My only complaint was the egg. The white wasn't all the way cooked. And I mean raw. While I appreciated the super fast service it was taken down by a raw egg. I couldn't even eat them. The grits were fantastic and next time I will just ask for over medium eggs. Convenient Wilmington area location and seemed like an interesting menu and outdoor seating area. Unfortunately the restaurant has a very odd way to manage guest flow and seating. My boyfriend and I went here on Sunday morning after church because we found it on our way back to campus. I had never heard of it before but I am so glad we went inside. I had the pecan waffles and he had the breakfast egg hashbrown mix. They also gave me a 10% student discount which was very nice. We got our food after about 10 minutes of waiting (it was really crowded). The food was delicious and tasted so fresh. I loved the atmosphere where you ordered then sat down. This is a definite go to place for a quick brunch. read more

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (BLD) You can not go wrong here. from the Hippie Hash to the Mahi Mahi its incredible. The owner is right there working with his employees to deliver the best food and environment. Some things do change which could make a grown man cry ;( but the new stuff is incredible. The Hot Chocolate is one of the best with toasted marshmallows on top. Be sure to get there early or you might miss the Daily special which you will regret guaranteed. read more

Food is clean and tastes fresh. The mahi-mahi and shrimp tacos will not disappoint. My son, reluctant eater, had the braised beef and complemented the taste. The Cubano was delicious. The place gets packed for lunch but service is quick. I have to complement the waiter who rectified our order when it was mixed up without hesitating or complaining. Asked for the kimchee as a side for my cubano sandwich, which was tastey, couldn't have it. Asked for the jalapeno cornbread that was on the menu, told they didn't have that anymore. Had to eat salt and pepper potato chips as my side order, that tasted like they came straight from the grocery store bag. Also asked for a taste of the coconut rice, nope. All of the drinks are in cans and cost $1.50. Got tap water, no refills offered. Couldn't get straws because of their rules. Not a good experience. Probably won't be back. Sorry. read more

Love the food, Love the people...Need I say more. The staff is so friendly, and I have enjoyed everything I have eaten here (and mind you, I have been here a lot so I have tried a little bit of everything!). I started going to Surf House in Carolina Beach when they opened and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the people. When the one on Racine opened that made it a whole lot easier for me to eat there twice as much (because now it is even closer). It is a must try for everyone! I have yet to try their breakfast options, but am looking forward to it. I'm sure they won't let me down because all of their food is wonderful! read more

The service was prompt, but the food was bland and expensive for what you got. The atmosphere was nice and fun. We ordered the cilantro lime salad and the Baja fish tacos. I understand and value that they are trying to make things healthy, but I think it can be done with more flavor. I just can't understand why this was rated one of the best restaurants in Wilmington. Fairly new to Wilmington and had a little trouble finding decent casually priced local restaurants. That's over now!! Really impressed with this spot. Awesome menu. I'll have to revisit quite a few times to sample everything I was interested to try on it. Posting this review to make sure that local and visiting diners know to try out Blue Surf Cafe. The staff is really friendly and welcoming and the moment your order arrives you'll be reassured you've made a great decision. A lot of care is evident in the preparation. 5 Stars. 10/10. Despite being surrounded by car dealerships, the atmosphere inside this restaurant was relaxed and beachy. The service was friendly and the food tasty. I was pleased to find a more creative and interesting menu than you typically find in these parts.
