Monday - Saturday, 11 am - 6:30 PM. Sunday all day! We came in on a Saturday around 1 PM and were seated right away. It was busy, but not crazy packed. Our server William was super nice and very attentive. Checking in on us quite often. We selected all HH items for two of us: 8 oz Hot Sake $5.75 - Perfect pairing with our meal. We had 4 total. Shareables: Calamari $12.75 - It wasn't horrible, but we were expecting it to be tastier. We did like that it included veggies. Ceviche $9.50 - Wow would order this again for sure. So refreshing. Maki Not Raw: Tidal Wave $8.50 - Server recommended and I don't usually go for cooked sushi, but I'm def a fan now. Quite filling too. We could only finish half. Maki Raw: Lion King $8.75 - Server recommended. Pretty good. Pretty saucy with the chili aioli. Roja: $10.75 - My fav roll! So very fresh, flavorful and light. How did I manage not to visit Blue Sushi Sake Grill until now. This sushi grill is located in the Domain shopping center across the street from Urban Outfitters. which I visit fairly often. I met two friends for happy hour at Blue Sushi Sake Grill. Apparently they have happy hour from 11:00 am-6:30 pm Mon-Fri, which is quite the broad range. We had an assortment of dishes including lettuce wraps, Tekka...big eyed tuna, crunchy L.A. and edamame along with cocktails. The sushi was good and satisfying. S.P., our server, was extremely attentive and humorous. He definitely brought joy to our table and frequently visited to ensure our visit was up to our expectations. We came in for lunch and spent the entire meal swatting away fruit flies. After finishing our dishes, we realized we had been seated right next to a fruit fly trap, which was pretty gross. What made it worse was that the restaurant wasn't even half full and there were plenty of empty tables elsewhere. Not sure why we were seated there. Wow what a change from my last time here AND how things are run and atmosphere. We did a girls night out for happy hour and were seated in the enclosed patio area, which from photos is very lovely. It was overly loud in there from the volume of the music it was very hard to carry on a conversation and meet new people. Everything felt so rushed. From being asked to order within 5 minutes of sitting. The food came out super fast as well even after being asked no need to rush it out because we wanted to be there bit and had ordered what we wanted. Well everything came all at once this meaning the temperature of the rolls that were to be warm ended up being cold by the time we got to them. I had such a great experience here, definitely one of my new favorite sushi spots. The food was delicious. The tuna tataki was super fresh and I also had miso soup which I loved. The ceviche was really tasty too. For sushi rolls, my favorites were the Cowgirl and the Lion King both were SO good, I would 100% order them again. The service was amazing. We were a group of 12 people and our waiter handled everything perfectly. Super attentive, friendly and made the whole experience even better. Also, the happy hour is definitely worth it. I love that the daily happy hour is all the way up to 6:30 pm. We came for a early lunch and got some small plates and sushi. The Mango Crab Rangoons ($6.75), Roja Roll ($10.75), and Lion King Roll ($8.75) are all solid! Yellowtail Serrano Sashimi ($11.5) was also good but I'd say go for the sushi for the most bang for you buck. The sushi is not the highest quality but it's for sure delicious and fresh. read more

My kids took me here on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago for a belated Mother's Day celebration because they were both out of town the day of. Went for my wife's birthday on a Sunday when it's all day happy hour. The selection of options is good and gives you a great impression of their menu at decent savings. The service was attentive and helpful and even offered a birthday ice cream treat but when my wife who prefers savory over sweet stressed that she isn't interested they simply removed one of the dishes from the ticket. A great customized offering that really improved our experience. The ambiance is fine, a lot of places today pack as many tables into a space so I'm not sure that's a focus anymore. Wow! Phenomenal sushi. I decided to be vegan for this lunch and I was quite impressed with the food. First of all they have a huge selection of vegetarian/vegan sushi to try from, so it was honestly hard to make a decision on what to try. So we came here for happy hour and a Sunday since they have it all day. They had a good selection for happy hour. The service there was very nice. Our waitress was very sweet and the hostess was quick to see us. The only reason I'm giving this place four stars is because it was mediocre to me. I've had better sushi, other places, and the only reason I say that is because these rolls were tasting very fishy to me and to me good fish does not taste fishy. The crab puffs were ordinary and nothing great. The cucumbers, pine mono I can't say I really did enjoy it since I love that stuff. It just needed a little bit of Ponzo in it. I will say the spicy tuna on top of the crispy. Rice was really yummy. We tried a cocktail, which was really yummy, though you could barely taste the alcohol -- understandable for a $6.75 drink . The sashimi I ordered was delicious, and I'd definitely get it again. I've been to Blue Sushi Sake Grill more times than I can count. Bottom line up top: it's the most affordable way to eat quality, creative sushi with TONS of plant-based options. From the onset, I knew this one would be a compelling catch, boasting a lengthy menu of entirely vegan maki and nigiri that go well beyond the standard vegetable garden. We're talking about tomato ahi tuna, eggplant barbecued eel, seaweed caviar- And those are only mere components that make up the larger rolls. Don't skip over any of the clearly labeled plant-based appetizers, such as the Crispy Brussels Sprouts that could convert a hater. It's not hard to find incredible fried Brussels in this city, with immaculately crisp, almost translucent leaves and tender, buttery interiors, but these take it to the next level. Slathered in zesty, savory, and subtly sweet yuzu-miso sauce, that plate alone would score serious points for a first date. Recommending maki rolls from this fetching lineup is a daunting task, but the good news is that there are no losers here. The Cowgirl roll, which includes pickle tempura, sriracha-fried onion rings, BBQ-flavored soy paper instead of nori, vegan mayo, and tonkatsu sauce, is the overwhelming fan favorite. My personal favorite, however, was the Eden roll, comprised of grilled asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, sweet potato tempura, and topped with creamy edamame hummus. It truly does taste like a little bite of heaven, swaddled in white sesame soy paper. Best of all, you can indulge on a budget during their daily happy hour which stretches from noon to 6pm, which naturally includes a wide selection of carefully crafted mixed drinks. Possible the best service I've had at any restaurant in Austin. It was a busy Friday night and our waitress was working tables throughout the large restaurant. She was always courteous and prompt. We were also waited on by at least 4 other staff as well as visited by the manager. They brought food quickly. Filled our water glasses. Took a minute to ask about our meal and chat. All very authentic and not just being nice to do their job. Really a wonderful dining experience. Oh, and the food was excellent, too. We started with the charred edamame. A really unusual and delicious take on the usual salty version. The topping of garlic, tamari & togarashi is spicy so you may want to get on the side, as we did. The edamame was delicious without it. We had a bunch of rolls. I don't recall all the names but they were all interesting and delicious. I wasn't thrilled with their unagi (eel) nigiri but that was the only minor food blemish. We sampled all six of the mochi flavors. All were lovely and different. The coconut was the star, such a nice, not-too-sweet treat and the coating was kind of doughy. I also really liked the ube. We spent about $200 with a big tip. Totally worth it for the service and food. We really liked Blue Sushi and will return many times. read more

Obsessed with this place. They have a full, intricate vegan sushi menu (in addition to a full selection of fish rolls), which I've now tried about 6 rolls from, and they are all amazing. It's so refreshing to find a sushi place that puts as much effort into their veg food as they do other food. The Prince Roll has eggplant tempura and avocado and is to die for. I usually avoid rolls without avocado, but Blue Sushi's Eden Roll has edamame hummus that makes up for the lack of avo. Reasonable prices, and they get more reasonable during happy hour (which is all day on Sundays, in addition to other times during the week). I also paid an additional fee for priority delivery, meaning it would arrive sooner. There was no explanation, and the delayed cancellation left me scrambling to reorder while wondering whether I could trust the replacement order to arrive. Thankfully, Blue Sushi was beyond accommodating. They immediately put my second order together, and when it arrived, it was absolutely delicious. Their customer service was exceptional, and as someone with celiac disease, I especially appreciate the care they take with dietary needs. The restaurant is huge, and has really cool manga and modern, Japanese-inspired murals and decorations. It definitely seems hip and trendy. However, note their are some unique menu features: * It's really a sushi/sashimi/roll place, so there's no alternatives like ramen or Bento Boxes for adults. * They do have Bento Boxes, but only meant for kids. * They have a massive drink and cocktail menu * If you have folks who dislike raw fish, they do offer limited cooked appetizers and shareable, but don't expect big items like teriyaki, katsu, karaage, etc That being said, our 4yo son loved his salmon bento box and ate most of it. It was a great relief for us since he's such a picky eater, especially when traveling. The salmon was juicy and moist, and its pretty good sized too. As for the other entrees, the Itchy Seabass and Itchy Salmon are both good for cooked nigiri. The hot stone beef was okay, just not super juicy. I myself enjoy nigiri and you can't go wrong with their sushi menu. My wife isn't a huge fan of raw fish, so this restaurant is not ideal for her.
