    Cocktails and bourbon tastes

We had a group of 90 women that Adam customized a special menu for that also was accompanied by a bourbon flight! It was magnificent. Three types of meat and Mac and cheese and vegetables. Delicious. And great service!

The atmosphere here is eclectic maybe to the extreme. It looks like they went to every antique shop in Traverse City and bought them out. The walls are decked out in a little bit of everything. The eclectic goes to the extremes when it comes to the lighting. I don't think there's 2 lights that are the same, except they at least look old and are cool looking. The eclectic works, creating a fun and welcoming space with a sense of history. I ordered the Three Meats Bbq Platter ($30) with Ribs, Pulled Pork, and Bourbon Chipotle Chicken. Served with french fries and coleslaw. The meats were all excellent. The bourbon Chipotle sauce on the chicken was wonderful. The fries were good, but nothing special. The coleslaw was okay. My biggest disappointment was they don't have Bbq baked beans, a bbq place without beans boooo. The person I was with ordered the Brisket sandwich ($18). She stated it was excellent. The service was excellent. Overall a 1 star because of no beans. Lol, just joking. It's a solid 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely, Traverse City is lucky to have such a good bbq restaurant.

Not great unfortunately. We stepped to the hostess stand at 8:14... waited about 5-6 minutes- no hostess. Finally flagged down a waiter or bartender who said she would be there in a minute and perhaps was in the restroom. Waited longer. After seating waited again. Restaurant was not busy- Thursday night. Eventually ordered. Brisket and sides was pretty disappointing- sides were cold. Brisket itself was ok but sauce was not great. Waiter never returned to check on us. We get it- close is 9pm, but man. We arrived at 8:15, and there is no excuse for that quality of food and service. We won't return, and we will continue to search for decent barbecue in Northwest Michigan. :(

it was alright. the food was good, but there wasn't really anything we wanted so we just ordered appetizers. our waitress was very nice. the ambiance was... depressing, to be honest. even the hostess seemed bored. also they serve powerade which is kinda funny

Come by to check it out!

Our review might be slightly biased based upon the circumstances of our visit... Saturday Michigan vs. Michigan State football game. Cold day, good game (even though we don't really cheer for either team), nice people (not too crowded), good service, tasty food, and a decent beer list. Great building, on the site of one of the original taverns in Traverse City, roomy enough for a small crowd but intimate enough for visiting with friends. Highly recommend the corn chowder, salads, homemade chips, and almost any of the sandwiches. We all left full, partially courteous of a generous portion of dessert shared among the three of us. Go check it out for yourself! We will be back in future visits to the area. P.S. the only negative of our visit was that the cookies in the ice cream sandwich were hard and crunchy. In our collective opinion, this dessert would have hit it out of the park had the cookies been warm and chewy.

We are from Texas and so saying the bbq Mac is amazing is saying a lot! The drinks are also delicious

We had high hopes for this bbq joint in Traverse City but weren't blown away. The hubs and I came in on a Monday evening after traveling to town and ordered the macaroni and cheese entree and Big Squealer (pulled pork) sandwich with apple slaw added on. Nothing was worth writing home about besides the delicious bbq sauce and bbq kettle chips. The mac and cheese was bland - though, props for using cavatappi noodles, those were cool! For the price ($13 for mac and cheese and $11 for the sandwich) we wished it was more satisfying. Love that they serve local Michigan beers!

It came with mashed potatoes and a cucumber corn medley. They both were very good. North Peak Brewing makes their own Root Beer. Honestly that why I chose to come here. Thankfully the Root Beer was excellent. The service was friendly, but not very efficient. I think they are short staffed because the bar tender was also my waiter and he was busy bartendering! Overall I still rate this a 5 star review. The Wings, Pork Chop, and Root Beer were all excellent and I would return for any of them. So yes I would Return.

When you come in, you are immediately and pleasantly assaulted by their dessert display case so feast your eyes and meanwhile, plan to save some room in your belly because trust me, you'll want some of their dessert. As a result, I ordered a salad, the up north cobb which was good and moderately filling and my husband had the special which was a chicken salad sandwich served with chips. We both had a nice lighter lunch followed by some delicious desserts. Generally, I order dessert and my husband eats what I cannot but this time, he orders his own. I had the cherry crumble and he had the sticky toffee pudding. Their dessert definitely satisfies the sweet tooth craving. So good and so much food! Service was fine. We ended up with the bartender as our waitress who had to do both roles during a busy time. She was a bit flustered but was generally pleasant whenever she came to the table to get our order and check on us. I only wish we were able to come here for dinner but lunch definitely did not disappoint and the dessert was epic!

I'm so glad we did because this place is popular and folks calling in for a reservation got turned away! We did an 8:30 pm dinner on a Sunday and it was still plenty busy. My fellow companions split the banh mi fries and said they were really good. I ordered the pork ribeye and it was just as fantastic as our server Autumn said it would be / thank you for the recommendation! Other things ordered were the tomato swiss soup, Caesar salad and chicken confit, all very good. Only food hiccup was the burrata ravioli which my friend said did not really taste like burrata and the beet pasta sauce was thin and lacking flavor. It also didn't coat the ravioli at all. It seems like the non pasta dishes were the better options! If I was in Traverse City again, I'd be back!

I typically don't like beer, but I love fruit flavors. As an appetizer, we got the red pepper hummus and it was meh--I didn't really like it. It was thick and had the texture of cold refried beans and instead of pita, it was served with tortilla chips that tasted like Tostitos brand. For my flatbread pizza, I chose the Wolverine which was topped with pineapple, pepperoni, jalapeños. I've never had pineapple on pizza so I can't really be a good judge, but it was alright. I liked how thin the crust was. For dessert, we got the mini ice cream bars as recommended by the woman sitting near us. They're Ice Box Brand Ice Cream Bars by a Michigan-based company. They sell two sizes: regular and mini. I chose a mini toffee crunch and it was the perfect size. It was really good. I'd love to just buy these ice cream bars to have at home!!

The halibut was very well seasoned and perfectly cooked, and the risotto was a great accompaniment. My fried perch was, as expected, not as good as the halibut, but still quite above average. The prices were higher than a "regular" sit down, but I felt it was a good value compared to a place like Artisan at Delamar or the restaurants at Grand Traverse Resort (we paid about $85 + tip for the halibut, perch, 1 lobster bisque, and a soda) The location is certainly one of the main draws here, as the restaurant is located right on the water, with a great view of the west bay. We were very happy to get a table with a good view of the water, but it seems like the vast majority of tables also have a good view, aside from the bar seating. The decoration and furniture was tasteful and cute -- not quite fancy, white tablecloth vibes, but much more elevated than your average taxidermy-infested northern Michigan dinner spot (ahem, Nonna Lisa's in Mackinaw...) The service was one thing we encountered that I felt was less than completely perfect. Strangely, it seemed like our waiter was a bit overwhelmed or something, despite the moderate crowd, and forgot to bring our soup until about 2 or 3 minutes before the entree came out, and then did not bring the ciabatta bread until after the entree. We also did not get our Coke until after the entrees came out, which I thought was a bit weird for a place as nice as this. But, I know things like that tend to happen in food service, so I don't hold it against them. It was also nice that the manager came to chat with us about TC and our hometown. Overall, we loved this place, and my girlfriend is begging me to come back. We would love to make this place a tradition!
