We love Traverse City and visit several times a year. After looking at the online menu we were excited to try this place out. Uggh, no. What a mistake. Horrible food, mediocre service, so disappointing. Their chicken with "roasted" veggies were so raw the carrots were impossible to bite through, anyone wanting BBQ don't waste your $$ with this reheated, rubbery nightmare. Manager deliberately skipped our table while doing his walkabout the restaurant. Yup, he sensed it. So many better restaurants in TC, heck Taco Bell would have been a better experience. Been here twice now, and have had nothing to even remotely complain over on either trip. First off, the food is phenomenal. Good, down to earth BBQ. Meats seasoned and cooked perfectly. Great portion sizes for the prices, and the kitchen is always fast with orders. Service has also been extremely pleasant on both visits. But for a place that has 12 craft beers on tap you should really have a list available to the public and have the alcohol content on that list. Came in looking for food and a beer and I guess I ordered one of the strongest beer on the menu. We both liked them a lot and the side portion was pretty hearty so I can only imagine how big the entrée version is. I will say the server was less than impressive. He was more interested in yucking it up with the guys sitting at the bar (this was off peak, mid-day) than serving the 2 tables he had with another one arriving when we left. He used the same lines on all of us from the greeting to how he delivered the food to leaving the bill. What wasn't good. OMGness. A group of about 20 that was up here for a work conference and the food and the service was outstanding. Loved the fried pickles, and the twisted dog bread sticks. The spinach artichoke dip was good, it had a lot of cream cheese in it and almost overpowered the dish. We did ask about the pork rinds and they were out at 7pm on a Saturday night. I had the Tractor Pull pie, BBQ pulled pork pizza. Very good. Pork just fell apart and the BBQ had a really good flavor. Overall excellent. Absolutely the greatest bbq place I have ever been to. I got the smoked half chicken, Perfectly tender and full of flavor, fries were absolutely amazing. My girlfriend got the pulled pork Mac and cheese and she loved it. Paired with an unsweetened tea, the chicken was phenomenal. I even kept talking to the waitress about how amazing my meal was, and she was definitely a good example of great customer service. Definitely becoming a regular spot for me. Pork, Bacon, Cheese....the works on this burger. Service was exceptional. The beer selection is fantastic. This is my new favorite restaurant in Traverse City. I went with a group so I was able to sample the raspberry chicken salad. It was really good. The Cowboy Reuben is made with beef brisket. It really has amazing mix of flavors. After dinner we went to the bar for drinks and the bartender was really cool. We were able to sample another beer from the beer list. I am definitely going back! read more

We came in with a party of eleven people (7 kids 4 adults) a half an hour before they closed the kitchen and they were attentive, quick and didn't give us any problem at all for being so close to closing. Staff was outstanding, drinks were good food was okay. I'd give them a bit of a pass being that it was the end of the night. Wasn't spectacular food, but was a worth the $$. Yo, The Fish and Chips here is legit! Me and my homie BK stopped in to meet a group of people who had a rehearsal dinner here and we are glad we did. We stopped in after walking around for 5 and a half miles according to BK's Fitbit and all that movement made us really hungry. We made a solid choice to eat here. During our journey, I stumbled upon an Irish bar that smelled like Fish and Chips and instantly I had that craving. Beer prices were kinda pricey and they had a weird policy where if you order a beer, they take your debit card away to ensure you don't run off, which is strange because they don't do it with people who are ordering just food. (You'll think that it would be better to take that card from customers who order $20 plates instead of $5 beers but to each their own) - Although, I did come in looking like a gangsta wearing a Detroit Lions jersey and sort of baggy pants and Adidas shoes and I am darker than most Traverse City people, lol. Anywho, besides the uncomfortable feeling of being away from my card while I eat dinner (I've never had this happen), I must say that the staff was helpful. They split up the bill with no problems and even gave me an extra tartar sauce. I thought the greeters were super-nice, as the waitstaff. Traverse City is full of nice people, this place included. The food - Me and my buddy both got the Fish and Chips The fish was flawless. It was a tasty whitefish which tasted like it was caught the very same day. It was juicy and had skin on it, which was delicious. It wasn't greasy nor frozen, just really fresh. The fries were yummy, perfect chip fries with the waves in them. The coleslaw was cool slaw. Very refreshing. The Tartar sauce was the VIP! Well, the fish was, but the sauce was absolutely perfect; I asked for double.My fish didn't need it, it was perfectly cooked and flavorful; I used the sauce as a dipper for my fries. I give my meal five out of five stars and the kind waitstaff five out of five. I just thought their beer policy was weird and I spent the entire night worrying about my information being sold on the dark web. Am I being paranoid? Yeah, but I have never been to a place with such a strange policy so I was kinda tweaking about that. I'm probably guessing it was a misunderstanding, maybe they thought we just wanted to go in and have drinks only, but yeah, it was kinda weird nonetheless as we both came in looking to have a meal the size of New England. I've read lots of low-star reviews of this place, but I've been several times now and haven't had a complaint yet. We've had their brisket (smoky, juicy), pulled pork (flavorful and perfect with their sauce), sliders (I don't know what sauce they put on those things, but I want a jar), mac and cheese (very creamy both times, not dry or gummy or light on the cheese), and the creamed corn (completely fresh-made, not the slop you get in a can). Everything's been really great so far. The servers have also been friendly and accommodating. I feel for diners who've had bad experiences. Maybe we're just lucky. If so, I hope that luck continues; we'll keep patronizing Blue Tractor as long as it does! read more

Overall, the Blue Tractor was a nice stop during our stay in TC. Waiting for our table, we were able to stroll down and visit the statue of Perry Hannah and see his home. The dinner was very good. However, the brisket was not the best we have eaten. It was thick and chewy. The pulled pork was very good, and the chicken and waffles was also a thumbs up. There was NO herb crumbs to be found on top as advertised. All that for a mere$11.95!!! The restaurant is also disappointing as there is no blue tractor.
