I was SO impressed by Blue Whale Sprinkler Service. Levi, Kang, and their exceptionally capable team took on a complicated irrigation repair that required far more than simply replacing a few sprinkler heads. Our system had been poorly designed and installed by a previous contractor, with a boggling number of buried pipes and connections to perforated driplines. One severely overtaxed line ran beneath a driveway and concrete wall and across challenging terrain, making its routing extremely difficult to decipher. Fortunately, I had saved some photos from the original landscape installation. Kang carefully worked through that cache of photos, identifying where pipes emerged and reconstructing how the system had been put together so the team could design something better. They are truly excellent problem-solvers. One experience particularly showed me how committed they were to getting the job right. Based partly on my suggestion, they initially excavated a location for the new valve box at the lower end of the yard, where another box already existed. Once they better understood the system, however, Kang realized there might not be enough water pressure to feed the new segments back uphill from that location. He checked in with me, explained the issue clearly, and said they were willing to proceed as planned--but strongly recommended relocating the box so the new system would work properly. They filled in the hole they had already dug, excavated a new valve box near the backflow preventer at the front of the yard, and installed approximately 150 feet of additional control wiring, all without increasing the price. They did this because they wanted the finished system to be right. That level of integrity is rare. Levi and his team were also wonderfully flexible about helping me find a practical scope of work. Their initial proposal addressed more of the system, but we worked together to prioritize the most critical repairs while allowing me to handle a few projects I felt comfortable taking on myself, including installing a new controller and completing some wiring. They even installed an extra valve for a future line and left me with parts so I can make that connection when I'm ready. I never felt pressured; I felt supported in making sensible decisions for both the system and my budget. Over one weekend, the team divided the overtaxed line into four manageable zones, installed new valves and lines, and rebuilt the section where excessive water had become a serious threat to our vine maple. They worked incredibly hard, communicated thoughtfully, and approached every challenge with skill and care. I could not recommend Blue Whale Sprinkler Service more highly. I have a 7 station residential sprinkling system. Two of the stations were not operational and I had low water pressure at the remaining five. I called and left a message at Blue Whale Sprinkling Service based on the reviews I had read. I was surprised when Levi called me back within the hour. Summer is a busy time for irrigation repairs. Levi said he would be out the next day. Levi arrived on time and adjusted my pressure contol valve and backflow valve. He made some other adjustments to the control valves on stations 5 and 7. He found a broken wire on station 7 and ran a temporary wire to activate the station. The pressure problem was related to the backflow valve. The flow adjusting handles were broken and reducing the water pressure. When Levi was done, the pressure was better and all stations were functional. I was very pleased with his knowledge and expertise. I made an appointment to get the faulty backflow valve replaced. Levi and one of his team members arrived the following week and replaced the valve, the valve box, fine tuned my water pressure, and finished running a permanent wire to the control valve for station 7. Levi also replaced a faulty sprinkler head before he left. My 30 year old system performs better now than when it was new. Levi helped us activate our sprinkler system manually after last winter's winterization. Somehow, our sprinkler system's timer display was broken. He came back with the brand new control. During his testing, he found one of the zones was not working by using the sprinkler's control. He quickly did a diagnostic review and found one of the parts was not working. He came back again to replace the broken parts and did a test again. All zones are working now. He was super knowledgeable about our sprinkler system and charged reasonable service fees.
