Visited with a friend. The menu is large, and comprehensive. So many choices. The prices are fair for what you get. It was busy - even on a Thursday morning. The omelet had a bit too much cheese for my liking, and was a little greasy; but the pancakes were good. Walked in here at lunchtime. It was packed. They serve a lot of different comfort food. It was very inexpensive. I had the stuffed pepper with a baked potato. Everything was hot and very good. I got the senior portions as I saw some plates with way too much food. The staff was very friendly. This place is much better than going fast food. I sat at the counter and my only complaint was that the bus tubs are kept near the counter and when they bus the tables they bang the plates around very loudly. read more

Just returned from spending a week in Wausau for a business trip. The group I visited recommended the pie. Went there for lunch, I felt like I was at the Whistle Stop, very nostalgic. Friendly staff like Mel's Diner..lol I ordered the Tuna Melt and I must say, that was one of the best Tuna Melts that I had. Followed up with a pie, the Caramel Pecan Cheesecake Pie. I actually enjoy this places breakfast; it has a little bit of the mom-and-pop feel. BUT, every time I go in there (as a party of 1) I am blatantly ignored by the waitresses; the busser is great, provides coffee and water immediately but not the waitresses. I clocked the last time I went in to see if I was being over dramatic-- it took the waitress 11 minutes to greet me. I watched her circle the dining room giving people coffee then shoot the breeze with another waitress. When she finally approached the table, and I quote, "know what you want- great." Takes menu, walks away. I'm sorry but now I'm suppose to tip you for that fantastic service? Don't worry, I did because I didn't want to be a jerk. This was not the first time either. Similar events took place at least a half dozen other times. It took me a while to learn my lesson. But the last time was the last time. Never again. read more

Blue Willow was bought by the same owner as Tri City. The menu is pretty much the same as Tri City, maybe a little different. There's not much else to say in adition to what I already wrote about Tri-City. I come to this location now instead of Tri City only because it is closer to my house. Other then that, the food, service, and prices are all great and what you would expect from a family restaraunt with diner type food. It's a great place to take the family and I would definately recommend it. Oh, and they have great cheese curds! read more

Was here for the first time with my fiancé and we loved it. We had nothing but good things to say to each other about the food. I had the St. Patrick's day special and they really got it right and it tasted so good. So much flavor! My fiancé had the chicken ranch wrap and he said it was the best wrap he's ever had. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and they were at our side with coffee the moment we sat down. The prices were good too even speaking on a college student budget. The Blue Willow Cafe is a wonderful little restaurant in Wausau. Now I don't mean little like super small, I just mean that they give a small town feel with the great cooking and nicely decorated indoors. The service is wonderful, and although it is very popular, we usually get seated rather quickly. Great for a nice after church brunch or a Saturday morning family time. Overall the eggs and pancakes are great, and you get a good amount of food per order. Can't recommend it enough, stop but for a delicious breakfast read more

My wife and I stopped for breakfast today. 10min. after seated, I had to go up front to get someone to bring a menu. Another 7min. before the waitress shows... almost 15min later and by now I have drunk most of a pot of coffee, the food arrives. Eggs OE were overcooked, the bacon was overcooked (better to use as bacon bits), the sausage links were not reheated after the 1st time they were cooked, but the big surprise was 1 bite out of the hashbrowns! They actually tasted as if the took grease from the deep fryer and used it to fry them in. ( 1 1/2 hours later, I still taste the grease in my mouth from the fryer) 2 plates of food.. more than1/2 of it all went back to the kitchen.... and nobody cared the food was bad.. or we couldn't eat it.. This is one of my favorite places to go. Everything is fresh and clean. We stopped in for soup and a sandwitch, the best chicken noodle ever. Our server jenifer was just a delite, she is vary friendly great attitude and really on the ball. I for one never had bad sevice here. The breakfast is awsome always fresh veggies, i love that. I have gone their several times. I like that they are like a Mel diner, the only BIG thing the owner needs to do is rethink his menu(or how its made) because they serve a lot of frozen/canned items. I had a chicken sandwich and it was good but it was paper thin, the bun was bigger than the chicken patty. And yes you do get a lot for the low price which helps the regulars that come. Yes they have been awarded the best breakfast place by our city pages but if the food doesn't get a little more fresh (by scratch) eventually the place will fade, and i don't wish that for any business. Otherwise if you enjoy comfort food and want reasonable prices (a lot of food you can always take home) they are a good place to go. I will keep going back at times to see if things ever change and for some things i like. read more

I just wanted to mention that the owner is very unfriendly and at times downright rude. Breakfast was blah so we will come only for lunch.

No one will walk away from this place hungry, and its cheap too. The food is a bit on the oily side. But portions are king here. It seems like its the kind of place that is always full and noisy so it's a great place to take young children. Lots of windows and booths here. Our server was friendly. The bill for two people with coffee, tons of food, and a tip came in for $20. We will stop again. read more

My family stoped by for dinner. For the vast majority it was good. We had 5 different meals. The kids had Mac and cheese and a grilled cheese sandwich. They were (good) however we where hopping for a kids meal that included fish, sadly there was none. Then we had a 1/2 broasted chicken, WOW IT WAS GREAT! There was a shrimp basket $9.99 what a deal. Lastly there was a 2pc cod dinner that was great as well. If only we could have had some sort of kids fish meal I would have given 5 stars. I used to enjoy coming here for breakfast. The only complaint I have is that they don't clean their fryer. If you order fries, they will taste like fish from the night before. I'm very disappointed for this reason. I've found other diners that have more respect for their customers. read more

Pretty good. Really solid chili and hamburger. Fish and veggies left much room for improvement, as did the fact that ten minutes before "closing time" they were vacuuming all around us while we were trying to dine. Prices were reasonable and the coffee and pies are excellent. Seemed clean. If they would learn better host manners, and not serve ore-ida veggies, they would get above average. read more

doesn't look like much when just looking at it from the outside it mostly looks like an old diner but when you walk in the amazing vibes you get will never leave the food there looks very and normal but when you take a bite out of it, oh when you take a bite of their food it cold very much take you back to the amazing food that you mother and father made for you when you were a kid. I prefer the breakfast side because I love eggs and if you are smart usually the breakfast side has omelets and i love omelets, by far the best drink is the strawberry lemonade but if you don't like lemonade then you get your normal soda or milk, and or coffee, and or juice. enjoy the food and don't forget to give them a review. read more
