I had a facial (+brightening peel) and lash tinting with Ana. I have normal skin with some clogged pores and acne scares. Pros: -Ana is incredibly warm and welcoming. She strikes the perfect balance between letting you know what she's doing and not talking so much you can't relax. -She didn't try to sell me a single product. She recommended retinol and suggested I get it from a derm (because it's cheaper). -The day I left and day after, my skin was glowing. It felt so smooth and great. -The cost. There is no way around it: this spa is the best bang for your buck in town. I feel like DC facial prices are incredibly inflated; this was perfectly reasonable. Cons: -I had the brightening peel right before an incredibly cold streak. My chin and around my nose are flaking and uncomfortably dry. Usually my skin looks its best post-facial around the 4 day mark, but I'm still dealing with dryness. I do not know if this is a side effect of the peel, or just the weather. All in all, I will definitely be back and highly recommend Ana. read more

This is one of the better massages I've had in DC. I got a 75 minute signature massage - medium pressure just for relaxation purposes. Well, it worked. Completely fell asleep which is what I was hoping for, and felt great after the fact. Carlos has magic hands. The room is the perfect temperature - warm and cozy - and it's super clean and smells great to boot. It's a really beautiful and relaxing space. The only thing I didn't love is that I had a 7pm appointment and we didn't start until 7:15ish. I don't mind waiting, but the receptionist did not apologize or say anything to let me know that the masseuse would be ready soon, etc, so I was just sitting there for awhile not knowing when exactly everything would get started. Good massage, not so good ambiance. For the price, I expected this to be an upscale experience, however this spa is not different from others that I have attended with massages under $100 per person. I booked a couples massage for what I was hoping to be a romantic experience for my fiancés birthday. Things started out well, however we were able to hear very loud music either from a nearby apartment, restaurant, or business below the spa, completely interrupting the relaxed environment. On top of that, one of the masseuses phones kept going off with text or email notifications (not a vibrate, but an alert), and he had a runny nose and was sniffling loudly for the duration of the massage. While the massage itself was fine, I expected much more out of the ambiance and experience. Will not be returning. read more

One of the luxuries of life is getting a massage and I was overdue for one. In the time of covid, getting a service like this can be a little unnerving but I felt pretty comfortable here. Prior to my appointment I had to complete a form online to ensure I was not a health risk to the staff. The day of my appointment, I found metered street parking close by and arrived at the spa. I was greeted by the front desk staff and offered a beverage and told where the restroom was, if needed. I was then called back to my room and spoke with the massage therapist about any areas to focus on and what to do next. The next hour was pretty good. Bluebell Spa is a great place to relax and recovery from a stressful day. The location is in an area that you wouldn't expect to have a posh and warm place to relax. The front desk worker is always pleasant and her voice is calming. I think it is funny that you wait on a church pew, but hey it could be worst. The therapist was extremely professional and asked questions about my comfort level, which is important. The therapist applied the right about of pressure and offered advice on how to stretch to loosen up my scapula and the muscles near by. I will be back again for a massage. Went here based on the reviews. I only get a massage about every 3-5 months, but was really needing a good one after the wear and tear I have put on my body from going to the gym and sitting in a chair all day, every day. I have gotten massages at high end places all the way down to massage schools for the cheapest price. The quality always seems to be all over the place and the price usually has little to do with how good the massage will be. I would say it is based more on expectations going in and finding the right therapist to meet your needs. I went with bluebell and was quite pleased with the overall experience. The price was reasonable and considerably less than many of the spas in the DC/Bethesda/Georgetown area. The first time visit discount was also nice. The spa was on the second floor facing a busy street. I was worried that the sounds of traffic would ruin the experience, but I honestly did not hear anything from outside while in the massage room. The waiting room was average, nothing special...a seating area, a water cooler, and a front desk. The actual room was roomy (used for couples massages). The massage table was probably the most comfortable I have laid on. I prefer a female, but went with Carlos because he seemed like the favorite everywhere online. He did the deep tissue massage, followed my preferences to the T. Perfect amount of pressure. He did a great job. I am always surprised how different two really good massages can be, but sometimes different modalities, use of fingers, palms, elbows, etc, can make a difference. Going to go back for a couples massage in May I think. :-) read more

During my week off work, I knew I wanted to treat myself to a self-care week, doing the things that make we happy which included getting a massage. I came across Bluebell about a year ago but never made an appointment. To my surprise, this summer they have a summer special which is $97 for a 60 minute, full body massage. Prior to arriving, I completed an online form, which asked my personal information and areas to focus on during my massage. Please note, half your service cost is due at the time of booking. When I arrived, I was greeted by a nice employee at the front desk, she then handed me off to my masseuse. My masseuse was Marion and she did an amazing job, I did have to ask for the lights to be dimmed but other than that everything was great. The hour went by so fast. The only thing I didn't like about Bluebell is the location. It's located on 14th street very busy and if you're not familiar with DC, you would've been stressed trying to find parking. I'm not going to completely count Bluebell out because of the location, just something to keep in mind. read more

I have been going to Blue Bell since it opened and have always had very good experiences. My regular therapist Carlos was booked so I tried Yordanos whom I really enjoyed, she has a lovely calm energy and is very in tune with how I was reacting on the table. She checked in about my pressure and comfort. I told her midway through I had a slight headache and she fixed it with a neck, face, forehead massage supporting my neck on warm towels. She gave me a restorative and relaxing massage which was what I went in for and I still feel great hours later. read more

He asked a bunch of questions in the beginning so he could better tailor my massage to any issues I was having and he seamlessly incorporated that into the overall treatment. Overall, the space and treatment was professional and relaxing. Located close to where I live in Columbia Heights, I will definitely be going back. Two reasons for the four star rating as opposed to five: (1) I had my appointment around noon on a Saturday and I showed up roughly 15 mins early, but for some reason Carlos seemed really rushed and didn't do much to set me at ease; and (2) I have been to much more lux spas (as gifts, I promise!) and that's simply the standard I'm judging by. She had Ms. Marion and said that she was amazing. She adjusted pressure as necessary without quitting before getting the knots out. Ms. Marion actually put her to sleep...and I mean snoring! I had Mike. Mike was a wizard. I told him that I do Crossfit 5X per week and also worked an intense job. He knew that meant I could take pressure and he gave me just that. He walked on my back and stretched me out, getting out stubborn knots in random spots and angles. Felt like a really good and necessary workout.
