We came before the Nationals game last Friday night. There were definitely more Cubs fans than Nationals fans there and it wasn't too crowded. They have outdoor patio/Biergarten seating as well bar area a table seating inside. Since it was hot outside we sat at an indoor table and it seemed pretty COVID safe. For the beer they had over a dozen to choose from and we shared 9 tasters. All the beers were wonderful and the most impressive were the two stouts Lifting Shadows and Favorite Things (5.0/5.0). Our next top ranked, were the fruit beers Crush-A-Lot and Future Sound and New England IPA Lost Weekend (4.9) followed. Almost as good were the lambic fruit Built By Pictures and the Hefeweizen Pattern Skies (4.8). We also had the English strong ale Masquerade (4.7) and New England IPA Different Scenery (4.4). Quite impressive for a brewery and it's almost as good as the new Other Half. For food we shared the Gazpacho and the Shawarma Roll with the salad. My fiancé wanted the Shawarma roll but I was nervous due to another reviewer being disappointed. We were very impressed with both selections and the Shawarma Roll seemed like a lobster roll (we don't eat lobster but seen what it looks like) with shawarma lamb instead. The food and beer were filling enough we were not hungry at the game. The service was good and fast. I know some reviewers don't like prepaying and tipping via the QR code but it worked well for us so we could head right to the game. We definitely plan to return. read more

My husband and I stopped here for lunch while visiting DC. We sat outside on an incredibly beautiful day. Looked like all the tables outside are hightop so something to keep in mind. Nice brewery with some good food options. We opted to sit outside. They have the QR code for you to scan to get the menu and service. We ordered the fresh baked pita bread with the feta cheese dip and tater tots. The bread was amazing and the dip was a nice compliment. The tater tots are more like deeply fried big cubes of tater tots. One nice feature was that you could request service thru their website. The server comes right away to clear away plates, get water, etc. Unfortunately the outdoor seating is swarmed with mosquitoes. We did see a mouse as well. Was in the area on a Saturday about 5pm looks for a no fuss kind of meal so we stopped in for a few cocktails and what we hoped would be quick bite. Without a reservation, we had the open of sitting in the bar area or upstairs. The bar looked pretty full, so we opted for a hightop on the 2nd floor. Upon sitting down we were prompted to order from a QR code on the table. Our table was super wobbly so I asked to be moved and rather than moving us, the switched out the high top for another so we didn't have to relocate. We ordered the calamari, buffalo wings, and the big train burger. Everything was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. My biggest gripe is that when you order via the QR code, you don't actually get full service. We couldn't get water refills and we had to flag someone down to get a to-go box at the end of the meal. We came on a gloomy Sunday and decided to sit outside. The manager came over with waters and informed us that they hadn't prepared for outside seating but that our server would be with us shortly. When our server, Trey, came to our table he was so friendly and nice. He did not seem disheveled or bothered to be having to go from inside to outside. A few more tables sat outside and he took care of all of them and remained friendly and prompt with everything! We got the pretzel, some beers, and chicken sandwich, everything was delicious. The brews were mostly the same for their full pours but they were different ounces for their "pours". Bluejacket was a fun experience. Located in Navy Yard Bluejacket is a nice escape from DC within DC. The space is large with ample seating. The beers are unique and have interesting names. The menu consisted of food you might typically find at a bar or brewery (sandwiches, burgers, fries, etc.). In terms of food quality, I would say that it was average. There was nothing super special about the food and also nothing particularly bad about the food. The tater tots were one thing that did stand out due to the shape and consistency, they were cubed instead of the typical cylinder shape, and they were soft rather than crunchy. This is a nice place if you want to go if you want to grab a drink with some friends and have a nice casual time. read more

I had trouble rating this place. 1. Great area/location and such a fun atmosphere. Navy yard is a fun and young area right by the water. Not to mention Nats stadium is walking distance so lots to do. 2. Some of the best tater tots out there. I think they're whipped/mashed potatoes fried into blocks. So good. 3. I hate ordering on a phone. Yet the service was still very good 4. I did not like the fish and chips. It was a very expensive small piece of fish. And I am pretty sure the latter wasn't fully fried. Everyone was really nice, but it's a bit hard to flag down a waiter to ask questions about the menu. You're asked to use a QR code to order food/drinks, including to ask a server to come over and help answer any questions you may have. Food was ok but the salad dressing had zero taste to it. Overall, the atmosphere is really fun an welcoming, and whomever decides the music really has some 2000's nostalgia. Our meals were ok, not bad at all, but not amazing. My partner got the fish and chips and it definitely needed more acidity. I got the falafel sandwich which needed more seasoning and flavor. Just know that service here is a bit different. I tried this place for the first time a couple weeks ago and the food was great. Unfortunately I brought my dad here when he was in town and we had to watch two mice run around our feet for half of the meal. When we told two different servers they both said it was an ongoing issue and one even described it as "normal". I don't know what's more disturbing: the actual mice running around or the nonchalant attitude of the servers. Quite frankly, it's just gross. I hesitated to write this review, but I'm hoping it prompts management to get serious about mice inside their establishment. It was my first time visiting this establishment and for a Tuesday evening, it was pretty busy all around. I was greeted by the host, Tracy, and she was just very friendly and polite. We got to start the potato skins and baked feta dip. Both were good potato skins were nice and crispy well seasoned. Feta dip is served with a giant piece of naan bread. While good is kind of difficult to manage cause it is served on a small plate. For the main course the two of us got the falafel burger and one of got the fish and chips. The falafel burger has great flavor. Is served pickled red onions, cucumber, and yogurt sauce. Was very good the toppings give it fresh taste. Also, it balances to more savory flavors of falafel. The brewery has great beers and you cant go wrong any selection all the beers I tried were good. Also, for a brewery the bourbon selection was pretty solid and priced very well. We hosted my graduation party at Blue Jacket in the Mezzanine and it was amazing! The management was super accommodating with what we wanted. My family and friends had a BLAST. The star of the show was our server, Haley. My guests are still raving about her! I honestly don't know how this place only has 3.5 stars. Their food is solid, their beers are out of this world, and I've never had any issues with service. Having lived in the state that pioneered the style (VT), I can confidently say that there is no better place to find a New England style IPA in DC. But, if IPAs aren't your thing, they have plenty of other beer styles and tasty cocktails, all at a reasonable price. Pro tip: get the giant pretzel and feta dip. read more

I wish I could give a 2.5 rating- although they have a nice selection of beers and a pleasing ambiance, the service and food portions were not the best. The portions were slightly small but wasn't too much of a disappointment since the food tasted amazing. The low rating comes from the service; we were only checked on once during our time here, when we wanted to try different beers but were not given attention from our waiter. Oh Bluejacket, came for the fries and left quickly because of the fries. My sister and I are both addicted to fries and love trying them at different spots. I ordered the regular and she got the sweet potato which came with this honey maple aïoli. We also got a side Caesar salad and brussels sprouts.. don't ask why I guess for "balance". We were disappointed with both fries, the aïoli, everything. For the regular fries I could taste that the grease hadn't been changed all day..maybe even in a couple days. Many of the pieces were burnt for the sweet potato fries, so it was a bit of a struggle bus. It wasn't even packed but the service was awfully slow and you couldn't get a servers attention to save your life. So all in all, I'd strictly say come here only if you happen to be in the area and want to watch a game or grab drinks. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice. I'd like to say I'd come back again to try other food but if your fries are subpar that's very telling... There are better options in the area in my opinion. ------ I never expect much from a sports bar regarding vegetables so that had no affect my rating, but for those that want to know: The Caesar salad was alright. It's comes with a pretzel crumble rather than croutons, which I thought was creative and very fitting for a bar. There was a little too much dressing for my liking, but over all I liked it. I have nothing but great things to say about BlueJacket. Came in on a Nationals game night- no issues being seated. It was busy, but not crazy. Ordering via QR code from the table was super easy and the food/drinks came out FAST!!! The staff constantly rotated through the area checking for empty plates and refilling water and even answering questions. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Very modern vibe throughout. The whiskey and bourbon menu was outstanding with lots of high end/ hard to find bourbons on the menu. The food was delicious! I went simple and had the friend chicken sandwich. The only reason I write this review (and give 4 stars because they most certainly deserve 6) is because I was DEVASTATED to find that Tater Tot Poutine was recently taken off the menu. I dined here twice on my last DC trip. I didn't absolutely love every dish I tried but I'll tell you why I'm a fan. Love that you can order small sizes of craft beers. Love the tater tots...two separate dining times they were hot, addictive and delicious. They are almost like little pillows of mashed potatoes fried into the shape of a tater tot. I'm not a big pickle person but I actually really liked the Asian style pickles and even the pickled blackberries! I also really liked the smoked white fish. Wasn't a big fan of the pulled pork...too sweet and not smoky enough. Also the grilled cheese while loaded with cheese but didn't have enough tomato jam to even know it was there. If you are looking for a great brewery with a well rounded tap list (and NO bud light), knowledge stsfsnd some kick ads food, I highly recommend Blue Jacket. My second time visiting while in DC and I am always glad when I leave that I made the trek here. The space is large and industrial with tables and first come first serve options. This time around the hubs and I snagged a seat at the bar between football games and settled in for some good beer and convo with the bartenders. I hate that many breweries are brewing a lot of UPA6s as they are the "in" beer but here you will find a large variety of beers from lagers to traditionalcssk beers. The they have the option for full or half pours if you can't decide which is great for me as I don't always know what I am in the mood for. As for the food, they have plenty of sharable plates and dinner options. I highly recommend the pretzel and the fried pickles with a corn meal crust and everything bagel seasoning.
