Great experience. It was 4th of July at 11 p.m. our primary vet was of course closed. I have been without AC for a month. One of our cats was ill from the heat. We called & they were kind & informative. We drove over & they were following a healthy distance protocol still so we had to call upon arrival in the parking lot. The tech & security wore masks. I felt safe & the tech & office showed empathy & gave our cat the best care. I would recommend this vet for anything. A good vet is hard to find. read more

This was our first time using Blue Pearl. We rushed our dog there around 2am, she was dying. They came out immediately and carried her inside. We hadn't even finished filling out paperwork when they came to get us. The vet came in to explain what he had seen while examining her and told us there wasn't anything that could be done. We agreed on euthanasia, he walked out and then back in to inform us that she had just passed. The entire staff was so kind, gentle and compassionate. They led us right into a nice room and rolled our baby in so we could be with her for as long as we needed. They waited until we came out, they never bothered us. They made a very difficult situation a little easier. I would absolutely recommend this facility. read more

They saved our Cubby's life. We gave him an antihistamine as advised by our vet but unknown to us it also had a decongestant in it. The "D" in the label stands for Deadly in dogs. Pseudoephedrine is actually another name for speed. At 120 mgs our little toy poodle would have died overnight! He was soon agitated and had tremors. Anyway a Google search and a call to poison control alerted us to get to Blue Pearl immediately! They kept him in ICU for two days and nights: Oxygen, sedatives, IV fluids and lots of TLC brought him through. We are soooo grateful to those folks! Expert Compassionate Thorough Care! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! We had a horrible visit, if your dog stays overnight it will not be guaranteed to have reliable treatment. Our dog was left with standing orders without anyone following through on them for 5 hours!!!! We recently lost our pet to Parvo and we paid for private cremation they messed up and never returned her ashes. When we called they left us on hold for a long time before they told us that they had messed up. The staff did not want to give us receipts for any of the things we had already paid for, even it was a cash transaction. Take your pet anywhere else. I waited 11 hours outside the facility. I arrived at 11:22am and called to get my pet checked in. At 12:15pm someone came outside to get Peanut. I was told I could not leave the parking lot until the vet talked to me. At 6pm after I got a a call from the veterinarian advising me that Peanut had a fever, ear infection, and wanted to check for a diseases which cost me $370. (I didn't think that after getting a call from the vet that I would be awaiting an additional 4 hours). I continued to wait outside for Peanut and at 9pm, I called to get a status and was told they were waiting on blood work. At called again at 10:22 on my 11th hour waiting outside and the veterinarian told me that a technician would be coming outside to go over discharge paperwork as the blood work has just came in. Thomas was very rude, he said why did you wait outside so long because and ear infection is not an emergency. When your dog has a fever and hasn't eaten in 3 days and is always shaking and has stuff coming out of his ears; I would say it's a cause for a concern to any "dog parent". He said that if it was his dog he would have just left and waited for a call because an ear infection was not a emergency. A "dog/pet" is pet of someone's family and not just a "pet". I told Thomas that I was offended that he had even asked me that and he was insensitive and seemed to have just been coming outside with an attitude. Not a characteristic you want to see in someone who works with animals all day. I called the office right after I got in my call and asked that a manager call me back and I was told I would get a call in 3-5 business days and If I didn't hear back within that time to call back in. If I could give this place zero stars I would! Please take your business else where especially if you care for your pet. My cat has had significant amounts of blood coming out while urinating, seems blocked. Spent a 7.5 hours here while they saw my cat. Was told 7 days for test results. Sent us home after a $550 bill with antibiotics. I've been trying to call for test results over 7 days, keep getting told they'll have someone call me back because the techs have no clue what the test results mean themselves. Honestly speaking, I would only go this facility as a last resort. They were super slow and it was a two hour wait for my dog to be seen. I could understand if they were busy but that wasn't the case. I once I was finally in the room waiting for the vet all I could her was the entire staff laughing and joking around. All that energy should have been used seeing the patients in a timely manner. There were no emergency cases that night to justify the wait times. I had to stay on top of them to finish up with my pet so I could end this five hour ordeal. I was asked to pay before each step of the services provided to my pet. The receptionist assumed I was unable to pay my bill and was on the pet care care plan. I informed them I was able to pay any bill regardless of the price. I had to show her I had a card other than pet care one before she agreed to let me pay at the end. This was not a cheap experience and I was super offended to say the least. It's all about the money with this facility, plain and simple. They will diagnose your animal but won't treat it until you step out and pay the man. read more

Absolutely disappointing. I had taken my sweet pup here and was denied - they were not accepting any more pets. My dog injured her eye. We were referred somewhere else - also denied due to staffing?! Came back the next day - denied. Tried one more time - DENIED. My pup ended up going blind due to her injury and my heart breaks that there was no compassion or attempt to help. After spending nearly $700 on a critical exam for my extremely critical dog, they recommended a $4400 surgery to save her life. They diagnosed her with sepsis and hypoglycemia. Even though sepsis is cause by a bacterial infection they sent my dog home with NO antibiotics. When I was unable to get surgery for her the next day at my vet due to full bookings, I called for antibiotics. Not only did they not prescribe any, they also told me they don't send septic dogs home with antibiotics because, in not doing so they hope to force the owner into another emergency clinic or back into theirs. About an hour after I spoke with them for the antibiotics the SHERIFF called me. He told me that they were demanding that I either get surgery for my dog or put her to sleep!!!!! Needless to say, it has been over a week now. And my dog never went to another vet. I did put her on oral antibiotics, flushed her uterus daily with a special solution and ran fluids on her. And she is running around with tail wagging. On a side note: my dog had all the signs of stroke when I brought her in as well. This dog was so critically ill at that time I have no doubt she would have died on the table and I would be a total of $5300 poorer, not to mention the cost of this imported dog. read more

We brought him in in very critical (but alive condition) and they came out and asked if it was our cat and when we said yes but we've only had him for a week and a half she walks away, only for someone else to come give us the crate we brought him in empty and he said they were thinking of putting him down because he was suffering and his wounds were too bad, so we waited to see. No one ever told us so ANOTHER lady comes out and asks if we are "waiting for something" and we say yeah the results for our kitty we brought & he says "oh we helped put him down"????? Wtf??? After my chihuahua was attacked by my husky I came straight to Blue Pearl. Once I arrived and gave them my info, they came right out and brought us both back right away. I was afraid I would have to put her down, but after a quick examination they told me it wasnt as bad as it looked. I couldnt afford further testing past the examination and they were very understanding and never judgemental. She was able to leave with some antibiotics and some pain meds, all within a couple hours of arriving. The staff and vet were all very sweet and I would highly recommend if your pet is having an emergency. read more

I have had the misfortune of using Blue Pearl twice. They are the worst, most unkind people I have ever met. All they want to do is run tests and stack up your bill. They called me with a follow up at 11:30 pm and told me I need to pay an additional $1400 above the $1200 I already paid. I was exhausted and worried about my Dog. They would not take my credit card over the phone and told me I had to pay online or come down in person. I told them that would be difficult to do at that hour, and was there any way they would take the card over the phone. The girl on the other end rudely told me, it was company policy to only pay online and hung up on me. I attempted to pay online but the site wanted a customer number and some other items I did not have. I had to call the rude girl back and ask what was the customer number, so I could complete the payment. She told me to just skip that and scroll down to put the pets name in. Why couldn't she volunteer that information before rudely hanging up on me? I would strongly recommend diving a bit farther to receive better care by qualified and companionate people. The place is filled with signs about having to make payments prior to service. Nothing else in the waiting area but Money, Money, Money. I wish I could give them a negative score. I don't feel that anyone there is really qualified with any degree from an accredited University. I do strongly believe the staff at the front desk are just warm bodies for hire to fill a chair. Brought my puppy in last week she was in very critical condition, they took her in right away which I was very thankful for that, staff was amazing kept us updated explained everything to us up until they told me she would have to stay in over night, I couldn't afford to keep her there the price was incredibly high and my situation was unfortunate, 10 minutes after I declined to keep her there they asked me if I would like to surrender her to a staff member this comment made me very disappointed with the facility, if I did not care for my pup I would've never brought her in and surrendered her a long time ago, now once I said no to surrendering her they took over an hour to discharge me which was very surprising to me because they were very quick to bring me estimates and extremely quick to charge me after seeing the estimate, I feel they were so helpful and treated us well up until the point I declined to the last estimate to keep her in, makes you feel like they only treat you well as long as you pay up. read more

First time I had to utilize their 24/7 ER vet services. Unfortunately I did not know that it was going to be the last time I would walk out with my wasabi. She has been an awesome fuzzy daughter for the last 12 years and have been in great health. All the sudden one day we woke up finding her bleeding from her mouth. Completed a blood work panel and all sorts of tests and found out that she had no platelets in her blood. The regular vet sent her home with steroids and hope that she will recover from that. But later on the next day my poor baby became blind , & she finally got so tired and she didn't move. I had to carry her into the car and we got to the vet and they did the same thing took more test and ran and found the same thing that actually her body is killing the platelets in her blood. Blue Pearl was really awesome in this truly hard time in euthanizing her. I got to be with her and hold her paw throughout the whole process. I keep telling her that I'm here with her all the way. And then I will see her soon. read more

First time using BluePearl after our beloved cat suddenly passed away one evening. Being a rushed decision we did not have time to read reviews and did not want to wait until morning to take him to be cremated. Filling paper work out and paying them was fast and easy. The more upsetting part was that we waited two weeks to finally get his ashes back home. I called in after getting worried and they said they had his ashes ready three days after we took him in, I never received any calls or a voicemail within the two weeks I was waiting! read more

I had one of the worst experiences of my life at Blue Pearl in Avondale and I recommend running away from this business and don't turn back. i waited 8-1/2 hours just for a vet to look at my very sick cat, paid close to $2,000 just for the initial x-rays and bloodwork then was told she was critically ill with an extremely inflamed and non-functioning liver. They then collected another $4,200 to run many other tests and perform some procedures while never telling me her prognosis was extremely poor and she was not likely to survive her illness. They kept stringing me along and tried to suggest an "aura of hope" by preying on my love for my cat. When I complained about their outrageously and stratosphericly overpriced tests and procedures, I was told their prices were set at the corpirate level so no one at the hospital could do anything about them or reduce them. When they called me a third time to ask for an additional $1,200 I finally wised up and asked them directly what my cat's prognosis was, I was told it was extremely poor so I had to tell them finally to stop all treatment and euthanize her. Absolutely the worst experience and I will never, ever use Blue Pearl ever again. read more

I wish it could be lower. Today took dog in based on there leadership after calling and talking with technician. I was told not to leave until vitals done that took 1 hour and 2 requests. Then we were told the vet does not want us to leave we were told to wait for a call. We did 5 hours later after inquiring several times on status vet advised us what she wanted to do we agreed. I asked if she has had any water since THEY were concerned about dehydration. I stated she has been in a cage for 5 hours and you were concerned about her being dehydrated. She (Vet) said sarcastically that's right Boss. Very professional I will never recommend this place to anyone who cares for their animals. read more

I feel guilty leaving a 2 star review, because truthfully, they did check my cat out and give her meds, so I feel that her needs were met (I will keep this post updated if anything goes amiss regarding treatment). However, I feel that my own needs were not as satiated. I know that COVID has caused massive changes in how employees are working, but this hospital has no sense of compassion towards their customers. When I arrived, they took my kitten inside and left me outside without telling me ANYTHING- where is she going? Who's going to be working on her? What exactly will you be doing? No explanation was offered whatsoever, not to mention that nobody asked if I was comfortable with leaving my cat alone with strangers, which I wasn't. (Again, I get COVID, but her airway showed potential for swelling shut. I would've liked to be there if my cat dropped dead.) Then, I was asked for my I.D. Maybe it was silly of me not to bring it, but you'd think someone would've mentioned to bring it considering that I called 3 separate times before arriving. After that, I waited in the parking lot for over an hour while they worked on her. She only needed a physical exam, so I have no idea what else they had her doing for the other 50 minutes she was there. After calling to inform me that her exam was complete, they took another 20 minutes to bring her outside. During this time, one of the vet techs came outside. I said "excuse me!" to try and glean an answer about the whereabouts of my kitten, and she ignored me, even though she DEFINITELY heard me. This is on top of the multiple times another vet tech had came out and not acknowledged me AT ALL. The only dude that seemed to give a shit was the tall guy with brushed-back hair, tattoos and nail polish. He was very nice and seemed genuinely concerned. The end price was around $250 for an exam and some meds, which was what I figured it would be. I am very grateful for the care that this hospital provided for my baby, but the poor work attitude ruined the experience. God forbid my kitten is ever sick again, I will be taking her elsewhere. read more

My dog had to get his neutered wound closed since it opened 7days after initial surgery date. His fault. Doc that did it was nice, I got charged 275.$ but oh well things we do for our pets... this happened Thursday night. Today Saturday morning his wound opened up and this time my dog wasn't at fault. Took our cat to the Emergency Animal Clinic in the middle of the night. Immediately we were overwhelmed by the caring staff. They cuddled our kitty, calling him by name and comforting him. Of course once we had told them the basics of his emergency, they took him back while we finished the intake process. I truly feel the Emergency Animal Clinic saved kitty's life and my entire family is grateful to them for their caring, urgent and compassionate approach during intake, care out outtake processes. 10 stars would be more appropriate to the service we received. I am deeply disappointed in the care we received at BP Avondale and Phoenix for THREE reasons. REASON ONE: Following a laparotomy, enterotomy, and biopsies (all performed 3/23) my dog was discharged with dried diarrhea- according to the Phx PM- and -according to a tech- other "bodily fluids" -around her rump, back, and legs. My dog was so, so filthy. Prior to bringing her back in for recheck, I called multiple times to inquire (1) what the substance was and (2) who was responsible for her oversight. I spoke with 2 BP staff, none of whom provided clear answers to the prior questions. One even advised me that dogs with long hair will have staining following defacation- This was *nothing* like that. I told the BP team I was worried about risk of infection. REASON TWO: On day of discharge, I was not consulted with a licensed veterinarian onsite, but a technician. What are the vet tech's qualifications to oversee discharge? I did receive a brief call (under 10 min) from Dr. Skaggs saying my dog could come home- I assumed I'd be speaking with a DVM at pickup to review discharge protocol. Regardless, I received 0 verbal instructions on appropriate post op treatment- including what constitutes as a well-fitting cone, how to monitor for abnormalities, and how to clean the wound. AFTER RECHECK and speaking with a DVM, the instructions were revised to list what this "means"). REASON THREE: Unsurprisingly, my dog developed a severe infection at the incision site. Still, not one BP staff member has acknowledged who was responsible for discharge oversight and treatment planning- I assume Dr. Skaggs' and team, but improper oversight at Avondale could have easily contributed to the mess on her fur. A simple review of the notes could have answered my questions. It is my opinion that under qualified staff (who apparently oversee the discharges of surgical patients with complex histories) and lack of patient communication surrounding discharge pose immediate risk for patient safety. The total cost for the procedures and infection treatment was $14,679.77. read more

I cannot believe this place. I have a sick cat that we rescued recently. My husband texted me at work and told me our kitty was in a lot of pain and not acting right today. I work in a busy ER. I asked to leave 2 hours early so I could get him looked at. My vet recommended a different emergency vet, but this one was much closer. I pulled up to the building and there was a sign on the door asking me to call a number, which I did. I gave the lady all my info including what car I was in. She said she would send a tech right out to get my kitty. 30 minutes later, I was still waiting so I called them and they put me on hold. After 10 minutes on hold I finally left!! I was tired after working all day and felt like my time and my sick kitty didn't matter to them! I will take him to our vet first thing tomorrow. I definitely won't waste my time here again and I wish I would have listened to the reviews I read before coming. And it wasn't like they were busy. I saw several staff casually bringing dogs in and out to go pee. They should be more sympathetic to a sick cat who is already unhappy being in a carrier in a car! Update: I took my cat to Desert Ark in Avondale this morning and got excellent care. I felt like they were compassionate and they took very good care of my kitty. UPDATE : DO NOT let the managers' "follow-up" message fool you!! I tried calling the owner as requested. The receptionist put me on hold, came back on asked me which review I had left, I told her. She then left me on hold for a few more minutes and came back on and told me the manager was in a meeting and would call me back. She took my name and number. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK!! They just wanted to make it look like they were concerned by "responding" to my review. I was actually considering changing the stars on my review if the manager or owner would have spoken to me, because at least it would have shown the cares. I had to take my pet, a cat, due to lily poisoning. The staff are all nice and caring. It is pricey, but the health of our lovely pet has no price. The vet was able I detect more than the reason why he was in the emergency hospital for. He had to remain over night in the hospital and the vet kept me updated on the health of my pet every day. I was able to visit my pet anytime which was also great. At time of discharge, I was explained everything completed and was given all the lab results for my records. read more
