We have had custom work done here for our 15-year anniversary and I can't see enough good things about the whole process. In addition to a custom ring, bluestone has helped us pick wine for my father in their excellent selection of wine, has helped repair my wedding set, sized multiple rings, and has given us beautiful jewelry that is heirloom quality. I am surprised that I have not written a review for this store before! Through the years, I bought 3 pieces from Bluestone - all beautiful "Lake Tahoe" themed necklaces. Today, I ventured out to Truckee, looking for a birthday present for myself... this places keeps getting better and better! I found a brushed silver pendant with a forest tree cutout. Since I've bought 3 pendants from them, I really wanted a pair of earrings. The owner will send me a quote for a gold pair of earrings with the same cutout, brushed yellow gold. Can't wait! The customer service is superb! I could spend the whole day (almost did!) looking at all of the beautiful jewelry made by their resident jewelry maker. They have wine tasting in the back which is a kept secret, shared with patrons. I've yet to taste the wine. Have to save that for another trip. Readily accessible in downtown Truckee. Prices on silver items are very reasonable but be prepared for some sticker shock when it comes to the pieces in any shade of gold. I tend to fall in love with all of the most exquisite and most pricey pieces that I won't be able to buy. This time I chatted with the two folks working there and learned they have a second location in Tahoe City. They were happy to set aside the one item I was debating about so I could walk around and think on it. Very nice Jewerly and beautiful handcrafted Tahoe Jewerly pendants and earrings. Just lovely. This shop went over and beyond with great customer service and integrity. Last year right when Covid had just really hit and started close downs I had purchased a basic flexible wedding ring from the shop. Unfortunately the manufacturer of these rings were drastically effected and caused a huge disruption in the chain of manufacturing, dispensing and delivering of goods. The shop had communicated with me over the months of how to figure out what might be happening with the company and product. Well, over Thanksgiving I was able to touch base with the shop and they worked very diligently to help figure out what has happened. After all the hunting they were able to let me know that the ring would come but would be delayed still ( Covid still), I could get a refund or I could use the money paid as a pre down payment toward another item. I was very happy with how they were very personable and how they handled the crazy situation caused by no fault of their own. I was in town for a weekend with a girlfriend and we spent the afternoon in downtown Truckee. My parents owned a jewelry store in San Rafael, CA, so I know my jewelry. I was immediately impressed with what I saw. The designs and variety are extensive for a jewelry store in located in Truckee. Aaron Bigelow is the son of the owners and has to be the nicest person I have ever met. He tolerated my friend and I (oh, and we had had a couple of cocktails so his patience was REALLY appreciated), My friend and I both fell in love with multiple pieces and eventually decided to each get similar sapphire rings. The rings were nothing like I had ever seen. They are white, light blue and dark blue sapphires in a pave' type setting. My ring has a total carat weight of 3.5 carats and the quality of the sapphires is amazing. The blues and white have amazing sparkle and the setting design is flawless. Prior to our deciding to purchase our rings I was amazed at how reasonably priced these beautiful pieces of jewelry were . My friend fell in love with a diamond band that was a VERY reasonable $10,000.00 for the quality and carat weight of the diamonds. My engagement ring and wedding ring were made by Cornelis Hollander and it was $30,000.00 for an ugly, modern wedding ring set (that he made .25 too small) with a total carat weight of 2 carats. The ring my friend fell in love with was approximately 2 carats, high quality diamonds that were a fraction of the over-priced ring I had. It was also gorgeous. I called my mom (she and her husband owned the jewelry store mentioned above) she couldn't believe that I paid $535 for a 3.5 carat sapphire ring set in sterling silver. She loves my ring and still cannot believe how Bluestone had such a gorgeous piece for such an amazing price. Later that night we were out and ran into an adorable couple who had just gotten engaged...with a ring purchased at Bluestone! I really cannot say enough about this store and Aaron. I have my eye on another piece that I think would be a fabulous birthday gift for myself! Marc was extremely helpful, listened to what my fiancé wanted, never rushed us or pushed us out of my price range. He did a wax build first so we could see what It would look like.
