I'm SO Glad the whole little Chamblee downtown area upgraded so much in the past one year, more and more nice eateries and pubs mushroomed here! And BlueTop is the newest one to this collection (Aug 2017) really laid back, bar food style Southern pub. We recently tried Bluetop and thought it was OK, but nothing special. You order as you walk in, get your order number and drinks, seat yourself, and then the food is brought to your table. When done, you pay your tab where you placed your order. Between the three of us, we had a french dip, fish tacos, and a salad with protein. The food was hot, but we agreed that it was not particularly flavorful or special. A band started playing just as we finished eating, so we left as we couldn't hear ourselves talk. Parking was a bit of a challenge on a Wednesday evening, but we managed to find something not too far away. After reading other reviews, I didn't see why others rave about Bluetop. I would return as my beer was cold, sandwich was hot, and the setting was the casual, "bar food" kind of place I enjoy. Maybe next time will bring that enhanced experience... read more

This place is such a great spot to grab drinks and dinner with friends. The live music was actually really good and we went inside where the fan could get to us to keep us more cool. I got the chicken salad which was good but a massive portion. read more

Located in Chamblee, this entire restaurant has fresh air and open seating. Lots of outdoor seating as well. Live jazz music every Wednesday which was one of the reasons we wanted to check out this spot. We arrived and parking is very limited. Park on the street or along the sides of the buildings so get there early to look for a spot to avoid being late. We walked into the restaurant and there was no hostess to greet us. The bartender was busy socializing with her coworker that she didn't attend to me and my friend when we walked in and we stood there staring at her before she even acknowledged us. This was poor customer service. Also, as a heads up, you order at the bar. There was no sign for this and no hostess to tell you so it is awkward as a customer. In addition, you grab your own water cups and seat yourself. There is no wait staff. My fried tacos were ok. The salsa chips were thin and stale. They gave very little sauces not enough for the chips alone. The only positive about coming here is the live music on Wednesdays and a lot of outdoor seating but don't plan on coming back. read more

We went for a lunch after a meeting and was surprised when they suggested the shrimp burger. Had a side salad with it to be a little healthier and it was also very good. I highly recommend the shrimp burger as it's hearty, taste really great and is unexpected. The side salad was very refreshing. Sat in the bar area as it's much cooler than the dining side. I am looking forward to going back in the evening so I can try one of their cocktails. They let you serve your own drinks so you can add half sweet and unsweetened to get it just right. I know it's supposed to be that sweet in Georgia but hey here in Texas we like to live on the wild side. read more

My hubby and I stumbled across this restaurant at lunch. From the front, you can be fooled into thinking it's a small, sleepy spot. But get beyond the bar, and there's a large patio, half covered and half open. Lights are strung throughout. The look and ambiance is that of a casual beach bar. The staff were fun and friendly. The whole place has a great vibe! The food is EVEN BETTER. The nachos are excellent and the fish tacos are the best I've ever had (and I've had A LOT). The fish was lightly battered and fried perfectly. The fish was moist and flavorful. The slaw and sauce on top made it pop without overpowering the fish. Fresh fried tortilla chips, queso, and Pico de Gallo rounded out the dish. Portions are generous but not overly large. Price was very reasonable. We'll be back! read more

Food was good, prices weren't crazy. Incredibly poor selection of beer in my opinion for a place that considers itself a bar. They also appear to be incredibly understaffed. I went on a Sunday, so it may have been busier than normal, but employees were obviously frustrated and one employee was at the point of talking back to customers as well. We have gone here 4 times and the vibe is cute and laid back. Tons of outdoor seating, and good (fried) food. Not to be a "Karen" but Georgia's Covid numbers are surging, and none of the waiters, kitchen staff and even owner are wearing masks. They cleared are plates, and asked us about the food with no mask. Since we were eating we didn't have our masks on either, so felt a little unsafe. We arrived last Saturday right at 845-850 to try and eat dinner and were told the kitchen was closed. 2 weekends before that we got there at 6ish and basically told they were out of most all food items. Came in on a Friday night. Pretty good amount of people inside. There's live music which I enjoyed. This was my first time here so I wasn't sure of what to do when I walked in. I didn't know "order here" was for everyone. I thought it was for To Go orders. We ordered all appetizers and got 2 spirits. It's kinda overpriced for the small amounts of food we ordered.The lady taking our order recommended the crispy cauliflower. Those were great! Lightly floured with a nice seasoning on them. Could've used a dipping sauce but still good. The Chipotle wings were sweet and tangy with a kick. Loved them. The mister got the Lobster corndogs that were really good. The coating was more like sweet and sour shrimp/chicken instead of corndogs coating. I ordered the empanadas without reading what was on the inside because for the most part I love all meat filled pastries but I should've read it first. It was like spaghetti filling without noodles topped with corn and tomatoes. My least favorite of all the appetizers. I'd go back when it gets warm bc they have a nice outside area. read more

Today I was parking in the handicap spot labeled blue top parking only. Our plan was to walk down 1 door to personify shop and then return to eat lunch at Blue top. As we were walking out, this elderly man asked if we had a handicapped sticker, I stated we indeed did. As we proceeded he yelled- this is for the restaurant parking. I advised him of our plan and asked him was he the police- he said he was the owner of the restaurant and the parking and continued to argue. We left and shopped and ate at Antioyo Lobo on the other side. Will never again eat or support Blue Top grill- unless ownership changes. read more

Went here for burgers and boy were we in for a treat! Started out with a Pina Colada which was in a squeeze it packet with 100% Agave and boy was it delicious! We ordered the Blue Top Burger with Fries, the burger was double meat with cheese which was hot fresh and tasty. Our meal came very quick and the waitress was amazing! I should have gotten her name. This place was so cute and trendy. Definitely a fun local must see. The inside was rustic and had sort of an old diner vibe. We were the only ones to in there when we stopped in for lunch a little before 1. The menu was surprisingly unique. Lobster corn dog. I had a tuna burger and my friend had the veggie burger. From the outside this seems like it would be like a regular burger, hot dog, grilled cheese kind of place. Not like that at all. I didn't love the tuna burger (it was a patty which was seasoned nicely but it was a little rare in the middle. Normally rare tuna is my thing but it weirded me out being in a ground patty form). Bluetop is definitely one of my favorite spots in the A. Located in the heart of downtown Chamblee which is the cutest area to hang out in by itself. I want to give a quick shout out to Andy he is the nicest guy ever and he will take good care of you when you come see him. The food is great. What a great addition to Chamblee! I had always appreciated the old taxi rank that Bluetop took over and am so glad they kept the integrity of the building when making Bluetop. Order at the counter and find a seat; pay when you're done. Easy peasy! We love to sit out back with a group of friends and kids - it makes for a great Friday night early dinner spot (especially with Frosty Caboose around the corner). The burger is heavenly. Beefy with a perfect burger to bun ratio. Love the meaty cheese and soft bun. It really doesn't need any condiments - one of those rare burger finds that just tastes like a burger should! Go ahead and get the fries - big wedges of delicious potato that have some sort of umami sprinkled on them that makes them amazing. Truly, one of my favorite meals in the ATL. Paired with their house margarita and a wonderful sunset, yup - doesn't get better in my book. The kid's popcorn chicken is terrific. Love their popcorn!!! Parking can be a bit of a jerk. Please don't park at southbound y'all. There is parking behind Himalayas and the strip mall - just scoot around back there. Beer selection is a rotating tap and always have something yum. Super casual with excellent food and a great bar. It always reminds of us Rainey Street in Austin! Please bring back the shrimp roll - it was heavenly! read more

Bartender who took our order could be a lot friendlier. No "hi how are you". Instead "I'm listening". People are just rude and have no concept of customer service. We get it, you're doing us a favor by taking our order at your job where that is literally your job description. So the low down,this place is so cool on the inside with vaulted ceilings, open to outside and heaters and live music!! You order your food and drinks up front and sit down and then they bring your food and drinks. The food was ok and drinks were also ok. There's a fire pit outside and the live music was pretty good. This place is a decent place to grab a drink and maybe a side of fries, but their menu is sorely lacking in veggie options and the beer selection could be a little larger, although the beer taps they have are good ones. The kitchen closes for an hour around 3 which can be an inconvenience sometimes. It's very nice inside though, good for relaxing and reading on a lazy afternoon, which is what keeps me coming back. The crowd can be a weird mix of fratty guys, families, and locals. Would give more stars and be in even more often if the menu had more veggie options. read more

I have been to this restaurant multiple times as a local restaurant and always had a pleasant experience until today. We arrived with our friends and two dogs and sat in the almost empty rear of the restaurant outside. The cashier first told us we could not order food until 4 as their kitchen was closed which is not anywhere on the website. There was also a giant rat on the patio as well. Then one of the managers confronted us and said that we had to leave the back area and go to the front due their policy of not having dogs in the back after 4. We had previously been given a water bowl by the staff with no mention of any such rule. As we were moving to the front the manager made a comment under his breath that well if you don't like the policy you can run the restaurant. This was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. We then saw the owner and attempted to share this feedback with him and he literally had zero interest in even listening to our concerns. He made no apologies nor did he offer to address the matter. We informed him that we were leaving and not returning to his establishment and he didn't say a word. Completely sad to see this type of ownership and management especially in such an economy as today. We will not be back and don't recommend. read more

We have eaten here before and the food was good. The experience today however qualifies for zero stars if possible. No social distancing, people standing in front of the doors like there was no pandemic, nobody (not even the staff) was wearing a mask, no to mention gloves for the employees. I asked if someone can clean the table outside but was told they were too busy. Well, I'll be too busy worrying about my own health instead of going to Bluetop again. read more

I really enjoyed this place. Well spaced for social distancing and the staff was great. It was very confusing, kind of a hybrid between counter service and table service but I'm not sure if that is a business model or a Covid requirement. The food was fantastic, the table had a mix of sandwiches and apps and the fried pickles were crunchy and tart and wonderful and the cauliflower was the best I've had. I actually ate more cauliflower than any human being should eat at one sitting but it was so delicious I couldn't stop. Comfortable and yummy and reasonably priced, we will be back. read more

Don't let the location or outside fool you, this is a neighborhood gem! There is always something going on at Blue Top...corn hole, games, live music etc. You walk in and order at the counter, choose your seat and the food comes to you. The food is not your average bar food. The burger is to die for and the cauliflower might be my favorite thing on the menu. The wings should also be mentioned...although a little spicy, totally worth it. The bartenders are friendly and will likely remember your name. There was a bartender that was horribly rude to all customers he encountered. I personally witnessed him shaking a beer prior to giving it to a customer, calling a customer a redneck, ignoring customers despite making eye contact and asking them what they want. Later in the evening, this drunk bartender almost hit our car driving out of the parking lot and flicked us off as he was leaving. He then drifted out of blue top, and sped to the next red light while skidding into the oncoming lane. By the way his mustache had boogers in it because he was too drunk to notice. Friends also waited 40 minutes for 1 order of fried pickles and checks were wrong. The pickles were pretty good. read more

I love the vibe of this place. The staff is super laid back and ready to make your experience great. We were there at 9pm on a Friday and as most restaurants do in that area, they close at 10pm. 10pm rolled up real quick and of course we were deep in a corn hole competition with the libations pouring. The staff said "Naw man, you guys keep playing. As long as you guys want to stay, we're cool with that." (can you say great customer service?!) After kicking back a couple more cold ones and finishing our game we jet setted about 11:30. We started feeling bad, I mean it's a Friday night they prob have plans. Fully recommend this spot. Try the octopus, pork, cauliflower or empanadas appetizers. Fire! One bit of advise for the management/owners. Set up more ordering stations or get back to servers. Line gets a little redic during rush hours. I'll give move you from 4 to 5 stars if you fix this issue. read more

Really wanted to love this place. We thought this would be a family friendly joint with a nice patio for the kids. Have been here three times now and each time was better than the next. The bad starts with the ordering process that is plainly put idiotic. There's really no place to form a queue but yet you are expected to stand in that line with kids (nobody can sit down until order is placed) for what can be 10-15 mins or worse. There's no menu that you can peruse until you get right up to place the order - in short, terrible process and design. The food is mediocre at best, and each time we were there at least one mistake was made. It's complete mayhem inside. Patrons having to get up to refill their own water, waiters who don't know what's going on. Never coming back. Recommend to stay away even with the patio. read more
